It is not as it seems. What happens is that after they have finished obtaining you, your in-laws to be would now tell you their daughter is not for sale. They would now request the small bride price and in some instances return small back to you. The N300 returned to Mr Ike is a minute fraction of what he spent during the marriage rites.
