Former Governor of Anambra state and chieftain of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) this evening defected to the ruling People's Democratic Party, PDP. He made his decision known after a meeting with members of the South East zone of the PDP at his residence in Onitsha, Anambra state.

Speaking through his media aide this evening, Mr Obi who said his defection was to enable him become a competitor and not a spectator in national affairs. The former governor had maintained for a while now that he will not seek any further elective position.

The leaders of the PDP South East zone visited the former governor at his Onitsha residence where he made the announcement.The leaders were led by the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekwerumadu, Deputy Speaker, Emeka Ihedioha, Secretary to Federal Government, Sen. Pius Anyim Pius.

The picture above is that of Olu-Ibukun Koye ,the Nigerian diplomat working for ECOWAS, who escaped quarantine in Lagos and left for Port Harcourt .

He was one of the first who made contact with Liberian Patrick Sawyer. Olu then defied instructions and ran to Port Harcourt to meet late doctor Iyke Enemuo who treated him in a hotel. Shortly after he was treated,he returned to Lagos where he was certified Ebola free.Ironically, Dr Iyke fell ill and died. His wife opened up and his corpse which was taken to a mortuary was tested positive for Ebola.

The late doctor's wife who is infected too is quarantined in Lagos. She has a 3 month old baby. According to reports,Olu may face manslaughter charges.

U.S. general was killed and more than a dozen people were wounded, including a German general, in the latest insider attack by a man believed to be an Afghan soldier, U.S., German and Afghan officials said on Tuesday.

The slain general, whose identity was not immediately released by the Pentagon, was believed to be the most senior U.S. military official killed in action in Afghanistan since the war there began in 2001.

Pentagon spokesman Rear Admiral John Kirby told reporters that "many were seriously wounded" and the gunman was killed in the attack, which took place on Tuesday at the Marshal Fahim National Defense University, a training center in Kabul.

The attack raised fresh questions about the ability of NATO soldiers to train and advise Afghan security forces as western nations gradually withdraw. The U.S. and German generals were on a routine visit, the Pentagon said.

A U.S. official said the gunman fired on the foreign soldiers using a light machinegun. Afghanistan's Defense Ministry described him as a "terrorist in army uniform."

The German military said its general was one of 14 coalition troops wounded in Tuesday's attack. It said his life was not in danger. Seven Americans and five British troops were among the wounded, an Afghan official said.

Past insider attacks have eroded trust while straining foreign efforts to train Afghanistan's 350,000-strong security force and prepare them to fight the Taliban once most U.S. and NATO forces depart.

U.S. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel spoke by phone with General Joe Dunford, who commands U.S. and international troops in Afghanistan, about the incident, Kirby said. He said the shooting was being investigated jointly by Afghan authorities and the international military coalition that is winding down its long mission in Afghanistan.

The Afghan president was quick to condemn the attack, saying the delegation had been visiting the facility to help build Afghanistan's security forces.

Dancehall music star Burna Boy who signed a recording deal with Aristokrat in 2011 is looking at launching his own company at the start of 2014.



Problem ensued when his debut album ‘ L.I.F.E ’dropped in August 2013. Burna Boy wasn’t pleased with the way the label handled the marketing and release of the album.
Contrary to reports earlier published, Burna did NOT get a N10m upfront payment for the album. The artiste feels the label should have done better.

According to TheNETng, Burna Boy was arrested by London Police back in 2010 for allegedly being part of a gang and stabbing someone to death. He was tried as a minor and sent to jail.

After 11 months, he was released and given two months parole plus community service on the grounds of being of ‘good behaviour’. But Burna is said to have disobeyed authorities and travelled back to Nigeria where he signed a record deal with Aristokrat.

He later travelled back to the UK but was arrested at the airport and deported to Nigeria. He is currently barred from the UK for the next 15 years.

According to a reader who sent this photos, heavily armed robbers shot dead two people and injured two during a robbery operation at Mbanugo bus stop in Enugu.

The robbers opened fire on the MTN driver killing him on the spot and they made away with an undisclosed amount of money and some unsold recharge cards.

Another victim, a tri-cyclist simply identified as Praise was shot in the head while trying to run away from the scene of the robbery.

Two people were also said to be injured in the operation.

A 46-year-old woman, Mrs. Eunice Titilayo Ogundele, has been murdered after allegedly being r*ped by yet to be identified persons, at Igede Ekiti, weekend.

According to the husband of the deceased, Mr. Michael Ogundele, his wife left home in the early hours of Friday for a church service at her pastor’s residence.

He said she was allegedly hit with a pestle on the head by her assailants on the way.

“Yesterday (Thursday) which was a market day, she went to the market and returned home to rest.

“This morning (Friday), we went our different ways after I opened the door a little after five o’clock. She left for an early morning church service at her pastor’s residence.

“We went our separate ways at Igede-Ado road. I did not know I was seeing her for the last time. Few minutes to six they called me to come to somewhere in the town. I went and met my wife dead with two deep wounds on her head,” Mr Ogundele said amid tears.

Confirming the incident, Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr. Victor Olu Babayemi said a suspect has been arrested and is making confessions.

“I can confirm that someone is now in custody in respect of the r*pe and murder of a woman at Igede Ekiti and is making useful confessions.

“We are trying to see if other arrests could be made in the course of the investigation which is ongoing,” Babayemi said.

Great Nigeria Insurance House located at 47-57Martins Street, the building directly opposite Oluwole New Plaza, Lagos is presently gutted by fire. The people woke up this morning to see the fire coming out from one of the offices in the building.
