Education › Re: Let Us Support Government To Fight ASUU by Bontafa: 10:14pm On Sep 10, 2022
edogu:
After giving the federal government of Nigeria 14-month strike notice (December 2020 – February 14, 2021), the Academic Staff Union of Universities asked her members to stop teaching to force government to be responsible in the funding of public universities and sign a renegotiated agreement with the Union. This was after the President Muhammadu Buhari (PMB) government had failed to meet set timelines in the Memoradum of Action (MOA) his government signed with the Union on December 22, 2020. After the government failed to meet the timelines, ASUU, through his immediate past president, Professor Biodun Ogunyemi wrote the Chief of Staff to President Buhari on March, 3, 2021 to complain how the office of Accountant General of the Federation had been frustrating the Union and her members even after submitting the demanded documents. The Union warned that not meeting the MOA agreements may stoke tension and threaten industrial harmony. The government kept playing the Union and this forced the Union to declare total and indefinite strike on August 29, 2022 after six-month strike roll-over.

How did we get here and do Nigerians care where and how their children are taught? After the Goodluck Jonathan administration conducted the 2012 Needs Assessment which showed the rot in Nigeria’s public universities, federal government resolved to provide funds for the revitalization of the University system for six years totaling N1.3trillion. The amount was arrived at by government team which carried out the exercise and not ASUU as government would want the public to believe. It was designed to be paid for six years as follows: 2013 (200billion), 2014 (220billion), 2015 (220billion), 2016 (220billion), 2017 (220billion), 2018 (220billion). After the strike, the Jonathan administration released the first tranche of 200billion in 2013. Politics consumed 2014 and Universities got no revitalization funds. Entered Muhammadu Buhari in 2015 and for seven years, the administration has only released N50billion out of 220billion meant for 2014 tranche! The Union had agreed with PMB that since the government claimed it cannot release 220billion once, it should pay 55billion quarterly and end it in a year but this government failed again! The N50 billion that was paid was not even released once and it took strike threats for them to pay. The Buhari government is now saying the balance of 170billion will be in 2023 budget and implemented around May 2023.

ASUU gave government ample time to act but power intoxication would not let those in the corridors of power salvage the country’s education system. The government which owes lecturers over eight years verified arrears of earned academic allowances is now saying the amount will be put in 2023 budget and will be paid in 2023. On this item alone, this government and the current National Assembly appealed to the Union and promised to put the earned academic allowances in the 2022 budget. They failed to do so

With regard to the renegotiated agreements, government left democracy and came to the table with autocracy and expected the Union of intellectuals to be bullied into jettisoning collective bargaining. Government awarded salaries that will make a professor who has spent 10 years and above have additional N60,000 to the current miserable salary of a Nigerian professor (N416,000) which is not up to $1000. In 2009 when the agreement being renegotiated was signed, the value of what a professor earned was around $3000. The 2009 agreement detailed how ASUU sacrificed a better African average salary for a lower salary scale (Table II) based on the plea by government that the economy cannot support that competitive salary. The report says that “the Re-negotiation Committee noted that Nigerian University Academics represent the critical mass of scholars in the society, with the potential for transforming it. They, therefore, deserve unique condition of service that would motivate them, like the intellectuals in other parts of the world, to attain greater efficiency and effectiveness in service delivery with regard to teaching, research and community service, and thereby stem the brain drain. In line with this philosophy, the Re-negotiation Committee obtained information relating to the movement of Nigerian Academics to other African countries such as South Africa, Ghana, Botswana as well as developed countries. The figure in Table 1 relevant African average that is, the average remuneration of Academics in selected African countries with which Nigeria potential or effectively competes for the recruitment of Academic Staff.” It was said that future negotiations of salaries would begin from Table 1, which government said the economy cannot pay then. But now, government is saying no to negotiations. You either take N60,000 or forget it. Even as bad as this autocratic imposition is, its implementation too will be next year after elections. Peace eludes a nation that elevates injustice as norm, it deprives them of development and breeds violence and corruption as a way of life.

I think Nigerians are happy that lecturers in polytechnic and colleges of education earn more than public university lecturers in Nigeria. Despite being poorly remunerated, public university lecturers teach more because not less than 80 percent of those writing JAMB yearly prefer university education. Universities (and not polytechnic and colleges of education) are rated and ranked globally. Nigerians who think ASUU is fighting a wrong cause should no longer complain that Nigerian universities rank poorly globally. They should not blame the quality of graduates being churned out because they do not think there is need for revitalization of public universities. They are only interested in their wards passing through universities without the universe in the university passing through them. They should not think students trained in zoo-like conditions will behave like normal humans when they graduate. In fact, when such becomes political office holders, they will see no reason to invest in public education and the consequences will be further erosion of the universe in our universities using the world of renowned poet, Professor Niyi Osundare. Our best will leave as they have been doing and we will infest the ivory towers will politicians!

Professor Niyi Osundare’s valedictory lecture entitled “The Universe in the University: A Scholar-poet’s Look from Inside Out” provides response to those asking for commodification of public universities. According to him, “A University cannot be run like a money-spinning business or corporation and be expected to still retain the soul and sense of Academe. Harassed by budget cuts by a Nigerian government that pays little more than a lip service to education, our university is being forced to look for funds in every which way. While it must be admitted that some departments are in a better position to generate outside funds than others, any attempt to commodify education and commercialize the disciplines can only lead to further undermining of the universe in our university. Time, we realize that a university can never be run as a cost-effective corporation. There are simply certain forms of knowledge that cannot be judged on their market value. (Niyi Osundare, July 26, 2005)”.

I have taken time to provide insight into the ‘futuristic awards’ of the Muhammadu Buhari government in relation to ASUU demands and from this, it is apparent that this government has met nothing. The government salvaged Airlines with millions of dollars without saying it will be put in 2023 budget. Education is our future. We cannot afford further decay beyond what it is. We cannot joke with the welfare of our lecturers. We wont advance if we keep electing ‘Londoners’ who don’t believe in the country but poised to milk it. I will end this piece with the words of then opposition spokesman and now Minister of Information, Lai Muhammed whose speeches then have now become ‘talk is cheap’. In 2013 (Daily Post, August 21, 2013), Lai Muhammed as the National Publicity Secretary of APC said while reacting to ASUU strike: “What we are saying is that if the federal government would reduce its profligacy and cut waste, there will be enough money to pay teachers in public universities, as well as fund research and upgrade infrastructure in such institutions. Hungry teachers can neither teach well nor carry out research. And poorly-taught students can neither excel nor propel their nation to great heights.” Now in government, has this government reduced waste and cut profligacy? Has this government upgraded infrastructure and funded cutting edge researches? Is the government not asking lecturers to receive poverty wage and return to teach? Can poorly taught students excel and propel Nigeria development as being championed by this government? Ladies and gentlemen, let us support government to fight ASUU.

Politics › Re: I Started Doubting Buhari’s Smartness After Our 1984 Encounter – Oyelade by Bontafa: 11:13am On Sep 10, 2022
iwaeda:
The Chairman of the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State, Dotun Oyelade, who clocked 70 years on Friday, tells OLUFEMI OLANIYI about his growing up, career and related issues

How was your growing up like?

I knew I was going to be a journalist as early as 1962 when I was 10 years old. My colleagues would gather round me, wanting to hear stories about exotic and strange places like Pakistan, Britain, Alaska and Iceland. I was an avid reader and read so many books; I was a constant feature at the only public library in Ogbomoso. My life was cut out for me very early and I pursued it vigorously.

In 1972 when I was 20 years old, I had an interview with a former Nigerian football captain, Sam Opone. He came to Ibadan then, he was getting to the twilight of his career. He came to the 2 Division Nigerian Army in Ibadan to lead their football team and that was when I had the opportunity to interview him. After I cobbled the story together, a gentleman, Jide Orimogunje, who was the Sports Editor of the Daily Sketch, was so surprised that a young man of my age could write with such graceful eloquence. That was the word he used and that kindled my self-confidence.

Were you already working as a journalist then?

No, I wasn’t. However, when I was in my last year in secondary school, I wrote essays and pasted them on the board for pupils to admire.

Which school was that?

I attended Ogbomoso High School. One day, our English language teacher, Mrs Dahunsi, of blessed memory, took a look at one of my essays and wrote on it, ‘superfluous’. That was the first time I came across that word and I checked it up in the dictionary. Under the circumstance, it wasn’t complimentary but I took it in my stride and I moved forward. That was how I got into journalism and I later chose broadcast journalism as my forte.

Did you work for Daily Sketch?

No, I was just a freelancer from outside. I joined NTA Ibadan in 1977 and after that I was sent to the BBC College and while there, I won the star prize in News Scripting and Television Documentary. There is this popular park in London called the Hyde Park. I did a report on the stream there and named it ‘The Serpentine’ because it is curvy like a snake. That report fetched me the prize.

I had no doubt in my mind that if I was going to write a book that has to do with myself, it would not be a book about where I come from but about my ability and experience as a journalist. That is why the book I just authored, ‘Dotun Oyelade Reporting,’ is so unique because I cited verifiable personal experiences since 1972 when I first wrote the story on Sam Opone and all the experiences I had during my illustrious career in the book.

Daily Sketch was very interesting then; the newspaper was what they called the broadsheet. It was double the size of The PUNCH now. In the book, I concentrated mainly on my enterprise as a broadcast journalist. I came across so many personalities like General Olusegun Obasanjo; General Yakubu Gowon; Odimegwu Ojukwu, my good friend, and others. I was one of the first journalists to reach Lagos and get to the scene in Dele Giwa’s living room on the day (he was killed by a parcel bomb) in spite of the fact that I was working with the Television Service of Oyo State. When I got there with my cameraman, I saw vividly what happened. I saw fresh blood already clotting, I saw the mangled typewriter, mangled furniture and human flesh and my cameraman recorded it. For a week after the incident, I was reporting blow-by-blow account of how he died, why possibly he was killed, his family members and so on.

Also, when Papa (Obafemi) Awolowo died, some of the things that people never knew, which no newspaper has ever scooped, are in my book because I was in his bathroom.

I met so many personalities and even Lawrence Anini ( notorious armed robber) became my friend during his trial. The police had to warn me to stop hobnobbing with him. Anini was always calling me ‘Baba Ibadan’.

Was Anini sober during his trial?

He was not sober at all. There was a time he refused to let anybody take his photograph and he vowed that if he ever got out of detention, he would kill a particular reporter. But he never got out; he was executed with others. I was the only one he allowed to cover him generously. The other guy also, Monday Osunbor, allowed me. At that time, many newspapers would quote what we reported at TSOS and used them as their headline. That was what was happening and that shows how good TSOS was.

How did you feel the first time you read the news?

I was a broadcast reporter, I never read the news. I would have been a disaster if I tried that. I know my area of strength and I focused on it. In the book, I described my early days at NTA Ibadan. I started there in August 1977. The late Chief Bola Ige established TSOS to counter the NTA, a federal establishment that was one-sided politically. The station was established around March 1982 and it flourished.

Will you say journalism has been rewarding to you?

I don’t have to think twice before answering capital yes. Without journalism, there is nothing in this world that I could have done that would have been very interesting to me. It has been very rewarding to me. Spiritually, physically and economically, it has been rewarding to me. I have served under three governors in Oyo State. I served Uncle Lam Adesina; I was not only his private secretary and private adviser, I also wrote all his public statements and addresses throughout his four-year office term. I also wrote his acceptance speech in May 1999. I served the late Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala, who was my schoolmate in primary and secondary schools way back in Ogbomoso.

He was a year my senior in primary school before he went to Ghana but we became classmates in secondary school. We attended Osupa Baptist Day School. So, when he became the governor, I served him as Special Adviser on Public Communications, which is journalism-related. With Engr. Seyi Makinde now, I was his first nominee to lead his media campaign. That was in January 2018 and I worked in that office until he won the election the following year. He appointed me as the Chairman of the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State. He believed I would be very useful to his administration and to the people of Oyo State in this area. Uncle Lam Adesina thought so too. As his private secretary, he made me to double as the executive officer of the same because. They recognised me as a broadcast manager.

How would you describe Alao-Akala since you were his classmate at some point?

He was one of the most extroverted persons I have met in my life. He had a lot of people around him and he was a very generous person; he loved life and he enjoyed life. He was successful as a governor mainly because of his love to see people happy. In certain regards, we are direct opposite of each other. While I am a little bit reticent, he was the very opposite. A very nice man.

You said he was nice and generous and he loved to see people happy. What will you say was responsible for his electoral defeat in 2011?

If you read my book, I stated reasons why I would not dabble into politics now. I will do that at the fullness of time. I believe that regurgitating my professional experience will be far more useful to the younger ones than anything else. At 70, I want to be a mentor, a professional mentor, a family mentor and I believe strongly in the sanctity of marriage. I am not going to talk about those governors I served now. The time is not ripe for that because I am still in government.

What do you think about the way social media has disrupted the old way of journalism practice?

It’s awesome; it’s enormous and it could be used for ‘black’, just as it could be used for ‘white’. When deployed positively, it can assist journalism in a very effective way. It is so efficient in getting views of the people out there. Although some people use it for nefarious activities, I am an advocate of its existence and establishment and it can only help in the end, just as it is helping now. However, the dark areas have to be addressed.

How do you suggest those areas be addressed?

By providing stiff penalties for those who spread deliberate falsehood to justify their interests; stiff penalties must be applied to anyone who violates the laws there. It is the bane of a great country like Nigeria; things are upside down because people are not made to answer for their actions. I hate citing the so-called developed societies because we know their inadequacies too. But if we start from a simple thing like punishing anybody who throws out a pet bottle or paper on the road or while driving, there will be a great change. If they are put in jail or fined, such things will stop; and if those involved in lesser offences are not spared, those involved in criminal activities will know that there is no place to hide.

Cast you mind back to 1984/85 when Muhammadu Buhari and Tunde Idiagbon came to power with all their garbage, they showed us an idea of toughness and people were apprehended and punished for little offences. This made people to sit up and you could see Nigerians in queues at bus stops and there was orderliness during their short stay in power. That is not to say they were angels, they were not. I have always told people that General. Buhari does not possess a quarter of the attributes that people falsely and conveniently attributed to him. No, he doesn’t.

Why do you say that?

I was one of the few journalists, who, in January 1984, immediately after they came to power, asked him questions at what they called a ‘World Press Conference’ at the Dodan Barracks in Lagos. That was a week after they sacked the administration of President Shehu Shagari from power. Shagari’s government was sacked via a coup on December 31, 1983. We had the privilege of asking him the first set of questions. I remember Tunde Thompson was there, Chris Okolie, Nduka Irabor and some other journalists were there. I asked him: ‘Now that you have taken over from a democratically elected civil administration, do you feel any sense of remorse?’ General Buhari could not utter a word. It was Tunde Idiagbon, who was by his side, that brushed aside my question. That day, I began to wonder if Buhari was as smart as he was said to be. Here we are today; I don’t want to dabble in politics, I want to continue my life as an author and a biographer. I have written 10 books and one of my recent books is a book on Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh, one of the past Chiefs of Defence Staff. I was playing golf and a call came in and the caller introduced himself to me and we started talking. I told him that I would complete his biography in one year and I did. He loved it, his family members and others love it,

What do you do now?

I do contract publishing and I am not doing badly. That is aside my job as the Chairman of because.

The media has been blamed for the growing immoralities and crimes like Internet fraud and ritual killings. What is your take on this?

The media has nothing to do with these and should not take the blame for those criminal activities. The media is just performing its roles. Ritual killing is a grandchild of government neglect of its duties. Anytime a government neglects its core duties, the peasants and the commoners are the ones that will be directly hit first. Yahoo Yahoo is a reflection of the abject poverty and utter frustration in which the youth have found themselves. As I talk to you today, many youths are unemployed and many are unemployable. Many of them are now engaging in criminal activities as a result of this. When General Obasanjo said Nigeria was sitting on a keg of gun powder with the huge unemployment among the youth, he was not saying anything new but was just saying the obvious. As they say in law, it is trite. We are in the midst of this problem now.

Some university graduates now are unemployable, even many lawyers can’t speak good English because their teachers are flawed in the area of brilliance due to what they were exposed to. Also, many lecturers are not as good as what we had about 40 or 50 years ago. They fall far short of educational and academic depth expected of university lecturers. We are in trouble and whosever takes over from this administration can only try his best; and there are certain areas that must change first. Security situation, in which we find ourselves as a nation, is one that must change. Insecurity now is an unnecessary distraction for an already impoverished nation.

The NTA is Nigeria’s first TV station. Why has not been able to rank among the very best in the world?

There is none of these broadcast stations that can rank among the best because of fundamental constraints. In this part of the world, anything that is owned by government will be bogged down by bureaucracy and with that, it cannot work. It will be bureaucratic in editorial content and bureaucratic in procurement of facilities that will jazz up the system. So, there is no way such will rank among the best in the world. I was in the US in 1985 when the CNN started. The owner of the station was the butt of jokes of everybody. Nobody believed that his ambitious idea and focus were possible but look at it today now, it is one of the most reliable sources of information around the world, if not the best. See what happened in Nigeria also, Channels, AIT are ahead, they are bound to shoot ahead of government-owned stations because they have the wherewithal to move forward without encumbrances that are the bane of government-owned institutions.

As the date for the the 2023 Presidential Elections draw closer, so are the intrigues and dramas attached to it. The Dramatis Personae as usual have not been disappointing in the way they have interpreted their roles so far. As days, weeks and months go by, we won't be short of revealing stories and media propaganda set against any of the candidates contesting the highest seat in the Land.

The most recent of such revelation is the one that seems to be trending on social Media for the past few days. The Mythical story or biopic of the former Governor of Lagos state and National of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The Folklore like story which is being peddled by an unknown blog that have captured the heart of fickle minded Nigerians on the Internet with various libelous stories connecting well meaning Nigerians.

This writer won't dwell so much on the misdeeds of this blogger as that's not the Crux of this piece, rather, it will better that the veracity of the claims of this blogger on Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is checked, tested and verified.

First, it's about the name, birth place and the year of birth Bola Tinubu. Yes it has been in the rumor mill for some years now that Tinubu was born in Iragbiji with a different name, but the blogger should have done better by telling us the names of the parents of Bola Tinubu or Amoda as the fake name is been peddled around. It is a known truth in Yoruba Culture that the ancestral root of any Yoruba being will be tied to a particular compound or clan in his/her town of origin. Has Gistlover done this? the answer remains No. It will be better if the person behind the Blog or the sponsors do their research well before coming to the public with an half baked lie.

On Tinubu's sojourn to the United States and the Allegation of Trafficking drugs, it would have made more sense and scientific truth if the blogger or the sponsors of this malicious story present to the public a well detailed documentation of Tinubu's trial in the hands of the United States Government. This would have laid more credence to their malignancy towards Asiwaju Tinubu. How do you even accuse an Accountant of repute who has had a track record of excellence with international accounting firms. The truth of how Tinubu help shored up the finances of Mobil is there for to confirm even from the company itself.

The large heart of Bola Ahmed Tinubu shouldn't be a weapon that will be used against him at will. That he accommodates all Nigerians regardless of tribe and religion should not make you malign him at will and because you have a social media presence with huge followers shouldn't be a requisite for the spread of fake and malalicious stories of eminent Nigerians which Tinubu makes the top list.

Agreed that personalities and track records will be attacked and checked in a season like this. It's not new and it won't be the first time in any Political firmament. Even Senator Mitt Romney School bullying saga was revisited during his stint at trying his luck at America's highest office. A thorough fact based investigation would have done better if Tinubu is truly what this blogger says he is.

This piece isn't to hold forth for Tinubu or blow his trumpet in anyway. It's just that Nigeria's Politics and future is too serious to be subjected to a TMZ-like reporting. This kind of reportage is a wake up call to the Nigerian media and journalism profession. It's a pity that Investigating journalism in Nigeria has long been dumped in the Trash Can of history. Our Media professionals have left the stage for quacks like Gistlover Blog to hold the sway of investigative reporting attracted by brown envelope.

We've heard and equally read some of his giant philanthropic strides, especially instances where he has helped notable citizens who have battled health issues, are cash strapped and needed urgent medical attention. These sort of story don't make it to the "big blogs" for the publics consumption simply because it will further show him in a good light. This leaves alot of questions for the media.

Whether his distractors like it or not, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu shines alot in the perceived mystery that surrounds his birth, his background, his rise game and Prominence. He will not be the only one on this kind of stage. Even to some religious sect, the birth and death of Our Lord Jesus Christ to them remains a Myth even though the Holy Bible gave a gave a clear cut of his journey on earth.

Little Wonder so many around the world see Asiwaju as an enigma and a political colossus who from nothing had suddenly built a massive progressive political empire.

Cut the Man some slack, he has paid his dues politically. Even those who are ferociously after his downfall seek help from him daily. His vision for Lagos remains the most visible after Awolowo's Vision for Western Nigeria.
I will know how you will explain to market women that the ApC that made ordinary egg from 10 naira in 2015 to 100 naira in 2022 is coming again.

Politics › Re: FLASHBACK: How Peter Obi hid 2.3billion in toilet, laundered 48billion naira by Bontafa: 10:29am On Sep 10, 2022
blamingthedevil:
“If I had six hours to kill a goat, I would use five and a half hours to sharpen my knife” stated the then Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi in response to question from Journalist at the Government House in mid-2008 following concerns that the Obi administration was dragging its feet slowly towards development of the State. The questions arose as reporters in Awka tagged Governor Peter Obi as the first “Baba Go Slow” before the name was borrowed to the late President Yar’Adua.

While the then governor of Anambra State sharpened his proverbial knife – over a period of 2.5 years, Anambra experienced little or no expenditure away from the salaries of workers and mandatory compensations – this was as the federal allocations due to the state was remitted monthly. The monies being accumulated by the governor during the said period were kept and never utilized for the budgeted purposes stipulated in the appropriations bill. And limited questions of the whereabouts of the said monies were not posed largely owing to the political weather of the period – following the failed impeachment and the repeated trials by the Andy Uba led Peoples Democratic Party [PDP] to unseat the only seating All Progressive Grand Alliance [APGA] governor.

However information recently made available to 247ureports.com through competent sources indicate Peter Obi was primarily preoccupied with devising crafty means of laundering monies from Anambra state treasury into his personal account.

Peter Obi receiving an ‘award’ from the then president of ASA-USA and Board Chairman of ASA-USA

Two days to the March 17th day of his official last day in office as the Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi commandeered for some of the brand new Sports Utility Vehicles [SUVs] and Pick Up trucks that were parked at the Government Lounge in Amawbia. The vehicles were then loaded with eleven and a half [11.5] bags onto the vehicles – with each bag containing N200million. They were secretly stored away inside the Governor’s private toilet at the Government Lounge.

Mr. Peter Obi then instructed the drivers to drive the vehicles over to the residence of the Auxiliary Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Awka. Mr. Peter Obi got the clearance of the Bishop, Jonas Benson to store the vehicles carrying the eleven and a half bags containing the N2.3billion. 247ureports.com is not certain if Bishop Jonas Benson knew of the content of the vehicles but Bishop Jonas Benson had served as the chaplain of the Government Lounge throughout the period Peter Obi served as the Governor of Anambra State. Our source indicates that both men enjoyed a close and brotherly relationship. During the campaign 2013 along with previous campaigns, the Bishop has been known to openly campaign for Governor – regardless of his priestly gown of non-partisanship. Jonas Benson hails from Adazi Nnukwu within the same local government area as Peter Obi.

The whereabouts of the vehicles after the March 17th date became unknown. The vehicles were relocated to an unknown destination by the outgoing governor along with the contents of N2.3billion. The whereabouts of the N2.3billion has remained unknown till date. Our source claims Peter Obi walked away with the money.

Another crafty manner with which the then Governor Peter Obi devised to systematically drain away the monies of Anambra State was through the usage of bank accounts with fictitious identity. He used his colleagues at the Diamond Bank and Fidelity Bank to set up many accounts – where he would make monthly payments into – of about N350million monthly. One of the accounts was the one set up supposedly for Anambra indigenes leaving in the diaspora particularly the Anambra State Association in the USA [ASA-USA]. He opened an account under the name of ASA-USA that was supposedly used by Anambra indigenes in the USA to send contributions to the home state. Using the opened account in early 2008, Peter Obi began making automatic monthly payments of N300million into the account – with occasional deposits as low as N150million. At the eve of his stepping down from office in March, the account recorded an available balance in excess of N14.2billion. The account was closed down immediately Peter Obi left office – and the account personal manager transferred to Zenith bank. The whereabouts of the N14.2billion remains unknown. Our source points to Peter Obi as the only one who knows for certain the whereabouts of the money.

What also remains uncertain is the culpability of the administrators of the ASA-USA. During the said period, the ASA-USA was administered by Dr. Anakwenze for the earlier part and then Dr. Anadi for the later part. Both gentlemen operated a very friendly executive to the then Governor of Anambra State. Some within the ASA-USA executive cabinet were given free land allocations in the state capital, others were awarded lucrative contracts. It is not certain if the same executive members were privy to the Diamond bank account operated under the association’s name.

Peter Obi prowess to launder cash money did not come to bear to the close observers of the former Governor until the 2014 general elections came. As the campaign period neared, Peter Obi made a withdrawal of N4billion from a ‘coded’ Fidelity Account. The money was to be used to finance the Peoples Democratic Party [PDP] campaign in Anambra – from presidency to national assembly and state assembly. But as Peter Obi began disbursement of the same N4billion in cash, the handlers of the campaign including security agents observed that the same money withdrawn in 2014 from Fidelity bank had 2008 bank stamps on the straps – meaning the withdrawn since 2008 and stored possibly at an outside facility.

Peter Obi money laundering escapades did not hit the public terrain until the failed heist to deliver N250million by road to his Lagos office at 7 Aerodrome Road, Apapa. The money which was being conveyed by his media assistant, Valentine Obieyem in early 2009, was intercepted by security agents who exposed the heist attempt. It took the long legs of the then Governor Peter Obi to quell the anti-graft agencies from investigating the failed heist.

Interesting while Mr. Peter Obi occupied his time with devising crafty avenues of draining the funds of Anambra, the insecurity levels reached epic heights – the type never witnessed in the history of old and new Anambra. Anambra quickly became the capital of kidnapping in Nigeria. This notwithstanding that Peter Obi collected a total sum of N48billion in security votes in the 8 years he was in office. Some of the affected parties – whose relatives were kidnapped during the height of kidnappings called Peter Obi’s laundering escapades “blood money”.

Within three months of Governor Obiano’s arrival to the Government House, kidnapping to curtailed to the barest minimum. Our source indicated that the governor applied the security votes to the security of the state – and “it did the trick“.

He answered you well sha. It's you Igbos that always chant "Yoruba nation" grin. You can't come to Yoruba land and hear that nonsense so widespread. It's a comic relief in the West. Igboho cannot tell yorubas to sit at home. They'll pursue him from Yorubaland if he tries it. The ease with which he was dealt with shows yorubas no like that nonsense movement. And please, leave Dele alone, no one knows the man in the West. Yorubas and other tribes leading you people on will desert you when elections start. Same game they played you people that led to the death of millions of your children in the civil war. Give yourselves sense. If you truly wanted to get APC out, dividing the party is definitely not the best way to go. But you political neophytes know nothing. Thankfully, Tinubu is glad you people don't have sense
You are not a Yoruba man it's understandable for you saying this .

Leave dele ? No one knows him ?

Joke on you .

For your information ,this platform is not for igbos and Yoruba only .

I am not Igbo and I can beat my chest you are not Yoruba , unless maybe from far side of Ibadan.

So what you are are trying to say no is that the Igbo tribe are still the ones agitating for Yoruba nation?.

Do you know that odua nation have been lingering since 2014?

Don't you guys research?

That was long before nnmadi started .

Use your Google search Tinubu's role in it , how he calmed the first wave .

Don't just reply because maybe we are opposition for some politicians.
Election will come and go , the hate for Igbo will die and the hate for Fulani will increase, it's been like that since the marriage of the enterprise.
