Site tour to the Pinnacle@Duxton Facilitated by the Housing & Development Board (HDB) Singapore

The Pinnacle@Duxton is 50-storeys high. It comprises seven blocks with a total of 1,848 flats. This is about 5.5 times the original 334 flats on the site. It redefines urban high density living by weaving continuous sky gardens through all the 7 blocks to provide diverse spaces that are extensions of the living environment for residents. Unique design features include a variety of façade elements, 12 skybridges, which create possibly the longest continuous skygarden in the world at the 26th and 50th storeys which link all seven blocks. The circuit board-like arrangement of bay windows, planters and balconies also brought character to the project.
The apartment blocks are primarily of pre-cast construction, accounting for approximately 85% of the total volume of concrete for the tower blocks. Prefabrication of the façade, columns, walls, slabs, household shelters, internal partitions, staircases, refuse chutes, parapets, etc, facilitated construction works in a tight built-up working environment.
It also increased productivity and reduced environmental impact on the existing living environment around the area. An interesting feature was the use of large panel pre-cast facades that enhanced buildability and contributed to greater site productivity, hence realising the architectural complexity of the project. A post-occupancy survey reported over 90% resident satisfaction with the design, features and facilities. The sky gardens with their panoramic views provide opportunities for greater community interaction and recreational pursuits.
