One of four Ogun teenagers arrested for roasting girlfriend’s head released

An Ogun State Magistrates’ Court sitting in Abeokuta, on Monday, discharged one of the four teenagers accused of killing and burning the head of the girlfriend to one of them for money rituals.

The teenagers, Balogun Mustakeem, Majekodunmi Soliudeen, Abdulgafa Lukman and Wariz Oladeinde, were earlier arraigned and remanded in the Oba Correctional Centre in the Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of the state for the murder of one Sofiat Oke-Owo.

They were arrested on January 28, 2022 at Oke-Aregba, Kugba, Abeokuta, after allegedly killing and severing Oke-Owo’s head. The victim was said to be Majekodunmi’s girlfriend.

Chief Magistrate I. O. Abudu discharged 17-year-old Oladeinde on legal advice received from the state Director of Public Prosecutions.

According to the chief magistrate, no charge was recorded against Oladeinde in the legal advice.

Abudu said he based his judgment on the investigation by the police, which proved Oladeinde’s innocence.

The prosecution had alleged that the four teenagers conspired to kill Oke-Owo.

The magistrate had remanded the teenagers in the correctional centre since February 3, pending the legal advice from the DPP.

Further hearing of the charges against the three remaining teenagers was adjourned till April 22.

Suspected Fulani Herdsmen Rapes And Kills 10-Year-Old Girl In Aiyetoro Town - [Warning: Video maybe graphic]

An unidentified 10-year-old girl was allegedly raped and killed by suspected fulani herdsmen in Aiyetoro town, about 35 km northwest of Abeokuta, a town in south-west part of Nigeria and the capital of Ogun State.

The accused who identified himself as Amodu was arrested by some members of the community a few hours after the crime and the whole scene was captured live on video.

The suspect, speaking in Hausa language admitted to the crime and said they were 3 of them that committed the dastardly act. He identified the other 2 of his accomplices as Sanusi and Mustapha, both of whom are on the run.

Rising Ritual Killings, Kidnapping, Rape Worry Ogun Assembly

The Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Olakunle Oluomo, Tuesday lamented the rising cases of ritual killings, kidnapping and cybercrime in the state.

No less than three cases of killings for money rituals were recorded in different parts of the state last month.

Oluomo, who spoke at the plenary, tasked movie producers to review the contents of their production to continually instil morals and peaceful co-existence.

He made the call while responding to the presentation of the lawmaker representing Sagamu 1 State Constituency, Abdul Bashir Oladunjoye, who presented the request of the theatre practitioners in the state to the assembly.

Oluomo challenged members of the public to remain vigilant and be watchful of suspicious persons and activities within their neighbourhood, with a view to giving timely and accurate information on crimes to the law enforcement agents.
Meanwhile, the assembly hinted of the plan to organise a school security summit as part of its efforts towards evolving strategies for crime control and prevention within the schools in the state.

Oluomo disclosed this during an advocacy visit by members of the National School Crime Prevention Corps led by its Commandant, Mr Ige Folayinka.
