Bro bad Catalyst do affect car fuel consumption. I m talking out of experience, it has happen to me b4 even though my car hv catalyst but is not working normal and i dont know not until I met one honest mechanic that help me buy a new Catalyst, and after fixing it, I tell u true. My car fuel consumption became normal. So mind you some mechanics fit do u wayo for the Catalyst ooo. Hope ur mechanic is a honest person.

I met a man yesterday where I went to replace my mirror, I asked him about catalyst and he said he knows about catalyst, so he made some few calls and said he will get back to me. He called me later that evening and said it's 213,000 I sent him the money, he called me later in the night and said he has bought it.

The next morning I drove to his shop and he showed me, I don't know how it looks like because I haven't seen a catalyst before.

When he was about fixing it I walked away, because I don't want him to think that I'm suspecting him or does not trust him. I came back later and he has already loosed my exhaust out, he showed me both and said that the catalyst was in the big part I circled on the image. He fixed the new one, I later drove to my mechanic and he told him, I showed him my exhaust that was removed, and he told me that the man does not know what he is saying, he said that the catalyst was in the small place I circled, I argued with him, he asked his colleagues and they confirmed it to be true.

They checked my exhaust and my mechanic confirmed that my old catalyst was still intact. Apparently, I wasted the money, money I was supposed to replace to faulty "abs" nevertheless, the deed has already been done.

Look for ELM 327 scanner
https:///ikeja/car-parts-and-accessories/car-scanner-elm-327-wI1YKAxV67ymVsMXCC7Nr2vK.html?page=1&pos=8&cur_pos=8&ads_per_page=18&ads_count=24&lid=q7XOGBxIxueZj-yl&indexPosition=7

Get your catalyst from a reputable auto parts store with warranty.

I met a man today at where I went to fix my car mirror, he made calls and told me the catalyst would be cost 70k

Is it possible for a Belgium catalyst to be that cheap?

How many kilometers you want make 8k fuel at 868 per liter carry you go??😂😂

Let me help you out. I need to know how much you paid for a liter of fuel. Assuming 1k per liter that should have give you 8 liters which to me is 2 gallon,

Corolla 18L 4 cylinders fuel rate is 35 miles per gallon Highway and 28 miles per gallon city
Venza engine 4 cylinders 2.7L fuel rate is 30 miles highway and 22 miles city
Partner you getting 31 km (19 miles) for 2 gallons just doesn't make any sense to me. Unless the dispensing pump had been tampered with. Even GMC Yukon with 8 cylinders 5.7L engine still gives 16 miles of Highway and 10 miles of City. My advice to Nigerians is to try as much as possible to drive a car with a minimum of 2.4L engines that will help your transmission torque converter due to constant use of the car AC and high temperature. Nigeria weather is similar to Texas, and 80% of Texans drive V6-engine cars.

I paid 1350 per liter, at a filling station.

From the sound of the car, it's not there. But I really need to know if a car without a catalyst conserve fuel, and I will get it with immediate effect.

Yes it does not, the sound from the exhaust sounds like a power bike (lowly)
Car Talk / Re: My Corolla With Venza Engine Gulping Up Fuel Like Water (details Inside) by BlindAngel: 7:53am On Sep 20
GerogeI:

First, you should understand that every engine is identified by model number. Not street Mechanic slangs like Venza Engine. Use your car VIN to get detail of your car including engine model and trim online. That will also tell you if the engine has been swapped out, by crosschecking the physical engine.

2. Stop getting mechanics to fiddle with your car, yo will end up with badly tuned car.

3. Nothing wrong with your bank 1(front) and bank 2 (back) oxygen sensors. If your catalyst is missing, engine ECU or computer will be seeing it as faulty bank 2 oxygen sensor. This affects how much fuel your injector sprays into the engine. Infact, most mechanics will even cut the wires to bank 2 oxygen sensors once the catalyst is removed, leaving you ECU running in default setting.

There are several tables or guides stored in your ECU computer which tells it how much fuel to use based on reports from rear O2 sensor. Whenever it is not seeing sensible report from this sensor it assumes something is wrong and uses a default table which will run the engine in an inefficient fuel rich mode, but with enough power such that you may assume nothing is wrong. It's like operating your car with carburettors, and loosing the efficency brought by computer controlled injectors. The only way to fix this problem is to replace your catalyst. If you can't, drive the car as it is because the only other way is to re-programmed the ecu with your own tables which will not be efficient and cost way more than a catalyst. Note- that your scanner guy cannot reprogrammed ECUs. Yankee peeps who do sell them as costly custome ECUs on ebay. And it will still require a catalyst.

So go buy a replacement catalyst. No modern car using computer controlled injection and ignition can run fuel efficiently without catalyst, it is just impossible.
To scan your car yourself, buy a Bluetooth ELM 327 OBD2 scanner, download the app on your smart phone and scan your car. Some guy based in a plaza in Ikeja Ogba sells it on Jiji.

I would have bought the catalyst long ago, but some mechanic I have net told me that it doesn't matter on fuel consumption, while some said that it does matters.

Another reason I'm scared is that I don't know how it looks like, I really wish to get the original, but the mechanic and seller must surely combine to cheat me, that's my other fear. If not, I'll ready to get and fix it today.

Sir, is this scanner okay?
So I can place order right away.

I don't think the catalyst is there, but several mechanic has told me that catalyst doesn't affect fuel consumption, while a lot has told me that it does.

Several online research that I've conducted said it doesn't, but a lot said it does.

OP. BROS YOUR MECHO NA SCAMMER. I'M NOT SUPRISE BECAUSE EVERY MECHO LOVES A NEW CAR OWNER( AN OPPORTUNITY OF GETTING CLOSE IN COMPLETING THAT LOCAL HOUSE IN IFO, IKORODU, ATAN, SANGO OR LUSADA).
OP, YOUR CAR CATALYST IS MISSING, HENCE THE REASON FOR p0138, p0141 etc..
IT'S KINDA RARE TO HAVE BOTH AIR/FUEL RATIO SENSOR(BANK 1) AND OXYGEN SENSOR(BANK 2) FAULTY SAME TIME. FIX YOUR CATALYST FIRST OR BETTER STILL, GO BUY SPACER WITH BUILT IN CATALYST IF YOU NO GET MONEY. THEY'RE CHEAPER AND WORKS ALSO IF YOU GET THE RIGHT ONE.
AND AS FOR YOUR SPEEDOMETER GUAGE/CLUSTER, CHECK IF YOUR BRAKE AND ABS LIGHT IS ON ON YOUR DASHBOARD. IF ON, THEN YOUR ABS MODULE IS BAD.
THE FIX FOR IT IS TO CHANGE THE MODULE SENSOR ONLY. IT'S EASY TO CHANGE BUT I DOUBT YOU SCAMMER MECHO GO FIT DO AM.
SHA CHANGE YOU MECHO, NA SCAMMER grin grin
IT'S OBVIOUS HE'S WORKING WITH SCAMMER /SCANNER MAN TO RIP YOU. THEIR BELIEVE BE SAY YOU JUST BUY MOTOR SO MONEY DEY YOUR HAND. grin

This is what the scanner man told me needs to be changed, my mechanic has gotten price from the seller and it's 93,000 naira, we're going to get it today. I'm going with him so I will confirm it myself at the shop, if it's truly 93,000.

Bro and his mechanic doesn't know about cars grin
I know venza uses 2.5 2.7L engines on the 4 cylinders and a 3.5L on the V6, and a 2012 Toyota corrola has a 1.8L L4 engine.
So I don't know where he pulled out his whole write up from.

Even the rare XRS version uses a 2.4l block which is used on the camry, not venza.

Just wait, I will snap the engine this morning and tag you. You'll see for yourself that it's a venza engine.

u have to forget d idea that corolla don't consume fuel... I've driven uber before, for you to test if your car consumes fuel or not, you have to fill the tank.... Also if you're in d city, maybe Abuja or lag, forget about all dis mechanics, they'll jst eat d hell out of your money.... If you're in Abuja, go to minna to fix your car, if you're in lagos, enter ibadan or ilorin to fix your car.....

How much per litre?

8k fuel is very small these days and if you bought at 1100 per litre then it means 7.2ltrs although your car supposed to do at least 7-8km per litre which means you are supposed to get above 50km on 8k fuel

No thanks to federal government, fuel cost killing the masses since May 2023

It's just 6L, I bought 1350 per liter at the filling station.
