According to them,

Asiwaju Adini of Oyo state, Alhaji Kunle Sanni, and other top Islamic scholars have attended the program to grace the commissioning of the worship center which converted to a mosque.

According to Barrister Akinola, one of the Islamic scholars who attended the program, the entire building is dedicated to the worship of Almighty Allah.

Ibadan Oyo state was full of crowd on Thursday when some Nigerian Islamic scholars stormed Olomi Ayegun, Fatusi area to commission the mosque which was formally known as Oke Iyanu Cherubim and Seraphim church before the founder, pastor Mary converted to Muslim.

Barrister Akinola added that Former pastor Mariam Magdalena explained that she had a dream that she saw entire members of her church performing obligatory prayer just like the Muslims are normally doing in the mosques. That was how the entire church accepted to convert to Islam with her due to her kindness to them.

Femi Fani-Kayode, former minister of aviation, and Tunde Bakare have decided to sheathe their swords after a spat between the duo over a sermon about Bola Tinubu, national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC)

On December 23, Bakare, the serving overseer of Citadel Global Community Church, formerly known as Latter Rain Assembly (LRA), delivered a sermon in his church, where he said God does not need anyone’s permission to put Tinubu, former governor of Lagos, in his hall of fame.

The fiery preacher, known for his criticism of Tinubu’s style of leadership, had praised the APC chieftain and castigated some Yoruba elders who are against the former governor.

The sermon had generated a lot of reactions online, with most social media users criticising Bakare for speaking out of both sides of his mouth.


In his reaction to the sermon, Fani-Kayode had written an article titled “Who is Squeezing Bakare’s Balls?“, where he also alleged that the preacher could have changed his initial position on Tinubu as a result of a “deep dark secret” the APC national leader’s camp has on him.

In his response, Bakare dared Fani-Kayode to expose him if there is any shady deal he could have had in the past, saying no one in the country “or elsewhere in the world can blackmail me over anything done in the past to anyone or with anyone”.

Fani-Kayode replied again that the preacher is not God and he will “respond to him fire for fire”.

TheCable, however, gathered that Dele Momodu, a media mogul, reached out to the two men to end the spat.

“My own Brother, happy new year ahead. Pls let’s cease fire and start the new year in peace and happiness. Love you always,” a message sent by Momodu to one of the parties read.

In his response to the call for a truce, Bakare was said to have stated that no “amount of cyber terrorism or social media attack can change our position”, adding that his church is committed to the “timeless principles of God’s word”.

Fani-Kayode had also posted an update on his Facebook page on Wednesday that the disagreement has been resolved.

“Just concluded a 3-way conversation with Pastor Tunde Bakare and Mogaji Gboyega Adejumo, spokesman of the Yoruba Summit Group,” Fani-Kayode wrote.

“We clarified all issues and put the matter behind us. My respect for Pastor Bakare remains high. I thank Mogaji and Chief Dele Momodu for their intervention.”

The Origin Of "ÌYÀWÓ" (The Yoruba Word For Wife)!!!

It is unknown to many speakers of the Yorùbá language that the original Yorùbá word for wife is ‘AYA’ and not the commonly used ‘Ìyàwó’.

Back in the early years of the Yorùbá people, the word “ Iyawo “did not have a place in the Yorùbá language not until an incident brought about its coinage and usage. Old Nigeria present you the origin of the Yorùbá word Ìyàwó .

Origin of the Yorùbá word Ìyàwó:
Long ago in Yorùbá land, a beautiful princess and daughter of the first king of Iwó town named Wúràọlá was in the quest of getting herself a patient, tolerant and well mannered husband.
Strong and good looking men, the likes of Sàngó, Ògún and others, had already traveled to Iwó town to seek the hand of Wúràọlá in marriage but left not with a wife but uncontrollable anger. Wúràọlá had been rude to everyone of them. In fact, she hurled insults and curses at her suitors which made them all leave on the same day they arrived the town of Iwo because they couldn’t tolerate her bad behaviors.

Ọ̀rúnmìlà, a good looking man, also journeyed to Iwó in the bid to win the hand of Wúràọlá in marriage. But before he set out, he had already consulted Olódùmarè , the supreme being, through Ifá . Olódùmarè revealed to Òrúnmìlà that he must be patient with Wúràọlá and endure her behaviors no matter how bad they are in order to succeed in the quest of marrying Wúràọlá .

When Òrúnmìlà got to the palace of the king of Iwó, he was greeted with a hiss and scornful look by Wúràọlá. The unperturbed Òrúnmìlà smiled and returned her greetings with kind and sweet words and also presented gifts to the king.

Òrúnmìlà stayed in Iwó for seven days which can be described as nothing but a hell on earth. Wúràọlá didn’t serve Òrúnmìlà water let alone food. She insulted the goodness out of Òrúnmìlà but he stayed calm and smiled at her. He even smiled when she used his opon ifa (divination board) as firewood and when she took his pouch (àpò ominijekun) from him. Though, Òrúnmìlà boiled with rage, still, he didn’t show it or leave Iwo according to the instructions of Olódùmarè .
On the sixth day of Òrúnmìlà's stay in Iwó town, the king of Iwó gave Wúràọlá in marriage to him after concluding that he is a patient, kind and tolerant man suitable to marry his daughter. Meanwhile, Wúràọlá's bad behaviors were planned to test her suitors so as to get her a husband with good manners and temper. She was a lovely, caring and well behaved lady. Òrúnmìlà was glad that he heeded to the instructions of Olódùmarè and on the seventh day, he and Wúràọlá journey back to his town.

Òrúnmìlà was welcomed and praised by his townspeople for his achievement. When they asked him about Wuraola, his wife, he responded, “Ìyà tí mo jẹ ní Iwó” (my sufferings in Iwó town ) That was how wives became known as Ìyà-Iwó (sufferings in Iwó ) and now Ìyàwó . So men don't be afraid or surprise by what you experience daily, it started ages ago....!

I think NIMASA is really trying to cut down some Fake people coming with fake stamps on their discharge booklets by first putting a call to the company to verify if you really worked onboard their ship before interviewing you for your eligibility letter.

BREAKING: UK court orders P&ID to make interim payment of £1.5m to Nigeria

The Federal Republic of Nigeria (FRN) Thursday appeared in the English High Court for a scheduled hearing.

The hearing followed the major victory secured by FRN last Friday, allowing it to bring a fraud challenge against a $10 billion arbitration award obtained by vulture-fund-backed P&ID well outside the normal time limits.

In a statement on Thursday, a spokesperson of Attorney General of the Federation said Nigeria will now proceed to a full fraud trial. The hearing Thursday was held to decide procedural and costs issues relating to the FRN’s applications to challenge the arbitration award and to determine the short term directions to trial.

The sitting Judge of the High Court, Cranston J ordered P&ID to make an interim payment of more than £1.5 million within 21 days to cover legal costs the FRN incurred as part of their successful application for the extension of time to challenge the arbitration award and procedural hearing earlier in the year.

A case management conference to determine the full trial window is scheduled to take place after November 2020.

A spokesperson from the Attorney General of the Federation said:

“This is another crucial win for Nigeria in our ongoing fight against the vulture-fund-backed P&ID. We are pleased that the English Courts have taken our fraud challenge seriously, and awarded us a substantial interim payment in respect of our successful application for an extension of time to challenge the award.

This is a significant blow for P&ID, who continue to attempt to delay the process.

“To date, P&ID and its financial backer VR Capital have not produced a single document or credible witness to challenge the FRN’s fraud evidence. Instead, they continue to resort to disseminating misleading claims, while taking every step possible to delay or obstruct our investigations across multiple jurisdictions.

“The FRN remains firmly committed to overturning the injustice of the $10 billion award, and will not rest until we secure justice for the people of Nigeria – no matter how long it takes. Investigations into the GSPA are ongoing, and we are confident that more of the truth will be revealed over the coming months.”

The spokesperson further stated that “the Honourable Attorney General would like to clarify his remarks made on Arise TV, as reported in an online medium yesterday [Not Vanguard].

“There will be no negotiation or talk of settlement with P&ID or any related party by or on behalf of the Federal Government of Nigeria. The recent judgment of the English Commercial Court confirmed our view that P&ID and its cohorts are fraudsters who have exploited our country. They will not benefit from their corrupt behaviour.

“This is a classic case with overwhelming fraudulent and corrupt undertones. The Federal Government of Nigeria is not considering any possibility of negotiations with P&ID. It has not only fallen within the tall order exception referred to by the Hon Attorney General in his interview with Arise TV yesterday, but lacks any legitimate foundation. We will not and cannot negotiate arbitral awards where the basis and foundation rely on fraud, corruption, breach of processes and procedures.”
