PhonesRe: Iphone Storage Is Full by Bossman(m): 3:07pm On May 28
You can subscribe to additional Icloud storage. If that's not an option, and you can remove stuff off your phone to clear space, then the next option is another device with more storage.
PhonesRe: MTN: Why Nigerians Are Experiencing Poor Network Service - Okigbo by Bossman(m):
These people are just giving nonsensical excuses. There are more people using the network, which means they are making more money. So there is no excuse for the terrible network that their customers are experiencing. They recently disclosed how much revenue they are making in the country. And that should have translated to a much better experience for their customers. Such an excuse will not fly in a well regulated society. And they will not survive it.

However if someone like JD Vance that supports everything the current administration is doing runs and wins, they are just going to continue where the current administration left off.

PhonesRe: MTN FibreX - Installation, Speed Tests, Availability, And All You Need To Know by Bossman(m): 2:35pm On May 22
Customer service does NOT exist in Nigeria period! Banks, Telecom operators, etc. What they fail to understand is that it's the customers that are keeping them in business and paying their salaries. Without the customers they will cease to exist.
georgee:
Before MTN gets to the level of Starlink in terms of customer service, it will take 80 years

Those using Starlink can confirm this. Starlink treats us like eggs from day 1 till now

Some people that were thinking of switching from Starlink to MTN quickly had rethink when they started seeing negative reviews and frustrating comments from users grin
PhonesRe: Who Do We Offend In This Country?.gosh by Bossman(m): 6:13pm On May 19
The culprit could also be the quality of the video call. Honestly, I cannot imagine a 10 minute video call consuming less than 100MB. Anything video related consumes HUGE amount of data. The data usage MTN is showing is about right. There may be an issue on how Airtel is charging for the call.
PhonesRe: Glo Network Outage by Bossman(m): 4:01pm On May 18
GLO must be very cheap for people to continue to use them and put up with this mess! Seems like just about everything I have read about them lately is lack of connectivity, or very slow connectivity. How can you depend on such?
PhonesRe: IOS Iphone Anyone? Find A Solution For Ur Iphones Here by Bossman(m): 7:43pm On May 17
Sounds like the device is locked to the original carrier. If possible, contact the carrier for the unlock code.
Soliddust3030:
Recently gave my kid bro my old xsmax, he had activation lock issues, had to unlock it using find my phone. Now the phone doesn't accept Nigerian sim. Check about it is showing sim locked. What's the solution

PhonesRe: Before You Buy That So-called UK Used Phone by Bossman(m): 4:08pm On May 05
As the OP stated, "UK Used" is just a label slapped on these devices. The overwhelming majority of these devices have never been used anywhere near the UK. It's just that Nigerians have been known to seek devices when they are said to be UK used. So the sellers label them as such. People just need to be cautious on any used devices they purchase, and to do a thorough testing of the device before payment. Nigerians in general have a very low purchasing power. So most will NOT be able to afford new flagship devices from the major brands. However, the local brands seem to have done a decent job on their devices, and new devices from them should suffice for most.
PhonesRe: Flashing A Foreign Locked Phone by Bossman(m): 12:34am On May 03
Reach out to the friend and have them request the unlock code from the Canadian carrier. All phones sold in Canada in the last 8 years or so are unlocked. However, the carriers are required by law to provide the unlock code, for free upon request, for any older devices that were sold over 8 years ago.
harrend:
Its not stolen. a friend of mine said his friend in Canada sent him up to 5 Canadian phones and he sold it to his friends here in Nigeria
CelebritiesRe: Mercedes Benz Sues Osimhen For Alleged ₦142m Debt by Bossman(m): 3:04pm On Apr 30
Looks like this story is not complete or there is some misunderstanding somewhere. Everyone knows he can pay this debt and has likely done so but somehow not getting to the appropriate party.
PhonesRe: Flashing A Foreign Locked Phone by Bossman(m): 3:46pm On Apr 29
That's a paperweight. You will not be able to do anything with it.
PhonesRe: Why Is WhatsApp Banning My Number? by Bossman(m): 1:42pm On Apr 29
You will need to use a different device. Looks like your phone's IP address is the culprit.

CareerRe: Nigerian Amputee Lady Loses Remote Job On Her First Day Over Poor Network by Bossman(m): 1:24pm On Apr 29
This is so true. And unfortunately prayers without action is not going to solve anything. The most advanced nations in the world are the least religious. That says a whole lot!
BucketHat:
Nigeria is just dysfunctional too much 💔

The only thing the majority of Nigerians are good at is to pray/ fast for 100 days & 100 nights,bind/casting of unknown demons,go to Saudi Arabia to stone the devil & yet their hearts is overflowing with evils left, right & centre 🤔

The simplest of things that work seamlessly in other sane countries is difficult in Nigeria 💔😡

The wickedness in Nigeria is quadruple pro max.
CareerRe: Nigerian Amputee Lady Loses Remote Job On Her First Day Over Poor Network by Bossman(m): 1:22pm On Apr 29
I concur. The onus certainly falls on the regulators to hold them accountable. This is unacceptable!
sleeknaija:
All these network providers need to be held accountable for the poor Internet network they have been dishing out recently. Cost of buying data keep increasing without commensurate improvement in network. The bad thing is that our regulators are not ready to whip the big stick.
PhonesRe: MTN To Compensate Subscribers For Poor Service, Plans Network Upgrade by Bossman(m): 3:59am On Apr 25
OMG, these Nigerian carriers are a big joke! Epileptic service of several days and they are compensating folks with N300. These Telcos are really taking advantage of their customers. The pushback has to come from those representatives of the customers.
PhonesRe: My Network Is Driving Me Crazy by Bossman(m): 1:55pm On Apr 23
The telcos in Nigeria just need to spend more money and fortify dense areas with the appropriate masts that will increase connectivity, especially building penetration/indoors. The carriers know what to do, they just aren't spending the money for the appropriate equipment, and they are not being held accountable.
PhonesRe: Is Iphone 12 Still Viable In 2026 by Bossman(m): 10:52pm On Apr 22
The 12 series devices are still decent today. I used a 12 pro max up until 5 months ago or so. And still have it as a backup and for Naija use when I visit. It met all my needs.
Lukuluku123:
I promise to get my nephew in school an iPhone.
Since the prices of iphones are so expensive after checking the price I realized the one I could afford is iPhone 12.
But this is 2026, i don't know if it is ok to get a phone that was made that long ago.
PhonesRe: Why Are You People Running Away From eSim? by Bossman(m): 2:57pm On Apr 21
That's correct. However on most devices only 2 can be active at the same time. For example, on my 14 pro max US version one can have at least 8, but with only 2 active at the same time.
kingimmade:
it looks like multiple eSims can be on a device
pls is that true?
PhonesRe: Why Are You People Running Away From eSim? by Bossman(m): 9:48am On Apr 21
It’s a digital sim that’s embedded in the device rather than a physical sim. It’s best to just google if you need more information, rather than rehashing the tons of information already out there.
jom28gy:
what is the eSim? And how does it work?
PhonesRe: Why Are You People Running Away From eSim? by Bossman(m): 12:40am On Apr 20
Exactly! This is one of the disadvantages of ESIM - The inability to easily swap the sim card into another phone.
alatbaba1:
I’m currently using eSIM but I must confess the advantages are less than the disadvantages. The major disadvantages is that once your phone has issues, you can’t remove your sim immediately to another phone. My iPhone fell down on a Sunday morning and went dead blank. My phone repairer don’t open on Sundays, till Monday before I could be reached on calls. Ordinarily I would have switched my SIM card to another pone temporarily but with eSIM, na joke be that.
TravelRe: UK Embassy Has Seized My Passport! by Bossman(m): 12:32am On Apr 20
Yes. The consulates can only hold your passport for a certain period of time. And they are required by law to return it to the passport issuing authority of the country the passport belongs to. And that's exactly what they did. The epileptic immigration services in Abuja probably has that passport tucked on someone's desk. You need to go there and explain exactly what happened and hopefully you get to talk to the appropriate person.

The title of this thread is definitely incorrect. It should probably read "The Abuja immigration/passport office has lost my passport" or something like that.
Goodlordwoodliu:
Thanks alot. But have you ever heard of such a case before where passports are sent from UK embassy to Immigration office simply because it was not picked up on time.
TravelRe: UK Embassy Has Seized My Passport! by Bossman(m): 12:29am On Apr 20
Absolutely! And they can only keep it for a certain period of time. MY guess is that period has elapsed, and they sent it to the appropriate place. This is likely an issue on the Nigerian Immigration side.
CaptainFM1:
Calm down. They cannot seize your passport. They can only keep it. The passport is the property of Nigeria Government.
PhonesRe: Why Are You People Running Away From eSim? by Bossman(m): 3:41pm On Apr 19
I see a post mentioning that the ESIM is soldered to the phone. May be that was just a joke or being sarcastic. Nothing is soldered to the device. The device kust needs to be eSIM capable, and to activate an eSIM request and activate it by scanning a QRcode sent to the device.
Seems like things are done differently in Nigeria. Normally there is no need to go to any store to activate an ESIM. It’s all electronic via the internet.
My device is only ESIM capable. And have activated multiple international travel eSIMs (Nomad, Aeralo, etc.) on it without leaving the comfort of my house.
I’m already dreading how I am going to transfer my MTN physical sim to eSIM when I get to Naija in a few months. I’d like to not have to visit an MTN store. So looks like I’ll just use my old device when I’m there.
PhonesRe: Why Are You People Running Away From eSim? by Bossman(m): 12:43pm On Apr 19
Can’t be the same phone number. A phone number cannot be associated with more than one sim(physical or ESIM).

PhonesRe: Fake And Compromised Redmi Phones Being Sold As New. Watch Out!! by Bossman(m): 11:33pm On Apr 18
With all those observations on supposedly new devices, the seller should be called out. I am sure the seller is aware of this to some extent. These are China used/fake devices that were modified to work in Nigeria. What a shame!
BusinessRe: ₦1000: What Can You Buy With Nigeria's Highest Currency? by Bossman(m): 4:46pm On Apr 15
God has done his part. It's only Nigerians that can fix the country. Action needs to be taken - vote out leaders that are not looking out for our best interests. Start to hold our elected officials accountable. Organize protests as needed. Folks cannot keep quiet while these people ruin the country!

PhonesRe: Advice On Phone With Only Esim, NO Physical SIM by Bossman(m): 3:35pm On Apr 14
All US versions of Apples phones since Iphone 14 are ESIM only. I currently use a 14 Pro max, so I have my MTN sim in my previous phone for now, till the next time I visit Naija. Then I will try to do the switch to MTN ESIM. It's good to know that the process to switch is seamless.
PhonesRe: How Much To Unlock T-mobile Locked Iphone 15 by Bossman(m): 9:02pm On Apr 11
I will say it again - to 'Fully" unlock that device, both carrier and Icloud unlocks, only the original carrier can do it.
BusinessRe: CBN Tightens BVN Rules From May 1: 5 Key Changes To Know by Bossman(m): 8:39pm On Apr 11
The phone number should NOT be used as personal identification. That’s a recipe for disaster! People should have the right to change their phone number. And they should be able to do that multiple times without affecting their identity in the BVN system. If the system cannot accommodate that, then it’s a bad design.
PhonesRe: How Much To Unlock T-mobile Locked Iphone 15 by Bossman(m): 11:24pm On Apr 10
Only the original carrier will be able to provide "Full" unlocking of that device.
