Downloading is illegal and so is streaming to some extent. But everyone one streams here. I download mixtapes from Naijaloaded, not a big fan of music.

Update about the delay.

The journey of an hour turned to 4 hours, I had to take a train to a place I haven't been before and from there, DB provided a bus to take us to the final destination.

Saturday was a very rough day for me. I slept all through Sunday, to the extent that I forgot to watch Power

In the middle of nowhere

Frankfurt that I normally enter and exit with palava is now given me real issues.

I am stuck in Frankfurt, every train leading to my direction is canceled and I need to pick up something at home and head out again, I don't know what to do now .

All I can do is watch and cry in Adele's voice

Solution=student hostel.

Trust me Frankfurt is set up... Lol. There are a lot of jobs no doubt, but for someone that doesn't speak the language, not much and not easy to come by

I spoke my last drop of German today

Some weeks back, I approached Studentenwerk(office in charge of hostel accommodation and cafeteria) for work and the cafeteria rejected me because of the language, but at the Studentenwohnheim(dorm) section, I formed German speaking for the woman oh. I was just Ja'ing, Nein'ing, kein Problem, Alles klar'ing everything she said.

Not that I didn't understand all, but the I just didn't understand most of it and I wasn't ready to lose another job because of language.

In short sha, she said she was going to send me an email, my homezone (Google translate)

She emailed me and called me(Alles klar things ) but I actually understood what she said, she was just confirming the Termin(appointment).

I was offered a position in Garden work and I was to do a 4 hours Probearbeiten (sample work) with the person I will be working with.

The Probearbeiten wasn't funny at all, I rugged everything with the man oh, we die here. But I was surprised I understand 80% of everything he was saying and the man was super nice. I sha worked 5 free hours that day (50 euros at least should have been paid )

A lot of long stories happened in between sha and I was skeptical about taking the job, aber (but) I just went to the man to confirm the work for me today with we die here attitude.

A very nice German friend sent me some few phrases to practice for the man because the man was complaining to her about not speaking German well, and she told me to practice a lot of words, but I didn't just practice, what will be will be I told myself. No need faking what I don't know.


The man and I dragged it today oh, I was sha understanding him, but I just pitied him because after speaking his long phrase I only pick fragments and join them in my head . At a point, he had to start using Google translate to converse with me in English.

I stood my grounds and said that I tried nah, I am just few months here and I could understand him

Well I passed his stage and I have paperworks(they too like plenty paper here) to fill and move to the final stage to know if I get the job or not.

You would get frustrated at some point learning the language but it's all part of the process!. Also, try to speak more. I had no German friends to practice with during my time but I practiced in my intensive course and also at home by speaking to myself basically , sounds crazy but it works, trust me!.



Ps: Having a German friend doesn't mean you will master the language. I've seen people recommend looking for a German friend as if it's easy to make friends here. Don't stress out yourself on that at all.


Also know men here who are married to German women but don't know how to speak the language .

Also know people who have lived here for decades but don't know how to speak the language.

My point is that, you only learn the language if you are really determined and motivated.

During my time, what motivated me was that I failed my placement test . The test you write to know which language course class you should be.

The director of the school consoled me that day, cause I was so angry, lol .

Imagine I didn't know what ball was called in German then . It was one of the questions in the test.

I can relate.

Learning the language is pure motivation and I know I am so motivated about it and so happy things are falling in place.

My goal this month is to follow through with the intensive lectures on DW till say A2 or B1.

DW is so good. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to learn German. I used it while preparing for my entrance exam. I enjoyed their video series the most and you also get to practice what you learnt.

I've always heard that the language course offered to international students in the universities is not really that intensive.

Yeah. I recommend it anytime any day.

I don't know why they offer those courses sef. Well basically, many people register because of credit points

Registration at Vhs has closed but I am now in love with DW intensive course and my learning pace amazes me.

With what I have learnt so far from DW I can say that the course I paid for at the university is a waste so to say.

People get employed from different countries without speaking German, but trust me life will be frustrating here without German.

When every letter you get is written in German you will blame yourself

. Now, you get me. Our neighbour once pasted such paper on our door. My flat mates and I ignored him. I wondered what prevented him from talking to us directly. The paper was left on the door, don't know if he ended up removing it.

I often feel disturbed when they see me and just to wave or say Hi will be problem. They just ignore one like plague even to their fellow Germans oh.

I am not just used to this life as per Nigerian guy nah. But I have a thick skin now

I canceled my house contract already. I will be out of this place by the end of July.

But I had issues while canceling my contract because I went there late and they weren't going to cancel it until ending of August because of the 6 weeks notice, but I negotiated my way though.

I pray the stealing continues when I leave so it wouldn't seem like it was the black guy that has been stealing

Germany to the beat of my knowledge welcomes alot of skilled expatriates especially in the world of IT.

I really do not know the chances of employment, but one thing I know for sure is that, when one is highly skilled and understands the language, then the land is green.

I can't laugh alone .

Someone has been robbed overnight

S bahn is tunnels are closed till 3rd of August.

This means long distances trains and S bahn have to share the same track which automatically means the train connections are going to be messed up and trains gets delayed often

I learnt this the hard way.
