Lero15: I saw on the internet that NNPC is recruiting but the link to apply is not displaying...and I saw different phone numbers to call in order to get the form. is it ok to call those numbers? or can anybody help with the right application link? thanks...@Lero15: it is a hoax! The real application closed last November but was re-opened in December or early this year, I can't remember precisely. Cheers! |
NgoSomto: My friend who lives in the USA applied to NNPC in late December 2012. He has been calling me since last month and told me that someone told him that NNPC has already finished selecting people from that batch. Which means he was not selected. In fact, he said that interviews have already started. He asked me to find out. I do not know anyone in NNPC. Can anyone give me information about the December 2012 NNPC job announcement. This guy calls me everyday cos according to him " he wants to come back home to Nigeria as soon as possible." I feel his pain and why he wants to come back home. He was also asking me if a job that pays 150 000 naira can sustain him in Nigeria for the time being until he finds his feet. Please nairalanders help me with information.@Ngosomto: I will advise your friend not to place his hope solely on NNPC. If he is called and eventually gets the job that will be great but if not, then let him move on. The best is for him to take his mind of it because NNPC is filled with loads of surprises. I heard shortlisting of November 2012 applicants is still in the *cooler*. It is possible the delay is tied to the so-called *2nd batch* of 2010 recruitment. FYI, in the last recruitment, application ended around November 2010. Aptitude test was in March 2011 (Over 40,000 candidates). Interview was in July and August 2011 (over 4,000 candidates). *1st batch* called in July 2012 (about 600 candidates or so not too sure). Some candidates invited by NNPC retails for interview in November 2012. NNPC retails called early May 2013, assumed duty 20th May 2013. He should be prepared for the *murkiest* of all *SCAM*. Those who attended the interview in July/August 2011 got their transport fare reimbursed earlier this year. The unfortunate part is that the process is often bedeviled by myriad of interferences from political bigwigs (I do not want to mention names here) because of their selfish interest to fill in their candidates who do not merit appointment in the corporation. I wish him well in his endeavours!!! |
lrguru: For Those Who Graduated From Uniben: LIST OF SACKED LECTURERS IN UNIBENJideonwo has been reported to be randy by a number of persons. I do not know much about Ariave and Aluyo. I did not know Oni-Ojo was among the sacked lecturers, no wonder I have not seen him recently. I will try to verify the above because I am yet to see an official circular confirming that. |
ellaman: D probe is still on & it's getting hotter! @ list all hop is not lost: read tru dis.Let us not be deceived by the *outburst* of the Senate Joint Committee on this recruitment. The only reason these men could be angry is because the mago-mago did not favour their candidates. I am very sure you would not have heard anything about federal character if it had favoured their candidates. Believe you me these guys and their house of Reps cronies are among those militating against meritocracy in recruitment by most federal parastatals. They are also end up fillings scholarships opportunities with their candidates who are often not qualified at the expense of qualified candidate who go through the often strenous screening exercise. It is a really big shame! Our destinies is in our hands, how long will we allow this oppression and robbery ?? |
aniiii: Note: E is the safest method for the outer ear.I used *E* in the past till I learnt it is not safe to clean with it. Most persons do not need to clean their ears with any of the above, the body has it natural way of getting rid of excess wax. Using a cotton bud could lead to *Otitis media*! |
Apologies! Double post. |
At this point, I don't think there is anything like *civilian* JTF. Anyone who engages his/her enemy with a deadly weapon (AK47, AK49, AR15 or whatever) is no longer a *civilian*. My greatest worry is that the use of *civilian* JTF may boomerang and become a thorn in the flesh of Nigeria if this war against boko haram eventually ends! |
And here goes the so called "reasonable" comment of the average Nigerian. Dangote should be sued for what please?manslaughter? Murder? Majority of the times.....the bikemen are usually at fault with their death defying & award winning riding but the situation changes when they're hit as everyone starts blaming the richer man in the car. It is painful that a life should be lost so needlessly and that's the what to be expected when the roads are bad and the highway patrols & traffic wardens don't see the need to their work. Dangote has more truck on the road than any individual it shouldn't be strange that is trucks ar involvd in accidents from time to time considering the numbr of accidents that occur daily on our roads. [/quo @infolekan: Bad roads are not cogent enough excuse to exonerate Dangote's truck drivers from accidents they have caused or been involved in. If you are a regular commuter on the Lokoja-Abuja road you will understand better! These blokes see themselves as sacred cows and don't seem to consider other road users. Imagine a driver leaving his lane to the other at top speed without care for the legitimate lane user. The last time I travelled on that route, the driver of our vehicle had to veer off the road to avoid these trucks. We were fortunate there was no ditch off the road. It is high time the authority (FRSC or whoever) acted and bring an end to this madness. These drivers should undergo psychiatric test for a start. Dangote needs to call his men to order if he didn't give them the directive to drive recklessly as alleged by some persons. I rest my case! |
It is very doleful to hear of the untimely demise of this middle-aged woman occasioned by the heedless of one of Alhaji Dangote's driver. I pray The Almighty grants her rest and give her family the fortitude to bear this grave loss! I reckon it is high time the biggest stick is wielded to stop this madness by these drivers since the CEO has been pussyfooting to stem the tide of reckless driving. |
hottprince: bros u be saka abi? he said in uk n some other countries and not Nigeria@hottprince; what do you mean by *SAKA*? Even though he said schools in the UK and some other countries not Nigeria. If I am not mistaken, I think there is somewhere he referred to the head of his uni as rector! The reason I said the *bolded* is because his uni is domiciled in Nigeria. |
OP: Please come clear the air. |
Symphony007: firstly. My subsequent post points to the fact that we(her students) do not know here exact age but due to her looks, there is the general perception that she is 30. Did you know your dean's age while in school? Many thanks for the information. I have looked it up on Google. The head of a uni in some Scandinavian, eastern European and some other countries (including 4 in the UK) are called Rektor/Rector. The head of some high schools are also called Rector. However, I couldn't find any article where the head of a Nigerian university was called a Rector. Please furnish me with one if my *research* was not comprehensive enough. Perhaps she looks much more younger than her age. When I was in uni, I could tell you the age of my dean within +/- 4 years. I know the age of the current dean including his D.O.B. Please post the link of the press statement by the VC of a prominent Nigerian federal uni on the appointment of deans. I would like to be educated on that. Thanks buddy! |
Mcleo007: Why are MOST ppl screaming and doubting the op when by themselves, they have no basis to place their doubt. It is very possible to be dean at 30 or even less if you have the qualities. Being intelligent or becoming a faculty dean has nothing to do with age. My young sister is a practicing lawyer at just 22(been practicing For 2 yrs now). Do you mean to tell me if she pursued a career in the academia, she cnt bexome a dean at 30?Dear Mcleo007: There is no way you kid sister would have been a dean at 30 in any NUC-accredited university! Does your sister have a Ph.D? According to NUC regulations, a Ph.D holder must have at least 15 years teaching experience before he/she can be appointed a professor. In Nigeria, the academics is not somewhere you are promoted based on performance only. You need to spend some years in each position (i.e. acquire teaching experience) and have publications which must meet the requirements given by A & P board. Cheers buddy! |

Symphony007: Hello, looking at the time i'm posting this you'll see i've been up all night thinking. i want to seek reasonable and salient advice before i make a monumental decision. Pls help...i am in my second year in the university( for privacy i won'nt disclose name) and the dean of my faculty(law) who is also our legal method lecturer came to me with an offer, she said i should impregnant her and she will make sure i graduate top of my peers and she will pay, i should just call a figure.@OP: I have some information for you. I find it very hard to believe you have a 30 year old dean. The dean of any faculty in a conventional NUC accredited university must be a professor who should have been at least a head of department at a point. According to NUC regulation, a Ph.D holder MUST have at least fifteen (15) years teaching experience before he/she can appointed a professor. That implies your dean bagged her Ph.D at the age of 15. What age did she start primary school? I would not have had much issues if you said she was the HOD. Secondly, a university is headed by a Vice-Chancellor not a Rector. A polytechnic is headed by a Rector. Thirdly, the dean is not appointed by the head of the university. An election is conducted in which other lecturers vote their choice candidate. Please feel free to let me know if you require further information/clarification about Nigerian universities. Please check your spellings always. Cheers buddy! |
bobthebuilder99: http://premiumtimesng.com/news/138985-exclusive-hardship-mounts-as-poorly-fed-nigerian-troop-in-mali-are-unpaid-for-three-months.htmlI am not surprised to hear this. This has become a norm in Nigeria where the Ogas at the top *chop* the boys at the bottom allowances and entitlement. They have lost their conscience hence they don't see anything wrong in siphoning the little coins meant for those who's life are in perpetual danger while they relax in their cosy offices. I do hope something would happen one day because the level of greed and selfishness is becoming astronomical in Nigeria from the Presidency, National Assembly etc. These folks keep telling us we are enjoying the dividends of democracy when some of our children sit on the floor in schools or receive class under trees while their children are attending the best schools in the world! |
proflangdon: Hmmm... even after his display of madness (my way of putting it), I still believe the Super Eagles needs him. He's a great player..He is not and has never been a GREAT player. Without sentiment, Osaze is an average player who plays with so much zeal and commitment. He should also learn to tame his mouth/fingers! |
boron10: Great! But identify yourself@boron10: identify yourself first! |
Congratulations Uwa you have made us proud!!!! Great UNIBEN!!! Great NAASITE!!! |
I think it is equally difficult for both men and women to find life partners. Female folks would tell you it is more difficult to choose a man while the male folks would also tell you it is more difficult to choose a wife. It is not often easy for either party to find the other party with the *right mix* of qualities at the *right time*. Just like a bloke who has *pear* and is looking for someone who has *apple* for *trade by barter*. The bloke needs to keep searching for someone who has *apple* and willing to trade it for *pear* or shift his/her stance and look for someone willing to accept *pear* for another fruit say *pawpaw/pineapple/mango/banana/cashew*. |
@OP: Is it Maritime Security Agency with brown/green shirt on a blue pair of trousers? |
Debra851: I am a woman with a Ph.D. from a top American university. People describe me as friendly but men do not look at me or ask me for dates unless I am wearing makeup. Without makeup I am plain looking. Only when I am dressed up and wearing makeup do men approach me for a date! I am still single because most of the time I look plain. Too bad men don't want a smart woman. So can I say that men prefer beauty to intelligence? Not all men value beauty over intelligence! Some men prefer a balance between the two. The weight attached to each varies with individual. What defines a lady goes beyond beauty and intelligence, it includes character etc. I think it is the *mix* of these factors that are most important. |
irpheezy: So, I met this guy and we got along really well until I noticed his addiction to alcohol and d fact dat he hardly prays. I tried to talk him into reducing his alcohol intake nd building his spirituality and BOOM!! (He explodes)sayin he cudnt do either and all sorts. We r currently not speakin 2eachoda. So fellow nairalanders do u tink I'm at fault? For tryna help sum1 I loved?@OP there is nothing wrong in giving an advice to a friend especially when it revolves around a habit that could have deleterious effect on health. However, it is one thing for you to give an advice and it is another thing for the other party to accept the advice. It is possible the manner you advised the bloke gave him the impression you were trying to control him or he is adamant to correction/advice. Habits are second nature and could be difficult to change. Since you cannot live with his habits, I wouldnt advice you proceed to the next level in your friendship/relationship. However, you could still be friends. There are two possible options: 1. Since friendship either makes or breaks one, you might be the *angel* to make him a better person. He might genuinely change to a better person with your encouragement/support. However, this will require concerted effort and time. 2. The chap *pretends* to change only for him to return to his old self when you have reached a point of no return (married). Good luck sis! |
toluene12: @o.p, dont worry, I'm sure you will finally meet the girl of ur dream.@toulene12 I do not hope to get to 35 before tying the knot. Thanks for making your comment! |
patholaw: @OP as ur looking for high grade just remember dat character does not show in d result....@patholaw thanks for your contribution. I perfectly agree with you that character does not show in the result. Character and result are totally independent. There are some with good character and low grades, there are some with bad character and low grades, there are also some with good character and good grades. |
byvan: Nl deserves to be hailed,I hail them again.I wonder the place of a persons GP in a functional marriage.@byvan there is no correlation between a person's GP and a functional marriage. Similarly, there is no correlation between a person's economic/social status and a functional marriage, but the fact is there are very few or no female graduates who would like to settle down with a man who has a senior school certificate and subsists on menial jobs. |
pakoto: @OP, you will definately find your own, question is; are you patient enough too?@pakoto loads of thanks for your advice! Perhaps I will need to chill for a while too. |
luvmijeje: Does 2.1 means being wise? Being responsible? Being faithful? Being truthful. Being caring? Are we not talking of Nigeria educational System? Nairaland I hail o.@luvmijeje 2.1 does not mean being wiser, more responsible, more caring, more supportive or being more faithful. I was referring to a merited 2.1. There are some persons who are sound academically but still make 2.2 because they were not focused, I know a bloke who made 2.2 in his first degree but made a distinction in his masters and was also the best in his class. There are also other persons who are first class materials but made 2.2 because they were working to sustain themselves. This list goes on and on... The person I referred to is focused but it appears that is the best of her ability. I have been privileged to be involved in the administration of Nigerian educational system from primary, secondary through university levels so I know what transpires! |
luvmijeje: Hian! Op you are not yet matured for a relationship.@luvemijeje thanks for your contribution but I beg to disagree with you on the maturity issue! |
Carius: On the contrary,I think ur expectations are quite low@Carius I don't think getting to Deeper Life is *sine qua non* to meeting my expectations. The last time I attended a Deeper Life program was over 10 years ago. Thanks for contributing! |
50calibre: No your expectations are not too high, you are well within your right to seek the optimum mate for propagation of your progeny. It's a simple biological quality intrinsic in every animal.@50 calibre thank you for your astute contribution! |
sexkillz: The only problem I see here is your pride. . . Work on your pride and stop looking at the world from your toilet window. That paper called certificate doesn't guarantee you nada. There is more to a lady with a 2.2 paper.Mr sexkillz I am very grateful for your contribution! I do know the paper (certificate) doesnt guarantee anything, I would have a rethink. On the issue of pride, those who know me in person wouldnt say I am proud, it is just that I know my *onions*. I always pipe low but my cover tend to be blown up by people who know me but I think it is because I have been exploring familiar terrain most times. I reckon I need to start exploring unfamiliar terrain. |
