Not a lot of Germans study for masters in English. There's just one German girl that I know of in higher semester.

I don't even see why they should do masters sef because must of the lectures we receive, their bsc students attend as well.

I will advise you stick to your old way of doing it. Freelancing isn't allowed for students.

I just had a funny and unscheduled exercise this morning.

I am used to getting to the bustop 1 minute to their arrival time. But the problem with that is, sometimes the buses are always ahead of schedule and I might miss it.

This morning, I did the same thing. Bus was to arrive say 08:20, I left my room 08:18, got close to the bustop 08:19. As I was almost reaching the bustop, I saw the front of the bus. I immediately picked race oh, but the bus driver saw me running and gave me one strange look.

In my mind, I was like this one is among those kind of drivers that see you running towards the bus but won't still stop for you even if you nack your head on the floor while running.

Owning to the fact that missing the bus automatically means my whole plan has been disrupted, I had no choice other than to pick race after the bus to the next bustop.

Na so I start this race oh between bus and foot. As I was running, I checked my phone and the bus was still 1 minute early. I couldn't just process what happened, but the thought of thia disrupting my movement didn't even let me think straight.

When I got to the next bustop guess what happened.........














I ran after a school bus . I felt like I have lost my mind.

Public buses are used as school buses, but the only difference is that the electronic display board on the buses will show a sign of two kids.

When I got there, the bus I thought I missed then came from behind. You need to see how the people on the bus were looking at me.

I really don't know much about cars or business here for now. I have been to an Auto Haus once and the cars I saw there were about the range of 8000 euros upwards.

Owning a car is not a problem for them here, because they massively produce cars and people get them on contract. Used cars aren't that common like it is in USA.

One thing you should note about Germany is that, there are not a lot of used things flying around like USA where used phones, laptops and the likes are like pure water .

Here, they prefer to keep their things or when they sell it, it is somewhat expensive to even think of sending to Nigeria and sell.

As an international student from outside EU, you're nit allowed to freelance or own a business.

Most unskilled Jobs here in the United States are the same way.

You stand on your feet for the entire 8 hours & only get a 30 minutes lunch break.

After a while I got used to it.

But the best job I had was a job as a Security Officer at a luxury condominium & office

The only thing I needed to do was to monitor the security Cameras & make sure that only authorized personel are allowed on the premises.

Sometimes I got bored of sitting for a long period of time & got up to walk around.

You also needed a Security Badge to scan inorder to access the elevator.

I was paid around $10.00/ hour.

I think I'm kinda spoiled now since I always look for jobs that lets me sit down for the entire duration of my shift.

And inorder to get a Security License in the United States you need to either be a Citizen or a Permanent Resident of the United States.

Ja, this is not far from the truth, the jobs that allows you to sit are so boring you feel sleepy. But they are way better than the standing one jare

pls tell them..I remember when i worked at bimbo detergent factory in kirikiri...7am to 7pm..packing the detergents into cartons standing...or when we use shovel to pour the fallen crumbs into the pulley to be remodelled or the chemicals that made your eyes teary and red and your nose running....just for 700 naira...I took painkillers daily. menial jobs ain't bad abroad,it all boils down to having a plan and using these jobs as a stepping stone.

Using as stepping stone, that's true. Working such jobs make me realize why there are alot of opportunities in the skilled labor field that they take people from other countries to fill them up.

All boils down to having plans and spiritual backups.

Connection and moving with the right people is needed here one way or the other, because not all job openings end up on the Internet.

Please don't rely too much on the Nigerian community when you come here. Most of them will f*ck you up and hide vital information from you. I will post about my experience with them in this city later

It appears round neck T-Shirts is very cheap over there cos thats what almost everyone rocks in the summer. Like how much do they go for there. And do they sell high quality secondhand clothes shoes and bags there at very fair rates. Or is it better we buy them from naija before coming over.

My advice, grab everything you can grab in Nigeria or wherever you are before coming here.

Their fashion industry get as he be oh, alot of expensive rubbish. If Aba people get better finishing, they will beat these people hands down.
The sneakers I see here be like Aba made , unlike USA where correct kicks dey. The only thing I like here is there jeans, buy two expensive jeans and you're very okay for the year or few months. A friend bought two jeans for €65. All the ones I came with from Nigeria, I am lookin for a way to dispose it.


Bag......... Everyone here carries backpack oh, even the very senior citizens, no matter the kind of work you do here, you must to have a backpack, some even have ones that has rollers .

Hence, bag is very expensive. I mean a small bag can cost as much as €200.

T shirt? You can get a better t-shirt in Nigeria if you go to some stores that sells quality. I will advise anyone to come buy jeans here,they are expensive yes but you don't need alot because they don't get dirty. I have only washed my jeans once

Travelling abroad is not easy especially to do unskilled job, Germany is better, in Dubai once they have done your visa u can't stop the job till after some months or year depending on the contract, with Dubai hot weather, I will start Germany process when I finish my contract with this company, bro stay strong.

There's light at the end of the tunnel for you bro, I followed Dubai thread when I still had time back then.

There's a Nigerian guy studying for his PhD here, he told me how it was hard for him to raise blocked account funds because of the working conditions in Dubai, but when God was ready to take him out, he was able to raise more than the funds within months and he went back to Nigeria to apply for his visa.
He told me that part of the money is still in his account because when he got to Germany, he got a scholarship that covered his studies after the first semester.

Morale of the story, don't give up bro.

una lazy finish including braket, i shame for una. i work 12 hours morning and Night shift 7-7 at Guiness Benin city factory for less than a 100 dollar pay.. most of the time we stand. wtf

I have friends that are bricklayers and I am like we do the same thing but the pay is way different.

These few weeks have been really stressful for me.

Last Friday was another stressful day for me.

Everything was going smooth until I headed for the store, the genesis of the stress.

I always have this plan of heading to the store quickly and coming out within minutes, it has never happened oh

On getting to the shopping mall, the fire alarm tripped off, forcing everyone to come out. We all stood there for an hour before it was restored and allowed back in.

After getting in nah, I started stocking up for the weekend and the next week. Not until I got to the counter before I realized I had bought more than I can carry, and I didn't go along with a big bag plus I went out with a bicycle that has no basket. Double trouble

The worst part, I can't use the bus except I have to park the bicycle in town and come back to town to get the bicycle (I could have used the bus with the bicycle and my loads, but it's past the time I can take a bicycle bicycle on the bus).

I had no choice than to rugged myself home oh
The ride was so slow because of the too much weight on it, and some point, I had to push the freaking bicycle and the load, so freaking stressful .

Lol, standing is not even the problem, but the stress attached isn't here.
No unskilled work is easy in Germany sha. Because most times they don't allow you to seat at all, but you get 1hour Pause.

I met a Chinese friend at the train station today, and she said she works in a shopping mall, but the only issue is that she doesn't seat .

The pay really depends on a lot of factors, whether it is through a job agent or direct jobs and the likes.

But mostly €9.50 through agencies sha. But it also depends on the work itself.

Yes. When you earn more than 450 you get taxed.
But most times, this 450 euros covers your house rent and insurance and you have only about 10 or 20 euros more.

Thank you for the drama that happened while I was away. It was fun reading it and really eased my stressful week

I think it's safe to say that making one Euro here in Germany no be beans at all, coming from Nigerian work experience.

No time for playing.


Remember I mentioned how a journey of an hour turned to 4 stressful hours last week? The fact that I needed to pick something at home and head out again?

Well I was going home to pick my safety boot for a night shift I had. Little did I know I have not expressed the greatest stress yet.

Getting home to pick the safety boot and heading out again, I had no time to rest.

In short, I started the night shift work in a biscuit factory from 10pm to 6am.

What I did basically was packing 5 biscuits into a big pack, then send it to a taping machine and it rolls off to logistics department.

All these were done while standing.

I had to be fast because the biscuits won't stop coming so speed was need.
I was battling with a lot of things, the stress I expressed during the day, back pain, leg pain, hand pain, the pain of not closing my eyes since 5am that I work up.

In my mind, I was just cursing the owner of the biscuit factory and the day I showed interest in the job.

Shebi I said time was fast in Germany, nah line oh. The time is freaking slow when you have to work while standing.

Immediately my supervisor announces 5 minutes Pause, I dash out of the freaking place. But at that moment, the time gets faster and I report back to work.

In short, I worked myself out on Saturday and had to sleep all through Sunday, starving at some point.


Morale of the story .
When you hear the pay, it makes sense in naira. But please don't be fooled, everything goes back to the system.

If you have the mentality of coming to Germany to hustle with student visa, these are the kind of unskilled blood sucking jobs you will get and trust me, you will surely grow old very fast. And the painful part, half of your money goes back to the government who in turn pay them to their senior citizens and those without jobs that end up using it to smoke cigarette and drink beer, and still hate you for being black.

Funniest part, one will think a lot of people working these jobs will be foreigners. Nah lie oh, most of them are citizens.
This I think is the main reason they need skilled works and thereby making their education free to bring in people to fill the space.

I remember when I first arrived the United States and I joined a Nigerian Church close by.

A member was having a Birthday Party & they decided to go to a Local Restaurant to celebrate.

They asked me to join & I was thinking it was free, I didn't know everyone was gonna pay for their Meal.

When everybody was done eating & they waitress brought they bills everyone pulled out their Debit Cards & Credit Cards and paid for their food.

I was very lucky I had my Debit Card on me, if not I would have been seriously embarrassed.

I was a JJC back then. Nowadays if people invite me out the usual expectation is that I will pay for my meals.

The only time I eat free is during Owanmbe Parties organized by Nigerians.

Heck even when I was living with my elder sister we split the bills. Most times she buys the Groceries and I reimburse her my own part of the actual cost.

This shit kinda feels awkward to me since I'm not used to splitting bills between two people.

Even now that I'm dating a Girl, when we go out to eat, I usually pick both of our tabs to avoid embarrassment.

They only time I let her pay is if she insist on paying for her meals.

But I kinda like it though when I see couple splitting the bill especially when the go Grocery Shopping or the Restaurant.

At least the Girl is bringing something else to the table apart from sex & that's one thing I like about White Girls they carry their own weight in a relationship unlike most Nigerians Girls.

But for me I did rather pay for both of us than split the bill

the stuff is still alien to my body.

I went to a summerfest organized by my department recently. I was thinking since part of out semester goes to the association and the normal Nigerian way of things nah, everything will be free...... Na lie oh, this guys came to sell market. I vex leave the place.
The Indian guys don wise up, they went to the store and bought everything they needed.

This people party get as e be, it's either they ask you to pay for everything you eat, or you pay for drink or they just offer something not enough for a grown up Nigerian man

To think the lady asked what I would like to eat at her reception, I said sea food nah since it's expensive and I don't get to eat it everyday.

Guess what she prepared.....









Sea weed , sushi and some other small small bread things.
And I didn't eat before going oh, thinking I will have my dinner there.
