SHARE YOUR SMALL PIECE

“And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would.”
(John 6: 11)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

In our Focal Scripture, Jesus took the loaves, gave thanks to God, and gave to the disciples, who shared to the multitudes; He did same with the fishes. The disciples got small pieces of bread and fish from Jesus, and as they shared same, they fed the multitude. They put their small pieces to work, and a miracle happened.

Friend, God says, your hands may not be full yet, but put what you have to work. Put your skills to work; put your abilities, ideas and visions to work; use that small opportunity that has come your way; start that business no matter how small your capital is; write that application; you may not have enough to start what you need to start, but God says, start with what you have.

You may not have enough clients, but share your services efficiently to the few you have; you may not yet be in a position to make giant strides, but make the most of your current position; the big things you want may not have come yet, but start with what you have in your hands.

As the disciples distributed the little pieces, the multitude got fed with much left over. They shared the little they had in their hands and God did the rest. Share your little pieces and God will do the multiplication; express what you have in you, do your best and leave the rest to God.

The little pieces you have in your hands can feed a multitude if you are bold enough to share it; share your little pieces put what you have to work, express what God has deposited in you and watch God multiply the works of your hands.

Prayer : Lord, I will put what I have in my hands to work; cause a multiplication, in Jesus name. AMEN

RELAX

“And Jesus said, Make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in the place. ...” (John 6: 10)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

Before Jesus fed the multitude, He instructed that they be made to sit down. The sitting position is a position of relaxation when compared to standing. So Jesus commanded that the hungry multitude should relax; He commanded the recipients of the next miracle He was about to perform to relax; when they relaxed, He fed them until they were filled.

Friend, is there a need in your life that makes you agitated? Are there issues you are facing that won’t let you calm down and think straight? Are there issues bothering you to the extent that you have lost your peace and joy? Like the multitude that Jesus fed, is there a ‘hunger’ that is keeping you standing longer than necessary?

God says, relax. Stop worrying about what the next day will bring, relax; stop wondering where the next meal will come from, relax; stop breaking your head over the puzzles life has thrown at you, relax; stop losing your peace, joy, calmness, confidence, poise, etc simply because of needs in your life that have not been met; concerning those miracles that are yet to happen, God says, relax.

The multitude relaxed and they got fed until they were full. If you relax and trust God, He will show up on time for you, and He will do mighty things you never bargained for. If you relax, you will realize that your failure to relax has not added value to you. If you relax, you will discover that you have so much to gain from Jesus.

When the men relaxed, they sat on green grass. They relaxed and enjoyed what they had around them before Jesus brought the main package. Relax, and you will see that there is so much to enjoy despite your situation.

Jesus already knows what to do; relax and leave the rest to Him.

GIVE YOUR ALL

“And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed… and likewise of the fishes as much as they would.”
(John 6: 11)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

Our Scripture Reading makes mention of a lad who had five loaves of bread and two fish; Jesus eventually took the loaves and fishes and fed the multitude. So the lad gave everything he had. He didn’t give because he had thousands of loaves and fishes; he had just a few, and he gave all.

Friend, God says, give your all. Don’t just give when you have excess; give even when you have a little; give even when what you have is not enough; give your all to God in sacrifice; give your all in service to God and humanity; give your best and your all when giving gifts to loved ones.

Giving your all will never be convenient, but God says, still give your all. Giving your all may make you look stranded with no fallback plan, but never mind, just give your all. The persons for whom you are giving your all may not even deserve your all, but God says, just give your all.

Small men only give when they have an overflow; great men give their all without bating an eyelid. Holding on to your all may make your hands full, but giving your all will feed multitudes and will later make your baskets to be full.

Giving your all may make you look like a fool in the eyes of those who don’t give, but still give; it’s not about them, it’s about Jesus.

You may never be remembered for what you kept for yourself, but you will be remembered for what you gave to God and to your generation. Give your all to your generation; above all, and most importantly, give your all to God.

Proverbs 11 vs. 24 says: “There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty.”

Prayer : Lord, I give my all to You; give me the heart of a giver, in Jesus name!Amen

YOU WON'T BE HIDDEN

“There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes...”
(John 6: 9)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

The lad who had five loaves and two fishes was among a huge multitude. In bible times, when people were described as a multitude, they were usually in several thousands. So the lad was in the midst of thousands of men, women and children who could have made him more obscure.

Despite the multitude, Andrew saw the lad with five loaves and two fishes. Despite the multitude that should have kept him in obscurity, he was seen by Andrew. The crowd could not hide him; he was not big, but he was noticed. He was in a multitude but what he had stood him out.

Friend, hear God’s prophetic word: you will stand out from the crowd. You will be seen despite the multitudes that want to overshadow you; your skills shall be discovered despite the multitudes struggling to gain attention; your business will be discovered despite the crowd of competitors around you; your efficiency will be seen despite multitudes who don’t want you to be seen; what you have in you will distinguish you.

No multitude can keep you in obscurity; no crowd will relegate you to the place of insignificance; nobody will hide you or shut you out of the limelight. The more they try to hide you, the more the value in you will scream at the rooftop. The more the multitudes work against you, the more God will distinguish you above them.

The lad had what Jesus needed to feed the multitude, he was a carrier of value, and the value announced him despite the crowd. You may not be able to announce or advertise yourself; but the value in you will announce and advertise you to your generation.

Prayer : Lord, I can’t be hidden; what I have in me will announce me, in Jesus’ name!Amen
