How I get lost in Frankfurt.

Anytime I am in Frankfurt, I often want to get something from Lidl and I check on Google map to get the nearest one, then I use DB navigator to show train, bus or walking connections.

The U train is often the problem. I often mistake the limes for each other and I often forget to read the description(final destination) on the train. Once I just see the line, I just in.

When I mean line, there are certain trains and busses that take certain routes and stops at certain bustops where the other one might not. But the problem is, there are often two lines, one that is coming from the final destination and one that is going to the final destination.

So must times in Frankfurt, I take the correct line but the one heading in the wrong direction. And the crazy thing is, the moment I enter the wrong line and did not detect quickly, I would have wasted about 30 minutes.

I hate Frankfurt. Why?
It is too big and modern plus I get lost every blessed time I navigate through the city. It is just like Lagos to me, so stressful.

I am very sorry for saying Frankfurt is dirty . My God I found myself it the Eastern part of Frankfurt yesterday and I was amazed.

Sad part, I got lost countless times and had to trek long distances because there are more trams here than buses and I didn't go with bicycle

My heart hurts right now.

It is really sad reading bad news about Nigeria abroad.

My thoughts are with people that lost their family members in the killings that happened in Plateau state and the recent accident that happened in Lagos.

Germans respect their traffic code so much, but yesterday something thrilling happened.

Germany felt like Nigeria for few hours. A lot of noise up and down, cars running red lights, blasting of horns anyhow(every since I arrived here I am sure I can count the number of times I have heard vehicles hoot).

One will even think they hosted the world cup because everyone was out on the street with something to represent Deutschland either by face painting or flag and they were all heading to a public viewing area.


I was on the train when the game started, you need to see how it was filled up like #100 BRT from Super to Oshodi with virtually everyone watching the game with their handys' .


What a sense of patriotism that was displayed by Germans yesterday

The thief episode.
Everyone on my floor got thus letter. Every letter is in German

Thanks to my lack of German proficiency, I wasted the major part of today.

I think I got a call from McDonald yesterday that I should come. A friend and I applied for work online sometimes ago and we were called for interview but he got a rejection email afterwards and I didn't hear back from them until yesterday.

The craziest thing is that I presently do not know if they were the one that called me, because what I could remember from the phone conversation was Morgen which means tomorrow and the street where the place is located.

I went there today around 11.00 Uhr thinking I would be signing contract nah. When I got there, I kukuma speak my Nigerian English and the guy in charge of the shift delayed me a little and said I should come back by 3pm to meet the manager.

Long story short, I went back home and came back to the place at exactly 15:00 Uhr. I met another a different manager from the one that interviewed us and he was like he is not aware of any call being made to any worker. He said he would have to speak with the other manager then get back to me ,sorry for the inconveniences' he said.
So disappointing and right now I still don't know who called me. I will have to call the number back tomorrow.

I pretty hate the fact that I am losing a lot of Summer job opportunities because of the language and trust me this is the best time to work and save towards winter because the cold won't be funny at all. It is safe to say I am pretty frustrated right now.


Anyways sha, these people believe in their team. Almost every stores and cars are decorated with their flag.

Welcome to Deutschland, I was like that in the beginning, I ate only rice and stew, bread(American bread) and tea, then potatoes and spaghetti,
After about 3 Months I did not like what I saw in the mirror.
This is how my daily meal looks like.
Morning: I take oat and Joghurt with coffee/ bread and eggs with coffee; you can take this interchangeably
Afternoon: Something heavy, Rice and stew with meat/chicken/pork. or if I have egusi soup, Eba/gries/poundo yam.
Evening: I avoid eating much. vegetable salad or some hard german bread with cheese on it. or Just fruits.
If you are the very active type and not always at home switch evening meal with dinner but avoid eating heavy meals after 20 pm.
You can also add some protein shakes in between, it helps.
I really don't eat out, unless invited by friends.

Trust me, eating light for dinner will help you sleep well and read well..lol, not to talk about maintaining your six packs

I just have to change my routine, I don't like what I often see in the mirror I don't think I have come across protein shakes maybe you could give some recommendations.

I don't eat anything except Nigeria meals. Though I get bored sometimes but I don't really have any alternative. I'm even tired of chicken. Haven't eaten it in like two months. The chicken here isn't tasty, I'm sure you've noticed that.

Buying fish is cheaper in Asian stores. There is an Asian store around the main station. I think, there are actually two.....

I cook yam and also Irish potatoes. Spaghetti and plantain. Also Nigeria soups. Don't tell me you've only been eating rice ....

Let me tell you now, I often eat rice oder spaghetti or even eba every glorious day

Yes the chicken is tasteless and so soft.
I have been to the Asian store and seen their fish. I bet i will turn to that.

Some days, I am so hungry but tired to turn to my routine rice.

I can't forget the day I bought their potato I added overdose of sugar and salt still the taste was no where to be found.

Like willy stated earlier, look for another place to stay. I know it's hard to find an apartment here but you should really try!.

Also, try to keep your fruits in a tray in your room!. I don't really keep mine in the fridge and nothing happens to it..

I won't even be sure the person hasn't tried my Nigerian food. But trust me he or she will regret it because my foods are spicy

I am moving out of here very soon.

What do you often cook apart from Nigerian dishes? I am tired of rice and bread every glorious day. In fact I am tired of chicken. Fellow housemates have mocked me tire each time I fry chicken (Chicken again or rice everyday? ) the fish skinny fishes in Lidl costs €4.99 for two.

Henceforth no charity again. Every fruit stays in the room.

Bro , you mean, you live in a house with 18 rooms on a floor and the house mistress cannot arrange a locked refrigerator. You better start looking for something better, because once it is winter you won't like going to the supermarket always.

Sure. Will be canceling my contract soon. But I think that idea of locking refrigerator sef will narrow down the search for the thief

All my foods are Nigerian foods and they never for once touch either stew or ogbono not even beans.
Recently I stopped eating those because I am tired of it and now my stuffs becomes missing.

My only prayer is to be caught in the act.

Mistress? She has nothing to do. The only solution is camera and it's not legal in the living room.

We have discussed this several times someone even reported to the house mistress she said nothing she can do.

Funny day was the girl they stole her cooked food. She knocked everyone's door that very day

The thief hasn't stopped. He or she wants to die fast (which I came with rat poison ) just discovered one of my apples has been stolen and it got replaced with shey cheese abi sausage (I only it the rubbish when I am served outside).

Well, the only regret I see here is the food. Do I blame him. Me too, been the bush man wey I be, I have prepared for that. After all, can't a brother fast in peace again.... lol.

But as for the experience of the flight, my brother leave am, it's way better than Ethiopian. By the way, cost wise, Ethiopian Airways and Air Maroc cost more for August. They are only cheap during September.

Finally, the determinant of which flight to go with is always the cost first, duration of trip. Experience is the last. As for me, Emirates ticks all for me for late August.

I won’t advice you travel through African airlines. You must likely might regret the experience. I would advice you go with Emirates. My own opinion from my personal experience

Well I flew Ethiopian airline and they flight was top notch and always ahead of schedule.(except the fact that the tyre of one of my luggage was destroyed but I was way overweight no do I blame them no )

A friend flew emirates and he regretted it. Why, the flight was very long to Frankfurt and the food served were shitty. He starved for over 15 hours.

Whereas Ethiopian airline food was superb because they served rice.

There's always a notice about road closures.

There are 18 flatmates on my floor. 9 to the left and 9 to the right.
Yes fruits can be stored in my room but then I need to keep them refrigerated. Sometimes I do not go out or end up at the store so it's pretty difficult buying what I need at a time.
Plus the thief has made people to start dieting no ice cream or yogurt

Toilet/Bathroom nko, after you use it they will go and clean and disinfect it as if you are very dirty or have HIV.

Toilet these people will use the toilet and just to push the button to flush is war for them. Countless times I have met the toilet messed up.

I have been experiencing a lot of theft here. One will think the almighty white skins do not steal
The bicycle that I borrowed from a fellow Nigerian so that I could learn how to ride has been stolen between yesterday and today. The craziest thing is that I still saw the old bicycle yesterday evening when I was parking the bicycle I went out with.
I think I need to mention that there has been a lot of petty stealing going on here. Some months ago, the head and rear lamps of all the bicycles in the parking lot were stolen.

Even on my floor, there have been cases of missing Yoghurts, cheese, cooked foods and thankfully only my almost finished orange juice has been stolen and I am very sure deep down their heart, it is the Black man that is doing the stealing because I am the only coloured one on this floor

in my case, I'm learning arabic, and sometimes i don't get to practice it. but then i made friends with this gurl from saudi, and I tell you, when we are talking, the words just come out from my mouth and I'd be like wow! so I'm this good.

she understands some english so anytime i struggle with a word she says, she translates for me.

but it doesn't have to be a girl, make a lot of guy friends, and i mean cool chill guys. even if they speak english, insist on speaking german with them, although you will flop most of the times, but that's how we all learn... from our mistakes.

I understand. I am trying it presently with a flatmate that speaks well but we have not found the right approach to give it sha.

Na you oh. I can ride with one hand off. What I want to learn is how to ride while standing.

I have tried many times while I was still in Nigeria but I failed woefully. I never expected it tho

Do not give up and when next you try, learn how to balance first and never look at the floor while riding else you will end up falling. Just keep trying and have an open mind.

There are different types of bicycles here and they can cost as much as 2000 euros, these are electronic ones though. We got a neatly used mountain bicycle(it has about 10 gears) one from[sub][/sub] an app called shpock for 70 euros.

And you could ride a bicycle without owing one for free with NextBike as long as you are a student and the bicycle is returned within an hour of renting it.
