Religion / Re: Christian Terrorism [the Peak Of Hypocrisy] by byteHead(m): 9:26am On Nov 13, 2016 |
In modern history, there have been dreadful acts of violence committed by christians against civilians. Examples of modern Christian terrorist groups include Lord’s Resistance Army in Uganda; Antibalaka in Central African Republic; IRA and the Orange Volunteers in Northern Ireland. Most analysts are hesitant to associate terrorism with Christianity. But a mere a glance at these their actions shows that there is something inherently violent about the faith. The violence of course is a natural extension of the Bible, where violence is explicitly stated in the sacred book in terms of vengeance or punishment (see for example Romans 3:10-18; Numbers 31:2; Deuteronomy 20:16-17; Samuel 15:18; Psalms 55:15). 5 Likes 3 Shares |

There is no creator for DNA. No intelligence is required to encode DNA. Instead, the information in DNA is the result of natural selection acting upon random mutations, rather than the actions of a God. Although there is no direct fossil evidence for the evolution of DNA (because of its size and fragility), scientists have theorized on its origins based on verified laboratory evidence. . 2 Likes |

HARDDON: Your questions betray a fundamental misunderstanding of evolutionary theory. Humans did not evolve from monkeys; humans and monkeys both evolved from an extinct common ancestor. To ask a question of the form ‘If Species A evolved from Species B, how come Species B still exists?’ is to misunderstand how evolution works. Entire species do not evolve into new species; new species tend to evolve as isolated offshoots of existing (parent) species. In some cases, newly evolved species can end up out-competing their parent (or sibling) species, driving them to extinction, but by no means in all cases. So, even if Species A evolved from Species B, there is no reason why Species B should not still exist. Most noticeable evolution happens over very long periods of time. All living creatures are all evolving all the time. It's just a very slow process—much slower than we can observe in our lifetimes. 3 Likes 2 Shares |

You have no idea how awful the human body is. Our bodies show no intelligent design at all. Examples :We have two eyes to see in 3D. While we may have great depth perception, our field of view is limited. A pigeon with eyes on either side of its head can't see 3D, but can see almost all around its body. How many car accidents occur or people getting attacked from behind because our peripheral vision is so bad? We are not particularly strong or fast. Our genitali.a are a mess: urine and semen come out of the same hole in males, and the female reproductive system seems totally unable to handle our large-headed babies. Of course, we weren't designed. We evolved, and evolution is not a directed process seeking perfection. Technology helps us overcome the many flaws in our body to extend our reach on earth. 5 Likes 2 Shares |

jnrbayano: Jesus seems to have squandered his alleged supernatural powers on frivolous nonsense. Instead of bringing mankind a cure for heart disease and cancer, he used his magic to curse a fig tree. Instead of ending birth defects and infant mortality, he filled pigs wth demons. Instead of ending world hunger and illiteracy, he conjured up a jug of wine. What an incredible waste of omnipotence. 5 Likes |

UrennaNkoli: According to religion, prefering knowledge to mere obedience, seeking to know rather than just submitting means you are defying god. Why this ban on intelligence? According to religion you can be anything except become intelligent. What a fate god has in store for man: stupidity, ignorance and mortality. A god who offers such gifts to his creatures must be perverse. 9 Likes |

DeepSight: Instincts are programmed in animals through evolution and natural selection. That's how living things adapt to their environments. Then the best adaptations get passed on to their off-spring. Please note that cats do learn to hunt. In fact, their parents spend painstaking time teaching them. Watch Natgeo Wild. I am speaking of domestic cats. They are born with a hunting and chasing instinct. But they are not necessarily born hunters that kill for food. Killing and eating prey are behaviors which they learn from the mother cat.A cat can be a skillful mouse killer and yet never eat a single mouse or even desire to eat one. 2 Likes |

DeepSight: These behaviors are called innate or instincts. An innate behavior is any behavior that occurs naturally in all animals of a given species. It is a hard-wired, inborn behavior that enables a human or animal to cope with its environment. Eg Cats are natural-born hunters. They don’t need to learn how to hunt. Spiders spin their complex webs without learning how to do it from other spiders. 2 Likes |

Furthermore the story says after d crowd and pharisees had melted away (presumably from embarrassment because of what Jesus said "he that is without sin should cast d first stone"), nobody was left except Jesus and d woman. In that case who is d narrator of what Jesus said to her. Very fine story indeed. |

ValentineMary: A very big problem that we face is trying to reconcile general relativity which describes gravitation, and applications to large-scale structures (stars, planets, galaxies), with the demands of quantum mechanics which describe fundamental forces acting on d atomic scale. The conflict between the two halves of physics has been brewing for more than a century. In general relativity, events are continuous and deterministic, meaning that every cause matches up to a specific, local effect. In quantum mechanics, events produced by the interaction of subatomic particles happen in jumps ( quantum leaps), with probabilistic rather than definite outcomes. Quantum rules allow connections forbidden by classical physics. When you try to interpret smooth relativistic laws in a quantum style, or vice versa, things go dreadfully wrong. 1 Like |

johnydon22: What i mean is that d entire universe follows the same laws. And these laws never change. Your coffee left on a counter will always become cool. Gravity remains steady, never random. The speed of light remains constant. The earth rotates in 24 hours. 2 Likes |

Nature is relentless and unchangeable and it is indiffernt as to whether its actions and hidden reasons are understable to man or not. Probably d most daunting task dat we face as rational animals is d contemplation of our own relative weight in d scheme ofthings. Our place in d universe is so unimaginably small dat we cannot contemplate it for so long due to our egoistic minds. Also d realization dat we may be quite random as presences on earth gives scant comfort. 2 Likes |

Religion originated in fear and curiosity. Religion implies d renouncement of human reason and justice. It is d most decisive negation of human liberty and necessarily ends in d enslavement of mankind both in theory and practice. 1 Like |

The fact dat credulity should be gross in proportion to d ignorance of d mind dat it enslaves, is in strict consistency wit d principles of human nature. The conception of gods originated in fear and curiosity. Primitive man unable to understand d phenomena of nature and harrased by them saw in every terrible manifestation some sinister force expressly directed against him; and as ignorance and fear are d parents of all superstition, d troubled fancy of d primitive man wove d god idea. 2 Likes |
