You can't expect a country that claims to be a republic with an elected president and elected members of parliament, but still has an 85-year-old man as its supreme leader, not to be funny. I still don't understand the rationale behind how and why the sovereignty of a big and old country like Iran should reside in one man.

I think it's the religion. The religion forbids Iran from possessing nukes. Islamic law prohibit environmental damage, destruction of agriculture, earth and generation and there's also this strong belief that the innocent ought not to suffer with the guilty and nuke doesn't differentiate between the innocent and guilty.
