The NNPC filed a motion in June 2024 to discontinue its legal action, which had challenged the deal based on its preferential rights under a Joint Operating Agreement with ExxonMobil. This motion is part of a broader settlement agreement that includes NNPC withdrawing all legal actions and both parties discontinuing arbitration proceedings. The settlement is crucial for completing the divestment of Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited (MPNU) to Seplat. The deal, initially announced in February 2022, faced delays due to legal and regulatory challenges, including a federal government decision to withhold approval. However, recent developments, including meetings with Nigerian leadership, have helped move the transaction forward. The court's decision on the motion to discontinue the lawsuit is expected to facilitate the finalization of the deal, which has been under intense scrutiny for two years. Despite the legal challenges, Seplat's stock remains stable, reflecting a 49% increase year to date. https://nairametrics.com/2024/06/13/nnpc-applies-to-withdraw-suit-challenging-exxonmobils-1-28-billion-asset-divestment-to-seplat/#:~:text=The%20move%20follows%20Seplat%20Energy,Mobil%20Corporation%20for%20%241.28%20billion. |
Raider76:Atiku has not affected anything here . No be everything be politics . Nnpc withdrew their case 2 months ago . Based on how their Jvs are structured NNPC went to court claiming they have the right of first refusal which they were not given an opportunity to exercise. |
megawealth01:No wahala . Enjoy.. |
megawealth01:Abeg call out another 20k own for us. My eye already dey inside Prestige |
MARKETJJC:Correct Guy. Sometimes na too much analysis dey kill person . I entered Oando even without knowing the details of this Agip deal . But since I saw Okpai power plant which is twice bigger than Geregu . I know say even 200 naira na starting point . Please ignore " Caster Semenya" . |
Streetinvestor2:You no sabi look profile to know which ones are new? |
ositadima1:Oga take it easy. It's disingenuous to tout a stock with ambitious price targets, only to later sell and suggest that those who haven't done so are making poor investment decisions. That is what he has been doing. Now i dont know if it is his hatred for Tinubu or something else. me self no like Tinubu but I need to make money It's important to remember that there are many people who are simply reading the comments without actively participating in the discussion. I never dey comment here no mean say I no dey see things . As for OANDO, there is not a stock in my portfolio that has come close to OANDO in performance, and I still see potential. So, if I disagree with the man saying "OANDO don cast," I have committed no crime. |
Streetinvestor2:This is your problem. Investment is a personal decision. Those who haven't followed your lead on OANDO shares may have different investment strategies .... no be only you get sense. |
Sunrisepebble:clearer explanation from chatgpt Oando PLC, one of Nigeria’s foremost energy companies, has completed a significant acquisition by purchasing 100% of the shareholding interest in the Nigerian Agip Oil Company (NAOC) from the Italian energy giant Eni. The transaction, valued at $783 million, includes both the assets and a reimbursement component, marking a pivotal moment in Oando’s strategic expansion. Key Highlights of the Acquisition: Increased Ownership and Operational Control: The acquisition doubles Oando’s participating interest in several critical oil mining leases (OMLs 60, 61, 62, and 63) from 20% to 40%. This expanded stake gives Oando greater control and influence over these key assets. Oando now has a significant ownership stake in the NEPL/NAOC/OOL Joint Venture, which includes extensive infrastructure such as 40 discovered oil and gas fields (24 of which are currently producing), 12 production stations, approximately 1,490 km of pipelines, three gas processing plants, and the Brass River Oil Terminal. The acquisition also includes the Kwale-Okpai power plants (Phases 1 & 2) with a combined capacity of 960MW, further solidifying Oando’s presence in the energy sector. Massive Increase in Reserves: With this acquisition, Oando’s total oil and gas reserves have increased by 98%, adding 493.6 million barrels of oil equivalent (MMboe) to bring the company’s total reserves to approximately 1 billion barrels of oil equivalent (Bnboe). This significant boost in reserves positions Oando for sustained growth in the upstream oil and gas sector. Immediate Financial Impact: The transaction is expected to be immediately cash-generative, providing a substantial contribution to Oando’s cash flow. This financial boost is crucial as Oando continues to pursue its long-term strategic objectives. Strategic Implications: Long-Term Growth and Operational Efficiency: Wale Tinubu, Group Chief Executive of Oando PLC, emphasized that this acquisition is the culmination of a decade-long effort, beginning with Oando’s entry into the Joint Venture in 2014 through the acquisition of ConocoPhillips’ Nigerian portfolio. By taking full control of these assets, Oando aims to optimize their potential, increase production, and drive operational efficiency. The company plans to focus on advancing production capabilities while adhering to responsible and sustainable practices, balancing the needs of host communities with environmental stewardship. Broader Strategic Diversification: Looking ahead, Oando is committed to exploring strategic diversification opportunities within the broader energy sector. This includes potential expansions into clean energy, the agri-feedstock sector, energy infrastructure, and mining. Such diversification is expected to provide enhanced growth and value creation for Oando’s stakeholders. Forward-Looking Statements and Cautionary Notes: Risks and Uncertainties: Oando has included forward-looking statements in its announcement, indicating plans for future acquisitions and strategic moves. However, these statements are subject to inherent risks and uncertainties, such as fluctuations in oil prices, the success of ongoing exploration and production activities, and regulatory changes. The company cautions that actual results may differ materially from current expectations, and readers should not place undue reliance on these forward-looking statements. Resource Estimates: The company also notes that the resource estimates provided, including barrels of oil equivalent (BOE) and natural gas equivalent (Mcfe), are based on certain assumptions and conversion ratios that may not represent actual value at the wellhead. Conclusion: The acquisition of NAOC marks a transformative step for Oando PLC, significantly boosting its assets, reserves, and production capacity in the Nigerian oil and gas sector. As Oando assumes the role of operator, the company is poised to leverage these assets for enhanced operational efficiency and long-term growth, all while exploring new opportunities in the energy sector and beyond. |
Sunrisepebble:this stock no go hit $1 in a few years time so? |
KarlTom:You dey mind them? Oando wey dey look 100 naira next bus stop ![]() I have stated severally that with the AGIP deal and the okpai power plant , Oando has no business trading beloww 100 naira. |
Princkez:2.6b Naira traded already . Very interesting |
mikeapollo:I know jare . Just trying to borrow the word of someone whose occupation since last week has been to talk down Oando and make it sound like he is the only smart one here who does DD. What I simply mean is that whenever the full bid takes a small break, I will buy more units |
KarlTom:Infact I was hoping it would cast today as someone predicted so that I can load more units. Full bid or casting all we will for our favour ...we know our bus stop. |
Oando has no business below N100 ![]() |
mikeapollo:Investors have varying perspectives on which stocks to buy or sell. I remain bullish on OANDO. Given its substantial oil production surpassing Seplat, larger power generation capacity compared to Geregu, and significant natural gas reserves (10-15%), its current valuation seems undervalued. Even if 2024 financials are subpar, the company's growth trajectory is undeniable. OANDO's recent statement encouraging local companies to lead the energy sector reinforces my optimistic outlook. https://www.thecable.ng/oando-indigenous-firms-must-step-up-to-drive-growth-in-nigerias-energy-industry/ |
emmanuelewumi:Meristem, Vetiva, afrinvest, Ucap and futureview are all recommending a buy for Wapco this week. Infact make I go top up. Their H1 result didnt look fantastic but your insight on their debt repayment makes sense, |
The only potential risk for Oando is being delisted; otherwise, there's no cause for concern. The Okpai power plant alone justifies a valuation well above 40 Naira per share, and that doesn't even take into account their oil and gas assets I entered @ 12 naira ...but we don build tent here ....na who get mind go last. |
SonofElElyonRet:If he like make he fall today . I no dey come down from this bus until I see 100 naira . |
I want to express my gratitude to everyone on this thread. It's quite interesting that this same platform where people have profitable financial discussions for mutual gains, is also where some people are killing themselves in the politics section. The knowledge shared here have been invaluable, but unfortunately, I've missed out on several investment opportunities. It's frustrating to be so close to placing a buy order, only to have a full bid start the next day. I don siddon with full chest inside AIICO. Does anyone have insight on cornerstone Insurance ? |
By this, we can consider this case closed ....No more argument . They are free to shutdown the state treasury from their villages ![]() |
asakoko:Wike was just doing Gragra, with a personal sworn affidavit , even supreme court know say the matter go hard to deny. |

Toluwanise247:you think Rivers is Osun state ? A state with almost 30b monthly IGR ? When OBJ withheld Lagos LG funds did anybody die? Rivers state govt can fund the LGs even without Federal allocation |
The same brand of whisky that Wike drank to celebrate Atiku's fall also led him to his political suicide . Wike will forever keep cursing that whisky he drank that made him direct the ex lawmakers to decamp , while thinking that "ON YOUR MANDATE.." slogan could save them . In Fubara's words "THEY ARE GONE" AN OWN GOAL IS STILL A GOAL |

phantom:oil dey your head . The individuals in question claim their departure from the PDP was justified and have obtained a court injunction to support their position. However, they seem to be contradicting themselves by denying the very act of leaving the party (defection) they used to justify their actions. There's evidence to suggest they left the PDP: sworn affidavits, pronouncements on the house floor, press conferences, and even meetings with APC officials. Yet, the PDP insists they are still party members despite these actions. I DEY LAFF. AN OWN GOAL IS A GOAL ....DEM NO DEY CHECK OFFSIDE FOR OWN GOAL . Wike and team scored an own goal without any pressure. This shows that God is really fighting for Fubara . They simply had no reason to defect. |
