“And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him.”
(Mark 16: 1)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

Between the day of Jesus’ crucifixion and the day of His resurrection, there was a Sabbath day. In Old Testament times, the Sabbath day was a day of rejoicing. So between Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection, there was rejoicing. Between the bad news of crucifixion and the good news of resurrection, there was rejoicing. In order to transit from crucifixion to resurrection, the bridge of rejoicing was crossed.

Friend, your miracles may not have come, but God says, start rejoicing. Your next level may not have come, but start rejoicing. Your increase may not have happened, but start rejoicing. Your congratulations may not have happened yet, but God says, start rejoicing. You may not have had divine intervention yet, you may not have received the miracles you desire, you may not have hit your target, but God says, start rejoicing.

Rejoice for the miracles that are about to come your way in 2015. Rejoice for the breakthroughs that God will give you this year; rejoice for the open doors you are about to have; rejoice for the unspeakable joy that God will cause you to have in a matter of time.

Rejoice for the things that are yet to happen; rejoice for what God is about to bring your way; rejoice for the transition from your ‘crucifixion’ to ‘resurrection’.

Remember, after the Sabbath was observed, resurrection immediately followed. God says, observe your ‘Sabbath’, rejoice for the things that are yet to happen, and in a matter of time, you will witness your miracles.

Prayer : Lord, I rejoice for the miracles that are yet to come my way, in Jesus’ name!Amen
Have A Restful Saturday.

“And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him.”
(Mark 16: 1)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

Between the day of Jesus’ crucifixion and the day of His resurrection was the Sabbath day. The Sabbath day was a day of rest. So between the death and resurrection, there was rest. Another word for rest is ‘relaxation’. Between the crucifixion and resurrection, there was rest.

Friend, are there miracles you are expecting? Are there episodes of shame and pain you desperately want to walk away from? Are there things that have not worked in your favour, and you can’t wait for things to start working? Are there positive desires for which you earnestly seek a manifestation? Are you expectant for a transition from crucifixion to resurrection?

God says, relax. Relax as you wait for miracles that God is bringing your way; relax as you wait for the fulfillment of God's words and promises concerning you; relax as you await answers to your prayers; relax as you wait for the change you want to see in and around you; relax as you await your next level.

Being tensed and unsettled as you await God’s intervention will not change anything; being tensed will not move you forward; if you fail to relax, you may not notice your miracle when it happens. You won’t gain anything or solve any problem if you fail to relax. If you don’t relax, you may not transit from crucifixion to resurrection.

The miracle of resurrection was a settled matter, and after the day of rest, it happened as scriptures promised. Don't be agitated and tensed concerning the matters that are already settled in scriptures.

If God said it, relax, your miracle is coming, your expectations will be fulfilled; God will fulfill His words if you relax.

Prayer : Lord, I will relax as I await my miracles, in Jesus’ name!Amen
Have A Fabulous Friday.

“And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him.”
(Mark 16: 1)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

After the crucifixion of Jesus, the next destiny event was resurrection. After the pain and shame associated with crucifixion, the next event was the joy and celebration that came on the day of resurrection. Crucifixion left a sour taste in the minds of Jesus’ disciples; but their bitterness later gave way to the excitement of resurrection.

Between the crucifixion day and resurrection day was the Sabbath day. Sabbath was a covenant between God and the Israelites. So between the pain and shame of crucifixion and the joy that came on the resurrection day, there was an observance of a covenant with God. The covenant of Sabbath was observed before the miracle of resurrection manifested.

Friend, if you desire a fulfillment of God’s promises to you, keep your covenant with God. Observe and comply with every commandment that God has given you; observe the principle of tithes and offerings; observe the covenant of first fruits; observe the principle of loving your enemies as scriptures prescribe; observe the principle of honesty and uprightness; play your own part before calling on God to play His own part.

If you fail to keep your covenant with God, don’t feel bad if God appears uncommitted to your course. If you repeatedly break your consecration and covenant with God, don’t be surprised if He bypasses you to bless others; keep your covenant with God if you want Him to keep His word concerning you.

Remember, the miracle of resurrection came after the Sabbath. Fulfill your covenant with God and God will not fail you. If you keep your covenant, God will fulfill His words and promises concerning you.

Prayer : Lord, give me grace to keep my covenant with You, in Jesus’ name!Amen
Have A Lovely Thursday

“And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him.”
(Mark 16: 1)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

Prior to our Focal Scripture, Jesus’ crucifixion had taken place; and the next thing that was meant to happen was resurrection. After the pain and disgrace that came with crucifixion, the next thing was resurrection; after the bad news of crucifixion came the good news of resurrection.

Between the day of crucifixion and the day of resurrection was a Sabbath day. The Sabbath was a holy day; Sabbath is symbolic of holiness. So, between the bad news of crucifixion and the good news of resurrection, there was ‘holiness’. Holiness was the bridge between the pain and shame of crucifixion, and the glory and celebration of resurrection.

Friend, God says, holiness is the bridge between you and the divine attention you desire; holiness is the bridge between your current level and your next level; holiness is the connection between your setbacks and the divine surprises that will follow; holiness will swing what happens around you in your favour; holiness is a necessity if there will be a fulfillment of God’s promises on your life.

God’s presence in your life and the manifestation of His power on your life, is incompatible with unrighteousness. If you live in sin and ungodliness, you are inhibiting your ‘resurrection’, and you are laying the foundation for your stagnation.

Discard every lifestyle that speaks of sin, ungodliness and unrighteousness; if God won’t be pleased with you if you say or do it, then don’t say or do it.

Righteousness will promote you; sin will demote you. Ungodliness is not God’s way; ask God to give you grace to be holy as He is.

Prayer : Lord, give me grace to be holy as You, in Jesus’ name!Amen

“And there was nothing lacking to them, neither small nor great, neither sons nor daughters, neither spoil, nor any thing that they had taken to them: David recovered all.”
(1 Samuel 30: 19)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

Amalekites were God's enemies and enemies of God’s people. God had commanded King Saul to totally wipe out the Amalekites; God gave up on them, but they later struck and took David’s wives, children and properties. Enemies took David's possessions, and celebrated for what they stole.

In our Focal Scripture, David recovered all that the enemies took from him. He took back his wives, children and possessions; he took back his possessions that strayed into the hands of the enemy; he took back everything that God gave him which the enemy stole. David conquered, and his possessions were no longer in the hands of the enemy.

Friend, God says, your possessions shall no longer be in the hands of the enemy. God will restore everything that belongs to you that is in the hands of enemies; no enemy of your destiny shall celebrate against your interest, or hold on to what God has given you; no enemy of your destiny shall divert what God has given to you; your portion won't be taken away.

The Amalekites appeared to have had an upper hand against David, but in a matter of time, the tables turned and they ran for their lives. God says, the tables will turn, and everyone toying with your inheritance will run for his life. God will turn the tables, and everyone holding on to your possessions will have no choice but to release them.

David was a man after God’s heart, and God didn't allow enemies to escape with his possessions. If you make God your priority, be sure of one thing: no enemy of your destiny will hold on to what is yours.

Prayer: Lord, no enemy of my destiny will hold on to what is mine, in Jesus’ name!Amen

“And there was nothing lacking to them, neither small nor great, neither sons nor daughters, neither spoil, nor any thing that they had taken to them: David recovered all.”
(1 Samuel 30: 19)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

When the Amalekites invaded Ziklag, they took away David’s wives, children and possessions. David put in efforts before he had wives and children; he put in some labour to possess all he possessed. David laboured, but the Amalekites came and took away what he laboured for; he laboured, and enemies took the fruits of his efforts.

In our Focal Scripture, David recovered all that the Amalekites took away from him. He took back the fruits of his labour; he took back all he suffered for. His results were no longer in the hands of enemies. He was no longer in a situation where he laboured and others took the fruits of his efforts. He was no longer in a situation where another man took his reward.

Friend, God says, no man shall take your reward; no man shall steal the fruits of your labour. You will not make efforts and another man will reap the rewards; you will not do well and another man will get promoted because of your efforts; you will not work hard and another person will reap the benefits of your hardwork while you remain empty handed.

The same Amalekites who stole from David ended up losing their own possessions to David. God says, any man who wants to steal your reward will end up losing his own reward to you; any man who wants to take your place will lose his place to you; when they come to steal the fruits of your labour, God will turn the tables and they will lose instead of gaining.

Speak to God about every reward of yours that is in the hands of another man. If Jehovah is involved, you won’t lose your reward.

Prayer : Lord, I won’t lose my reward; no man shall eat the fruits of my labour, in Jesus’ name!Amen

“...they were spread abroad upon all the earth, eating and drinking, and dancing, because of all the great spoil that they had taken out of the land of the Philistines, and out of the land of Judah.” (1 Samuel 30: 16)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

Apart from attacking Ziklag, the Amalekites also invaded and plundered Judah and the land of the Philistines. They stole from David and also stole from other nations; they took spoils from the raids on the territories of Judah and Philistine. They had so much that was not theirs.

When David caught the Amalekites, he took spoils from them. He didn't only recover what he lost; he also recovered what the enemies stole from others. He recovered more than he lost. The losses of the Philistines and Judah became David’s gain; their bad news led to David’s good news.

Friend, hear God’s prophetic word: the losses of others will lead to your gain; the bad news of others will lead to your good news; the misfortunes of others will bring you good fortune; the setbacks of others will be a set up for your increase; what works against others will work for you; the failure of others will work for your success.

As others lose opportunities, clients, jobs, etc, you will gain more opportunities, clients, jobs, etc; when others are short-changed, you will be given in seven fold; when others are cheated, you will be favoured; the things that bring tears to others will bring you joy; the same things that cause others to be consoled will lead to your continuous congratulations.

David chased after the Amalekites on the strength of God’s word; and in the end, the pains of others led to his joy. Run with God’s word; focus on what God is saying; make God your priority, and you will be a beneficiary of other people’s losses.

Prayer : Lord, the losses of others will lead to my gain, in Jesus’ name!Amen

“And they found an Egyptian in the field, and brought him to David, and gave him bread, and he did eat; and they made him drink water;”
(1 Samuel 30: 11)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

While chasing the Amalekites, David came in contact with an Egyptian who was faint. This Egyptian slave knew the whereabouts of the Amalekites; he had strategic information that was useful to David; he had the capacity to make their mission easier; he had the capacity to bring value to their battle.

When David and his men met the Egyptian slave, they offered him food and he later offered them information that helped them win the battle. They invested in him, and they got a huge dividend. They invested in the right man, they fed the right man, and who they fed brought value.

Friend, watch what you feed. Watch what you invest in; be careful with relationships you strengthen; be careful with habits and attitudes that become stronger in you; be careful with what you invest your time in; be careful with the abilities you improve; be careful with what you spend your money and time on.

Glean a lesson: feed the things that will help you to progress. Invest your time and energy in relationships that will improve you; invest money in things that will better your life; grow the habits and attitudes that will be positively profitable to your destiny; take only the steps that will take you closer to important achievements.

If you feed the wrong things, they may attract negative consequences that will destroy you. If you feed and grow your lust, bad habits, incompetence, inconsistency, etc, you are moving down a dangerous slope at an alarming speed.

Before you grow it, ensure that it will help you grow. Before you invest in it, ensure that it will be positively profitable to you.

Prayer : Lord, give me wisdom to feed the things that will be profitable to my destiny, in Jesus’ name!Amen

“But David pursued, he and four hundred men: for two hundred abode behind, which were so faint that they could not go over the brook Besor.”
(1 Samuel 30: 10)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

While David pursued the Amalekites, he went with six hundred men of war. These men had the ability to fight and win the battle; they had potentials and potentialities; they had a reputation of fighting and winning; they were called out because there was an assumption that they could go all the way.

When they got to brook Besor, two hundred men were so faint that they could not continue; they were weak, and they gave up the fight; their weakness forced them out of the race to recover what the enemy stole; there was a word from God concerning their recovery, but they abandoned the mission because they were weak.

Friend, hear God’s warning: if there is no strength in you, you may abandon the race for your next level; if there is no strength in your inner man, you may face one storm and abandon your ship; if you are weak in faith, confidence, competence, resilience, prayers, etc, you may face battles you should ordinarily win, but you might be too weak to win. Any weakness in you will set the stage for you to stop on the way in your destiny race.

Don’t be counted among those who are too weak to continue; be counted among those who are ready to fight on against all odds. You may not know, but there are people who have been through what you are going through, and didn't give up.

The fact that two hundred men gave up didn't mean that everyone would give up. They merely created a platform of ridicule for themselves when the battle was won.

If you give up too quickly, you might end up being the only one who gave up, and your weakness might lay a foundation for your future ridicule.

Prayer : Lord, I refuse to be weak; when others are weak, I shall be strong, in Jesus’ name!Amen

“But David pursued, he and four hundred men: for two hundred abode behind, which were so faint that they could not go over the brook Besor.”
(1 Samuel 30: 10)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

While David pursued the Amalekites, he went with six hundred men, but two hundred men later quit the pursuit. Some people continued with David while others walked away; in the end, those who continued exceeded those who walked away. His supporters exceeded the deserters and saboteurs.

Friend, God says, those who are with you are more than those who have walked away; your supporters are more than your opposers; those on your side are more than those against you; your supporters are more than those sabotaging you; those who will help you to move forward are more than those who want to pull you down; your lovers far exceed your haters.

David focused on his mission, he focused on those who wanted to continue and ignored those who were unwilling; in the end, he achieved his mission. If you focus on haters and those who don’t want to support or assist you, you may not achieve anything with those who are ready and willing to support you. Forget the haters and focus on those who genuinely love you.

What mattered most was not the number of those who abandoned David; what mattered most was that he achieved his mission. The haters and saboteurs in your destiny are not as important as what you need to achieve. Forget the haters, get results, and your results will shut them up forever.

Too much focus on haters is a sign of insecurity and low self esteem. Don’t let haters distract you from your mission. Guess what? An insecure Person overlooks a Crowd of Support just to argue with one critic. Don't prove your haters wrong. Prove your Supporters right!

Prayer : Lord, I believe Your word: those who are with me are more than those against me, in Jesus’ name!Amen

“But David pursued, he and four hundred men: for two hundred abode behind, which were so faint that they could not go over the brook Besor.”
(1 Samuel 30: 10)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

While David pursued the Amalekites, some men were too tired to continue. David already had a word from God to pursue, overtake and recover all, but something that seemed contrary to that word began to happen; some men opted out in a manner that could have discouraged David.

When faced with a depleted army, David did not abandon his mission. He continued until he recovered all. He didn't focus on the situation, he focused on God’s word to help him recover all. Instead of running with the situation, David ran with God’s word. He kept God’s word in sight and he eventually hit his target.

Friend, when situations become difficult and complicated, run with God’s word. When it seems that nothing is working, remind yourself of God’s promises in scriptures. When your opportunities are under threat, remind yourself that God maintains your lot; when it seems you are about to be pushed out by rivals and adversaries, remind yourself that you are seated with Christ in heavenly places.

When situations discourage you, find encouragement from God’s word; when disappointments show up, remember that God will not leave you or forsake you; in the face of insecurity and threat to life, remind yourself that God will give His Angels charge over you; whatever the enemy throws at you, remind yourself of God’s word.

Those that abandoned David didn't stop God’s promise from being fulfilled. David recovered all according to God's word. He focused on God’s word, and despite unfavourable circumstances, he got good results. Focus on God’s word, run with the word and you will get good results.

Prayer : Lord, I choose to run with Your word; may Your word prevail over my situations, in Jesus’ name!amen

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

Whilst pursuing the Amalekites, David and his men came to the brook Besor, where two hundred men elected to quit the pursuit. That pursuit was in a bid to recover what they lost; they had a purpose to achieve, but some men abandoned the purpose. Two hundred men walked away from David.

Despite the men that abandoned the journey, David and four hundred men went on and pursued the Amalekites until they recovered everything they lost. Despite those who walked away, they achieved their purpose, and their mission wasn't scuttled; they hit their target despite those who walked away.

Friend, are there people who have walked away from you in the course of what you want to achieve? God says, let them go; their walking away will not stop you from achieving what you want to achieve. Are there people who promised to help you but have now walked away? Let them go; you will hit your target without their help. Those who have abandoned you will not cause your destiny to stop on the way.

If those two hundred men remained a part of the mission, they would have claimed the glory. When people want to walk away and leave you helpless and deserted, let them go; otherwise if they remain with you, they will claim the glory and boast that you couldn’t have made it without their help.

Whoever walked away from you is not as important as God. If God is on your side, your deserters won't change anything. Focus on God, and if anyone wants to walk away and leave you stranded, let them go.

Prayer : Lord, I let go of every man who wants to walk away from me, in Jesus’ name!Amen
