The Adamawa state Head of Service, Dr Edgar Amos, on Wednesday said the state government would pay a new N32, 000 minimum wage to its workers at the end of November. Amos said the state government would pay N32,000, which was more than the N30,000 approved by the federal government, in fulfillment of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri’s campaign promise to pay N32,000 minimum wage if elected. “The national minimum wage is N30,000 but the governor is going to pay N32,000 because that is his promise,” Amos said. The head of service, however, said that the issue of consequential adjustment for other workers earning above the minimum wage was still being discussed with labour unions. NyenwePHC:Finally telecommunications is finally been checked....a lot more worms will come out of the Telecom. |
Mallam is working to give Nigerians their rights and privileges they deserved as citizens, which the telecos have denied us for long. The only minister that has his eyes on the ball!!! |
The woman saying 'one minute remaining' should be fired too!!! Dr Pantami is always focused on the tasks ahead |
This man is really doing a lot. MTN just takes you to automatic voicemail after 10 seconds, whether your call connects or not. They should suspend that FRAUD immediately |
That's the benefit of having a digital minister. This minister knows His duty and understand the job better than the previous ones. Phone users always suffer a lot in the hand of network provider. Imagine the way we are losing money every seconds due to poor services.May Allah continue to guide you Sai Malam |
Isa Pantami, the minister of communications and digital economy, has directed the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to ensure that telecommunications companies deactivate automatic voicemail subscriptions on phone lines. In a statement released on Tuesday by Uwa Suleiman, spokesperson to the minister, Pantami said voicemail service should be accessed at the discretion of the subscriber and not by default. “The attention of the honourable minister of communications and digital economy has been drawn to the latest trend of financial exploitation by mobile network operators (MNOs) in the country through the automatic activation of the voicemail service on their platforms,” the statement read. “Based on recent reports reaching the office. the practice has gained momentum in recent times. “The voicemail service should be accessed at the discretion of the subscriber and not by default. The honourable minister finds it worrisome and totally unacceptable, that telecoms subscribers incur financial charges, for a service they are compelled to use by default.” Explaining the rationale behind the directive, Pantami said voicemail is not a popular service among Nigerians and rural dwellers mostly understand the language used by networks on the service. “It is apparent, that the recent clampdown on the exploitative activities of some mobile network operators (MNOs) in the country has beamed the searchlight on the sector properly and some unpatriotic elements in the system are devising subtle, ingenious methods of defrauding Nigerians. “In the light of this. Dr Pantami has issued a broad policy directive to the sector regulator Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), to immediately ensure that issues regarding automatic voicemails are addressed on all existing phone lines and the subscribers, given the option of accessing the service via an activation code.” https://www.thecable.ng/pantami-ncc-telcos-suspend-automatic-voicemail-phone-lines/amp? Santuscom Agro-Hub Investment Nigeria Limited, producer of Ogoja Rice, has said it will crash the prices of local brands as it begins harvest at its 1,000-hectare farm in Okpoma, Yala Local Government Area of Cross River State. The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Santuscom, Chief Paul Santus, made this known while speaking with journalists on the farm’s effort to cushion the effect of rising prices of rice domestically as a result of the closure of the land borders. Chief Santus said the Ogoja Rice brand would sell for N14,000 ahead of the Christmas and New Year celebrations. Since the recent closure of land borders by the Federal Government, prices of the commodity have risen to as much as N18,000 to N22,000, depending on which market. Explaining further, Chief Santus said, “We at Santuscom Agro-hub Investment Nigeria Limited, producers of the popular Ogoja Rice brand, are concerned with the skyrocketing prices of rice after the closure of land borders by the Federal Government. “We want Nigerians to understand the action by the government, and notwithstanding, we want to assure Nigerians that as a company, we will do everything possible before the Christmas and New Year celebrations to crash the prevailing and the current market prices of rice as we will be selling at N14,000 per 50-kg bag of rice anytime from now. “Everything is ready for us to commence serious production of high quality and stone-free Ogoja Rice that would be very affordable and accessible by consumers in any part of Nigeria.” https://www.dailytrust.com.ng/border-closure-ogoja-rice-to-hit-market-with-reduced-price.html?

Nigeria’s government is set to revive 10,000 primary healthcare centres in the country, the Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire, has said. Mr Ehanire said this when some members of Association of Nigeria Health Journalists, ANHEJ, led by its President, Hassan Zaggi visited the minister in his office on Friday in Abuja. He said the government was trying to create a balance to provide health facilities for all Nigerians, even those in the rural areas, villages, and difficult to access areas. “That is the reason that we should not forget those people by creating at least one health centre in every political ward of the country; almost 10,000 primary health care to be revitalised. “Many of them are already there because they are neglected, they are being revived and modernised and the standard expectation of a primary health care now is that it should have modern facilities and infrastructure. “We also expect digital service so we can be able to take care of many of the diseases that occur. We do it in partnership with States and the Local Governments. “The federal government has been teaming with the local government to create the network; our expectation is that 60 per cent of diseases in the country can be taken care by the Primary Health Cares,’’ he said. https://dailynigerian.com/nigerian-govt-to-revive-10000-primary-healthcare-centres/?

Olamilekan Adegbite, the Minister of Mines and Steel Development says the Federal Government is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that Ajaokuta Steel Company becomes fully operational in the next two years. Mr Adegbite said this on Friday in Ajaokuta during a tour of the steel complex. The minister commended the staff of the company for ensuring the security and maintenance of the facilities. “The plants are there and some of them are fully functional, the only reason Ajaokuta is still here, is because the staff are being paid salaries over the years. “They have not only ensured that the plants are here, they ensured their maintenance and functionality,” he said. According to Adegbite, though the workshops are functioning, the desire of the Federal Government is to upgrade the facility to manufacturing and production of materials for possible export. He said that the Federal Government would collaborate with the African Export-Import Bank and the Russia Export Centre to ensure that the steel plant was rehabilitated for full capacity operations. News Agency of Nigeria reports that the Federal Government had allocated N3.796 billion to the Steel Plant in the 2020 Budget and was counting on Russia to get the complex running optimally. An accord to revive the Ajaokuta project was reached at a meeting between President Muhammadu Buhari and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Russia in October.https://dailynigerian.com/ajaokuta-steel-company-to-become-operational-in-2021-minister/? The Senate Committee on Trade and Investment yesterday invited the Minister of Trade and Investment, Niyi Adebayo and the Acting Managing Director of the Nigeria Export Processing Zones Authority, Terhembe Nongo, over N15bn voted for a private company in the ministry’s budget. The chairman of the committee, Rose Oko, said the summons were issued following the report of the committee that the minister and the permanent secretary of the ministry failed to defend the allocation during a budget defence. Oko said the committee was asked to make available from the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation, the shareholding structure, but that the document presented did not reveal the identity of the shareholders. She told the Senate Committee on Appropriation that his committee had requested the NEPZA to give full details of what happened and that its response was that the money was allocated in 2017 when the company was not in existence. She alleged that “The company was registered in 2018; meanwhile, the money was already allocated in 2017 which is domiciled in CBN. More so, N15bn was released two days ago to the same company.” https://www.dailytrust.com.ng/senate-summons-minister-over-n15bn-in-private-firm-accounts.html? Mynd44 oam4j lalasticlala |
President Muhammadu Buhari has looked to Russian President, Vladimir Putin, for much needed military support to combat the resurgent Boko Haram terrorists in the North-East. Citing a report on Kremlin’s RIA news agency, Reuterssaid PMB will sign a Military Technical Cooperation deal with the eastern European state in the Russian town of Sochi before the end of October. Nigeria’s ambassador in Russia, Stephen Ogbah, said, “We’re sure that with Russian help we’ll manage to crush Boko Haram given its experience combating Islamic State in Syria.” The Buhari administration had in 2018 paid $496m for the purchase of two Tucano jets from the United States, which it said would be delivered in 2020. According to Ogbah, Nigeria is interested in buying Russian helicopters, planes, tanks and other military equipment, adding that a draft version of the deal had already been finalised. He added, “We hope President Buhari can take the talks to their logical end. The agreement will open new possibilities in such areas as the supply of military equipment and training for specialists.” http://saharareporters.com/2019/10/11/buhari-turns-russia-combat-boko-haram? |
PORT HARCOURT—No fewer than 13 persons have been detained by the Nigerian Army over alleged illegal possession of ballot papers and bribe taking during Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly elections. Among those arrested are Rivers Commissioner for Urban Development, Dr Reason Williams and Mr Opokri Wanaka, a serving member in the Rivers State House of Assembly. Others are an army major and three police officers accused of collecting bribes to compromise election materials kept inside the premises of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN. The army alleging it has proof that the Rivers State governor, Mr Nyesom Wike tried to bribe an army officer over Saturday’s Presidential election. Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state, has described as diversionary the arrests and parading of some of its members by men of the 6 Division of Nigerian Army, Port Harcourt. Spokesman of the party, Mr. Darlington Orji, said that the Army used arrest of its members, lawmaker, commissioner and security operatives, to divert attention from the genocide it committed in parts of the state during the Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly elections. The army said its proof include a recorded phone conversation Wike allegedly had with an army officer following arrest of the member representing Ahoada West in Rivers State House of Assembly, Opokri Wanaka and the state Commissioner for Urban Development, Dr Reason Onya Williams for alleged electoral fraud. Also arrested and paraded at the 6 Division, Port Harcourt, were DSP Oyoku Ifelle (Camp Command, Rivers State Government House), Sgt Akanu Garba, Inspector Hycent Oboi and Sgt Nketan Chucks, all reported Government House security details and an Army Majar, A P Ubah, for allegedly trying to bride military guards at the Central Bank of Nigeria, Port Harcourt branch where electoral materials were kept for distribution ahead of the elections. All the suspects however, denied any wrong doing, describing their arrest as a drama being orchestrated by the army to smear the person of Governor Wike over its lost confidence in the conduct of security operatives in Rivers. Col Aminu Iliyasu, Deputy Director Public Relations, 6 Division, who paraded the suspects among several other persons said, “Saturday, February 23, 2019 about 8:45a.m., following a tip off on attempt by Wike’s aids to induce and compromise troops deployed at the CBN Port Harcourt premises, our personnel, Maj AP Ubah and three other Police personnel were arrested by a 6 Div Team. “Preliminary investigations exposed N2.250m in a Range Rover belonging to the DSP. Other items recovered are four INEC 2019 electoral tags, customised Rivers State Government House brown envelopes, while N500,000 was found in the Toyota vehicle belonging to Maj AP Ubah which he confessed was given to him by the governor’s aids in addition to offer of a well- furnished accommodation for the period of his tour of duty. “Same day about 7a.m., a member of Rivers Assembly, Opokri Wanaka in company of Dr Reason Onya Williams, State Commissioner for Urban Development visited own troops Camp at Akinima and requested to be acquainted with the Commander. Opokri offered the officer some money he removed from his pocket but the officer not only rejected the offer but sent the duo away. “Incidentally, while the officer and his men were manning a check point at Mbiama Bridge, a white Hilux vehicle with Rivers State Government Reg No.L02-03RV RIVERS and eight occupants was stopped for routine search and clearance. A carton and two bundles of INEC 2019 Presidential Election ballot papers were discovered in the vehicle. Preliminary investigation reveals that none of the occupants of the vehicle is an INEC staff, INEC Ad-hoc staff or security agent. “During on the spot interrogations, Wanaka and Dr Reason earlier mentioned above appeared at the spot and tried to convince the suspecting troops that the vehicle is part of INEC convoy that was left behind and that the vehicle should be allowed to go because the electorate were waiting. “When the vigilant officer refused to be convinced, Dr Reason immediately placed a call to Governor Wike and His Excellency requested to speak with the officer who declined and requested the governor to please call the GOC. After much resistance, the officer gave Dr Reason his number to pass to Wike which he did via Whatsapp message. Within 10 minutes Governor Wike placed a call to the officer. “In the said audio played to the media, the alleged governor called the said army officer and assured that a lady would see him later.” https://www.vanguardngr.com/2019/02/army-detains-rivers-commissioner-13-others-over-illegal-possession-of-ballot-papers/ Mynd44 oam4j lalasticlala |
