Nairaland GeneralThis Why Most us are not Creative by Bonejr(op): 11:55pm On Feb 19, 2017
Today am back with some tips on how to be creative.
According to Gillmartin in 1999 "critivity is the basic building block of invention and thus innovation.''
Looking at the challenges presented to us by the current world situation it demands that every member of this global village should be creative in thinking. Everyone will like to put something in his life that will keep him alive even after his death.
To have that creative mind one should have the ability to think more than the average man. And to have that critical thinking capacity you should develop a broad base of knowledge. This knowledge base include information on your discipline in areas science or technology and areas of psychology and philosophy to have some logic.
But the handles come because of the following points which one has to break:
1. Habits- we all have some old habits which we need to change, modify or discard. for one to be creative he need to think outside the box
2. Fear of making mistakes- one needs to understand that as human are prone to make mistakes, but the good part of it is what should we do after making mistakes. We must be daring in our lives, and in case we err we should learn from our mistakes, that is we should be curious about how the mistake occur and try to find out the ways to prevent them from reoccurring and find a solution to them. Only a hungry mind grows
3. Tradition - Because one or more people had been doing it in a way doesn't mean we have to follow it that way. To be creative in my life we have to break some rules. Following routines doesn't guarantee us from not making mistakes. Try to find new and exciting ways of doing things different from others
4. Comfort with the status quo - nothing good grows in a comfort zone, always try to be uncomfortable ina comfort zone because good things doesn't happen on themselves, we need to get up and put down something to get something up.
5. Using meaningless routines and rituals - you can believe with me that we have been been using things in such a way that we can't deduce meaning out it, why not we try to do it in a way that we understand and give it meaning?
6. Rigid mindset - yes we have that rigid mindset in our minds that we believe we can't change, people especially in Africa are resistant to change. But everyone believes and see that things are changing always. The rule here should be if you can't change a situation why not change yourself, I believed once we change the the way we view this world even for a second we can be able to some good things.

PoliticsRecession. What Is The Lesson? by Bonejr(op):
My previous post on youth & change for national development had stimulated me to write this one again. In these topics I talk about how we can help in bringing about the change, but unfortunately many youth are gripped in sins and vices.
Going with the current slogan “Change begin with me” Every Nigerian youth is the ambassador of change, in English they said "if you cannot change a situation you are challenged to change yourself" as youths we are blessed with exceptional talent, if we used it in a right direction good things will surely come.
If we take a look at our fore fathers they have more contentment in their poverty than we have in our wealth today that is why they sleep better in their hut than we sleep in the hotels.
There is this fire of sin that crossed the world. We have learned in our religious scriptures that whenever sin will become very common among people a divine trials, challenges and crisis will descend on them. Looking at the situation in our country corruption and deception had become so common and trivial in the eyes of people. Many youth envy corruption, they look at political and government thieves as role models, this makes it possible that when one leader left the one who will take over from him will do worse than him.
The nature of this crisis is such that it spread on the land and sea not minding the perpetrators and the noble ones. In essence everybody is feeling for himself.
Hence one American writer said it beautifull "we are nation who are blessed and burdened by our valued system" the very source of our income contributed to vices in our society. Has is not the same situation in Nigeria today?
With a painful tear in my eye today in Nigeria we are facing a crisis of who will police the police, judge the judges and guard the guardians.
What is Your Role as an Individual Citizen?
Briefly the role of you and I are:
1. Fear of God - inculcate the fear of God Almighty in everything you do. Do good anyway you will never regret. In English they said as human we cannot be sinless rather we can sin less. Try to avoid sins of adultery and fornication as their consequences are very destructive.
2. Give Charity – no matter how small don’t underestimate the power of giving charity. We are familiar with all this quotes “givers never lack” but do you know that giving charity (especially secretly) diverts calamity?
3. Pray – In respective of your faith never seize to pray for the betterment of this country. Prayer is a sword of a believer.
4. Mind your words – stop communicating evil about people especially the rulers, some people have venom in their in their tongues. Speak what is good anyway and always be optimistic.
5. Seek Knowledge – both western and religious knowledge are very important, try and strike a balance between the two your life will be great and blessed. The knowledge will also help you to admonish people when see them doing wrong (one sin can afflict the world).
The last thing I also want to touch is our role as business men. Last two days a senior friend was speculating something saying that is better civil servants not ask for salary increment because once a Naira is added to their salary everything will double its price in the market. As a business man/woman always remember these:
1. Have mercy on your costumers
2. Small profit is better than bigger interest
3. Be honest to those you deal with
4. Remember wealth is in contentment not in money
CareerRe: Teachers! How To Get Your Respect Back by Bonejr(op): 11:21am On Oct 22, 2016
anonimi:
Forget all this your long story.
Save your powerless empty grammar o jare!
Why should any reasonable Nigerian respect any useless teacher?
Yes, very useless teachers. That is what WE have made them to be! angry undecided cry
If they are not useless and our society has not made them useless, why would a 25 year old who only needs to have ATTENDED secondary school be paid N300,000 as an ordinary LGA Councillor who does nothing while a teacher hardly gets up to N15,000 huh
Was that the COMPARATIVE gap in salaries between these two categories of workers for the SAME government in the 1st Republic before stupid Nzeogwu did his first military coup that opened the door for our collective defilement by senseless, illiterate zombie soldiers?
Is this the COMPARATIVE salary gap in the UK, Canada, USA etc where many Nigerians are happily teaching their oyinbo children?

CareerTeachers! How To Get Your Respect Back by Bonejr(op): 9:56am On Oct 20, 2016
We live in a situation today where students disrespect their teachers. Tap any teacher today and let him pour his heart out of crisis they will tell you different stories in which disrespect is very common now, they will also tell you their fears on what will happen tomorrow.
You and I have heard many stories where teachers are being attacked physically or psychologically. Teachers are now being attacked from every angle. Imagine a teachers’ vehicle being destroyed by his students in a school, imagine a teachers’ motorcycle being broken with pierced tyres, the story continued so on and so on. . .
Just like the saying “When you cannot change a situation you are challenged to change yourself”, what can you do as a teacher in this era how can you earn respect, how can you take yourself back to the glory days?
Like the way I love it, am going to be as brief as possible. I don’t have to convince with several points that respect is earned not gained. The following experimented points of mine could help teachers earned respect:
1. Know yourself- as a teacher you need to know who you are, know your value and responsibilities, master your area of speciality (know what you are teaching very well), respect your senior teachers. Be your students star or celebrity, let them see you as their model.
2. Communication- this is an important tool of a teacher, the success of your work on a teacher depends on how well you can communicate. Do not create a wider communication gap between you and your students, know your students very well (including their nature, level of experience and background). Do not communicate any bad or condescending remarks on your students. My teacher once told us that communication between the junior and senior is successful when the senior come down to the level of the junior so that they can move on the same pace.
3. Fairness- this means as a teacher give every student of yours equal attention and treatment. Let every member of your students know they are important to you that their success is all your pleasure, this will create confidence in the mind of your students.
4. Reformative punishment- as violent physical punishment is now being wiped in our schools. But how do we punish them? Before you punish any student of yours let him know that he has committed an offence, let his colleagues also know it. The next thing you can do is either to reprimand him, admonish him or punish him. One they know they have wronged they will accept punishment and will try to avoid it next time.
5. Modesty- as a teacher it is duty to display modesty and a good conduct, why because you mould the character of your students. Imagine you are telling them the right thing but you are not doing right. Avoid any situation of accusation. You are the guardian of your students their moral protection. Try to avoid single interaction especially with female students, interact either with the group or the whole class.
