CelebritiesCleric Decry Worsening Security Situation In Nigeria by brickswrites(op): 2:00pm On Oct 06, 2021
As Nigeria commemorates its 61st Independence, a religious leader, Dr. John Yusuf Suberu has charged the Federal Government to take pro-active steps at ensuring adequate security of lives and properties.

In his sermon to mark his birthday in Abuja on Tuesday, the cleric noted that though Nigeria is blessed with vast human and natural resources, leadership has been its major problem since 1999.

The cleric, who doubles as founder of Touch for Recovery outreach Int’l and Dr.JS Yusuf Foundation, condemned the wanton wastage of lives, destruction of properties and insecurity in general, as he also decried the level of poverty occasioned by bad economy.

He lamented that the problem of insecurity had continued in the country because the government had failed to embark on vulnerability assessment to check areas of possible threats to the people.

According to the renowned clergyman, Nigerians are apprehensive over looming insecurity around them, even as he assured that adequate security arrangements had been made for the staging of an epic drama.

“It is the government that has the responsibility to provide security for its people, that is their core duty, to provide security for lives and property. They are trying but they must boost the confidence of Nigerians in the country’s security architecture.

“But we are all Nigerians, the government has not gotten it right. They are not doing enough. They need to do more in the area of security.

“Nigerians now live and work in insecurity. That is the general definition of security in the country right now. It is an insecure country.

“As a pastor what I do is to pray. It’s the prayer that is keeping us alive,” he said.

He added that he decided to mark his birthday with the less privileged as his little way of giving back to the society. “This gathering is to celebrate my birthday and give alms to the needy like we do any other day but this year, it calls for sober reflection on the unbearable condition that Nigerians go through on daily basis.

‘’I know how expensive things are in the market, I wish I can reach out to everyone in need to show how concerned I am but I pray for you and Nigeria daily for it to be better and everyone will have a life” he added.

The clergyman further called on those calling for the separation of Nigeria to have rethink saying, Nigeria is better united and that instead of calling for its disintegration, all hands should rather be on deck to make the country the envy of other nations.

PoliticsRe: Olawepo-Hashim: Only National Agenda Will Solve Nigeria’s Challenges by brickswrites: 12:44pm On May 25, 2021
FROM MY BEREAVED CHAIR

I write from my bereaved chair that Nigerian leaders are bereft of leadership ideas and concrete plans for the future. The challenge we face today didn’t start today but because we have leaders who are not futuristic like our founding fathers, we are plagued into this difficult situation.

I totally align myself with Olawepo-Hashim who said agitators of the Biafra and Yoruba nation are illiterates for Nigeria is not a mistake. The records are clear, the constitutional conferences and histories never recorded anywhere that Sir Ahmadu Bello, Dr. Zik or Chief Awolowo argued for having a one indivisible Nigeria.

It is also true that there is a sense of collective amnesia in Nigeria being suffered from the old and the young.

Nnamdi Kanu is not as intelligent as the eastern warlord, Ojukwu who couldn’t achieve Biafra, what made you feel the time has come?

Look, I just lost my Dad and seriously thinking how to give him a befitting funeral as my last respect owing to the fact that the economy is not smiling at anyone’s pocket especially, we the poor masses; but it pertinent to note that, this situation will be worst in 10years to come as we will be more exposed to life and expect things to take natural shape.

Only leaders who have the ability to think 20years ahead are people we should think into power now. The present crop of leadership is a great failure and disgrace unto themselves and their entire life. We can’t continue in this daydream

My brothers, Sisters, Friends from the East and west as well as Nigerians at large, the responsibilities of  protecting one’s country is a responsibility of all citizens, not only for the president.

When France had a weak government that encapsulated into the 2nd world war, patriotic individuals like Charles De-Gaul took it upon himself to mobilize for national resistant which is not different from what Olawepo-Hashim has being doing for the past six months. It is time to look towards this end. Hashim has unflinching love for Nigeria and its wellbeing.

Securing Nigeria and keeping its unity is his utmost priority and this has been his pride for over three decades. Nigeria’s disintegration is not the ultimate neither Nigeria is not a curse.

Please it should be the last time we will read or hear about IPOB or Yoruba Nation. If it means defending Nigeria violently, no one has the monopoly of it.

Next please.......

The worst thing that can happen to Nigeria at this point is being disintegrated.

The same you will not be able to stay in the path you have choosen. The foolishness of the youth is overwhelming when we don't think properly but take sides when half barked self acclaimed leaders take a position.

Nigeria is the best thing happening now. I expect the youth to speak on the wayforward which only Olawepo-Hashim can give.

Lets begin to think #BetterTogetherWithGOH2023

This guy has every clue to what he is saying!
He is speaking as a Unifying factor; He has stood the test of time for defending Nigeria and the betterment of the country itself.

Look! The youth need to wake up and read in-between the lines, you dont join others to sing when you don't know what they are singing.

Olawepo-Hashim is not hungry and has never worked for government at any point. He has lived outside Nigeria for years and never thought of changing his green passport.

He was imprisoned just for Nigeria and was decleared Prisoner of Conscience. How else do we define one's love for his country?

We had better look towards this end in 2023 and know that Nigeria is strongly built to be one countrt where our strength lies.

proxillin:
This guy has no clue, no wonder he can't be president.

That's why I have been saying we have one party in Nigeria. Forget APC PDP and others ..they are all same party. Party of politicians versus the masses.

That's why it's easy for politicians in PDP are comfortable decamping to APC without blinking.

Politicians have the same common goal regardless of the party...to enslave the masses..

They will all kick against disintegration because they are also waiting for their moment to cashout. All of them are waiting for the opportunity to decamp to APC.

The oil well, china loan, legal impunity e.t.c is too sweet to see Nigeria break.

But Nigeria will break .

When a tribal president won't make security architectures work because his tribemen are criminals, the country will break

PoliticsRe: Agitators For Biafra, Yoruba Nation Are Illiterates - Olawepo Hashim by brickswrites: 2:11pm On May 24, 2021
You dont know his history, he has always been like this. He was imprisoned as a student union leader, he was named Prisoner of conscience.

He has visited demilitarized zone between North and South Korea 31 years where nuclear weapons are kept.

The problem with some of you is that you're ignorant and you're comfortable with it.

That's one the major problem with our generation.

He kmows what he saying.

Imsoblessed:
I really do not see a person like olawepo Hashim supporting the disintegration of Nigeria. Not because of patriotism, but because of his mouth. He is one of the people making money from the wicked oil industry system in Nigeria. Don't be deceived, he doesn't love nigeria(nobody really does) but the oil in it.

Gbenga Olawepo-hashim is second to non in terms of Politics and intellects in the present crop of Politicians in NIGERIA.

Its either we agree or YES, he is unbeatable. He says it point black. Nigeria's unity is not in any way our problem. It will be worst if we go our seperate ways.

I surely know that it will be Nigeria's waste if we dont give Hashim a chance in 2023 to right the wrongs already done to us.

PoliticsOlawepo-hashim Advocates Police Reform, Justice For Victims Of Police Excesses by brickswrites(op): 4:02pm On Oct 13, 2020
Politician and businessman, Mr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim has canvassed for an efficient police services run by well-trained men and women, motivated, and well paid, consistent with acceptable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), towards accountability, and the protection of citizens Fundamental Human Rights.

Olawepo-Hashim, incidentally a notable civil rights leader, and a 1989 Amnesty International Prisoner of Conscience stressed in a reaction to the ongoing ENDSARS protest that the action of heroic Nigerian youths is a noble one, deserving prompt attention.

But while the conduct of the protesters has been civil and peaceful, the politician regretted the widespread report of fatalities caused by police violent response to peaceful protests, aside the hauling of scores of peaceful protesters into police cells.

He stated: “I condemn the excessive use of force to handle what is otherwise a peaceful protest and commend the protesters for breaking a two-and-a-half-decade long silence in the face of myriad of injustice in the land. As one who has been a victim of such brutality in the hands of Nigerian security forces as students’ leaders in the 1980’s; I know what these current event means”

The veteran advocate of civil justice acknowledged the response of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu, to end SARS and ensure the redeployment of men of that dreaded unit but insisted that something more comprehensive is urgently needed.

Olawepo-Hashim insisted that “nothing must be done to apply force in crushing the on-going nationwide peaceful protests. As a matter of fact, under our laws, it is the obligation of the Nigerian Police to offer protection for peaceful protesters, not persecute and kill them. I urge the police authority to ensure the immediate release of all detained protesters and to investigate and bring to book all those involved in the brutal murder of protesters”
Other than that, “there must be accountability for the murder of these young Nigerians, and no one should attempt to sweep the issue under the carpet as it is the usual practice. I offer my heart-felt sympathies to the families, colleagues and friends of the deceased protesters”
He called on the National Assembly not to be silent in the face of the on-going nationwide protest and indeed, all true leaders of the people cannot be dead quiet at this time.

Olawepo-Hashim added: “The snare is broken! The Lord Himself is taking a way ‘the hearts of stones and replacing them with the hearts of flesh that will be sensitive to humanism, social justice and equity. The youth of Nigeria are taking the lead as they have already done historically in returning the nation to her true identity – lovers of justice, that who we truly are!’”

He concluded that the important work that law enforcement officers undertake every day to keep citizens safe must be appreciated by all and should recommend all disciplined service men for respect and honour, but this essential and noble duty should not always be at the expense of professionalism. This occasion must never be another event of police versus the people but police working with the people for better policing.

Comrade Okafor Obinna Innocent is a true Nigerian from the eastern part of the country. An entrepreneur, philanthropist, research analyst, gifted in innovation, ideas and creativity.

As a highly patriotic Nigerian, Obinna Okafor lays emphasis on servant leadership model as well as sanctity of public offices as regards to financial principle, accountability, probity, transparency and inclusiveness in all affairs of taxpayer’s money.

Engenders principle-centered approach for solving governance issues with penetrating insights and remedy to the devastating questions bothering on taxpayers money in view of misappropriation, mismanagement, embezzlement, unabated penchant for abandon projects and miscarriage of government priority projects which is a flagrant abuse of taxpayers money believing that a step by step pathway for living with fairness, integrity, selfless service and human dignity as roadmap for code of conduct in public service should be promoted by all and sundry.

Comr. Obinna is fervent about the Nation’s capital developmental projects after watching abandoned projects being funded with the taxpayer’s money decided to join the formation of Taxpayers Association of Nigeria in order to query and prob into how the taxpayer’s money is being expended and also persuade members of the association to imbibe the spirit of taxpaying culture that will continue to develop Nigeria to a desired form.

However, Comr. Obinna is of the view that there is need for symbiotic relationship between the taxpayers and government at all level.

PoliticsGov. Ayade And His Sojourn To Pdp’s Annihilation In Yala Lg_emma Bricks Oko by brickswrites(op): 1:16pm On Jan 14, 2020
The People’s Democratic Party may be on its way to annihilation in Yala Local Government Area of Cross State if the State governor succeeds in hatching his secret plot to impose an unpopular candidate on the people in the forthcoming council chairmanship election.

Personally, I would describe the outcome as a deadly anticlimax even before it happens.

The signs are already evident with a series of bad actions and public outcry that have greeted recent events by the governor in the state, Yala is heavy with tension and an error feeling hangs loosely in the air like a cannon ball waiting to drop.

The defection of prominent members of the PDP to another party in the LGA would be a sign of the litany of evils in the offing and this will culminate as the hurricane that will eventually dismantle the political landscape of the party should Gov. Ayade announces his choice candidate for the forthcoming council election as against the will of the people as being perfected. Elders have cautioned, but it appears as though, this 'dog' is no longer familiar with the master's whistle.

It is an established fact that Gov. Ben Ayade has taken yala very many steps backward than he met it. The microscopic few that have benefited from his government collectively cannot even solve one major problem bedeviling the people so, in all ramifications, Prof Ayade has not meant well for yala as all he has been doing from the day of his inauguration is to inflict pains and cause untold hardship on the people that gave their all to ensure his victory.

The people of Yala have lost many lives due to bad roads. Their source of livelihood cut off, land grabbing has become the order of the day, no inter-community market, absolutely nothing to write home about; properties are destroyed without commensurate compensation, too much of dust during the dry season, mud and impassable roads during the rainy season. And it appears as though, the governor is asleep to all of these.

Mr. Governor, haven’t you done enough? even with all these, you still want to kill YALA finally by trying to impose a candidate for the chairman of council for YALA people? Please, think.

If you continue in your quest to impose a candidate on the people for the forthcoming council election, the party would have been annihilated before the election proper.

Loyalty is the watchword for political parties and politicians but remember, you can have them as party members but work against the party’s success if they are not comfortable with the choice presented to them.

For the love of the party and oneness of the people, let love lead and let the people’s choice prevail.

Mr. Governor, you have a responsibility to help conduct a free and fair election. But it all begins with allowing the people to choose, allowing the party to chose and standing by that choice is an honorable thing to do. Please refrain from the thought of imposing a candidate on yala people for council chairman and make up your mind on the conduct of the elections in general.

LG as the third tier of Government is the closest to the people as it deals with people from the grassroots, a lot is left undone as there is no elected council chairman for over a period of time now and the people are not cared for.

You can be the one who brings hope back and not dispair, Be the unifying factor for the LGA rather than disintegrate the party and the people for selfish reasons.

Yala people are peace loving people but full of pride, you won’t be happy to see the other side of any yala loyalist if you push too hard. You have already incurred their wrath by putting them in sickness caused by dust, do no further harm. When everyone goes naked in prayers to the gods they know, you may not be here to tell the story or enjoy the wealth.
Be wise and do the right thing!

Posterity is waiting to judge you. But there is even an imminent banger, in the fact that you may go down in history either as the one who restored hope and development to Yala or the Messiah who killed his party in Yala, the choice lies in the choice you make.

PoliticsSoldiers Of Kwara Political Freedom by brickswrites(op): 3:43pm On Apr 24, 2019
Kwara State, in North Central Nigeria is one of the first generationstates created in 1967. The state is one of the poorest and leastdeveloped states in Nigeria, when compared to other states created inthe same period.

Historically, Kwara used to be a vibrant state with so many striving industries and a growing economy, but due to the emergence of a new political leader in the second republic, things changed and the fortune of the state of harmony never remained the same again.

About 4 decades ago, a medical doctor turned politician took over the political leadership of Kwara State; His name is Dr Olusola Saraki.

Olusola Saraki who is popularly referred to as the strong man of Kwara established a political dynasty that not only controls the political system of the state, but also influences the traditional, religious and social institutions for almost 40 years, precisely between 1979 to 2019.

The dynasty, which is currently controlled by Bukola Saraki was crushed and uprooted out of Kwara State in the 2019 general election by the All Progressive Congress (APC), led by its Governorship
candidate, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.

How Saraki got power

During Nigeria’s civil war between 1967-1970, Dr Olusola Saraki, a medical doctor turned politician, who had earlier lost election in 1966 in an area now known as ASA local government served as a major
supplier of medical services to the military government. His close contact with high ranking members of the then military authorities
gave him unhindered access to power at the highest level.

Dr. Saraki was one of the few individuals who made huge fortune from Nigeria’s civil war and with the aid of his acquired wealth during the tragic warfare that reportedly claimed over 3 million lives; Saraki
tactically positioned himself to take over the political space in Kwara State through politically motivated charity, which worked greatly in his favor.

When the military government prepared the transition process of handling power over to democratically elected government in 1979, Dr. Saraki became one of the delegates at the constitutional conference in
1977 and he eventually emerged senator in 1979 and has been influencing the choices of who become what in Kwara state ever since.

Upon Nigeria’s return to democracy in 1999, Dr. Saraki continued to hold unto the political control of the state. In 1999, Saraki installed late admiral Muhammed Alabi Lawal as governor of Kwara State, before his biological son, Dr Bukola Saraki took over in 2003.

In 2011, Olusola Saraki surrendered Kwara political leadership to his son Bukola Saraki and like his father; Bukola has been installing all political office holders in the state. Bukola Saraki is currently a senator, representing Kwara central senatorial district and also the senate president of the federal republic of Nigeria.

How Kwara was liberated from Saraki Dynasty

After the terrible defeat of Kwara opposition in 2015 under the leadership of Chief Iyiola Akogun, young people in Kwara State were outraged about the total lack of inspiration from the leadership of the liberation struggle. They resolved that going forward; they will
take their destiny in their own hands.

Sooner after, a pro-democracy group known as Kwara Must Change came to lime light with its unique brand of citizen’s advocacy and political mobilization. Kwara Must Change (KMC) is a civil and political advocacy group founded by a group of young people who are frustrated by the lack of social justice and good governance in Kwara State and are determined to change the status quo.

After the 2015 election in which the liberation struggle suffered a major setback despite being in the ruling government at the national level, most people were sober and demoralized, fearing that the hope of liberating Kwara from the shackles of Saraki dynasty might have been chattered.

However, Kwara Must Change surfaced out of the blues to change the atmosphere when it released a publication titled ‘’Kwarans have defeated mentality’’. The reflective publication by Abdulrazaq Hamzat,
the convener of of Kwara Must Change was released on May 25 2015, few days before the inauguration of the new administration and that singular action marked the birth of a new era in Kwara political
history.

In the publication which serves as a wakeup call for many Kwarans, Hamzat explained that the defeat of the liberation struggle in 2015 was as a result of a defeated mentality and has nothing to do with the
capacity of the Saraki dynasty. He therefore called for immediate reawakening to free the people’s mind long before any future elections.

To match action with words, leaders of Kwara Must Change which include Abdulrazaq Hamzat, Yusuf Olatunji, Hassan Adio, Ibrahim Olanrewaju and
many others led the reformation of Kwara Must Change and positioned the group to lead a long term struggle for freedom through massive
public mobilization and political mobilization.

The group’s public sensitization campaign led by the President, Abdulrazaq Hamzat gained wide followership both on conventional and social media, while its grassroots political mobilization led by the
state coordinator, Yusuf Olatunji, 3 senatorial coordinators and 16 local government area coordinators penetrated across the length and
breadth of the state. Kwara Must Change suddenly becomes synonymous with Kwara liberation struggle not only in Kwara State, but also across the country.

In numerous releases by Kwara Must Change, Hamzat had maintained that the group has only one mission between 2015 to 2019 and it is to break
the culture of silence imposed on Kwarans by the Saraki dynasty.

Hamzat is convinced that if they are able to get all kwarans talking about how they truly feel about the situation in Kwara in defiance to the culture of silence, the liberation will naturally take care of itself long before any election and the group provided a platform for that.

Between June 2015 to August 2017, Kwara Must Change released approximately 150 statements, countering government propaganda at all
levels and creating new discuss. The group basically became the pace setters that set the agenda for discuss in the state, leaving the state government and its political associates always reacting.

Within this period, other counter narrative radio programs by opposition political parties, particularly one anchored by Chief Iyiola Akogun had also became popular and it complemented the efforts
of the group in sensitizing the people.

Having successfully established itself as a major force in the state, Kwara Must Change in June 2017 announced its decision to recall the senate president, Bukola Saraki from the senate over what it described
as bad leadership and misrepresentation. Analysts have maintained that, the bold move by Kwara Must Change in championing the attempted recall of the senate president is the singular master-stroke that kept the fire burning and illuminated the kwara liberation struggle.

The recall of Bukola Saraki as announced by Kwara Must Change was earlier dismissed by the Saraki dynasty and described as empty noise from none existing entity, but after seeing how positively people
received the news, they became jittery and apprehensive, leading to issuing threat, blackmail and false propaganda against the group.

However, despite the numerous threats of violence and blackmail to the leadership of the group, Kwara Must Change insisted that the recall shall proceed and it went ahead to write the Independent National
Electoral Commission (INEC) to that effect. Later on, the recall exercise was aborted after INEC failed to supply the group list of registered voters in Kwara central senatorial district. But despite suspending the recall exercise in August 1st 2017, Kwara Must Change
continued its advocacy and local mobilization across the state, building on its popularity and visibility.

More than ever before, the group’s presence at the grassroots level became more visible and its media activities gradually expanded from social media to conventional media. It grew to a point that hardly
would you visit any part of Kwara State without a visible presence of Kwara Must Change and this is why they are being referred to as soldiers of Kwara political freedom. The group also played a major role during the 2017 local government election which exposed the
declining unpopularity of the Saraki dynasty.

In March 2018, leader of the group, Abdulraza Hamzat was reportedly declared wanted by the Kwara State government and he was invited by the Department of State Security (DSS).

In the Saaraki dynasty, Kwara Must Change is being referred to as a digital terrorist organization and this is understandable because its online engagement has made it impossible for the Kwara state government to get a pass for any act of irresponsibility.

Government media team on a regular basis discusses how to respond to the groups growing critical reviews and as a matter of fact, the mere mention of the name Kwara Must Change or Abdulrazaq Hamzat in
government circle often sends fear into their spines.

Despite not having any known sponsorship, the group continues to grow in scope and coverage and repeated attempt to buy them over didn’t yield any result. This led to accusation of them being sponsored by
kwara opposition. The Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki particularly accused them of being agent of All Progressive Congress (APC) national leader, Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Minsiter of Information and Culture, Alh Lai Muhammed.

However, the convener of the group, Abdulrazaq Hamzat insisted that the group is a self-sustaining pro-democracy group with no link whatsoever with the Jagaban or any politician in the state at the
time. Although, Hamzat said he has a great respect for Bola Tinubu’s democratic credentials, notwithstanding, he said he has no connection with the APC national leader, but he hopes to meet him later in the
future.

After Bukola Saraki left APC to PDP in 2018, the political wing of Kwara Must Change teamed up with other opposition political leaders who joined APC to form a united front against the Saraki dynasty
leading to the birth of #Otoge revolution.

The political structures of Kwara Must Change in the 16 local government also became an asset for the otoge revolution and the group’s massive and ever active online platforms also became a useful
tool for propaganda and information dissemination.

During the Kwara Bye-election in November 2018 in which the APC claimed its first major victory, Kwara Must Change played a leading role to make this happen and it was not surprising that shortly after
that election, precisely in December 2018, another sponsored publication emerge online, with the title ‘’ Abdulrazaq Hamzat: Tinubu’s agent in Kwara’’.

Prior to the bye-election, Kwara Must Change and 72 other youth led groups in the state had formed Kwara Rescue Alliance (KRA) with the aim of unseating the Saraki dynasty in 2019 and the victory of APC in
the bye-election was just the beginning.

In a release by Kwara Must Change in February 2019, the group had confidently declared that PDP will not win a single seat in Kwara State in the election and even though most people didn’t believe the prediction, the APC went ahead to clear all 3 senatorial seats, 6
Federal House of Representative seats, the governorship and the entire 24 state house of Assembly. It can therefore be said that the
liberation of Kwara State from the grip of Saraki dynasty came from political mobilization and master propaganda of the Kwara Must Change.

As the new era of freedom begins in Kwara, let all beneficiaries of the resolve of the people of Kwara work to justify the mandate given to them by the people.
