It is the dream of every young person especially Nigerians, to go to school, graduate with great degrees, get a job and then somehow, get rich. But through observance of the way people behave, I've come to learn that there are 6 major mistakes which prevent people from becoming successful and wealthy. lets discuss them one after the other. 1. It never occurs to you to become wealthy: The average person has grown up in a family where he has never met or known anyone who is wealthy. He goes to school, socializes with people who are not wealthy, birds of the same feather flock together. He hangs out with people who are not wealthy; even if he knows wealthy people, maybe he sees them on TV only and he has no role models who are wealthy. Now if this has or is happening to you in your school days, after the age of 20 or so, you can actually grow up and become a fully matured adult in the society and it may never occur to you that it is just as possible for you to become wealthy as for anyone else.So the first reason why you may not be wealthy is because it never occurs to you that you can be wealthy; and of course if it never occurs to you, then you wont get to take any steps to make it a reality. So, reset your mind! 2. You never decide to be wealthy: The primary course of under achievement and failure, is that the great majority of people don't decide to be successful. Even if a person reads a book or attend a lecture or associates with people who are financially successful, nothing changes unless he makes a decision to do something different. Even if it occurs to a person that he could become wealthy if he just did some certain things in some certain ways, if he doesn't decide to take the first step, he ends up staying as he is. You must have heard the saying "You cant do the same thing always and expect different results". 3. You give up too easily: Yeah, this is one difference between a rich man and a poor man. A poor man is quick to wave aside any tasks he terms 'too difficult'. Do not forget that in as much as you can get rich, it is not and will never be an easy task, even if you result to armed robbery which many term an easy way, but very evil, you could be shot by the police! So brace up, do not give up! 4.You Procrastinate: Procrastination simply means, putting off or postponing an event for a later time. People always have a good reason not to begin doing what they know they need to do to achieve financial independence. It's always excuses like "its the wrong month" or "the wrong season or year" and so on. There always seems to be reasons to procrastinate. As a result, they keep putting it off, month by month, year by year, season by season until its too late. Even if it occurs to a person that they can become wealthy and they made a decision to change, procrastination will push all their plans into the indefinite future and nothing will ever happen. 5. You Cannot Save Money: The great majority of people have an irresistible temptation to spend every single money or pay they make and whatever else remains, they can borrow, or buy on credit. If you cannot delay gratification, and discipline yourself from spending everything you make, you cannot become wealthy. W.K Stone said "If you cannot save money, then the seeds of greatness are not in you". If you cannot practice budgeting as a life long habit, it will be impossible for you to achieve financial independence 6. You lack time perspective: Time perspective is defined as the amount of time you take into consideration when planing your day to day activity and when making important decisions in your life. The young couple who just wedded and decides putting N1000 aside in a separate bank or funding organisation, so that their new born child can go to the best schools is a couple with long time perspective. They' re willing to sacrifice in the short term to ensure good and better results in the long term. People with long time perspective almost invariably, move up economically in the course of their life time. http://www.generalkizi.com/2015/09/6-reasons-why-your-poor.html |

Got a call from this number 09038144818 some 50 minutes ago. The following conversation ensued: Deep Voice : Hello, how are you? Me: I'm fine. Deep Voice : That's good. Are you at home? Me: Yes. Deep Voice : Okay. How have you been? Me : Fine. Please, who am I talking to? Deep Voice : AAH! You mean you don't know who you're talking to? Me: Yes, sorry! Deep Voice : Guess! Me: yeah, I've been doing that since you called. ( I ran a quick query on the voice database in my head, the only close match was my boss in school) Me: Dr. XYZ? Deep Voice: (laughs) So you have a good guessing skill. (I was surprised because I knew my boss didn't have the number from which he called me. But he and I had gotten kind of close, so it wasn't out of place for him to play a prank on me) Me: Sir, I've never called you from this number, how did you get it? and why is your voice deeper? Deep Voice: Don't worry about that. I had an accident, I mistakenly knocked down a police man with my car. I've been shouting since 30mins ago in the police station. ... Continues I told them I was going to call my lawyer but I was actually looking for a way out. I can't call my wife, she'll panic. They have taken the police man to the station. They doctors say they need N100,000 to commence treatment. As at now with me, I have only N80,000 with me and need more N20k. Do you have 20k? Me: (confused) I'm not sure.... Deep Voice : Okay, this is what you'll do for me. Is there any recharge card shop close by? Me: Yeah! Deep Voice : Good, please buy me recharge card of N1,500 so I can call a friend who will bail me out. Me : ( aaaah.... Kizi, na u dis man dey take play volley ball?? - Why would Dr. XYZ call you to bail him out when he has big and millionaire friends? - How did he get the number you started using not quite long ago and had never used to call him. The only number he has is my main line and that's what we use to communicate. - why is he spending the credit that he claims not to have? - why...why.... Will..... In fact eh! Me: Please cut the call and call me on my other line. Deep Voice : Your other number is in my other phone at home with my wife. (I cut the call. Then called back after a minute). Me : Yes please, I'm not convinced you're Dr. XYZ. Please what department is Dr. XYZ from?? Deep Voice : aaaah.. So you don't believe me?? OK forget. It's alright. Me : Noo.. It's not like that. Just want to be sure. Deep Voice : it's okay. (Cuts the call) (By now, the scale falls completely from my eyes, I become angry and dial his number again, but be rejects the call) (I call him again with my second line and he picks) Me: See eh! Make thunder wey do....... (bleep.. Bleep... Bleep, he hangs the call) (I decide to go through text messages. See conversation in the snap shots) Hmm.. Nigerians. We dey everywhere!
