spyder880: An experienced professional is supposed to go look at the work done and make further recommendations. Parapets are for the external walls and needs to hook on some pillars, so it should have been provided for in the initial building plan.

bright87: Hi to my building gurus in the house, especially to Spyder as I have been a follower of your thread.
I am currently building a a two (2) flat bungalow of three bedroom each with three toilets on each flat. The building is already above lintel and we are planning for parapet. Now my concern is that there are not enough pillars in the building to hold the parapet, but my engineer has said that it doesn't matter, he seem to be sure of his job and he has assured me on that, but am still worried, because i know that anything concrete is very weighty. There are only four (4) pillars on the entire building. i.e two each at the entrance of each of the flat, the guy who sells the rod said that we might need to put more pillars in the building otherwise there would be crack on the building, I am worried as I am not around, my sister is in charge of the project. Now my questions are these:

(1) Do you guys think that it's safe to have a parapet on the building without building more pillars ? The building only has four (4) pillars just on the entrance on each of the flats
(2) Can I use 10mm rod for the parapet instead of 12mm ? as I personally think the parapet is more of a design thing.

Please your advise would highly appreciated.

Dogohson: The gal is just on a roller coaster emotional ride. It does appear to me that she is highly emotional by nature. Believe you me, thats exactly how she's going to elope with someone else if the opportunity arises. My concern is for her Ex whose heart is probably in tatters now, while he of whom she is dying for is seeking for ways to detach from her. What a paradox

Well I actually met with her again yesterday, I told her to see me after work and she did, well I have actually asked her to take some time off from me to go and think properly what she wants.. I even went as far as making her understand that she might be lusting for me and not love.. I just told her to think and decide and let me know and that I would be willing to let her go if her love for her ex- is greater that what she felt for me.. I am not greedy as most ppl think I love her, I have other women flocking around me which I simply can't date or have fun with them because I dont feel anything for them. I wudn't wanna hurt her if she is truly sincere with me.. From what she has told me so she said she felt very bad and that she felt she has cheated on her ex- who has been nice to her, dating him and telling him no sex until marriage and here we have crossed the bridge.. If i was truly greedy i wud keep having fun with her and not wanting to know if she truly loves me.. I am simply kind of confused, just that I get this mixed feelings and she also feels bad knowing that I think she will return back to her ex- when i leave.. But the fact remains that I never enticed her with money or anything materialitic, there are quite a lot she doesn't yet know about me as regards my possessions
