Politics / Ogun Governor, Amosun In Certificates Forgery, Age Falsification. by brunnet: 4:39pm On Jan 10, 2014 |
Two years ago, it became public knowledge that the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun’s claim that he bagged a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in International Finance from the University of Westminster, United Kingdom and his actual date of birth were questionable. No concrete response was provided to the allegations then by the governor, and as a fallout to the crisis presently rocking the APC in Ogun State, the allegations are set to be brought to the fore again. Sources have revealed that the allegations of forgery and perjury against the governor will soon be raised again by APC members loyal to former Governor of Ogun State, Chief Segun Osoba and his erstwhile Deputy, Senator Adegbenga Kaka. “New petitions are going to be raised on the alleged forgery and perjury,” a source said. One of the sources said; “this time around, we will pursue the issue to a logical conclusion.” Prior to the 2011 governorship election, severa l petitioners from Ogun State had questioned various claims made by the governor in his profile filed with the Independent National ElectoralCommis sion (INEC), and called for a full investigation and possible criminal prosecution. Amosun had claimed in his election documents presented to INEC the possession of a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in International Finance from the University of Westminster, United Kingdom. However, investigations at the university shown that the institution offers only a Master of Science (MSC) International Finance, not an M.A. Also, an enquiry at the Evaluation and Accreditation Department of the Federal Ministry of Education, Abuja through a letter on May 3, 2011, informing the Ministry of suspicion on the authenticity of the certificate presented to INEC by Senator Amosun on his M.A. in International Finance from the University of Westminster in 2000 revealed that the University of Westminster does not offer Masters of Art in International Finance. Replying, on May 13, 2011, in a letter signed by A.O Adigwe on behalf of the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Education, the Ministry confirmed that the University of Westminster offers only the “M.Sc (Master of Science) in International Finance, but added, “There must have been a gross error in the issue of M.A (Master of Arts) International Finance to Mr. Ibikunle Oyelaja Amosun.” Other claims questioned in Amosun’s avalanche of claims include: · Earlier study by the Governor. · His date of birth, of which there seem to be two, and · His National Youth Service Corps participation. In his Certificate of Registration of Birth number 242484 issued by the Western State of Nigeria, issued on November 18, 1976, Governor Amosun’s date of birth was entered as January 25, 1958. Also, in the profile he submitted to INEC, Amosun maintained that he was born on January 25, 1958. However, in his Ogun State Polytechnic, Abeokuta Student Registration/ Personal Data File completed in his own handwriting, Governor Amosun claimed that he was born on January 25, 1960. On his technical study claim, Amosun claimed to be at the Ogun State Polytechnic, Abeokuta between 1979 and1983 for both the Ordinary National Diploma (OND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) is being questioned. Those who raised posers on the governor’s claim said; “This claim appears false in that between OND and HND there was a year mandatory internship students must observe. Could it then be that he did not serve the mandatory one year? Because if he did, his year of graduation should be 1984 not 1983. “In his CV, he claimed to have done his internship at Ogun/ Osun River Basin Authority in 1982 (6 months) and at Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) in 1981 (6 months). “From this claim, what Amosun is saying was that he was in school simultaneously while doing his internship?” “In a few days time, we will begin to ask questions as to the actual date of birth of the governor, the veracity of his claim on his Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in International Finance from the University of Westminster, United Kingdom and the actual period that he attended Ogun State Polytechnic, Abeokuta (now Monshood Abiola Polytechnic). “Definitely, we are going to fight him ditty and we won’t retreat until we get to the bottom of the matter, ” one of the aggrieved APC members said. 1 Like |
Politics / Re: Hoodlums On The Rampage In Ogun, Attack Residents, Journalists by brunnet: 11:34am On Jan 10, 2014 |
The crisis that erupted in APC Ogun State yesterday was a time bomb only waiting to explode,it all started on Monday when Amosun sent out invitation to the members of the State Harmonizing Committee that the Committee would seat yesterday Thursday to inaugurate the 5 man State Interim Committee that will manage the affairs of the Party, supervise the registration of members, the congress and the convention in accordance to the directives from the National. the five man State Interim Committe (SIC) are to be drawn from the 39 members of the State Harmonising Committee (SHC) The APC National in his wisdom said Amosun should nominate the Chairman of the SIC while Chief Osoba should nominate the Secretary and the 3 remaining offices should be nominated for through votes. Since Monday the horse trading had started with each side trying to out smart each other. Amosun who believed he had 18 members out of the 39 went on spending spree trying to buy more members believing money and power will do it, forgetting that most of the members he thought are in his side are Osoba's. By Tuesday he had camped all his believed SHC members/ supporters in Continental Suites those he didn't so much trust like Samuel Durojaye, Olu Adebanjo, Olabiyi Durojaye and Poju Adeyemi. He gave them N5m each while he gave Alhaji Elias, Alhaja Ashiata, Alhaji Awofeso, Mrs Lola Akanni and former ACN State Youth Leader Abimbola Abiodun N2.5m each but most of these people got the money switched off their phones and went to Osoba home in Lagos. When most of them failed to report at their hotel rooms in Abeokuta and couldnt be reached through phones the Governor became worried. On Tuesday evening Amosun called Otunba Niyi Adebayo the South West Coordinator of APC and told him he want to drop one of his nominees Chief Doja Adewolu and replace him with Tunji Egbetokun, a name that was totally not on the list before. To this, Adebayo objected and said the list has already been ratified by the National lnterim Committe and cant be changed. Amosun's plan was to make Egbetokun the Chairman of the SIC and to this Osoba and others disagreed. As at Wednesday Night, 23 members of the SHC were sighted at Osoba's Burdillon Home, Amosun who had earlier chose Gateway Hall beside Presidential Lodge as the venue of the meeting later in the evening on Wednesday went to Tinubu and said his plans has fallen like pack of cards and would want the inauguration to be postponed. Tinubu called Akande and Osoba to his house but they failed to show up, then Amosun sent text messages that the inauguration has beenpostponed indefinitely but the members refused saying only him cant hold them to ransom. So yesterday, over 400 APC members of Mata'gbamole stock from Ewekoro and Ifo were in APC Secretariat at Leme Abeokuta on solidarity rally for their leaders but Amosun unleashed his thugs Jango, Americo and others against them beating, machetting and maiming them. Even the Area Commander of police were there helplessly. Senator Kaka and other members with Chief Osoba came to the Secretariat amidst tight security to see the damages done to the Secretariat, the neighbourhood. Osoba said,"if I'm still alive Amosun won't get a return ticket in this Party ". Kaka who was elected as the Secretary of SIC addressed press at lwe lrohin House. The question is "what is the problem with Amosun? how many battles does he wantto fight? Just two days ago he dissolved Local Government Legislative arm of lmeko Afon LG because the legislators suspended their chairman for embezzlement. Now he is planning to dissolved that of Abeokuta South, Obafemi Owode, Odeda and ljebu Ode because he said some Chairmen and Councillors there belong to Matagbamole. Like Senator Kaka rightfully asked "how many people can he crush?" Time will tell. |

Suspected thugs believed to members of the Ogun State branch of the National Union of Road Transport Workers on Thursday unleashed terror on journalists and residents of Leme, Abeokuta, when they invaded the state secretariat of the All Progressives Congress. The suspected thugs, also believed to be loyal to the state government, had invaded the APC secretariat at about 10.30am to stop a meeting of the members of the Harmonisation Committee scheduled to hold at the party office. The rampaging thugs smatched cameras belonging to the correspondents of the Galaxy Television and MITV, Kunle Ojo and Taofeek Lawal, respectively The suspected thugs, armed with various dangerous weapons and missiles, also snatched blackberry phones belonging to the correspondent of the Radio Nigeria/ Paramount FM, Mrs. Modupe Sobukola. They also manhandled the journalists, including the State Correspondent of the Tribune, Olayinka Olukoya, with the aid of soldiers and policemen deployed in the APC secretariat. The security agencies held the journalists while the thugs molested them and smatched their cameras and blackberry phones. Scores of residents of the area were also seriously injured by the thugs, who attacked any member of the community in sight. Several cars at a dealer’s shop near the APC state secretariat were vandalised by the thugs, who also capitalised on the commotion to dispossess residents of their valuables and other personal effects. They also vandalised the State Secretariat of the APC. The members of the state Harmonisation Committee, led by Senator Gbenga Kaka, later addressed newsmen at the Iwe Irohin Secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists. |
Politics / How Governor Amosun Forged Signature To Amend Ogun Pension Bill by brunnet: 9:28pm On Jan 04, 2014 |
Category: SPECIAL REPORTS Published on Friday, 03 January 2014 20:23 Written by Elombah.com …Builds 1 kilometer of road for N1 billion The Ogun state governor, Ibikunle Amosun has been accused of criminally forging the signature of the clerk and some other members of the State House of Assembly to pass the state pension bill into law. Impeccable and named sources in Ogun State has revealed to Elombah.com that the criminal act carried out by Ogun State governor, is currently generating friction between the governor and the honourable members of the house. The Governor has also been accused of hiding Ogun state's total debt figures under his administration as well as constructing some of the most expensive roads per kilometer in the country and spending a whopping 260 million Naira on a needless Pedestrian bridge on his street. One of our sources, Mr Ifeanyichukwu Sudo, a Journalist and publisher of Ogun State News bulletin called Ilese News Extra authoritatively revealed to us that the bill to amend the state pension bill was forged by the governor. The pension bill titled ‘A BILL FOR A LAW TO AMEND THE PENSION REFORM LAW 2006’ was sponsored by Hon. Solarin Samuel and Co-sponsored by Hon. Sonuga Samuel, Hon. Adegbesan Joseph, Hon. Ojodu Olayiwola and Hon. Allen-Taylor Olufemi, all from the Ogun State House of Assembly in 2013. The bill after amendment was sent to the governor by the lawmakers and signed into law by governor Amosun on 25th September 2013. Documents made available to us have revealed that the actual bill sent to the governor was not only doctored but the signature of the Clerk of the House, Muyiwa Adenopo who purportedly signed the bill was also forged. Some parts of the bill were also secretly expunged by the governor and his cronies. The controversial part of the bill which we found to have been doctored is the AMENDMENT OF SECTION 17 OF THE PRINCIPAL LAW In the document obtained from the House of Assembly which was passed by members of the house and sent to the governor for consent, it stated the following: 8. (1) As at the date of this amendment, the State and Local Governments Retirement Benefits Bond redemption funds account shall cease and be closed and the funds contained therein shall become payable to the State and Local Governments respectively. However, in the Bill signed and passed into law Governor Amosun on the 25th September 2013, the governor criminally removed the word 'LOCAL GOVERNMENT' to allow all the Retirements Benefits Bond funds be payable ONLY to the State Government. The Bill signed into law reads: 8. (1) As at the date of this amendment, the State and Local Governments Retirement Benefits Bond redemption funds account shall cease and be closed and the funds contained therein shall be repaid to Ogun State Government A meticulous look at the signature page of the Bill purportedly signed by the Clerk of the House and the State Governor, it reads: This printed impression has been carefully compared by me with the bill which has been passed by the Ogun State House of Assembly and found by me to be a true and correct printed copy of the said bill. According to our sources: “The above forgery and deceit at the height of governance points to the impunity with which Governor Ibikunle Amosun continues to preside over the affairs of Ogun State” Governor Amosun continues to hide the state's total debt figures under his administration even as witnessed in his budget speech to the House of Assembly in November 2013. In the said speech, the YEAR UNDER REVIEW section deceitfully did not contain the achieved revenue figures in 2013 that funded the 2013 budget. Some Budget Analyst consulted by our source, Ilese News Extra stated that this may be because the Government is trying to hide the actual loans it may have taken in the year and which forms part of the year's revenue. The actual Capital receipts (i.e loans, grants etc) they said, may not have been in accordance to what was approved in the 2013 budget, hence it was deceitfully left out when it ordinarily should have been part of the Year Under review figures. All hope was lost when the Ogun State people were told that the State House of Assembly passed the 2014 budget without receiving the debt stock figures from the Finance Commissioner. "The Ogun State people do not know how much they owe arising from the road constructions in the state priced at N1billion/ kilometer and much more in other instances", a source lamented. The All Progressive Congress governor who is gunning for re- election had earlier claimed to have built the first air- conditioned foot bridge at a ridiculous price of N260million, a project widely described as a white elephant. The bridge is located at Sokori/ Totoro Road in Ogun State. During the launching, Amosun said he saw the bridge in Dubai and decided to bring the bridge to Ogun State. With claims of development in his regime, sources have stated that the state governor has built the most expensive roads in Nigeria as well as bridges, with all the cost inflated. Commenting on the report, a government insider told elombah.com that the “House of assembly in Ogun state did not request for the figure of the debt”, and so that is why the figure was not included in the review presented by the governor to the House, a defense a stakeholder in the state termed to be spurious. |

This is a well painted pictures of the situation in Ogun State, but I must quickly add this unfortunate promises and fail incident does not limit to Ogun state alone, it is a general thing across the length and breath of the country, so no polical mischeif should come from the enemies/ opponents of the Ogun incumbent Governor. No doubt, SIA rode into the office through the public sysmpathy, arisen from the OGD's last leg lacklustre performance in the office (the first term tenure performance was excellent) and the political imbroglio involving his executive arm of government and the state House of Assembly. This gave OGD bad public image that ultimately catapulted SIA into office. My take here is that the Nigerian electorates must learn from past mistakes. We should look well before we leap and never vote for sentiments again, but for the office seekers positive pedigree. Huummm!! That is where the problem lies, do we have among the crop of our present day politicians one with impeccable records and life style.? 2 Likes |

Politics / Anambra Election: “we Have Been Vindicated - PDP by brunnet: 5:03pm On Nov 21, 2013 |
NOVEMBER 21, 2013 PRESS STATEMENT Anambra election: “We have been vindicated - PDP Says APC meant evil for Nigeria The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said the unfolding of events in the Anambra governorship election has vindicated its earlier alert on the plot by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to unleash violence and rig the election having discovered that it has been rejected by the people. National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh, in a statement on Thursday said the “arraignment in court of the 182 armed thugs imported into Anambra by the APC to cause mayhem and disrupt the elections has justified PDP’s earlier commendation to security agencies for providing adequate security and the enabling environment to ensure that election held peacefully and without violence in spite of the plan by the APC to turn the state into a theatre of war and bloodshed.” Stating that the APC is “trying to use Anambra to test its evil machination against the entire country”, the PDP said, "APC having discovered that it will lose in 2015, has hatched a heavily funded plot to use the instrumentality of blackmail, lies and propaganda to discredit the electoral system and cause massive uprising immediately after the 2015 general elections.” “The APC is a party of desperate politicians who are now deeply pained that Nigerians have rejected them. It is on record that APC since its formation has not won any election, be it at the local, state or national level. “Having realized that it has no chance of winning in 2015 and equally scared of losing states currently under its unfortunate control, the APC is now seeking every means to cast doubts in the minds of Nigerians on the electoral system ahead of the general elections” “This explains why the APC will continue to cry foul in elections where they were roundly beaten as in the Delta senatorial rerun election where they came fourth; Ondo governorship election where they came third and Anambra governorship where they also came third despite their grandstanding and long period of campaign”, the statement said. “This explains why the APC will continue to cry foul in elections where they were roundly beaten as in the Delta senatorial rerun election where they came fourth; Ondo governorship election where they came third and Anambra governorship where they also came third despite their grandstanding and long period of campaign”, the statement said. The PDP said the Anambra election has once again shown that it remains the preeminent party in that state. “In spite of internal challenges and discordant tunes, PDP members put up a credible showing during the process. We therefore commend the state chairman and all members of the party in Anambra including our candidate, Comrade Tony Nwoye”, the party said. The party therefore charged Nigerians to be vigilant and resist all attempts by the APC to cause disunity and truncate the nation’s democracy. Signed Chief Olisa Metuh National Publicity Secretary. |

In the 2014 budget proposal submitted to OGHA by Amosun the executive proposed "9model primary health centers", one per federal constituency. The house should please tell Amosun to go and complete the model schools he started 2years ago before he starts model primary health centers. What is the state of all existing health centers across the state? What statistics is he using to determine that every federal constituency in Ogun state needs model primary health center? Anyway, this is another lie and deceit. |

Politics / Ogun State: Abysmal Failure In The Health Sector by brunnet: 3:40pm On Nov 16, 2013 |
BY DAUD OLATUNJI ABEOKUTA: The recent mid-term assessment of the state of public hospitals in Ogun State by the Nigerian Medical Association has shown that there is an abysmal failure in the health sector despite the fact that health is the second on the seven-point agenda of the government. The governor shortly after he was sworn-in as the executive governor of the state, May 29, 2011 pledged that aged people from 70 years and above, children from zero to five years as well as pregnant women shall enjoy free healthcare . But, two years after, the pledges remain an utopian. After the first 100 days in office, the governor reiterated his commitment to rejuvenate the health sector, saying he has declared a state of emergency in the health sector but, more than two years after, there seems to be no change. According to the state Chairman of the NMA in the State, Dr. Edward Jagun, the Ogun state government has accepted that it cannot provide the free health care services which it promised the people of Ogun state during the electioneering campaign. “Health is the second point on the agenda but our mid-term assessment shows an abysmal failure. Primary, secondary and tertiary healthcare remain underfunded or unfunded which have resulted into adhoc or make shift services. The community based health insurance services has remained a “talk show” and quality hospital services have become a thing of the past. Saturday Vanguard findings have shown that from secondary to tertiary care level, there are no Boards. Also, Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching hospital in Sagamu has no Chief Medical Director as workers were still being owed over 30 months’ salary arrears . It was also observed that all the hospitals owned by Ogun state have MRI or CT scan, Digital Xray or fluoroscopy or major diagnostic equipments and ultrasound scans except one hospital that could provide dialysis. Further findings revealed that doctors were being harrassed by patients and their relatives over cost of treating the poor which they believe has been taken care of by the government as promised. And as a result of this infrastructural putrefaction, hospital workers reportedly watch patients die because of lack of facilities to work with. The NMA further alleged “poor quality of investigations like X- ray and other radiographic investigations due to archaic equipments being used; not seeing patients on time due to excess work load and burglary in the hospitals. “The Teaching Hospital has no management boards and hence for every decision to be taken, the case has to get to the commissioner who in turn will pass it to the Governor. “This infrastructural decay in all strata is also intertwined with lack of capacity development and personnel afflictions which have been on for some years preceding this administration. If there is perceived affliction by the personnel, this will cascade down to service provision because the morale is going to be heavily dampened. “The Ogun state government has committed a lot of infractions against the medical doctors in Ogun state and we can only beg the government to forgive us our sins”. While tracing the root of the rot in Ogun state health institutions, the NMA state Chairman claimed that the general decadence was due to apathy on the part of the government to improve the healthcare services in Nigeria. According to him,the neglect of health institutions by Federal Government permeated to Ogun state with worsening health indices in the gateway state. “Health is capital intensive and a social contract between the government and the people. Efforts by private organizations is just complimentary to the government and should not be seen as another alternative. Healthcare cannot be left in the hands of the private sector for fear of exploitation. Where this exists, the government serves as a regulator with appropriate health care financing. The solution is not in building new centers as the administration wants to embark upon and NMA says an unequivocal no to this intended, unnecessary spending spree. Specialist centers only cater for less than 10% of the people. It will therefore be uneconomical to plan for the minority and allow the majority to die. The government should strengthen the existing institutions with appropriate equipments and personnel”. But in a swift reaction, the state government said it is doing its best in the sector, saying it never promised free health. According to a statement sent by the Information Officer in the Ministry of Health, Seun Akinlade,”government re -affirms its commitment to the health sector. There are activities going on which include distribution of $2m.USD of equipment to hospitals, refurbishment and re- equipping of dental centres in Abeokuta, Ota, Ilaro, Sagamu and Ijebu-Ode;complete overhaul of laboratory and radio diagnostics at Ijaye. “Major initiatives that are being finalized for imminent commencement include the Ogun State Community Based Health Insurance Scheme; the Ogun State Cancer Institute; a major new Diagnostic Centre and nine new general hospitals. “We have just reformed our drug procurement and distribution system which will result in lower healthcare costs for the general public. Government plans to continue the refurbishment of our existing Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) and Hospitals, and further investment in healthcare personnel and training. “We urge our esteemed healthcare workers to be patient as we continue to address the problems that have taken root over the decades. We also urge continued dialogue in seeking to address specific issues raised by the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) affecting its members”, the statement stated. |

Politics / Former Ogun Deputy Governor Dumps APC For PDP by brunnet: 11:03pm On Oct 08, 2013 |
A former Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Rafiu Ogunleye, on Tuesday, defected to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, with thousands of his political loyalists. Mr. Ogunleye was the deputy governor in the Olusegun Osoba administration. Mr. Ogunleye, a former leader of the defunct All Progress Congress, APC, made the public decampment at the PDP organised stakeholders/unity rally held at the party’s headquarters at Presidential Boulevard, Abeokuta. He was accompanied to the rally by his wife and thousands of his supporters, who came with various banners expressing their readiness to work round the clock for the success of the PDP at the 2015 general elections. The former number two citizen of the state, in his crossover speech, explained that his decision to join PDP followed some unfavourable events he witnessed in APC. He described the PDP as a very progressive and truly democratic. He emphasised that, the “winner take all” attitude of the state governor, Ibikunle Amosun, was a major factor that led to his dumping of the APC. He lamented that his group, Imole, which contributed to the party’s success in the last polls was abandoned by the Amosun-led government. In a similar development, the Ogun State Chairman of the PDP, Dayo Bayo, while addressing the large crowd, said. “The question is why must we continue to leave in hardship in the mist of plenty. APC government should give succour to the people of the state or accept the fact that they have failed the electorates and relinquish power to the peoples’ friendly party.” In his own speech, the Chairman, South-West PDP Organisation and Mobilisation Committee, Buruji Kashamu, advised public office holders not to play to the gallery. “If they truly love our country and have its interest at heart. They must learn how to make genuine and constructive criticisms and offer advice without necessarily playing to the gallery. On the contrary, if they think that they have better ideas on how to do things, they should either chip it in or wait till the general elections in 2015 so they can sell their ideas to the electorate and get their mandate.” Dignitaries from outside the state at the event included Ibrahim Mantu (former Deputy Senate President), Wale Oladipo (National Secretary, PDP), and Isola Filani (South-West Chairman PDP). |

As in the case of Amaechi, Police had once again given reasons for distrupting Bamidele's political rally/ campaign. My thinking is this, if Governor Fayemi can be fingered out to be the one behind Bamidele's unfortunate aborted rally, it is safe to conclude that President GEJ is responsible for Amaechi travail. |
