This is so sad to learn about .
There cannot be any development under this type of circumstance .
Development here means not just infractructural but also human . I wonder how the children/youths there have been performing academically .

This is has made them so disadvantaged intellectually I believe .

Getting the affected communities electricity should be sorted out urgently .

Codeine is an opiate , a chemical in the same league as heroin .

Opiates have analgesic(pain relieving ) properties which makes them a good product in medicine .
These analgesic effects are profound as well, but also have some hypnotic /sedating effects , which manifests by experience of calmness and some euphoria/ improved sense of well being .

The downside of opiates are there addictive properties .

The addictive properties of opiates are very bad and the effects of the addiction can be seen on both personal, family and community levels.

Many addicts are involved in various criminal /antisocial vices to satisfy their cravings for this drugs . Many of the armed robbers , burglars , sex workers are addicted to opiates .
The addictions makes them vulnerable , to exploitation in order to satisfy their cravings .

Codeine does not increase libido, so if the women taking Codeine are engaging in sexually risky behaviours , we must ask ourselves if they are doing it to get resources to procure their drug of addiction ?

Are they also using Codiene for pain ? Physical and psychological ?

Opiate dependence (including Codeine dependence ) is treatable , though a long term treatment approach with appropriate psychological and social approach is also required .

There is no need for enmity between doctors and nurses. They are complimentary. Doctors however have more in depth training. This does no mean seniority, but greater responsibility in the clinical teams. This also translates into higher remuneration for doctors in all developed countries. The financial incentive is to acknowledge their greater responsibility , not necessarily qualifications. We have nurses and other clinical team members with sometimes higher degrees, but still get paid less because the responsibility they carry is not as much..
I don't think it will be smart to prevent doctors from having private practices. It can only lead to boom in illegal clinics and of course trust naija private clinics will open in Benin republic and Togo established by Nigerians and leading to capital flights.

The government should negotiate and doctors should go back to work as soon as negotiations starts.
No blaming.

Doctors should not strike. Other staff should not fight doctors.

I'm surprised at the attitude of some people on this platform. This initiative should be lauded. It is the first of its kind in Nigeria. Probably in west Africa.
This type of welfare scheme is what the western world provides for her citizens. It is a stipend but in advanced countries helps to keep youths from crimes and other vices. That's why most people want visas(welfare till you find your feet). The money is usually very small. Real work must be seen to pay better.
However this is a fantastic initiative, I did not know it will start with 20k. Infact I was of the opinion that so as to include all unemployed youth (non graduates and illiterates can be unemployed too): the money can be 7.5k. If you get a job placement , it should be contributory. Employers 7.5k and government say 10k.
Though small it will reduce vices. We should give an opportunity to work. It works in other countries. It could transform Nigeria

Online masters are a credible qualifications especially in the field where you are -IT .
A job that presently gives you 200k in Naija is much better than a job of 3k dollars or 2.5k pounds abroad -considering everything .
You can always go abroad , even you can get a job in the US or Europe based on the experience and skills that you presently possess .
Pls dont look down on what you have , keep your job , do online masters , keep your eyes open for jobs abroad (believe me they recruit from naija!)

The financial outlay of going abroad is just too much , unless you have the sponsor , many guys who dump their naija jobs , see themselves jobseeking and doing all sorts for 5-8 years after getting the so called dream Masters

I think these are probably a rented crowd rather than rational Nigerians protesting .
Nigerians in Diaspora sometimes have a clearer view of the polity . Definitely asking for British intervention in Nigeria is not an issue now .
Nigeria has definitely moved from the days of rampant senseless state sponsored killings .
Jonathan is definitely better man than most rulers Nigeria has had .

Lets not forget our suffering under the military , clamp down on the press and even ordinary freedoms of expressions online like we had now. I shudder to think of when then Nigerian rulers were using mobile phones and most nigerians were told access to land lines were not for the poor .

My dear Nigerians , we cannot attribute these positive improvement to Jonathan or any person , but the collective will of Nigerian people.

Wether the protesters like it or not , Nigeria is the destination of several hundreds of billions of forieng money in investments. Please note the oyinbos were not begged to come and invest in naija , but believe me they have done their due diligence search before deciding to invest in naija.
These are the results of changing nigerian political and social climate , again is all due to Nigerians .

Some one might shout , the gains of investments are not getting to common man , yes not in the way we want yet anyway , but it shall get to everyone soon . Remember the investments of today are also for the coming generation , so please remember 'though shall not eat the seed' the fruits might not fully mature to our liking but the younger ones will benefit far more than we can imagine .

The handling of the security situation by Jonathan is in my opinion quite appropriate . People of naija descent are being implicated in terrorist activities in England and US , BK are bombing the whole of the northern naija !

That needs a very strong response , infact probably stiffer than presently applied .
The forieng investors don't like corruption , stealing etc , but they constantly say in close circles that that is understandable that in poor but very vibrant and ambitious society like nigeria there will be some corruption mainly due to widescale poverty in the presence of good brains!. So they will still invest and use our 'smartness' to their own advantage .Please note what i said does not imply condoning stealing and the rest , but poverty make people lose their dignity -fact !

it is so shameful to read what some people here in Nigeria  are writing bout the kidnapping episode. This is not funny , another person's life is at risk payment or no payment.
We are supposed to have one of the best values in Africa.Foriengners reading this will think we are a bunch of stupid and wicked people. The boko haram people we all condemn are no worse than people supporting these kidnappers  Mikel Obi is just an ordinary boy who was very lucky with his God given talent. He did not kill or steal to get into a good paying job. His family struggled to support him. The success of Mikel is not an excuse for kidnap and threat against his family. Im sure some of the people writing nonsense here also go to church and other places of worship. I believe 'we should weep with people who are weeping' is the admonition.
We all pray for success and we deserve to pray for such; none of us pray for disaster at the peak of success. FOR MIKEL AND HIS FAMILY ,THIS IS A DISASTER THREATENING TO ATTACK AT THE POINT OF SUCCESS.

Marriage will invariably come with its own challenges . I advise you to run from the obvious problems now. In as much as it might seem irrelevant now , such an act will forever haunt you.
