EmiloCorn:You actually think It's a nylon like the ones they normally use for bread? I'm talking about a thick nylon here. It last long and very durable. |
NokiaN8:I would invest after buying the 2013 camry and selling my camry, that's my plan. |
I posted some weeks ago, regarding a used 2008 camry that I bought, I also complained about It's fuel consumption, nevertheless no need beating around the bush, I would just go to the point. After buying the Camry, days later I inserted both catalysts, changed oil, all 4 coils, all spark plugs, fuel pump and 02 Sensor, my fuel consumption became a bit better than It previously was. I have spent a lot on this 2008 camry, aside the above mentioned things that I made mentioned I wrapped the seat 155k, also used nylon to wrap it 43k, changed all 4 tires, changed the dashboard screen to Android, bought spare tyre and wheel, and other things I might have forgotten to mention here. Right now, the camry fuel consumption It's quite better than It was before, I bought 45k fuel which Is about 50 liters of fuel and the car went 98 miles, which Is 159 kilometers before the fuel indicator went back to the exact place, before I bought the fuel. This morning someone posted a clean used 2013 camry on his status, selling for 12m. I texted him and pleaded for a reduction of price, which he plainly refused insisting on 12m as it's last price, I was highly interested, so about an hour later I went to the location the camry was packed, it's a SE edition, also has open roof, and It's also first body, which my 2008 doesn't have any of the above mentioned. I don't have anymore funds, I would have went for a direct Belgium. Still camry is okay, it's been 3 years since It was imported to Nigeria. Regarding the testing, the engine Is as silent as my 2008 camry, you'd barely know or hear the sound when powered on. Also, It's not instantly as responsive as my 2008 camry when you throttle, but still, It's fast and very okay, most especially the engine that's very silent. So, I'm seeking an opinion here if I'm making the right decision, I have spent a lot on the 2008 Camry, and the engine is extremely sharp and flawless, these are my only drawbacks of letting It go. Also, I love the 2013 camry, it's size, the interior and the sharp silent engine. I would greatly appreciate each and every of your opinions, I would truly greatly appreciate, as I intends buying the 2013 Camry this evening or tomorrow morning at most. I don't want to make a wrong decision that I might later regret, please I need y'all opinions. |
afobam:My corolla Is equally thumb start. |
hollas2jnr:From your feedback, if no other code shows up on OBD scan and your tyres are within spec, I'll advise you revert to using thermostat in your engine because this would allow your engine to reach it's optimum temperature on time (and maintain the temperature as well). But this might cost you alot if the engine has been on direct fan for a long time. Hence, i would advise you continue with the direct fan. Moreso, i forgot to add that your recommended oil is synthetic 5w30 and not 20w50 or the likes. This has a lot of role to play too.[/quote Yes, no other code showed up during the scan, and I think that the engine has been direct on the fan long ago. Also, below is the pic's of the kind of oil I'm using. Is it okay and recommended?

So touching. |
hollas2jnr:1...No, I don't think the engine still has its Thermostat on it. Because whenever I start the motor, the fan normally start turning immediately, and from what I have read lately, If the thermostat Is on it, it's not supposed to turn instantly. 2...The tyre size on the wheel Is 215/60/R16 but three of them has filed up, so I changed all 4 tires with my corolla tyre's 205/60/R16 and input the Camry tyre's on my corolla. 3...Yes, I have done an OBD scan when the speedometer stopped reading, It was the sensor on the tyre, it was replaced and the speedometer start working perfectly fine again. |
emmyN:I have place both cars for sale, with intention of buying a direct Belgium, after selling both. |
AceRoyal:Firstly, it depends on your location, where are you located? |
thinkmoney:Mine is 2012, I don’t know If It uses the same catalyst with the 2010 Corolla, u should ask a qualified technician and revert back to me. |
AceRoyal:Yes, only the Corolla catalyst Is available. |
thinkmoney:I got the Corolla catalyst, only. |
Kaymaxi2222:Where are you located?? |
afobam:I'm done testing the Toyota Camry, I bought 25k fuel to test It, It went 55 kilometers before the fuel finished. Whereas on my corolla, 30k fuel normally goes 150km on average. I love the camry, it looks bigger has more power, coupled with the fact that have spent a lot on it, I bought catalyst on it, I bought seat wrap, also used nylon to wrap it, I spend 54k yesterday to raise it, so that whenever I'm passing speed breaker the center of the car won't be touching ground, I bought a new compressor for the AC and also filled it with gas, I changed all 4 spark plugs, all 4 coils, I changed the engine oil yesterday, I bought new air filter, also jarbox oil and break fluid. If I had known I would have tested the fuel consumption before doing all of these, it's such a pity that I wasted all these money all for nothing, now I intend selling it and continue using my corolla. |
Elsueno:I would snap the engine later, I really don't know if it's a big or small engine. |
honda001:Oh, so sorry. I misinterpreted your text, you said miles but I misquoted and calculated yours as kilometers. |
praxs:You're so very right, my corolla hasn't give me any single issue ever since I bought it. |
HarunaWest:I have already bought it, I will test the car fuel consumption as soon as my papers are out. Nevertheless, I should have tested the car without the catalyst before buying one. Below are pictures of the catalysts that was replaced.
|
HarunaWest:I'm supposed to be buying a catalyst for my camry today, but with your comment, I think it'd be wise for me to at least have some patience and test drive it without the catalyst to observe it's fuel consumption, before deciding if I'd be buying the catalyst. |
honda001:Your corolla consumes fuel, just a slight difference of consumption between mine and yours. |
2cribz:Immediately I got my corolla, the first thing I did was change all 4 plugs and oil, I also bought a catalyst, but the mechanic that loosed my older one out, told me that my corolla catalyst was intact, so I kept the new one I bought, and until date it's of no use to me. I changed 02 Sensor after a scan displayed 02 Sensor as a problem of the car, I changed 2 of 4 of the coils. I don't accelerate hard, and lastly, my exhaust Isn't leaking, but still my corolla consumes fuel, with an average usage of 150km per 30 liters of fuel, whereas those using V6 including Mercedes can go 300km per 30 liters of fuel. |
HarunaWest:That's so awesome, you got me thinking right now, that maybe I should at least, wait for my papers to fully be available, and then test drive It before buying the catalyst. What year Is your camry? |
Hello Nairalanders, as y'all can see from my previous threads, I bought a 2008 toyota camry July last year, the fuel consumption was something else and totally out of this world, I went from mechanic to mechanic, to detect and get It resolved, but the fault remained the same, nothing changed. So August last year, I bought a 2012 corolla, but it seems It also consume fuel which I didn't realized until I stormed upon a thread here on Nairaland, I came to this conclusion when I saw a thread on Nairaland titled "how much fuel per km does your car consume" I clicked on the thread and read all the comments and to my surprise, my corolla consume more fuel than those using v6 cars, a guy commented that his Toyota Venza goes 490 miles for 40k fuel, which is approximately 42 liters, I saw another comment where a guy stated that his camry goes 270km for 20k fuel. Whereas my 2012 corolla goes 150km for 30k fuel which is approximately 31L of fuel. This Is the 5th time I have timed and calculated it's fuel consumption, the first I got 150km for 30k fuel, the second I got 144km for 30k fuel, the third I got 152km on 30k fuel, the forth, I got 146km on 30k fuel and the last which was four days ago, I got 149km on 30k fuel. I used "km" because my corolla gas milage reads in km and not miles. Nevertheless, upon realizing this, I got a Nigerian used 2008 camry yesterday, the engine Is in great shape "very silent" but my mechanic I went with to purchase It warned me that there's no catalyst on it, In which I still proceeded in purchasing it, as I intended buying a catalyst for it tomorrow morning. I'm yet to test it's fuel consumption because I'm unable to drive It yet because my papers are not yet ready. I have not sold my 2012 corolla yet, I told myself that If it consumes just like the corolla or consumes slightly just above the corolla, then I would sell my corolla, but If it consumes far more than the corolla then I would sell the newly bought camry and continue using my corolla. For those using the 2007, 2008 or probably 2009 camry, what's your fuel consumption How many miles/km does your car goes per liter![]() Below are the pictures of my corolla and my newly bought camry.

Tolu2024:Thank you, leaving her won't be easy but I will fight tooth and nail for this to become a reality. I haven't been happy ever since I got married, not even one day of love, laughter and happiness. Always sad, I love sleeping alone in the other room than sleeping on same bed with her, I love cuddling but barely touch her whenever I sleep on same bed with her, the marriage is also sex less. I barely get an erection starring at her totally naked body, but would get an instant and strong erection while driving and seeing my spec of a lady on bike or walking along the road. |
yemmit90:I won't regret anything, you think I'd have reacted in such a rude way and manner if my mind is still in the marriage?? Of course I won't, my mind is no longer in it and I'm hoping and praying heavily for what transpired yesterday to be the deal breaker that'd make me get back my bride price. |
advanceDNA:Thank you, this response just boosted my morale, thank you so very much. |
idahme:I wish I knew this earlier, I won't be in this mess that I'm in right now. It was recently that I learnt about it from Twitter. |
AfonjaConehead:Thank you, no wahala, I'm a monster. They should give me back my bride price, I'd gladly accept it. You think I'd have acted in such rude way and manner if my mind is still in the marriage?? And not minding the consequences?? I pray and I hope that this will be the deal breaker for me getting back my bride price and finally leaving this marriage. |
Iseoluwani:Thank you sir, I appreciate these words. They just boosted my morale, thank you. |
regenerateman:Accepting it is not a problem, the problem right here is the fact that they're using it to take advantage of me. Most painful part of it is the fact that those that refused to do the right thing but enjoying their daughter for free are left with absolutely no bill, none at all. |
StPete:He really did died a slow and painful death. He became a skeleton, unable to eat for weeks, walk, talk. Urinating and passing excretas on himself, with big boils with pus in the whole of his body. |
