WHEN HISTORY SPEAKS

“When thou art departed from me to day, then thou shalt find two men by Rachel's sepulchre in the border of Benjamin at Zelzah; and they will say unto thee, The asses which thou wentest to seek are found...”
(1 Samuel 10: 2)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

In our Focal Scripture, Samuel informed Saul about two men he would meet at Rachel’s sepulcher. Rachel was part of the history in Israel. She belonged to the past; she was a past history that was dead and forgotten; she was a history that had been buried and confined to the memory of Israel.

The men at Rachel’s sepulcher had good news of the recovery of the asses belonging to Saul’s father. The place of Rachel’s death became a landmark for good news. The dead and forgotten history represented by Rachel spoke in Saul’s favour. At Rachel’s sepulcher, instead of death, Saul found life. Saul’s history spoke in his favour.

Friend, hear God’s prophetic word: your history will speak for you. Something from your past is about to become a platform for good news in your life. Your past and forgotten efforts are about to bring you unexpected results; your past relationships are about to become harbingers of uncommon miracles and open doors. Things you may have forgotten in your past will soon arise and open a new, positive chapter in your life.

Things may have gone wrong in your past, but God is about to turn it around for good. The places that gave you pain will give you joy; the places where you were rejected will soon become places where you will be celebrated; the places in your past that remind you of how things went wrong are about to become landmarks for ceaseless celebrations.

Psalm 126: 1 says: “When the LORD turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream.”

Prayer: Lord, cause my past and my history to speak for me, in Jesus’ name!Amen
This Friday, You Shall Enter Your Season Of Glory And Testimonies.

"Then the angel I saw standing on the sea and on the land raised his right hand toward heaven. He swore an oath in the name of the One who lives forever and ever, who created the heavens and everything in them, the earth and everything it, and the sea and everything in it. HEALED BY GOD

“Then Samuel took a vial of oil, and poured it upon his head, and kissed him, and said, Is it not because the LORD hath anointed thee to be captain over his inheritance?” (1 Samuel 10: 1)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

Another ingredient of the anointing oil that was used in Old Testament times is the calamus, which has medicinal properties. So when Saul was anointed, God added healing and health to his life. If there was any sickness or sick area in Saul's life, the medicinal anointing was already waiting to deal with it.

Friend, as you stay connected to God this year, you will enjoy the medicinal anointing. God will cause you to experience healing in every sick area of your life. God will bring healing to your sick body; God will bring healing to your sick finances; God will bring healing to your sick business and career; God will heal your home, marriage, emotions, and any part of your life that is sick.

Saul was yet to fall sick when he was anointed with oil that had medicinal properties. God says, before ‘sickness’ arises, you have healing. No sickness or medical issue will keep your body in bondage this year; no issue will perpetually keep any facet of your life sick this year. Before any 'sickness' comes, you already would have the anointing for healing.

This year, when sickness arises, don’t accept it; enforce the medicinal anointing on your life. When sickness comes on your family, marriage, career, business, ministry, etc, enforce your rights as one who is already healed.

In Exodus 15 vs. 26 (MSG), God Says, "If you listen, listen obediently to how God tells you to live in his presence, obeying his commandments and keeping all his laws, then I won't strike you with all the diseases that I inflicted on the Egyptians; I am God your healer".

YOU ARE PRESERVED

“Then Samuel took a vial of oil, and poured it upon his head, and kissed him, and said, Is it not because the LORD hath anointed thee to be captain over his inheritance?”
(1 Samuel 10: 1)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

In Old Testament times, kings were anointed with oil. That oil was made up of different components, one of which is the ‘myrrh’. Myrrh has preservative properties. So when Samuel anointed Saul, he invariably poured the oil of preservation on Saul. Saul was anointed with the oil of preservation.

Friend, God says, you are preserved. You are preserved from harm; you are preserved from the attacks of the enemy; you are preserved from the wickedness of the wicked; you are shielded from tragedies and calamities; you are preserved from satanic plans against you; nothing will spoil in your life. What brings others down won't bring you down; what destroys others won’t destroy you.

As God grants you Exceeding Expansion, He won’t allow you to be vulnerable to the wickedness of the wicked. As God causes you to break forth on all sides, you won't go down because of haters. The oil of preservation upon your life is ahead of your haters; before they arrive, the oil of preservation will make their evil mission impossible.

God preserved Saul in view of who he had become. God knows about the greatness coming your way this year; He knows the material things you will soon possess; He knows the positions you are about to occupy; He knows the opposition that may arise against you. God says, concerning every opposition that has arisen or will still arise, you are already preserved.

The anointing oil in Old Testament times is symbolic of the Holy Spirit in New Testament times. As you walk closely with the Holy Spirit and draw near to God’s presence, you will be preserved.

Prayer : Lord, in 2016, preserve me from every attack of the enemy, in Jesus’ name!Amen

A MOVING ANOINTING

“Then Samuel took a vial of oil, and poured it upon his head, and kissed him, and said, Is it not because the LORD hath anointed thee to be captain over his inheritance?” (1 Samuel 10: 1)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

In Old Testament times, a flask of oil was poured on the head of a would-be king. The oil would ordinarily run down from the head to the face and to garments. It was such pouring of oil that was referred to in Psalm 133, when the oil on Aaron’s head ran down to his skirts. So the oil that was poured on Saul was oil that could run down his skirts; the oil that was poured on Saul made movements.

Friend, the anointing God wants to release on your life is an anointing that would move from your ‘head’ down to your ‘skirts’. It is an anointing that will make impact in different areas of your life; it’s an anointing that will open doors for you with ease; it’s an anointing that will bring great results in your career, business, ministry, academics, etc.

This year, the oil of God upon your life will make movements into various areas of your life. It will move into your future; it will visit your children wherever they are; it will move into the camp of your enemies and turn the tables in your favour; it will locate your clients and turn them in your favour; it will step into your health and roll away every health challenge; it will break the chains of bondage and affliction in your life.

This year, the evidence of God’s anointing upon your life will be manifest in every area of your life; but on the flipside, it is your duty to crave for and ask God for more of His presence and anointing upon your life.

No Exceeding Expansion can be achieved or sustained outside of the power of God at work within you. Ask God for more anointing that will make movements in your life.

DELAYED ON PURPOSE

“...Samuel said to Saul, Bid the servant pass on before us, (and he passed on,) but stand thou still a while, that I may shew thee the word of God.”
(1 Samuel 9: 27)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

Samuel commanded Saul to stand still for a while, in order to show him God's word. Saul was going to stay in the same position for a while, because God had something new to show him. He was about to be delayed in one position, because something new was about to be shown to him. He was delayed because there was about to be a showing.

Friend, when God allows you to remain at the same spot longer than you planned, it is for a purpose; just open your eyes, there might be something new that God wants you to see. When you are stuck at the same point you ought to have passed over, not for any fault of yours, be sure that God wants you to see what you haven’t seen.

God may have allowed your financial status to remain the same for a while so that He can show you new ideas that will increase you. God may have allowed you to be stuck with some problems so that you can pray more or even appreciate His mercies more. God may have allowed you to remain longer than you wish on the same level because of lessons you are yet to learn. If God allows delay, He has a purpose you need to discover.

When no purpose is being achieved through the delays you are facing, you just might be dealing with a case of stagnation. When you are delayed and God does not show you anything new, open your eyes to see.

Samuel wanted Saul to stand still for a while. What looked like delay in Saul's life was only for a while. Any God-ordained delay in your life is for a while. Soon, you will step out of it and step into your next level.

Prayer : Lord, for every delay I face in destiny, show me a new thing; my delay is for a while, in Jesus’ name!Amen

WHEN SERVANTS OVERTAKE

“...Samuel said to Saul, Bid the servant pass on before us, (and he passed on,) but stand thou still a while, that I may shew thee the word of God.”
(1 Samuel 9: 27)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

In our Focal Scripture, Samuel instructed Saul to tell his servant to pass on ahead of them. Servants moved behind their masters in Old Testament times; but by Samuel’s instruction, the servant was meant to overtake both Saul and Samuel. Samuel’s instruction created an awkward scenario where a servant was ahead of his master.

Saul’s servant passed on ahead of them because Samuel wanted to show God's Word to Saul. When a less qualified servant moved ahead of Saul, it was because something greater was about to be unveiled in Saul’s life. Saul’s servant overtook him so that God could unveil Saul’s kingship.

Friend, when the ‘servants’ of this world move ahead of you in life, always remember that there is something new that God wants to show you. When people who are not as qualified as you begin to move ahead of you, don’t despair, there is something new in your life that God is about to unveil. When it seems that your subordinates are fast becoming your superiors, don’t lose your confidence; God is at work in you.

They overtook you so that your next level of greatness can be made manifest. They overtook you so that God will show you to your generation. They overtook you so that you can step into a new, higher level; they overtook you so that something special and supernatural can be made manifest in you. They overtook you so that you can step into your season of Exceeding Expansion.

Don’t lose sleep on account of the servants who are currently ahead of you. If God be for you, there will be a showing that the servants won’t be part of.

Prayer : Lord, when servants overtake me, show me a new thing, in Jesus’ name!Amen
