nisai: Calm down, don't burst a neck vein. The facts are their. Yorubaland is the most developed place in Nigeria today by many indices according to stats. They could have move far ahead and left a wider gap between them and other regions though, and your agitation would have been much easier if not for the myopia of Azikiwe in 1953. Again, the Western region under the leadership of chief Awolowo was ahead in the first republic before your brothers struck again with myopia. If not, you shouldn't be the one crying for restructuring or secession today after plunging us into this mess from 1966.
What terrorism? After the annulment of the June 12 1993 election, there were protest and agitation done with good strategy and tactics. The result is 1999 presidency of Obasanjo. Also, the democracy day in Nigeria today is called Abiola day, June 12. Thsee are pointing to the intelligence, sophistication and smartness of the Yoruba. Learn pls learn!
Apart from Lagos, which others states in your region are actually developed? leave aside your "but Igbos troop in millions to yorubaland" rhetorics or some oluwole rubbish stats your brother in NBS concocted. Bring ace and tangible metrics to prove that states like Osun, Ondo, Ogun, and Oyo are developed.
AnanseK: The pictures have shown it and there are more Igbos in the North than there are in the East. Is it not foolish for them to attack Northerners?
If you can't bring any tangible evidence of the attacks on Northerners in the East, I'll advise you stop making your pathetic father proud by displaying your idiocy here.
OriakuAmara: oga I pray let it be truth we are doing the world a favour by wiping out those cursed hamites
Of course the report is fake, and why would you encourage the killings of innocent people? the Hausas are not our problem... we know who the real enemies are.
35824L: That's how Iboes plan to kill hausas and fulanis if they become president. Already they are pushing Peter Obi a known Ipob sympathizer to get into Aso Rock to do their bidding. The only thing iboes have to offer are hate, bile, corruption and secession. I am sure northerners are taking note of the killings by iboes.
Your Aare ona kakanfo Gani Adams masterminded the slaughter of hundreds of Hausas during this time as OPC leader... the memories are still fresh and the facts are sacrosanct. Yet he was rewarded with a high office and political sponsorships... you yaribanza pigs are the worst thing to happen to Nigeria when it comes to dishing out lies and propaganda. But you've met more than your match in Igbos, we're your medicine.
Oh... so I have to merely "travel" and probably sight-see the less developed areas in the North or East to form a conclusively proven theory as to which region is poorer than the other, according to your logic? Wow... I'll surely look to make this fact-finding trips soon then.
fulanimafia: The North West, North Central and less the devastation of BH, the North East.
Why else are you always screaming of marginalisation and abandonment by the FG?
This is not even a matter of debate my friend as I'm an informed witness.
You and Arrewa have been reeling out these assertions with not One single statistical proof... Are we going to go with the researched data provided by more credible bodies worldwide or what fulanimafia and Arrewa deduced as facts? honestly this is getting more tiring than I expected, abeg have a good day.
Arrewa: In terms of development... Kano alone is more developed than the entire south east put together.
Now that's a big take Ok make it easier for the sake of the conversation.... provide your facts to back up that assertion? I'm getting tired of your pointless drivels already.
fulanimafia: Honestly I think it's rather akin to flogging a dead horse because you will wield vague HDI statistics which hardly reflect the reality we see daily and is therefore unacceptable, and I will continue to emphasise the role of population which is clearly unacceptable to you as well in spite of the rationality of its argument.
However HDI aside, it is a fact that infrastructurally (Quality Roads, Bridges, Railways, Airports etc.) the East comes nowhere close to the North. I know this because I've been to both places, and very recently.
That said, I find this manhood measurement rather juvenile and vain glorious so I will rather pass.
Yet your postulations don't agree with all the statistical reviews which have placed your states per geopolitically on the lowest cadre (even with all the infrastructural advantages you listed). I mean even if we have to harp about infrastructures... don't forget the North has a larger landmass, arguably enjoys more federal allocations than the SE which has since the post civil war era remained the most disadvantaged and maligned region in Nigeria when its comes to Federal investments, allocations and projects in Nigeria. This isn't some " always playing the victims" narrative , but pure and undiluted facts. Majority of the infrastructures built in the East today were carried out by the Igbos themselves, with little or no government support including our own leaders... unlike your region that has always had to rely on the center for literally everything.
Arrewa: I refused to follow any southern propaganda!
I believe in observation!
I have traveled when to the south east and I can feel the presence of poverty and backwardness.
The plight of the millions of poor people in the south is hidden in the perception and the belief that poverty is a northern problem.
Another emotional response, no substance of factual submissions once again, surely we can't have a intelligent conversation. I recognize there exist poverty and backwardness in the SE as is the case nationwide, but we are talking about the proportionality here... if we have to do it the number ratio way, I would easily tell you that for every 5 poor and backward situations in the East... There are probably 20 more across the North. So we are still saying the same thing in essence--which is that there's no indices you can mention where the North is better than the SE, NONE whatsoever.
In reality the north is in every aspect more better than the south east.
Stop deceiving each with all these fake stats.
The north is today is far better than south east you can only deceive those that haven't been to the east
Your rebuttals unlike fulanimafia have mostly been emotive and devoid of measured inputs of facts. Let me posit the simple question to you as someone earlier challenged you to,
On what basis, aspects, indices (facts and figures) and metrics are the North "far better" than the SE? provide your facts through any researched contents available. It's within your prerogative to call the NBS stats fake etc, but lots of credible information from international bureaus done on Nigerias sustainability index, poverty stats etc have always highlighted how poorly the Northern states in all its geopolitical zones have fared compared to the SE. What other facts do you want to have?
helinues: Why are proscribed group defying government order?
BTW, is it not South East people that are informing the security forces about their activities?
Where's your proof that the South East people are the informants for the security forces? I'm not sure you've been to the East in recent times... if there was any support and sympathy for the security forces in the East in their "fights" against the Ipob organization, it has surely disappeared completely with the ways Igbo youths are been gunned down by your armed forces... many of the people killed in Enugu weren't even Ipob members, but innocent passer-bys minding their own business.
helinues: Why are proscribed group defying government order?
BTW, is it not South East people that are informing the security forces about their activities?
Go and proscribe the Fulani herdsmen and bandits ravaging your dear nation FIRST, Ipob is an organization that doesn't share in your ideology of One Nigeria... and they are well within their rights to believe in what they want to believe. Now shooting them continously albeit extrajudicially only exacerbates the situation, and it will get to the point where you will be required to enlist in the Nigerian army to fight for one Nigeria when it gets out of hand.
IamWonderful: I guess one of the criteria to be an IPODpig is to submit your brain to Kanu.
The video doesn't look like it was shot in Nigeria, the camo put on does not in anyway look like any Nigeria security operatives outfit.
The trucks also in the video doesn't look like our trucks here.
Also the ratio is unfair it is about ratio 1:120, people with gun are three and the other side people throwing stone are close to 800
The people attacked those with gun first
Even a half-wit can clearly tell from the intonation of the person making the video and the scenery of the environment that the incident took place in the East.
And its funny how you throw in the ration game now, seems like you are disappointed your armed heroes didn't just spray those boys with bullets right? I mean they seemed eager for engagement with the way they fearlessly advanced on the unarmed protesters with their guns blazing... seems like they got more than they bargained for this time.
helinues: If Kanu and Ipob members think they can blackmail FG by defying their order, then someone needs to wake them up from their slumber
It seems you're so enthusiastic about shooting at unarmed IPOB "terrorists", why not just make yourself useful by enlisting in the Nigerian Army so you fulfill your heart desires? seeing as your brave and well armed soldiers ran away like poor kittens when the "terrorists" charged at them... I'm sure you must wish you were the uniformed one with the gun right now.
fulanimafia: Illuminating the basis upon which the HDI statistics (which you base your "sorry state of their human development" on) are calculated, is not the same thing as justifying it.
The East, like the SS and other regions also suffer from poverty and underdevelopment (the baby harvesting, shops in toilet gutter, ritual killing, skull mining kind) but the numbers on HDI indexes (eg. Poverty, infant mortality) will always be lower than the North, because the very basis they are calculated (per capita), which is population, is also significantly higher in the North, even if we were to isolate any Northern sub region like the NW.
Considering that most of the states have similar federal allocations (with the core northern states receiving the least) and most states are only just beginning to focus on IGR, it is rational to expect that limited resources spread over a greater population will spread thinner. Not so?
These are facts, however I'm also aware that it's impossible to wake a person pretending to be asleep. Cheers.
I see and understand your points which you detailed articulately. But how can you explain the other telling factors (outside of the population and low federal allocation excuses you used) to explain the fact the Northern states for years now have continued to underperform in all the academic indexes despite having the lowest cut off marks for all their institutions? surely that's not a "population" or HDI type problem to use and underpin your explanations.
Your region has produced the more Presidents, legislators both at Federal and state levels, even Military rulers and definitely receive larger federal allocations than almost all states in the East (if I'm not mistaken), yet perform very poorly on the sustainability of basic standards of living... it's surely a problem beyond just the scope you preen with.
For those that care to listen, I'm officially announcing my retirement from tribalism and bigotry henceforth. Not only is it draining, pointless and toxic to my well being and self-growth, it has ended up tilting towards a more paradoxical twist in recent events in my life.
I've fallen in love with a Yoruba girl, met her at in my last semester of pharmacy school here in Texas, and e be like say na this girl I go marry... her parents absolutely love me and call me "Omo Ibadan", I was born in Ibadan. Sad thing is I wasn't born with hate, all my closest friends, neighbors, childhood besties etc back in Ibadan were Yorubas and they loved and accepted me like no other. My dad met Tai Solarin before he passed away and he motivated my dad to be a better man till his last days. For those who know the owner of Exide battery in Ibadan... he was my dad's closest friend. I'm still in contact with his family members till today.
Nairaland taught me hate and I can't make excuses for how pathetic I allowed myself to be misled by the hate that exists here.
This girl has been my light through my darkest moments in life, even when man no hold shingbain, she has been supportive and understanding through those tough college years... I'll say no more than this but I've found my peace and I'll protect that girl like a Queen that she is.
F**k tribalism, it can kick rocks! I'm done with Nairaland and it's toxicity for good. I wish you all ALL the best in your endeavors.
There are no indigenous Igbo speakers in Bonny, slavery brought the language there. Jaja and every others came as slaves there and served the indigenous people there
The highlighted is the very reason why a IQ check is seriously required for anyone that signs up to join Nairaland. There's no point even elaborating any further on your cluelessness and ianities.
Ritchiee: [s]You an old man, just making unwarranted noise in the face of facts. Most young Igbos reading this will know that you are a fake A failure.
Young Igbos reading this can open this thread and see that Yoruba have the largest number of indigenous industries both in Nigeria and abroad.Igbos do not even have half of it.
Jeff Bezos,Bill Gates, Jack Ma,etc.Just write their names and click and you will see their businesses.
Write their names.Let us compare who is better. Let us see your business people if they are even 1/10 of the Yorubas ' business people. Do not shame the young Igbos who are looking up to you o. Don't be a coward o
These are a few Yoruba business people who are billionaires. You can verify them. Give us your own sir.
These are Yorubas that have been very successful in business both at home and abroad.

[/s] Another long epistle of baseless rants replete with lack of facts and appreciably sound logic. Dude If I make a list of well known Igbo business tycoons who have a made a name home and abroad, it will easily rubbish that list of nobodies you painstakingly listed there , I'm not for the list compilation nonsense otherwise this thread no go contain both of us. Here are cognitively delivered facts/tweets from a sound Yoruba man who is honest enough to know his facts via research. You were never and will NEVER be a competition or form a worthy comparison anytime soon to the Igbos when it comes to commerce, business and industry. I have inundated you with facts of all the business and manufacturing industries homogeneously owned and controlled by the Igbos in the East, unlike the South West where the ownership of major firms and businesses are evenly distributed and not dominated by the Yorubas! even Ladipo has been taken over completely by the Igbos who have now displaced your brothers and forced them to wail and lament to Tinubu to come save them... if the Yorubas had anything or were anywhere close to having business acuity as you claim, they shouldn't be struggling so badly to dominate the Ibos even on their own turfs! you had your chance to completely displace the Ibos in the areas of commerce and business management skills after the Nigerian civil war when you flooded all the civil services, service and manufacturing sectors, economic auxiliaries, banks, corporations, markets etc with your brothers at the expense of the Ibos who were struggling due to severe post war anti-Igbo policies initiated by the government to cripple the Ibos for good... Ibos had to deal with the upheal task of getting back to all the mainstream nerve-centers of Nigeria, and we rolled up our sleeves and to the nitty-gritties of rebuilding with little or no support... you succeeded only for a short while, but the Ibos completely caught up and are now ahead of you however marginally in all the indices of achievements you can mention now.
Ritchiee: [s]Amen.Thanks.I like Igbo people because they are industrious just like the Yorubas and Hausas but they like to arrogate good things to themselves and malign others. They have been mouthing this business thing a long, long time that we have come to believe this fake belief.
We only look at their clustering in locations and the sudden takeover of a few places especially in Lagos, the commercial capital of Nigeria.
I did a research and wanted to know why Yorubas are said to be richer than the Igbos when we all believe that Igbos are economically more buoyant than all Nigerians.
I got to know that the clustering is one of the main thing that makes people think Igbos are in business more than anybody coupled with their large population in Lagos. They do the clustering in Aba,Onitsha too.
The final result of the research was that Yorubas are virtually participants in all the businesses dominated by Igbos and Igbos too are in the businesses dominated by Yorubas.
The places Igbos dominate are some markets in Lagos like Alaba,Ladipo,Trade fair,Computer village,Yaba etc. Yorubas too dominate Owode onirin,Pelewura,Oshodi,Lagos Island...Enu Owa,Balogun etc,Oja Oba,Ijora,Oyingbo etc.
As Igbos dominate phones,Generators,Electrical parts, spare parts, okrika, leather shoes, bags etc.
Yorubas too dominate Iron rods and steel,Poultry and feeds,Plastics,Cereals,Rubber shoes,Seafood,Woods and plywoods, glasses,Vehicles etc
The truth is that Yorubas are more resilient in business and have greater and better business acumen than the Igbos, they have higher spread, durability and mostly more successful but they do not have the population of the Igbo especially in petty businesses. All in all,Yorubas are better in business than the Igbos[/s].
Fantastic nonsense. How many businesses, manufacturing, production and service industries in the whole of the SW on a percentage basis are indigenously owned by Yorubas? all over Lagos, Ogun, Osun, Ondo, Ekiti states all the major major and petty businesses are either owned by Igbos or other Nigerians and foreign investors with few sprinklings of Yoruba owned businesses...major importers and distributors in Lagos ports are heavily populated by Igbos as well. Meanwhile Go to major industrial hubs like Nnewi, Aba, Onitsha, Akwa etc and see how Igbos monopolize and control 99% of commercial industries... Yet you have the guts to compare yourselves to Igbos? Lmaooo, simple task just conduct a poll or survey on social media and ask which tribe is best at commerce, economics and business in Nigeria... then come back and show me your result.
