My guess is that, with Nigeria's massive population, they expected their market share to be higher. One of the main reasons for this low number is the lack of availability of affordable unlimited internet for the masses. The cost of data is still relatively expensive. And majority access the internet via their data on their phones. While the other countries have real broadband internet.

Bottom line is, these companies are out to make a profit. And if Netflix cannot attain that in Nigeria, they will eventually leave the country.

May be the SIM tray/holder got damaged somehow. Can you reach out to the person you got it from andask if they had a sim card working in it before

The inflation in the country is the issue. They will likely NOT bring their price down and rather pull out of the country, if forced to. They are in the business of providing service and being able to make profit. If they (Or any other business) will incur a loss by providing that service they will likely cease providing the service.

With starlink, Nigeria is slowly getting to where majority of other countries have been for a while. Unlimited very fast connectivity is the norm in most other countries.
