Abbeyismo:Boss, it's a venza engine, my mechanic confirmed it, lots of camry are also using this venza engine, if u want I can snap it for u to see that it's purely venza engine. |
Abbeyismo:I scanned it, the issue wasn't oxygen sensor, the scanner told me it was exhaust sensor. I searched for it throughout the whole of today but I couldn't find it, tomorrow I will continue Mt search. |
PaZwoD:It's really so unfortunate, I'm so down right now. |
hisgrace090:You mean the fuel usage was OK or I'm the one not understanding what you meant? Is it OK? |
chido20:Yes, we saw lots of corolla that are using venza engine. |
Good morning Nairalands After my never ending fuel gulping battle with my Toyota Camry, I later ended up buying a 2012 Toyota Corolla. I went with my mechanic to a car stand to get it, when we got there we saw different kinds/types of corolla. My mechanic told me some are 1.8l engine while others are 2.0l and a lot of the corolla uses venza engine. I wanted to buy any of the corolla of 1.8L engine but my mechanic told me that they're old model, that I should get a recent corolla with Venza engine, but I refused when I heard the word "venza engine" I told my mechanic that over my dead body will I jump from frying pan to fire, from Camry to Venza. I said so because since the corolla is using Venza engine, it'd surely gulp up fuel like Venza, which would be a lot worst than a camry. But my mechanic assured me that what I said is very false, that it won't. That a corolla is a corolla and corollas doesn't eat fuel. His words really calmed me down and I bought the 2012 corolla. So I bought 8k fuel to test the fuel usage and see how long it'd last, I know I should have bought more, but I needed to get a faster result. Well, it turns out that my mechanic tricked me and I'm in so much pains right now, my 8k fuel only went for 31km before the fuel got exhausted, I later realized that I was very much right and shouldn't have listened to my mechanic that a corolla is a corolla, venza engine or small 1.8L engine. From my observation, it seems the 2012 corolla is gulping up fuel like a venza. Yesterday, I took it to a mechanic and asked them to fix anything that'd make the car to gulp up fuel, they changed the plugs, cleaned the filter, I will be testing it today with another 8k fuel, I pray and I hope that it won't be as bad as it was yesterday, because I'm so depressed right now, after what my camry did to me which made me went for a corolla, now I'm having same issue with my corolla. I'm really so down right now.

FourQu:It's 4 plug, not V6 |
RichIgboBoy:No, I haven't tried that sir. But from what I'm experiencing, I think it'd still be same result. |
Pennywise2:Okay, that's what I I will do...thank you. |
Badb0y4lyf:Yes, same thing my mechanic suggested, he said if I have both catalyst replaced it'd be the end of the excess fuel draining issue, I tole him that I'm ready to have both changed but I'm afraid it might not work, that I have already spent a lot in trying to resolve this fuel issue and replacing the catalyst and, if eventually it didn't work will be a very huge blow to me. If not, I'm fully ready to have them replaced. |
Badb0y4lyf:Sir, will a catalyst solve the problem? If yes and with full assurance then can risk it, even if it's getting a China catalyst as advised by one of the mechanic, please let me know your opinion, I will highly appreciate it |
Whois:I don't like corolla, but because I was told it's very fuel efficient, and the difference between it's consumption and Keke isn't much and very noticeable. I have optioned to go for corolla. |
Zonefree:I have already contemplated selling it, the mistake has already been made and I have fully and wholeheartedly accepted my lose. |
fineboynl:Exactly what I already intend doing. |
fineboynl:Exactly, my friend bought Toyota Camry direct Belgium last year 5.6m And now I bought Nigerian used, less than a year later for a lot more than what my friend bought direct Belgium used In a space of less than a year. The situation is really so pathetic. |
Jamahyel:I have changed them, still the issue persist I changed all four, 16k each.
|
Zonefree:Very important, I have really suffered a lot because of this car, I have suffered a lot. |
Tokskob2008:Exactly what I thought about yesterday, I suspect the person that sold it to me almost 2 weeks ago sold it because of this exact problem. |
fineboynl:They have scanned it, 3 different electricians has scanned it, the first said he didn't see anything wrong, the 2nd said the car is supplying high voltage that I should bring 30k and the problem will be solved, but my mechanic disagreed, and I didn't went back. And the 3rd, I don't know what he detected, but he suggested we changed fuel injections and nozzle, I eventually changed the nozzle and fuel injections, after all work was done the issue became worst. I really cannot take this anymore, it's draining me and I'm selling it today, for a lot lesser price that I got it almost 2 weeks ago, now I'm suspecting it's the reason the former owner sold it in the first place, I'm quite certain. |
Zonefree:Yes, I'm selling it today. Thank you for your input, is the fuel usage normal or excess, what do you think? 8L fuel, I drove just 19 kilometers before the car stopped at the middle of the road, I thank the Lord God Almighty that I got some fuel on a gallon in my boot, this car stopped at a very busy road. |
psucc:Exactly, this is what I intend doing, selling it and buying another with less fuel consumption, maybe today or tomorrow depending when I can lay my hands on it, I heard Toyota Corolla doesn't consume fuel and I intend getting a corolla, I sincerely and sincerely love camry but I'm afraid not to experience another encounter like this, reason I'm optioning for a corolla. |
Asquare84:Boss, I have done everything and anything. I have changed nozzle, 02 plug, fuel injections, weeded iron on the exhaust to act as a catalyst, changed all plugs to Belgium, oil, etc but the issue still persists. I'm so fed up boss, the car fuel gulping is killing me. In less than two weeks, I have spent 196k on fuel. I really cannot take it anymore, it's draining me financially, this is my first time of owing a car, and it's really draining me financially. |
Good morning Nairalands, after all work on my car to stop gulping up fuel. Yesterday, I bought 10,000 naira fuel, which is 8 liter, I rode the car to test the fuel usage, but right now I don't know if my meter is in miles or km, but I will attached the pic's of my meter for experts here to help me out. I need to know if it's okay for 8L of fuel to run for 19km. Please help because I intend selling it this morning, I already have a buyer and I'm kind enough to explain the fuel gulping situation to him, please help me if it's okay for the car to use 8L fuel with 19km drive. It's a Toyota Camry 2008 4 plug
|
ksmart027:Okay, thank you sir. I greatly appreciate. |
Hello Nairalanders, I'm a bit confused. Is my car distance coverage reading in miles or km? Both difference is a coverage of 18,000 worth of fuel, after enough work was done on the car to stop using fuel. Total amount spend plus workmanship was 101,000 It's a Toyota Camry 2008 4 plugs No catalyst But I intend buying two catalysts today, one on the bunnet exhaust and one on the middle of the car. Although some mechenics has told me that the catalyst doesn't matter that there are lots of cars on the road without catalysts but the fuel consumption are totally okay, but I just want to risk this one last chance of solving the fuel issue. Before deciding if I'd be selling it and getting another camry or maybe a corolla. Or Is the fuel consumption okay now?

Patented:They Hava scanned it, the first electrician that scanned it said he didn't see anything. And the other said that the car is supplying high voltage that I should bring 40,000 and the problem will solve. But my mechanic disagreed that such can't make the car to have such issue. |
Patented:They cut the exhaust yesterday and wedded an iron inside of it to act as a catalyst, but the problem is still there. |
Good day Nairalanders, I bought a Toyota Camry, popularly knows as (Spider) about a week and 3 day's ago, and since then I'm spending close to 200k on fuel alone. The next day after I bought the car, I bought 20k fuel for learning how to drive, before I could drive along the road to and fro 6 times, the fuel finished and the car stopped. Since then I have been buying 20k fuel on a daily basis. 3 days ago I took it to a mechanic, they changed the nose, I don't know if I got that correctly, but I will attach the picture. They changed the fuel filter, spark plugs, fuel Injector, and 0 two sensor plus others but yet the problem still persists. Yesterday, after they finished working on it, the mechanics assured me that it'd work, but advised me to buy a good amount of fuel that it might be the cause of the problem, he said I should stop buying fuel of 20k downwards. So I bought 46,000 naira fuel to test it and I snapped the fuel kilometer reader on the dashboard, before I could drive anywhere the whole fuel finished in the middle of the road, I thank God I had some liter of fuel on a gallon that's on my boot, I brought it out filled my fuel tank and the car moved. When I got home I checked my dashboard and saw that I only drove for 18km before the 46,000 naira fuel finished. My younger brother Is saying that it's because of the recent cost of fuel that it might be normal, please expert in the house is this normal? If it isn't, I'd be selling it and getting a Toyota Corolla. I'm so fed up. Below is the before and after picture of the kilometer reader on the dashboard before I tested the car with the 46k fuel I bought, few moments after the mechanics were done working on It. Modified : I'm trying to upload pictures of the dashboard, before and after and also the nozzle, injectors, plugs that was changed, but seems the size is too big, I'm having difficulties uploading them. |
