Dangote is not running an oligopoly...especially as there are two other companies.

So why is BUA operating freely...and Lafarge too?

Your problem is that you want cememt at a cheap price, not Dangote.

Why did Rabin himself make this assertions

Why does Dangote not succeed in any enterprise where he doesn't have monopoly

Why is he struggling in flour, sugar, pasta?

Why would you "open up" the sector for importation? Nigerians want jobs and at the same time don't want a protected economy from external assault. Pick a fight and stick to it.
Trying to form intelligent.

Opening up a market in economics doesn't equate opening up the market for importation. Who ever lent support to importation here

When you don't know enough, keep quiet, be humble, so you can get educated

Even at that. If importation of any produce makes prices fall lower than locally produced commodity, then importation has greater benefits than local productivity.

Domestic productivity is only truly beneficial with high employment, good produce at excellent prices. If these factors are not in place together in any local production chain, it is economically disadvantaged to produce locwlly

Go and study to improve. I'm not your mate

Lol. Mr Scientist. You have no superior knowledge on this unless you can prove that those figures you pulled out of you @ss is verifiable and true. And only if you can prove that you are an electrical engineer.

If it were cheaper, developed economies would run their industries on in-house power plants.

While being deliberately obtuse, you can also
say tricycles are ccheaper than rails in transporting cement. Can't stop laffing.
Good

Begin by debating the salient points I raised intellectually, one by one. Then you'll be taken seriously.

Finally, at least, we have a very few smart Nigerians with objective analysis.

It saddens my heart that, despite the great number of intelligent people the world knows Nigeria has, most Nigerians choose to be oppressed by the political class (oppressors). They exchange their future for peanuts. They even defend them with passion and their last blood. This is interestingly and pathetically insane.

Imagine that the political class is aware that the people they are governing are smart, intelligent people who think, act and demand to be governed intelligently, wouldn't they govern right?
Thanks. It will surprise Nigerians that cement is almost purely sand.. Albeit a type of sand and funny enough 93-94% pure sand and the remaining 6 to 8 percent additives.

Why go to the capital market to raise billions in hundreds every now and then only to produce goods that will kill it's citizens instalmentally

Why is it that products made in China with freight, logistics, processing costs and all if permitted to Nigeria will cost 50/60% cheaper

One word is what it's called in economics. Greed

And on top of this he produces his own electricity. Cheap, gas powered turbines. Unrestrained access to the capital market, cheap labour costs.

Why can't Dangote sell cement 1500 Why?

I can make clear analysis on how to produce cement 1500 and stay Profitable.

To buttress my. Point, when Buhari ascended power to paint the government in good light, Dangote lowered the cost of cement to almost 800 Naira cheaper ( For some months ) so the government would score points. If the price was the actual productive price, that move would have crashed the business.

Facts for facts I'm ready to take on any proDangote analysts here and how for the next 6 hours about how Dangote is one of Nigerians major problems as of. Now

What is not open about it? Is anybody stopping Lafarge or Bua from establishing new plants? Which company wouldn't like to make more money?
Government bureaucracies advocated by oligarchs is the stumbling block. Even BUA chairman wants the government to open up the economy.

We aren't practicing open economy but Oliganomics... What Russia practiced under Dmteri Medvedev before Putin came to power and destroyed.

Which is why Putin can't leave power to death cause the toes he stepped on would come after him for killing their enterprise.

Why do you people conflate building your own infrastructure with backward integration? Generating own power is a disadvantage. Building a power plant with the funds you are supposed to use for something else will increase the cost of your products. Same with building motor ways, Same with buying or assembly fleet of trucks when you should be using rails. Think about this carefully.
I'm a scientist. We are no longer in 2000s

Gas powered turbine aren't as expensive as you would imagine and the volume of productivity it would facilitate isn't compared with its setup cost

That's why Redeem and Convenient University can afford it

Do you know with 5 Billion for example you can have 20 Gas powered turbine that backs industrial productivity.. AND THIS ALONE CAN SUPPORT LARGE VOLUME OF THE ENTIRE CEMENT PRODUCTION CHAINS DAILY AND CONSISTENTLY AND FOR. LONG?

So, with Dangote competing against two other cement companies, how is it not an open field...?

Cememnt manufactring is capital intensive. Not everyone has the cash to go into it.
Oliganomics isn't open business.

There are players that have expressed interest even with money weren't granted access. This point was buttressed by BUA chairman asking Dangote how much he truly needs that he is resisting the government opening up the sector and every sector he operates.

It's in public domain

So if its that straightforward, why don't lafarge reduce their own prices to create more demand for their own cement. After all economics 101 says with reduced price comes increased demand.
Because it's not an open playing field. If the government opens the industry and make it open rather than close, Nigerians will buy cement for 2500 per bag. Smack that

Are you all eating through your noses?!. What kind dumbazz analysis am i reading here in the comment section.

That ex-factory price of N2,510 is the major problem.

Does Dangote expect me to carry 100 bags of cement on my head to the construction site......ALL BY MYSELF?! shocked

The ex-factory price should not exceed N1,500. By the time it gets to the retailers, it would sell for around N2,100. Just loaders charge about N50 per bag.

If Dangote really wants to help Nigerians, that ex-factory price should not be more than N1,500
Finally a very smart and intelligent mind

Please tell them o

Anyways like Rawlings of Ghana said, Nigerians love it's oppressors.

Cement is 90% limestone, sand. I can say thus for a fact, addictive isn't more than 8%. The bulk of processes involved is extracting, separating from debris which is purifying.. Adding additives and bagging....

Tell me why it shouldn't be 1500 Naira especially for material with 90% locally sourced materials.

Meanwhile Dangote generates his power, has bagging company, source for funds from the same public he is milking

Dangote is trying to play a first one here. When you charge transport of 300-500. Add that to the ex factory cost and you can see that the price will be close to N3000 ex factory. Who bears the brunt, the final consumer.

This man is obviously lying. Factory price can't be #2,500 because no retailer will add #1,500 to it and sell at #4,000. The factory price should be between#3,000- #3,300 which is too expensive. Most of what he so facing in Nigeria is also there in other countries that his companies are so why is Nigeria own different when he is even enjoying more in Nigeria and Nigeria have more than twice of the population of other countries

Sighs.......... Drops pen
Now this is someone smart. Not the other gullible entities that flooded this thread

We know the cost of a trailer of Dangote cement from factory to retail outlets. This information is in public domain.. And the price per bag after deducting price per truck isn't even 2800 Naira

There's no cement seller that makes more than 400/500 Naira profit per bag. Quote me anywhere anytime

If that's the case the sector should be a level playing field and not government regulating players. Take 500 billion and see if you'll be granted license to mine limestone.

Considering how wide cement dealership is and the large number of competitors along the retail chain, nothing will increase the price by N1,500 if not that the factory price is hovering between N3,000 - N3,500.

Currently doing a project, the factory price for Dangote cement is currently N3,300 and you must buy through an accredited distributor and get delivered at an extra cost to your site.
Thank you

You don't even need to compare cement prices of different brands to know that these things are driven by inflation. Just take other building components(roofing sheets, nails, wood) and compare the trajectory of those prices with that of cement over the past 4 years.
That's why high capital funds gauge and guard against sharp inflation... Aka stock market funds. When companies like Nestlé sell products at almost the same prices in five years are in the same. Country experiencing the same. Conditions doesn't it tell you that Greed is the factor pushing up prices and not natural inflation..

Should sharp spikes in prices that affect business occur in production, the financial Base should absorb some of the tension and not react to it at every twist and turn

Sir I know your frustration, but limestone, alone will not make a cement and beside many people, always shout dangote am not saying the man is right in everything but he is a human too

most of ingredients needed for making cement have to coming from other country

nobody talk about BOA cement .. ELEPHANT anD LARFAGE cement comparing their price to dangote the cement factory is not monopolize to some extent i just depend on the size of market you have

why do you think many one man business always fail because if the thing hit you and you dont have supportive plan naa to comit succide

Let ask whats the price for other brand of cement so that it will not be only Dangote we go dey bash
Stop defending rubbish abeg

The cement sold in Zambia is it exclusive of transportation cost as it's done in Nigeria

Does approaching the stock market to raise funds not equate that the co-financiers are the people.. Then the people are offloaded with the excess additional cost, get low Dividends and he keeps skyrocketing in finances... Use your sense

Cement is also 80-90% limestone. Do your so research on what cement really is before you comment on this issue oga

Don't have the interest to go back and forth with a "monument to mischief" like you...
Cement prices in Nigeria is a very topical issue which a whole lot of families are grappling with. This is a country where individuals more else carter for their housing needs. You can play to the gallery, but facts are facts. And facts are that Dangote was caught selling cement in other African countries with logistical challenges worse than Nigerias.., half the cost he sells in Nigeria! That's where the rub is. You can't spin that one..., hard as you try. I told you that cement was sold in this country for almost 5k! I stand by that because I know when it sold around 4.5k in certain areas in the east. You can now keep entertaining yourself on this thread for stipends, it doesn't change the fact that Dangote your paymaster has the Nigerian economy on a chokehold and must be stopped!
I studied how you intelligently discussed so it forced me to login to say thumbs up

The problem with our society is people who don't have holistic knowledge of things trying to discuss on issues that are beyond their scope of knowledge as with those guys arguinging with you.

There's a critical factor I keep mentioning when it comes to Dangote which is paripersu significant in the cement production

Dangote approaches the stockmarket every now and then to raise funds to expand or consolidate his financial resources. Aren't these funds meant to act as " buoy " to gauge against fluctuations being mentioned in FX, transportation and act as an absorber so prices are not subjected to spikes whilst maintaining productivity?

If these entities arguing for Dangote understand the financial resources value in the stock exchange market in the productive chain of these enterprises, I believe they should keep shut

Cement shouldn't be more than 2500 retail value. Limestone is purely 80% sand. Additives do not form the significant part of these products
