The federal government failed to address the issue of cleaning up on oil spills which made farming and fishing in many places impossiible, and youths and thugs who probably wouldn't have been farming anyway capitalised on this. The legitimate sufferers from oil and gas explorations are not the ones being paid here. Thugs hijacked the whole thing and held the government to ransome, and the sad part is, the insecurity has driven out many businesses from Port Harcourt and has damaged the economy, it is pretty much sabotage.

That is the average thinking of an Ijaw and Niger Deltan. We see election as a contest and not a war. We want development and not a theatre to brew hate. I recall during the Bayelsa election when some outsiders were abusing some Bayelsans that were supporting Sylva of APC, I rebuked them by saying that both men are Ijaws from Bayelsa and they need support of whoever gives them though I was backing Dickson.
