This is the opportunity for wailers to say there is no war against corruption, which is a lie. I agree the aggressiveness isn't enough but to say there is none is foolhardiness. If there isn't one, Patience Jonathan, Diezani, Amosu, etc wouldn't be forfeiting cash and property every now and then. The withdrawal of this case against Danjuma Goje is a huge setback for the anti-corruption campaign and it shows the selfishness of our politicians and the docility of the Nigerian populace. Politicians now use their crimes (not achievements) as bargaining chip. This is one of the major drawbacks of democracy, the usurpation of the loopholes in the law to get away with crimes. Apologies don't atone for misdemeanours like this. There is the need to prosecute this thug of a Senator and he should pay heavy damages for assault. Asides this, the Senate must suspend him for some legislative days and he must be an executive of any Senate Committee. |
