Lol...... You shouldn't sound like that. It isn't the case that a culture must always influence another when it comes into contact with it. The influence might be mutual, or one-sided, and as long as it isn't sinister, there is no reason to reject it. How would it be if Nigeria were to discard Western Culture wholesale? Any culture at all is acceptable, and should be acceptable, as long as it doesn't impede development. There is no reason at all to be conservative. Your major concern seems to be the possibility of our languages going extinct. Well, many languages and cultures have died throughout history and Armageddon didn't take place. Although, I recognize that it is important for a people to have a culture and an identity, but one shouldn't be so engrrossed in cherishing such attachments that he defines himself solely by them and makes them the hallmark of his existence. There certainly are more important things than those, especially in our Nigeria which is on the precipice of collapse, and THEY COME FIRST. It's these same cultures and languages that are the major cause of division between us which has made our country into the shiithole it is. A population is inherently divided and lacking in unity of purpose, to go by Spenglerian terminology. A population obeys the particular will rather than the general will, while a people is united, obeying the general will. Nigeria is what it is because it is made up of a population NOT a people. Only a united people with common purpose obeying a general will can achieve great things.

Dividing students into classrooms along TRIBAL LINES just so that they can be taught in their native languages would be catastrophic for our country.

This is how they started with garri! Now it is the turn of yams. Before a country think about exporting its staple food stuff she must think of food self-sufficiency back home.

We are talking of yams export now at a time the price of Garri have risen to an all time high of N1,000 Nigerian naira per a basket. Garri and yams are the staple food of the Nigerian masses especially in the Southern part of Nigeria where garri and yams is highly consumed.

We have gone out of our ways to teach the indians and chinese the secret of venturing into our local staple food such as garri and yams.

The indians now help us to package our garri and the Chinese are entering into our yam market. At the same time we are suffering from hunger back home.

I think the federal government priority as explained by the Minister of Agriculture is misplaced. We need to develop our Agriculture to ensure food sufficiency before thinking of exporting to the international market.

Not too long ago the Nigerian custom intercepted package yam porridge, package moi moi, package Ogbono soup, package egusi soup being brought into Nigeria through the country borders. These are threat to our food security as a nation. Efforts must be put in place by the respective federal government regulatory agency to curb the importation of our local food product which come into the country as package food.

The United States, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Malaysia, Australia, etc have all achieve food sufficiency in their respective countries before thinking of exporting to the outside world. But it is not the case with Nigeria.

There is hunger in the land. Therefore, we must have enough to eat back home at a cheaper price before exporting to Overseas.

I think President Buhari need visionary minister and aides to advise him and not clueless person like Minister Audu Ogbeh.
