I see a lot of talk about not owning the house until after 30 years. Not totally correct. A good percentage of us pay off these mortgages in half that time or less. Same thing with our vehicles. We pay them off in way less than half of the terms of the loan. Building very good credit is very critical. One thing the most advanced and developed countries of the world have in common is, a very god credit system. It enables and empowers its citizens. The lack of this is one of the myriad of things binding Nigeria back. |

Career / Re: Layoffs And Job Security Force Nigeria’s Tech Workers To Traditional Industries by Bossman(m): 2:52pm On Apr 16 |
I concur. If you have the right skillset there are plenty of jobs for you to choose from. IT-Software Dev is still a more marketable skill than most of the traditional nontech skills. MT: |
Career / Re: Which Of These Two Careers Can Help Me Migrate To The US? by Bossman(m): 2:25pm On Apr 03 |
If tech is oversaturated, then finance is oversaturated X 10! On the US side, you are better of anytime any day with IT/Software Dev skills than accounting/finance. There may be 1000 applicants for a single tech job posting. However, there will probably be 10,000 job applicants for the same single accounting/finance job posting. Actually the job prospects between these 2 are not even comparable here in the US. You still stand a better chance of getting sponsorship for a tech job than finance/accounting. There are tons of folks from top notch schools with degrees in finance/accounting here in the US that can't find a job. So why would anyone sponsor you for that. I have been in tech (software Development) for a very long time, though in management now. There is still pretty good demand for those with strong tech skills. 5 Likes |
Travel / Re: Changing The Date Of Birth On My International Passport by Bossman(m): 5:21pm On Apr 02 |
Your passport must match what's on your NIN. If they are both wrong then you need to change both then. Change NIN first, then do passport afterwards. Omolaugh26: 1 Like |

Travel / Re: Cost Of A Nigeria International Passport by Bossman(m): 6:21pm On Mar 28 |
To the best of my knowledge here in the US only, only permanent Resident students or those that are Citizens are able to get student loans. Now, there are international student loans for which there will need to be a Cosigner. So, more than likely the agent is the cosigner here. As already posted, make sure you verify the terms of the loan with the agent. Alfabest07: |

I use it in the US where we have very fast unlimited internet connection. The service itself is just $80/year. But you will need solid internet connection. I purchased MTN's 200GB monthly data plan so that I have enough to last me for my 2 week stay. Of course, you will also need an internet box such as firestick or android box. oluwafreshkid: |

It's an IPTV provider called Network 24. I use it in the US and travel with it. So brought it to Naija and using it with my MTN data sim. Judolisco: |

You will need to visit an NIMC center near you to do any modifications. Anyone that tells you they can do it without your presence is not being truthful. Modifications require your biometric data (fingerprint, picture) to be recaptured. Colandrewnda: |

How did you achieve this without you being present? For any modifications, your biometric information (Fingerprint, picture, signature) will be captured in order to save the information. Ayodeleh52: |

Travel / Re: Yankee: through the eyes of a village boy. by Bossman(m): 6:30pm On Feb 03 |
There is crime everywhere. And besides, most of the crime here in Chi-town is concentrated on the West side of downtown. I am in quiet and very safe a Suburb about 55 miles from downtown. Majority of Nigerians live in Suburbs and will not experience any of the crime. And downtown proper itself is quite safe. Took the train down there for work for about 15 years or so...no issues at all. Lisa290: 2 Likes 1 Share |

USA is a land of opportunities. If you are dedicated and can work hard the sky is the limit for you. Nurses have different options to make such amount - overtime, shift differential, Holiday pay, etc. molybdenum0012: 4 Likes |
Travel / Re: I Envy People Who Left Nigeria Already. by Bossman(m): 9:00pm On Feb 01 |
Some folks are saying they regret moving out of Nigeria, etc. The bottom line is - you have to plan well before you make your move. Make sure you move legitimately as well. You do these things and you are a hard worker, things will work well for you. At this rate, just about any country in the Western work is better than Nigeria. Heck! Just comparing the life expectancy in Nigeria to that of UK/US (52 vs 80/77), and most other countries outside Africa is enough to convince one to get the hell out! 2 Likes 1 Share |

Phones / Re: Nin by Bossman(m): 2:55pm On Feb 01 |
Please elaborate how this can be done. The NIMC app will send a verification code to the phone number on file before you can log in. If that same phone number is lost, you can't even log into the NIMC app. FFIA: |

Phones / Re: Why SIM Cards Linked With NIN Are Being Barred - NCC by Bossman(m): 8:26pm On Jan 23 |
This is nonsense! Anyone that knows about these things will tell you that it should not be possible for the NIN to be linked to two different identities - fingerprint, names, pictures. Those identifying attributes should uniquely identify an entity/individual. Except if the system is really screwed up that it's not able to uniquely identify an entity with those attributes. And it should not be possible for someone with an NIN to get another one. Except if it's a not a well designed application. 4 Likes |

TV/Movies / Re: Amazon Prime To Layoff Staff And Stop Producing African Content by Bossman(m): 2:31pm On Jan 20 |
The African market in general just is not viable. The lack of unlimited internet/broadband makes streaming services no no in these countries. In Nigeria for example, an overwhelming majority still access the internet via metered data (Data on their phone/MiFi). So streaming services just are not going to work for them. 1 Like 1 Share |
