PoliticsWhich Is Worse: 12 Years Of Pdp Misrule Or 38 Years Of Northerners Ruling? by brotherly(op): 9:20am On Apr 06, 2011
I constantly hear of 12 years misrule of PDP as the reason why GEJ should not be favourably considered.

In our 50yrs of indepedence Northerners have ruled for 38 years. Buhari who is the main opposition candidate has been there for 20 months without anything to show. A vote for Buhari extends the number of years we have had northerners ruling. The truth is if zoning is not an issue, then Buhari does not stand any chance. The average mallam politician sees himself as a mallam before he considers his party. This explains why some key PDP northerners are ready to throw their weight behind Buhari.

My question is in the very sorry story of nigeria, who gets more blame? The 12 years of PDP, or the 38 years of northerners?

alh uche: their votes were split

where are you getting this non-sense from

yoruba this yoruba that, they did not vote for obj 1999 and 2003 it is a known fact

i was in lagos in 2003 and obj lost in SW but ofcourse he rigged it;

seriously u need to know your facts before you put it down
I suspect you were born after 2003. And when we talk of facts , do you have facts? Since you were too young to know, why not ask your elders why AD the known afenifere party decided to adopt OBJ in 2003, thereby fielding no presidential candidate?

Dont tell me nonsense that  the elections were rigged. The SW voted with their entire life in 2003 FOR OBJ . I was here then.

Now talking about facts, let me help you with the voting results of 2003 from Inec records

2003 ELECTION RESULTS FOR SW

greateros: PLS SPEAK FOR YOURSELF CAUSE 65% OF MY IGBO FRIENDS AND BROTHERS ARE FOR PROGRESSIVE CHANGE IN NIGERIA - BB ALL THE WAY!

ITS TIME WE KILL TRIBAL SENTIMENT AND BUILD NATIONAL UNITY AND DEVELOPMENT
I guess you are dreaming, when you wake up after april 16, i will be very pleased then to hear from you.

Kill tribal sentiment? Has Buhari killed his? why were PTF projects massively skewed to favour the core north? please dont tell me some renovation of schools and a few buses were bought in the south. We are talking of equity here. We are talking of percentages that can be defended anytime.

Kill tribal sentiment? So why is Buhari's campaign corely in the north ? why is he banking on a run-off election , where he can be named president of this country by just getting massive support from just a section of this country all because of the fraudulent voting population qouted for them?

Kill tribal sentiment? So why are some core PDP members bent on northern presidency to the tune of supporting an opposition candidate provided he is of northern extraction?

Kill tribal sentiment? so why are the talks of possible alliance presently going on between the northern candidates and not necessarily through their respective political parties?

Please , please and please note that a combination of factors will guide voter choices in this election-----progress, religious harmony, and tribe. yes tribe . THIS IS NIGERIA DONT ATTEMPT TO MAKE IT AMERICA OVERNIGHT. Yorubas that are sounding so objective now voted massively for OBJ against Buhari in 2003 even when OBJ literaly failed between 1999-2003. Now tell me what guided the choices of the most sophisticated and educated voting region?

Wow, what a statement. Why am I not surprised.

This man is surely not our hope of fighting corruption. He just keeps making Jonathan look the lesser devil in this election. Somehow I remember Buhari was busy enjoying Abacha's Govt when the entire nation was seeking God's help to deliver us .

Excellent work from the author.

How can you attend a debate by one station and boycot the bigger stage where you have to reach the entire nation in one go. I just hope the opposition make a u-turn and show up for the debates, because in my view a lot of them performed poorly except shekarau, so its an opportunity to right the wrongs.
Christianity EtcRe: What Christians Songs Makes You Cry? by brotherly: 4:57pm On Mar 25, 2011
If you need songs that will bring those tears out, go the way of hymns, the words are so real and inspiring

Fade, fade, each earthly joy, Jesus is mine!
Break every tender tie, Jesus is mine!
Dark is the wilderness, Earth has no resting place,
Jesus alone can bless, Jesus is mine!

Tempt not my soul away, Jesus is mine!
Here would I ever stay, Jesus is mine!
Perishing things of clay, born but for one brief day,
Pass from my heart away, Jesus is mine!

Farewell, ye dreams of night, Jesus is mine!
Lost in this dawning bright, Jesus is mine!
All that my soul has tried left but a dismal void;
Jesus has satisfied, Jesus is mine!

Farewell, mortality, Jesus is mine!
Welcome, eternity, Jesus is mine!
Welcome, oh, loved and blest, welcome sweet scenes of rest,
Welcome, my Savior’s bosom, Jesus is mine!

Fading away like the stars of the morning,
Losing their light in the glorious sun—
Thus would we pass from the earth and its toiling,
Only remembered by what we have done.

Refrain

Only remembered, only remembered,
Only remembered by what we have done;
Thus would we pass from the earth and its toiling,
Only remembered by what we have done.

Shall we be missed though by others succeeded,
Reaping the fields we in springtime have sown?
No, for the sowers may pass from their labors,
Only remembered by what they have done.

Refrain

Only the truth that in life we have spoken,
Only the seed that on earth we have sown;
These shall pass onward when we are forgotten,
Fruits of the harvest and what we have done.

Refrain

pastor paul is a big fan of fashola, he is one of those who believe that fashola should continue his good work. Has fashola stopped being a muslim? No. Does  fashola show he promotes  any sharia/muslim agenda? No.

Pastor paul is simply saying that christians should not lie low while some jihadist sponsor and promote islamic agenda through the office of the president. Christians may still end up voting for a muslim, but christian interest MUST be protected.

I can tell you this is the thinking of christian leaders now. why is buhari moving from redemption camp to deeper life camp? we have equal stake in this country and the time  to keep quiet while another babangida, or buhari shows up is fast gone.

I sense serious arrogance here? I might as well just stop this debate so dont harass me.

Since sanusi took over it has been difficult limit CBN to just the monetary policy regulation tasks, The CBN governor has been involved in almost everything from textiles,to avaiation, to government injections into the power sector. so what are you talking about?

My point is simple, Soludo as a professional(though a politician now) should not play politics with professional advice if his intentions are not creepy.

PoliticsRe: Efcc, Icpc May Go After Soludo by brotherly: 7:05pm On Sep 24, 2010
@mikeansy

What are you saying? "Soludo did not attack the CBN he only made a critical assesment of the economy" whatever that means.

Alan greenspan is in the US, we are talking about a Nigeria that an unknown dannish cartoonist can set the entire northern region on fire when over 90% of the rioters can neither read nor write. (Just using this analogy to show the difference in phsyche btw US and NIG.)

Soludo has the clout to get the presidents ear, to pass professional economic advice , if his intentions are not "unholy" . Thats my point.
PoliticsRe: Efcc, Icpc May Go After Soludo by brotherly: 6:45pm On Sep 24, 2010
Jonathan and the people around him have started showing their brutal sides! Why would any citizen be afraid to air his views on issues concerning his fatherland? Are these people arrogating to themselves that they know all even more than the rest of the country? The issue of zoning and do-or-die election is surely giving some people sleepless nights and its driving them crazy!
It is very clear that OBJ,UMYA and even GEJ gave soludo a lot of concessions, there were enough allegations to keep him busy in courts even while he was CBN governor. If suddenly he forgets himself and becomes a tool in the hands of northern elements to discredit government, then he must be prepared for the backlash. It is as simple as that.

We have had a lot of CBN governors before soludo, economists are the most contoversial people, different schools of thought. But never have we had an ex-CBN governor criticising government openly through press conferences, expecially  at election period. If he wants to advice govt there are better channels to do that, but if he chooses to play politics with it, then he should be prepared as a man to face the hazards of this kind of politics.

Did you ever hear Ahmed abdulkadir, paul ogumma or joseph sanusi organising press conferences to criticise policies?

Here is one of those stories I have been told. The students of the University of Ibadan had a major demonstration in their school when they heard that the head of state was visiting. There were blockades, placards and bonfires. They were ready to embarrass the man who they accused of making life difficult for them and their parents.

Then General Ibrahim Babangida drove right into their midst, stepped out of his car and flashed a toothy smile, using that famous gap to effect. And, immediately, the young men and women were disarmed.
This is the biggest lie from hell. I was a student then in UI, yes IBB came out , opened is filty mouth to smile with the aim of calming students down, students started shouting maradona,maradona and  suddenly stones,slippers and other objects  started raining  and there was confusion , his SS guys started shooting sporadically. . . . Adisa who was the governor of OYO state then even ran faster than his guest into the car. . . . many students were suspended and some rusticated becuase of that incident.

PoliticsRe: 20 Years After: Your Thoughts On The Orkar Coup by brotherly: 8:05am On Apr 25, 2010
Orkar and his friends in the plot could not tie the loose ends because the coup leaked hence they had to strike before the originally planned date.There are positives though. The plotters somehow alerted Nigerians of IBB's schemes which made life more difficult for him. He ended up dribbling himself out of aso rock dishonourably.

Shamelessly a man that could only hand power to an illegitimate interim government after squandering billions on elections in 8 years ,is seeking to benefit from the same democratic values he disdained. I pity him.

So he is a good pastor due to his 'unique British/American/African authoritative accent.' Can somebody please tell me what this means? This effectively rules out any pastor with a Nigerian accent, I guess. Just goes to show you how superficial believers are.
Eh what logic are you using here? May be you need to read what the poster said again. The poster likes the pastor because of his accent, that does not in any way invalidate the calling of pastors with nigerian accent, infact we all know that an illitrate pastor can even be more annointed, it is GOd that calls and he is the one that gives different measures of grace.

I attend house on the rock and like pastor Paul expecially for his honesty in message delivery. Most times pastors carry that "over-holy" rabbinic toga to make it look like they dont have any struggles, pastor paul is not one of them. I like other pastors like GEORGE ADEGBOYE very very much. Bob Alonge, Sam ADEYEMI , Victor Adeyemi ,David ogbueli ,pastor Kumuyi are also my favourite men.

Most times pastors say " Jesus is the answer" but go mute when someone asks "what is the question" . The point is that as a man of God in this our day you must know the question (general human and societal issues) first before the answer will appeal and be helpful to the hearer. I think pastor paul is abreast with the questions of life and by Gods grace proffers workable solutions. PEACE.
