TravelRe: DIY Guide To Australian Permanent Resident Visa - Part 2 by Bodacious1: 6:22am On Jan 31, 2020
Hello people,

I received the results of my ACS assessment this morning.

My first employment was assessed as suitable for all the years I worked there; however my second (and current) employment was deemed not assessable (reason - "due to insufficient documentation"). I have worked at my current job for almost seven years so I find this quite worrisome.

More so, I submitted the same kind of documentation (payslips, pension statements and bank account statements) for both employments. The only difference is I submitted a reference letter (written by HR on company letter head etc) for my first job, while I had to submit an affidavit for my current job because my employer explicitly informed me that they do not issue skills attestation letters.

What do you advise I do? Request a review or appeal from the ACS?

Also, please how many points does this educational qualification amount to: AQF Bachelor Degree with a Major in computing

In the meantime, I plan to first contact them via email regarding this result.

Thank you.

This is a lame response. Neither is it very smart.

I'm interested in knowing how life is like for Nigerians [specifically] who currently live in Melbourne. I am assuming this thread has such people, no?

Good advice you obviously need: Read to understand and not produce unhelpful comments.

What is it like as Nigerians living in Melbourne? The weather, accommodation, the people, jobs, social/cultural scene? etc

Rubbish comment from start to end, especially the part in bold - WHO CARES?? Rest please.

Abeg miss me with your mention, he won't understand my statement not until he start a white collar job or finish school if he's a student and enter the larger society, my statement was meant for the lady i quoted to free the op in order not to be seen as a hater, he will understand her statement later on. Making money doing casual jobs in Australia is nothing, i graduated from one of the most expensive school and i paid my fees without any external assistance likewise a lot of others, ask those that have migrated through PR or those that have concluded their studies, they will decipher the statement a quoted for you.

Thank you.

Your assessment result will state your degree AQF (if it's a bachelor's degree or Associate degree). Unilag BSc is a Bachelor's degree.

Not degree relevance. If I'm submitting an EOI today, how do I know what points my degree would result in? For clarity, I studied computer science at the university of Lagos and am assessing with ACS. Thanks. @tunlex01

[quote author=tunlex01 post=85832546]I did not get your question.

Were you referring to relevancy of degree to occupation? Sociology and IT can never be related likewise

Perhaps you were referring to the classification of universities into Tier 1 or 2? That's done by Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS).
TravelRe: DIY Guide To Australian Permanent Resident Visa - Part 2 by Bodacious1: 3:25pm On Jan 15, 2020
Ok thank you. One thing I need to clarify is: who determines the points for (relevant) university qualification?

tunlex01:
ACS deducts between 6-8 l years of experience when you have a lesser or non relevant qualification
TravelRe: DIY Guide To Australian Permanent Resident Visa - Part 2 by Bodacious1: 2:11pm On Jan 15, 2020
Pls explain what you mean by the boldened text. Thanks

tunlex01:
It does not seem you have enough years for ACS to deduct. Give Canada a shot.

This is really good news. I submitted my documents for assessment with the ACS just before Christmas and hope for a favourable outcome.

Good news for Vetassess and ACS Applicants.

Thank you. I've also read the ACS guidelines but needed to be doubly sure. Also, I've been searching for sometime now but want to confirm from those with more experience. Can I use IELTS academic or must it be general?

ogbevireo:
Good morning.
Go to the ACS website and get first hand details for anything you need to submit to them. They have detailed guides for every transaction you will have with them.

No, you will not attach a passport photo to a declaration.

Thank you so much.

Did you also assess with the ACS?
Also must bank statements be stamped & signed by the bank or not?

No, it doesn't have to be addressed to ACS. You can use to Whom it may concern but ensure all the information requested is captured.
TravelRe: DIY Guide To Australian Permanent Resident Visa - Part 2 by Bodacious1: 4:06pm On Dec 03, 2019
Hello,

I am currently in the process of conducting a skills assessment with the ACS. Must the employment reference letters be addressed to the ACS?

I am asking because I would prefer not to raise unnecessary questions (and do not want to use the statement of declaration route).

Would appreciate responses especially form anyone who has recently been assessed by the ACS. Thanks in advance.
