National Secretariat, Nigerian Association of Piggery Farmers, Abuja. 12/01/2018 Dear Mr. President, DEMAND FOR PIGGERY COLONIES The National Association of Piggery Farmers deplore the marginalization of the association by the Federal Government. Our pigs have been variously targeted for elimination in several Northern states. Those Sharia compliant states have refused to allow our legitimate business to thrive. Our members have been hounded and harassed by the Hisbah Police and others. We deplore this. The Federal Ministry of Agriculture has paid deaf ears to out plight. Our members demand that the marginalization must stop in order to forestall the breakdown of Law & Order. From the foregoing, NAPF thus demand the following: 1. Equal opportunities for all farmers and herders throughout the federation 2. We demand for a 20 hectare Piggery Colony in the 19 Northern States especially Katsina, Kano, Kebbi, Sokoto, Yobe, Bauchi, Niger, Borno and Gombe 3. We demand the National Assembly to pass a law on Piggery Colonies in all Northern states 4. We demand that a section of the Nigerian Army be employed in the protection of pigs and pig farmers 5. We demand the Federal Ministry of Agriculture to set aside a budget for the importation of Pig Feed from Argentina 6. We demand a special department of Piggery in the Federal Ministry of Agriculture. Dear Mr. President, we are a law abiding association. We prevent our members from being provoked by the government-backed Hisbah/Islamic horde that aim to destroy our pig farmers. We shall not be involved in attacking and killing the anti-piggery people in the Sharia States. If these things are not done, we can no longer guarantee that our members would not deliberately target our transducers! Up Buhari the Fulani man |
In this February 2011 interview, my former colleague, Theophilus Abbah, asked Buhari: Why did you say you will do just one term, if elected? Below is Buhari's response: "I’m not getting younger. If I succeed and do one term, I will be 73 years old." Theophils asked Buhari again: If you’re doing just one term, you may want to urgently do some things? What are they? Buhari responded: "There are two issues and I have said it in one sentence. Security and power. This country has to be secured and managed. People in Nigeria must not go about fearing that they would be abducted. You must not be afraid to the point that you can’t drive from Kaduna to Kano any time of the day. If you are in Lagos, you should have jobs to the point that you can afford to have three shifts in a day. That is eight hours each. But people are now very scared wherever they are. People have built houses worth over a billion naira, but they are afraid to live in them. What is the use? So, security is number one. Number two is structure. We have to revive the electricity sector so that people will have access to power to carry out their businesses. Others include the roads, the railways, the shipping lines. We used to have all these things. In spite of what we earned in the last eleven years, the whole infrastructure has already collapsed." Oil marketers to get foreign exchange, import fuel DPR, customs, others to monitor distribution FG to settle N800bn subsidy debt By Udeme Akpan, Victor Ahiuma-Young & Demola Akinyem LAGOS—To address the current scarcity of fuel across the country, stakeholders weekend, recommended among others, for more participation of private sector in the importation of product and the involvement of all security agencies and Department of Petroleum Resources, DPR, in the monitoring of products distribution to check smuggling. The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, may be given 18 months to fix the refineries to increase capacity to refine petroleum products for domestic consumption, thus removing unnecessary costs associated with massive importation from the international market. These were some of the recommendations of the committee set up by the Federal Government to find lasting solutions to the nation’s prolonged fuel scarcity. The refineries located in Port Harcourt, Rivers State; Warri, Delta State and Kaduna, Kaduna State have the collective capacity to refine 445,000 barrels of crude oil per day for domestic utilisation. From NNPC latest report, the refineries’ collective capacity has dropped significantly as a result of irregular maintenance, especially in the past few years. Director of Press in the Ministry of Petroleum Resources, Mr. Idang Alibi, when contacted, yesterday, by Vanguard on details of the report, declined comment... Reuters/Abuja January 03 2018 02:50 PM A suicide bomber killed 11 people on Wednesday in an attack on a mosque in northeast Nigeria, the epicentre of the conflict with militant insurgency Boko Haram, military officials and an aid worker said. The bomber hit the mosque in the town of Gamboru in Borno state, near Nigeria's border with Cameroon, during dawn prayers, said Ali Mustapha, an aid worker. ‘I was on my way to dawn prayer, then I heard the sound of a loud bomb explosion inside the mosque,’ Mustapha told Reuters. ‘The mosque was destroyed and burnt,’ he said. ‘After some hours, when we came to evacuation of the people, we saw 11 corpses, with the suicide bomber making (the total number of dead) 12.’ Pictures of the aftermath of the blast showed the bodies of the dead uncovered and lined up on the ground. A building had been reduced to rubble, with only a few sections of wall left standing. Nobody claimed responsibility for the attack, but it bears the hallmarks of Boko Haram, a jihadist group which frequently uses suicide bombers, often women and girls, to attack crowded public spaces such as mosques and markets. Despite repeated government and military assertions that the insurgency has been defeated, Boko Haram continues to carry out lethal attacks on the military and civilians. Last week four civilians were killed in an attack by suspected Boko Haram militants on Maiduguri, the Nigerian city at the centre of the conflict with the Islamists. In November a suicide bomber killed at least 50 people in an attack on a mosque, in one of the deadliest bombings of recent years. http://www.gulf-times.com/story/576877

Boko Haram terrorists on Sunday ambushed a convoy of Nigerian troops on Maiduguri-Damboa Highway on Sunday, killing at least 10 soldiers, motorists revealed to SaharaReporte According to the source, the terrorists planted mines on the highways on the fringes of Sambisa Forest, killing 10 soldiers and wounding others. “We were stopped by a military convoy,” a commercial driver told SaharaReporters. “The soldiers’ vehicle drove over IEDs [improvised explosive devices], and then the terrorists opened fire on them and killed at least 10 soldiers.” Another motorist said the military vehicle was damaged beyond repair. "I was at the scene when a military ambulance came at about 1 p.m. on Sunday to evacuate corpses. All vehicles were asked to stop until they evacuated all the slain soldiers,” he said. Some community leaders in Madagali, Adamawa state, have threatened that their people would relocate to neighbouring Cameroon. Speaking during a presentation of relief materials by NEMA to those affected by recent attacks on Gulak town, the headquarters of the council on Thursday, the leaders said they were not happy with the situation, adding that distribution of food to the affected communities was not their ”top priority.” Yusuf Muhammad, chairman of the council, said people of the area have made up their mind to leave Nigeria if nothing was done to alleviate their suffering. “Our top priority in Madagali local Government Area is that we need security not food. Government, as matter of urgency should bring lasting solutions to stop excessive attacks and destruction on our people. “If the deadly attacks continue, we have no other alternative rather than to relocate to Cameroon Republic,” Mr. Muhammed said. He complained that the people of the area “were more affected by the insurgency and yet were neglected as if they were not Nigerians.” Binta Garba, an APC Senator, confirmed that the position of the council chairman was true. Mrs. Garba said both Madagali and Michika local government areas have neglected by the Federal government. “Are we really part of Nigeria? If yes; Government should prove to us and treat us as Nigerians,” the senator said http://dailypost.ng/

I love this piece. THE AVERAGE SOUTHERNER: By Charles Ogbu In this Nigeria, an average Southerner is a weakling. A born coward with serious complex issues. A fool and an idiot. A slave. A typical example of a butterfly who thinks himself a bird. But this is not even the problem. The biggest problem is, he doesn't even realise he is any of those things. The only thing an average Southerner is good at is blowing high sounding grammar and acquiring degrees upon degrees but when it comes to things that matter most, he goes to slumber. An average Southerner has this twisted mindset that the best way to be seen as a patriotic and detribalised Nigerian is by degrading, shaming and disparaging his own tribe for no just cause while heaping undeserved praises on his northern friends and pay-masters who have ruled and raped this country for almost 40 years out of her 56 years of existence. Abacha stole this country blind, such that 20 years after, his loot, estimated to be in the neighborhood of 7billion U.S. dollars, is still being returned to the country. But in spite of this, people like Buhari publicly swore that he (Abacha) stole nothing. But to an average Southern idiot, Jonathan's 5 year rule is the reason we have no fuel, no light, no good educational system, no nothing! Jonathan is the worst thief in Nigeria history. IBB, Abdulsalam and even Buhari who was accused of stealing billions of dollars as PTF boss were all saints. Why? Because they are Northerners. Was it not a southern he goat named Obasanjo who publicly wrote a letter to president Jonathan, accusing him of training snipers in Pyongyang (North Korea) ahead of last year's election?? He made the unfounded allegation just to please his masters upnorth and make Jonathan, his fellow southerner, look like a murderous beast knowing same to be false. Was anybody killed during or after the election by these "Jonathan snippers"? Now that we have the highest figure of senseless death of civilian in the hands of both state and non state actors under a Northern president Buhari, have you read any letter from the daughter-in-law fucking pastor OBJ?? When Shiites were massacred in Zaria, it took less than 48 hours for the Igbo-born Chidi Odinkalu of the National Human Right Commission to establish a commission of inquiry and summon the army chief but when unarmed IPOB members praying inside the Ngwa high school in Aba were murdered by the murderous bunch known as the Nigerian security agents, did you hear even a loosely worded condemnation from thesame Chidi Odinkalu?? To him and his fellow 'efulefus', the life of a northerner is worth more than that of a southerner. For these 'Ndi-uchu', governor Fayose should be crucified for putting in place a law to protect his people from the Fulani criminals but the sharia-practising Kano state govt should be praised for having a law that empowers it to protect barbarians who slaughter people in defence of their religion and ban the sale of alcohol even when it is getting the highest share from revenue generated from that same alcohol. These are the same fools who kept mum when Sango Abdullahi, Sani Kaita and some so called Northern elders publicly threatened to make the country ungovernable for Jonathan if power wasn't returned to them. When Buhari made his 'dogs and baboon' speech and directly caused the death of southerners including youth corpers, these morons kept mum. With all the numberless killing of civilians under this regime and its open support for the genocide the world fourth deadliest terror group (the Fulani criminals) has continue to visit on Nigerians, have these highly educated southerners bothered to write a strongly worded petition to the ICC thesame way Murtala Nyako, El-rufai and other northerners wrote to the ICC and other world bodies during Jonathan presidency?? These southern bastards would gleefully yell: 'Kanu should rot in jail, he was preaching hate on radio Biafra!' But these clowns maintained sealed lips over the hateful and inciting broadcast by 'Radio Chanji' and Arewa Radio upNorth including all the hate speeches attributed to the political disaster who currently reside in Asorock. Northern beasts called Fulani herdsmen can trek all the way from Sokoto and zamfara with their cows to my village somewhere in the East and slit the throat of my people with the active connivance of the Northern Muslim-dominated security agencies and criminal silence from the religious cum ethnic bigot called president Buhari with nothing but deafening silence from these southern 'Ndi-oso-chi-egbu', but the moment I ask to be allowed to go have my Biafra since the Nigerian state has repeatedly proven unwilling to protect me, these southern 'Oka mma n'ezi' will suddenly recover their tongue and tag me an ethnic bigot and enemy of the state. Such is the degree of the soulless hypocrisy of these southern dickheads. These 'Ndi-eriri-eri' will dedicate a whole year writing on why Nnamdi Kanu's Biafra agitation method is wrong but they will never dedicate even a second to write on the grave injustices of the Nigerian state against the Igbos which is exactly what Nnamdi Kanu and his group are protesting against. Bunch of dishonest morally and commonsensically bankrupt horde of grade 9 idiots! These nitwits were on rooftops telling us how incompetent and corrupt Jonathan was and how his removal was a patriotic duty. Today, things have all gone worse under Buhari and you would think that these southern imbeciles would be at the forefront calling for Buhari's resignation but no! They are the ones defending the daura born ex-soldier even against thesame things for which they crucified Jonathan then. Now I know why Jonathan appeared weak as president and spent his 5 year term trying to please the North. He knew he had nobody behind him in the real sense of the word. He knew that we Southerners are weaklings only good at blowing high sounding but empty grammar. Who opposed Jonathan more than his own brothers? Check out Rotimi Amechi, Timipre Silver and Tam David West -the old liar who swore Buhari would sell fuel for N45 per litre? These 'efulefu' southerners will never question why president Buhari wasted no time in rolling out the war tanks against the Shiites, the ND Avengers and the peaceful pro-Biafran groups, but is busy dishing out juicy amnesty package to boko haram terrorists and giving out free grazing land plus one billion naira to the Fulani criminals -the two deadliest and 4th deadliest terror groups in the whole world according to the Global Terror Index. But these same southern 'anumpamas' will read this post and characteristically play the ostrich by avoiding all the indisputable points I've raised here to concentrate on, "Charles, your diction is very strong. I don't like your choice of words". Nonsense!! Bleep political correctness!! Slaves who think themselves masters!! |
LeadersNG have gathered that the Islamist sect, Boko Haram has established an FM radio station broadcasting on 96.8 frequency modulation. The radio station which broadcasts in Hausa propagates its kind of Islam and calls for recruitment of more members to join in the service of Allah. The radio station which had a small bandwidth is heavily believed to have expanded its bandwidth with funds gotten from the Federal Government after the controversial release of Chibok Girls which was rumored to have involved cash payment as ransom. The radio station is believed to be located in Sambisa and its frequency can be reached by some local Governments in Borno and Adamawa States, this report has been confirmed by the Hausa service of the Voice of America. Residents in Tolkomari, which is in the far northern part of Cameroon and Gwoza and Damboa in Borno have also confirmed receiving broadcast messages from the sect via the radio station on 96.8 frequency modulation. Residents said the station broadcast mainly propaganda materials to counter media reports of victories by troops from Nigeria, Chad, Cameroon and Niger Republic against the Boko Haram militants. LeadersNG gathered that Cameroonian government is worried by the new development and has commenced investigations towards locating the radio station, which is said to be located deep inside sambisa forest. The FM station is used by Boko Haram to threaten The Nigerian Government and The Military saying the terrorist group is winning the War and also to call for new members to join the radical sect. A habitat of the Tokomari Village in the Far North State of Cameroon has confirmed this information saying that they were able to tune into the channel, while residents in parts of Borno and Adamawa States also made the confirmation. According to them, the station is an open air where Boko Haram’s propaganda is freely challenging statements from authorities claiming that they are winning the war. In Nigeria, The National Broadcasting Commission, NBC, has confirmed that the Islamic terrorist group, Boko Haram has indeed floated a radio station. The Director General of the commission, Mr. Modibo Kawu, said the insurgents had commenced radio transmission with their station located between Nigerian and Cameroonian borders. He made this disclosure on Tuesday during an interactive session with journalists in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital He noted that the development was already known to relevant security agencies, adding that currently the NBC and other relevant bodies and security agencies had not been able to block it as the station transmits via international transmission system. He however expressed that the NBC was working tirelessly to block the transmission and called it a top priority of the agency http://leaders.ng/boko-haram-relaunches-radio-station-now-massively-recruting-members/

Home Nigeria 13 SANs is the Only Difference Between President Buhari and Kaduna’s Certificateless Teachers November 18, 20171199 With Reno Omokri First of all, let me seek the permission of my readers to invent a new word. The word certificateless does not exist on the English dictionary. I invented it due to the peculiar situation we find ourselves in, in Nigeria. The word is created to be a noun which simply means the absence of a certificate in a situation where a certificate is required. For instance, both President Muhammadu Buhari and the 20,000 Kaduna State teachers in the midst of Nasir El-Rufai’s brouhaha are certificateless. I will state this saga with a true story. In Edo history, there existed a particular Oba who lived for a very long time. Now his edaiken (first son and heir apparent) was growing tired of waiting for the throne, so he sent his father a calabash with ash in it. His father got the message and sent back the calabash but this time, he mixed the ash with honey, indicating to his son that life was still sweet and he was not ready to quit the scene. I am a deep political animal. I do not believe that local Kaduna issues are all that has led to the brouhaha of El-Rufai’s threat to sack 20,000 teachers that failed a primary four test and are thus certificateless. I think that El-Rufai, who has styled himself as magajin Buhari sees himself as something like an edaiken. You may ask, what type of subliminal message is Nasir El-Rufai passing to Muhammadu Buhari by threatening to sack 20,000 teachers without CERTIFICATES? Think about it! If a teacher cannot teach without certificate, is it a President that can preside without certificate? The threat is El-Rufai’s calabash of ash to Buhari and Nigerians in the know are waiting for Buhari’s response. Be that as it may, The 13 SANs defending President Buhari in his certificate issue should be prevailed upon to also defend the 20,000 Kaduna teachers facing sack. After all, their cases are the same! And on Monday the 13th of November 2017, the Presidency released a statement declaring that President Buhari supports El-Rufai’s plans to sack the certificateless teachers. The only difference between President Buhari and the 20,000 Kaduna teachers whose sack he endorsed is that the Kaduna teachers don’t have the money to hire 13 SANs. What is the difference between Buhari and those teachers? Who has a certificate between them? Do these people have any shame at all? How can Nigeria progress when we sack teachers for not having certificates and install Presidents who don’t have certificates? It is rather like a company saying a messenger without WASSCE is unqualified meanwhile its MD is in the same boat. How will the company be profitable? You cannot fight certificatelessness in primary school teachers and promote certificatelessness for a second term. Make up your mind. It is either you are fine with certificatelessness or you are not! Certificateless teachers teach Kaduna children and you are not surprised when they fail. Certificateless President runs your economy and you are surprised when it fails? Can zero plus zero ever equal more than zero? And the President’s certificatelessness has reverberated beyond Nigeria. He is not considered as someone to be reckoned with in Nigeria by his peers on the continent. African leaders even respect Rochas Okorocha more than President Muhammadu Buhari. They fly into Nigeria, go straight to Imo to see Rochas and check out without ever going to Abuja. Could such a thing have happened under Presidents Obasanjo, Yar’Adua or Jonathan? That is how irrelevant President Buhari has become even in his own country. And why will they not think that the President is a joke? A man without certificate who is so backward in his thinking that after former President Jonathan opened the floodgates for women combatants to join the Nigerian Army, this Stone Age despot that we call a President unilaterally overturned the policy ostensibly because Northern Muslim leaders are opposed to women serving in the military. Can we be surprised about this action from a man who believes women belong in the other room? And that rightly named Lai Mohammed had the guts to say that President Buhari is cleaning up the Peoples Democratic Party’s Augean Stable. Really? Which mess PDP is President Buhari cleaning exactly? * CleaningN87 fuel for N145 fuel * Cleaning N199 to 1$ for N375 for $1 * Cleaning N8k bag of rice for N18k bag * Cleaning N1 bag of cement for N4k bag of cement * Cleaning women combatants from army? I mean the facts speak for themselves. And in the midst of the economic chaos that President Muhammadu Buhari has unleashed on Nigeria, his number one priority is not finding out why the United Nations has projected that Nigeria will have more people in extreme poverty than India by February of 2018 even though India has eight times our population. The President is in re-election mode and has shifted focus from governance (not that he was ever focused on that account). His latest re-election gimmick is to visit a Southeast that he had never once visited before as President. But the President is making a big miscalculation if he thinks he can buy the support of the Igbo for his re-election. What the Igbo need is not a Presidential visit. They need to be included in government. There isn’t a single Igbo man heading any of the military or paramilitary forces in Nigeria. They are all headed by Northern Muslim men, except one (Navy) headed by a South-Southerner. The Army, Air Force, Police, Customs, Immigration and Prisons are led by Northern Muslim men. Only the Navy is led by a Southerner. That is why the policy allowing women combatants was almost scrapped by Armed Forces Council but for the mass protest it prompted, because the North opposes it and the South, which supports it, is underrepresented. The Buhari administration is a thoroughly discredited government whose focus should be to help the President pack his load and move back to Daura to tend to his cows that never increase in number rather than this focus on his re-election. This is why I was rather surprised at the surprise of the Ikoyi whistle-blower that he had not been paid. That Ikoyi whistle-blower should have known better than to expect the Buhari administration to keep their promise to him. Have they kept their promise to Nigerians? If they can’t keep that one is it his they will keep? In fact, some of the mad people you see on the streets may just be whistle-blowers who blew the whistle for the EFCC. You never know. You just never know! Now I understand why The Buhari administration has refused to fulfill its campaign promises. It is not their fault. Just like the Ikoyi whistle-blower, they do not want us to get mad if we see too many fulfilled promises. For example, PDP fulfilled too many promises and we got mad and voted for APC! President Buhari is preparing for re-election and does not want that type of madness again! And as the 75-year-old President Buhari surreptitiously kicks off his re-election campaign, he should not test the Nigerian people, who have borne the weight of his unprecedented misrule, too much. What we want from him, even if he intends to run in 2019, is a free and fair election. Already, we are seeing the business interests of likely rivals being dealt a massive blow. If their contracts with the Federal Government are not being illegally cancelled, then expatriate quotas are being revoked. This in a country screaming that it wants foreign investments. Saudi Arabia has a 32-year-old Crown Prince who is fighting corruption, growing the economy and has now allowed women to drive while Nigeria has a 75-year-old (allegedly) President who has ruined the economy while pretending to fight corruption and has no single youth in his cabinet! Different strokes for different folks! https://www.thisdaylive.com/index.php/2017/11/18/13-sans-is-the-only-difference-between-president-buhari-and-kadunas-certificateless-teachers/ |

At least three Nigerian soldiers and a militiaman were killed in a Boko Haram ambush on the edge of Sambisa forest near the border with Cameroon, military and militia sources told AFP Saturday. The ambush occurred as troops returned to base late Friday in the town of Gwoza near the mountainous border with Cameroon after destroying three Boko Haram camps in their forest enclave, the sources said. “We lost three soldiers and a member of the CJTF (anti-Boko Haram militia) in the ambush,” a military officer involved in the offensive said. “Ten soldiers and three CJTF were injured in the fight,” said the military source who asked not to be identified as he was not authorised to speak. A militia source backed his account. While returning to base the civilian militia-backed troops came under attack from Boko Haram fighters who “came from all directions”, militiaman Haruna Tola said. “They came firing heavy weapons from all directions around 6:00 pm (1900GMT) and encircled the team,” Tola added... http://punchng.com/boko-haram-kills-three-soldiers-in-ambush/amp/ |

We cannot be comforted by the army’s claim in defeating Boko Haram when we can see soldiers themselves dying Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) has claimed responsibility for an attack which killed eight soldiers in Sassawa villege, near Damturu, Yobe State on 24 October. Lietenant H Shuaibu, commander of a forwarding base in Sassawa was killed in the attack. According to a Nigerian Army situation report seen by Sahara Reporters, the Army received credible intelligence that Boko Haram terrorists were planning a major attack on troops of the 233 Battalion stationed at the forwarding base in Sassawa on October 17, 2017. Army Intelligence officers notified the Nigerian Air Force and requested for air cover. Curiously, however, the request was not acted upon until the terrorists struck, killing Lieutenant Shuaibu, eight soldiers and seriously injuring 3 others. In a statement on SITE, on Thursday, October 26, 2017, the terrorist group claimed that its “fighters took three four- wheel-drive vehicles and others mounted with rifles and heavy weaponry and various ammunition,” in the attack. An eye witness, who told news that “The boys (insurgents) had a field day. After the attack, they forced many shops and stores open and carted food items away”. Kayode Ogunsany a spokesman of 3 division military base in Damaturu said, “There was casualty on both sides but I cannot ascertain the number. Men on ground had repelled the attack.” But a military source said, “So far, 15 bodies of soldiers killed in the attack at Sasawa have been recovered, including that of an officer. “Seven more bodies were found in the course of search and rescue operations by 27 Brigade and 233 Battalion. More (soldiers) are still missing and their fate is unknown.” President Muhammadu Buhari expressed concern over alleged cooperation between Islamic State of Iran and Syria, ISIS, terrorist group and Boko Haram in press conference after meeting with his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan. This claim by ISWAP has confirmed the speculation of the expanding influence and collaboration of the Islamic State in the West African region and the affiliation of the Abu Mus’ab al-Barnawi (son of Mohammed Yusuf, founder of Boko Haram) group of Boko Haram which has been active in the borders of Niger. It is also the first time IS has taken full responsibility for an attack in Nigeria. The senior special assistant to the plateau state government and Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Jos north, Cano Nenman Gowon, said, “The church needs to be concerned about this claim of responsibility by IS. The country (Nigeria) need to be very worried. This simply indicates that we have a long war ahead of us with Islamic terrorist groups.” “We cannot be comforted by the army’s claim in defeating Boko Haram when we can see soldiers themselves dying every now and then in the hands of the Islamic terrorists. As a church we must be concerned and be very prayerful,” he declared. Short Note Still on Family Writers Press Convention. My warmest regard to all our invitees. Family Writers Press started like a dream. It was a project born out of passion and love for the voiceless. I am so delightful that a day like this has finally come, though I am not present at the occasion because of unforeseen circumstances but I am very proud that those handling the events are equal to the task. Our people must understand that media is power and in this aspect, our people are lacking seriously when it comes to global affairs. Family Writers Press is here to propagate our own gospel, Family Writers Press is here to project the voice of our people to the entire world, Family Writers Press is here to tell our own story. Days are gone when we beg people to write about us, days are gone when we rely on others before our voices would be heard. We have gone far in letting the world hear our voices, we have established serious powerful international media contacts ready to work with us. Our journalists are not being paid rather they contribute from their own pockets to make sure that the voices of our people are heard globally. I am delightful to work with this set of people who voluntarily and passionately want the world to hear our own side of the story. Our people must understand that those who control the media, also control the minds of the people and there is an urgent need for our people to know our problems and where it is coming from. The earlier we dictate where our problems are, the better for our people. I salute the courage and presence of everybody in this epoch first ever convention of Family Writers Press. What we need from our people is courage and support; we promise we shall never disappoint our people. May God bless you all. Merci! Emeka Gift Nnaoma FWP Founder. |

Suspected Boko Haram members have attacked Sassawa village, Damaturu Local Government Area of Yobe State and killed eight soldiers. A top security source told Daily Trust that the attackers stormed the village in five Hilux vans around 6pm Tuesday and opened fire on the soldiers. “The attackers took the soldiers unawares at a football pitch. One officer and seven other soldiers were killed. Some others got injured,” he said. A resident of the place said the military conveyed the copses of the eight military men to Damaturu yesterday morning. “The boys (attackers) had a field day. After the attack, they forced many shops and stores open and carted food items away,” he said. When contacted, the spokesman of 3 Division Military Base in Damaturu, Colonel Kayode Ogunsanya, said there was an attack on the military but he could not give the level of casualty. “There was casualty on both sides but I cannot ascertain the number. Men on ground had repelled the attack,” he said. The Police Commissioner, Yobe State Command, Mr Abdulmaliki Sumonu, said they were still working on the details. Since the establishment of the military base in Sassawa, which is 37 kilometers away from Yobe State capital, Damaturu, the Tuesday attack would be the fourth on the town and military formation in the area. Sassawa village has been without GSM network since the insurgency heightened in the area. https://www.dailytrust.com.ng/boko-haram-kills-8-soldiers-in-yobe.html |
fighters ambushed a military convoy in Borno State, security and civilian sources told AFP on Thursday. The attack, which happened on Wednesday near the town of Damboa, on the edge of Boko Haram’s Sambisa Forest enclave in Borno state, is the second against the military within a week. Last Friday, one soldier was killed and nine others were wounded as the jihadists overran a military base in the town of Marte, near the shores of Lake Chad. They then fled with arms and ammunition. A senior military officer said the attack, which happened early on Wednesday, targeted a convoy travelling between Damboa and state capital Maiduguri. “We lost three soldiers in the ambush by Boko Haram terrorists. “The terrorists in large number opened fire on the convoy of the commanding officer of 81 Battalion… Five other troops were injured in the intense battle that broke out when soldiers engaged the attackers.” The officer, who spoke on condition of anonymity as he was not authorised to talk to the media, said the arrival of reinforcements forced the rebels to retreat. A commercial bus driver who was caught in the ambush gave a similar account. “I was one of those trailing behind the military convoy when Boko Haram opened fire and soldiers responded with fire,” said Sani Mato by telephone from Maiduguri. “The soldiers were able to repel the attack but lost three men. Five were also injured.” Roads to and from Maiduguri are nominally open to traffic but in reality, vehicles require a military escort because of the risk of attack. Nigeria’s military and government maintain that Boko Haram is a spent force as a result of sustained counter-insurgency operations against them since early 2015. Deadly attacks have dropped in recent weeks, which security sources attribute to renewed military offensives after the end of the rainy season in September. But suicide bombings remain a threat, particularly to civilians at “soft” targets such as mosques, markets and camps for those displaced by the conflict. On October 12, five people were killed in a suicide attack in the remote village of Belbelu, near Kayamla, in the Konduga area of Borno state. http://ngdailynews.com/2017/10/boko-haram-kills-three-soldiers-borno/ |
