The Ondo State Government on Tuesday inaugurated the Ondo State Security Network Agency also known as Operation Amotekun.
A few months ago the bill setting up the security agency was passed into law by the state House of Assembly, and shortly after, the bill was signed into law by the State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN.
At the inauguration of the agency held at the Gani Fawehimi Arcade in Akure the state capital, Akeredolu said with the Amotekun in operation, there would be no more room for all kinds criminalities in the state.
No fewer than 192 recruited members of the corps were inaugurated at the ceremony.
The governor expressed optimism that no criminal element would trouble the relative peace enjoyed in the state as the agency had commenced operations.
He said, “It was so horrible that marauders laid siege to the highways as well as in the farmlands waiting to kidnap or devour anyone in sight. With the launch of the Amotekun, we resolved that it shall be no retreat, no surrender. We are not going to be intimidated or blackmailed.
”It is incontrovertible that the existing security framework is being overstretched and we had to devise a means of confronting the challenge of insecurity head-on. That was when the concept of Amotekun came up. As Yorubas, we are not known to surrender to our adversaries and if our forebears did not, we should not.
“On 4th March, this year, just two months after the launch of Amotekun in Ibadan, the Bill setting up the Corps was signed into law, after diligent and thorough work by the State House of Assembly. The import of this is that Amotekun Corps is now a legal entity not just the idea of an individual.”
The governor however noted that the agency was not inaugurated to pursue his second-term agenda.
“I am saying it again, that my ambition is not worth the insecurities that our people are confronted with, where at some point, people were afraid of travelling out of the state,” Akeredolu declared.
The Amotekun corps Commander, Mr Adetunji Adeleye, said the personnel were trained in collaboration with experienced hands drawn from the various security agencies in the state.
He reiterated the corps resolve on zero-tolerance to crime through robust intelligence sharing with security agencies to reduce the spate of criminality in the state.

Amid was through for the day, and Rokibah was waiting in front of the gate for him. He packed up his books and walked towards the exit. He passed by an undergraduate class and saw how the students were arguing over the maths problem they had been told to solve. It was such a simple math with a lot of steps though. Amid noticed whoever their teacher was, must have probably stepped out...
“It’s such a simple math…” He said from the doorway
The entire class turned towards him with different looks, some gave the look of “Who is he?”, others “ Oh Really, then show us how simple.”
Amid walked into the lecture room, took the white board marker, and to what looked like magic to everyone, he solved the Maths equation till the second to the last step...
“Oh!”
“Ok!”
“Right!”
“Wow!”
“Really?”
These were the words popping out of the mouth of the students as they watched Amid solving the equation effortlessly.
“You have two more steps to go...Whoever finishes it first gets 1500 dollars from me” Amid said dropping the marker
“You are serious?” Asked one of the students
“I don’t tell lies!” Amid said laughing
Amid picked up his bag with the intention of leaving the class but as he turned he saw the “not so impressed” staring eyes of Peter...
“Impressive!” Peter said
“I am sorry, I realized they didn’t know how to move past the first step...” Amid said defending himself as he walked towards Peter at the door of the class...
As Amid walked out of the Class, he whispered to Peter in a very playful way...
“Sir, that was a tough one, even we postgraduate students would have a hard time solving that!” Amid said trying to establish a friendship with the Lecturer.
“And you are?” Peter asked. He was a bit skeptical about the man, who was trying to bribe his students with $1,500.
“Amid Roqeeb!” Amid said
Peter felt like a hammer was used to hit the alert button in his head...
“Muslim?” Peter asked
Amid was surprised his religion was the first thing the Lecturer was asking him. He was expecting a question as to what course he was studying...
“Ermmm... Yes” Amid replied carefully
“Hmm…” Peter said raising his eyebrow...
“Any problem?” Amid asked
“No... Just surprised A Christian University would admit a Muslim... Could it be that the School is losing focus...?” Peter said in irritation
“Hmm... I really don’t know what to say, but my being a Muslim shouldn’t be a barrier of being taught by the best lecturers in the country. By the time I graduate I intend teaching in a government owned school, that way I will pass my knowledge to children regardless of their religion...”
“Fine… It was nice meeting you, but please don’t make it a habit of interfering in my lecture.” Peter said walking off before Amid could say anything...
“But that wasn’t necessary... He didn’t mean any harm!” The Holy Spirit in Peter Chided Him
“Every Muslim mean harm to Every Christian... They killed my Son Abraham”
“You shouldn’t judge the whole people by the actions of a few bedeviled ones” The HOLY SPIRIT in Peter said, but Peter wasn’t interested in that voice.

My point here is that none of the above-mentioned attacks were done by Muslims. These weren't Muslims or neither affiliated with them or their ideas, in fact, they were Catholics. Even if all terrorist attacks were carried out by Muslims, you still could not associate terrorism with Islam.
There have been 140,000 terror attacks committed worldwide since 1970. Even if Muslims carried out all of these attacks (which is an absurd assumption given the fact mentioned in my above points), those terrorists would represent less than 0.00009 per cent of all Muslims. To put things into perspective, this means that you are more likely to be struck by lightning in your lifetime than a Muslim is likely to commit a terrorist attack during that same timespan.
When a drunk driver causes a car accident, we never blame the car manufacturer for the violent actions of that driver. This is because we understand that we cannot blame an entire car company that produces millions of safe vehicles just because a reckless person who used it to cause harm hijacked one of their cars. So what right do we have to blame an entire religion of over 1.6 Billion peaceful people because of the actions of a relatively insignificant few?
I will not deny that terrorism is a real threat, it definitely is. However, it is extremely incorrect to associate the words “Muslim” and “terrorist” when literally all the facts implore you to do otherwise.
Folks, how more naïve could we possibly be?
There are over 2.2 billion Muslims currently living on this planet. If they all were Jihadi’s or terrorists you’d probably be dead by the time you finish reading this sentence.
Over 1 billion Muslims fast for a whole month to go through the pain of the poor and we call these people terrorists. Revaluate, please?
Islam is 1400 years old, terrorism started 50 years ago after the west started invading Middle Eastern countries. There's your root cause.

Prince Tony Momoh, a former Minister of Information on Thursday said the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will use federal might and every other things it takes to win the forthcoming governorship election in Edo state.
Speaking in an interview with Daily Independent, Momoh, one of the national leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) also said all security agencies will be deployed to the state for the election, even though they will not be used to rig the election.
“Federal might is everywhere in Nigeria. We have Progressives Governors Forum; we have federal might and it is very obvious. So, nobody can say because he has incumbency, he can rig the election”.
“All the security agencies will be there in Edo, even though they will not be there to rig elections for anybody. The incumbency by the governor will be counter-balanced by federal might. So, we will use everything we have to retain Edo state”.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had fixed September 19 for the governorship election which many analysts believe will be a straight contest between the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) even though 15 political parties are participating in the election.
As it were in the last governorship election held in the state in 2016, the two major contenders in the election are Governor Godwin Obaseki, who is the governorship candidate of the PDP and Pastor Osagie Ize- Iyamu who is contesting under the platform of APC.
Momoh also said it will be wrong for anyone to assume that either of the political parties will win the election by a landslide because both candidates are tested politicians who have some advantages on their sides.
He said while Governor Obaseki enjoys incumbency factor and resources to mobilise the PDP, Ize-Iyamu as the candidate of the APC enjoys the privilege of being the candidate of the ruling party in the country.
“ When Ize- Iyamu joined APC, I said APC will overrun Edo because since he left PDP, they have been seriously decimated that they can’t win any election. But now, the governor of Edo state who was formerly in APC has moved to PDP and now he is their governorship candidate. PDP now has incumbency on their side”.
“I also said during my last interview that the governor will not move to PDP alone. He left APC to PDP with all the money that is coming to Edo state now such as federal allocation, internally generated revenue and so on. He will spend the money on PDP not PDP. He may spend it on the structures he has built such as education, infrastructures and so on but if he wants to spend it on any political party, it will be PDP not APC”.
“I also said he will leave APC with all the structures such as local government chairmen, ward chairmen and others. Also, during election, he may have the sympathy of teachers, civil servants and pensioners that he has been paying their salaries and emoluments”.
“All these are advantages for Obaseki because he may get sympathy votes from these people. So, based on this, I cannot say APC will overrun Edo again or that we will win by a landslide. Nobody will sweep that election”.
“The fact is, Ize-Iyamu has been endorsed by the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the APC, so he is the candidate of APC in Edo state. In 2016, APC defeated PDP with about 50,000 votes and Ize- Iyamu is a grassroots politician in Edo state”.
“So, he has the support of the APC in Edo state, he also has the support of grassroots PDP members who decamp with him to APC”. Inspite of the departure of the governor and incumbency, we have a grassroots man in APC. APC is in control of the seats in the House of Assembly.

No coronavirus yet the country was shut down, schools still closed, cinemas and places of worship shut, oil dropped to -ve, our neighbouring countries all saying there is coronavirus in their countries, Nigeria has probably lost more money due to the shutdown than they have "gained" from donations/helps... and some "sensible humans" still say there is no corona in this country.
Some people tire me for this country. Maybe someone should take these doubters to Lagos isolation centre, put them in the midst of 10 coughing covid-19 patients and let them doubters do breath-in 20times, morning, afternoon, night. We Muslims don't say and will NEVER call Jesus( Peace be upon Him), son of God. We believe him to be one of the greatest prophets and messengers of God, but not son of God. Even in the Bible, there are so many places where Jesus himself has referred to himself as servant of God, as son of man. He was also called prophet of God.
So, we Muslims believe in Jesus as one of the mightiest prophets of God, we believe in his message hood, prophet hood. That's why anytime his name is mentioned, we say " may peace of God be upon him." Therefore, Jesus is NOT son of God, because God begets not neither is He begotten( Lam Yahlid wallam yulad). If you need biblical proofs or evidence from the Bible to buttress my points, kindly quote me with respect, then I will give them to you.

Akewugbagold disclosed this in a post on his Facebook page in the early hours of Sunday
