I remember how a school mate of mine denied his father before everyone. It was a boarding house and we had parents stroll in at weekends. So this guy's father came looking for him but the moment he sighted his Dad, a peasant farmer with a bicycle, he repeatedly denied him. In fact, he said, his father was a regular beggar that bugged his life. The father, too heartbroken, walked away. But this guy stylishly went behind his friends to meet him. That was when we found out the truth. Why did he deny him? He had always boasted about the many mansions they didn't have, the many cars with swimming pool, and the wealth of his father. His lies had earned him so much respect amongst his friends. He was the Don. But here was his Dad with no cars but a bicycle on his way home from the farm. For the Don, alarm don blow! I've heard of similar stories till date and it's all just sad. Your father definitely values education to have sent you to school with his tough, life-no-easy-at all, hard earned money. He's giving you a future he never had and you still don't think you should be proud of someone like that? Well, he was just young and naïve, trying to feel among. He learnt his lesson that day as friends began to rain senses into him. See, your parents may not be driving G-Class or flying first class but they are your parents! His father couldn't afford better clothes because that's the alternative forgone for his school fees. Your parents also want to chop all the life but that might mean chopping all your future. Treasure them. Value them. Appreciate them. Be proud of them. There's no point being ashamed of them and their not-so-fine faces because of the stress they've gone through for you. You should be thinking of how to make them happy. You and I know if being rich is just by hard work and creativity, many of our parents would be super rich. But life doesn't work that way. Be happy for those whose parents have it all but don't deny yours because of some stupid competition without trophy. Cheers! |
does anyone have the link or links on where to download African literatures in PDF format. e.g: the beautiful ones are not yet born, lion and the jewel, and other African writers. |
Let me just drop a thought here there are things you should never boast of as an individual. people mistake weaknesses for strength and it's always amusing. you hear people say things like: I'm a very proud person and I no send I'm very stubborn and that's just me there's nobody I can't insult, etc my friend, shut up! work on that flaw because it's nothing to flaunt. it's cheap and easy to be stubborn, arrogant, rude and all bad. you don't need self control to be all that, do you? but you need self control to not be all that. that isn't cheap. it takes discipline. instead of flaunting it, work on it. some of us can see through the mask you are wearing. you need help. admit it. it's that simple! |
don't know where to post this topic but I believe the mods will move it to the appropriate section. I don't understand why people buy recharge cards send to someone at a lesser rate just because they can't see the physical voucher. yet, these same people buy e-top up at the exact price without complaining. haven't you been saved from the stress of scratching the card? buying card of #1000 at #800 or #500 at #300. Haba! this is wickedness. taking advantage of people's circumstances. Nigerians, lets change our mindsets. |

Hi, could anyone let know the difference between obey and submit? Thank |
KingEbukasBlog:you said there are reasons why you should not obey the law when you are in a particular circumstance. it means a girl can commit abortion if she was impregnated by armed robber or if she was raped by an unknown person and become pregnant. just asking |
Must your parents or your intended spouse’s parents have to say ‘yes’ before you marry him/her? Going by the stipulation of the Nigerian Law, it is required that anyone under the age of 21 years must get his/her parental consent (and in the case of absence of these people, your guardian) before you get married to your intended spouse. Thus, how important is parental consent when considering marriage? |
Where am I suggesting that the police created the law . I just told you that you agree with me - that there are reasons why you should not obey the law when you are in a particular circumstance . E.g If there is a disaster , there are certain laws that have to be broken because the priority has changed - safety is now paramount . What do I mean , laws are given to maintain order . Order is paramount . During disasters , safety is now paramount . Order sometimes need to not to be adhered to in order to be safe .
