Politics / Tompolo’s Trial: Group Wants Keyamo Replaced As Efcc’s Prosecutor by byteHead(m): 6:28pm On Dec 25, 2015
A group, the Niger Delta Anti-Corruption Group, has said it is not comfortable with human rights lawyer, Festus Kayemo, being the prosecutor of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in the trial of former Niger Delta militant warlord, Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo.

EFCC had on Tuesday at the Federal High Court in Lagos filed a 40-count criminal charge of unlawful conversion against Tompolo and a former boss of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, Patrick Akpobolokemi.
In a suit, FHC/L/5539C/15, filed on behalf of the EFCC by Keyamo, the anti-graft agency said Tompolo and Akpobolokemi converted $108.7 million and N2.1 billion, being property of NIMASA, knowing that the said sum were proceeds of stealing.

Charged along with them are three others as well as five limited liability companies.
But reacting on Thursday, NDACG in a statement issued in Akure, Ondo State and signed by its National Coordinator, Comrade A. Effiong, and the Director of Publicity, Sylvester Ebiowei, said Keyamo, who once accused Tompolo of threat to his life, was not in a better position to stand as prosecutor for EFCC.

The group said if the anti-graft agency wants to get results from the trial, Keyamo should be replaced with someone more courageous and dependable.

The group said though he is very competent, he may not be able to handle the case effectively and satisfactorily.
According to it, Kayemo has unsettled issues with Tompolo before now.
It contended that though the group holds Kayemo in high esteem, using him to prosecute the case involving Tompolo could jeopardize the matter, alleging that Kayemo was capable of compromising in the case against the wishes of EFCC.

“There have been speculations from the public that Keyamo is likely to be compromised in the trial which may frustrate the determination of the EFCC to make Tompolo face the law for whatever crime he had committed against the government. And we stand by that position. We are not comfortable with Keyamo handling this case,” the group said.
It demanded that EFCC should get a prosecutor that can never compromise the trial of Tompolo for any inducement from any quarters.
Besides, the group urged EFCC to thoroughly investigate the N13 billion allegedly paid to Tompolo for the acquisition of the Nigerian Maritime University at Okerenkoko, Delta State.
It commended President Muhammadu Buhari’s fight against corruption, urging Nigerians to cooperate and support him.

Politics / Desperation For Re-election Caused Looting Under Jonathan – Prof Sagay by byteHead(m): 5:59pm On Dec 25, 2015
Nigerians could be in for more surprises in the New Year as more high profile personalities might face trial in 2016.

The Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee on Anti-Corruption, Professor Itsey Sagay, in an interview with Channels Television, said that the last set of looting of the nation’s wealth was in desperation to win elections at all cost.

“What I saw from all I have put together is that this last set of looting arose out of determination for reelection. Money was being distributed recklessly and thoughtlessly in order to get back to power at any cost.

“The evidence is still hot, the witnesses are present. The amounts are huge and unprecedented; amounts that have crippled the government from functioning effectively.

“The only thing you can do is to go after those first and there is much. I can tell you that the corruption is at every level; from these prominent politicians to the lowliest civil servants and even private sector.

“But the ones in the public sector, over which these high profile politicians are involved, I suspect, (would make up) probably over 90 percent in terms of assets that have been stolen.

“Those are the things that have to be dealt with first because they are immediate. So it is not discriminatory, it just happened that the people in government are doing these things. We are all living witnesses of what happened in the NSA’s office.

“You cannot overlook those things and say ‘oh they may suspect me of being selective’. If you leave it then you have left the substance,” he said.

Professor Sagay gave the assurance that the present government remains committed to fighting corruption at all levels but acknowledged the need for caution.

“My personal view, not the committee’s view and certainly not the government’s view, is that the position of the President is a sensitive one. If somebody has been a president before he should be very careful in thinking of any physical thing like incarceration and so on.”

He added, “Efficient investigation, effective prosecution, speedy adjudication and effective sanctions. Those are the four policies we are working on.

“You’re going to see slowness at the beginning but the results, when they begin to come, will make a great impact – a decisive departure from the past.”

Politics / Fresh Facts Expose How Ekweremadu, Others Withdrew N8 Billion, Laundered Funds by byteHead(m): 8:37am On Dec 17, 2015
Fresh details have emerged on how members of the National Assembly Committee on the Review of the 1999 Constitution withdrew N7.75 billion purportedly to amend Nigerian constitution.
PREMIUM TIMES had last week exposed how the federal lawmakers collected the money in tranches to purportedly alter the document between 2011 and 2015, but which former President Goodluck Jonathan refused to sign into law.
While the 49-member Senate Committee on Constitution Review led by the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, withdrew a total N4,500,000.00 for the exercise, the 53-member House of Representatives Committee headed by the former Deputy Speaker, Emeka Ihedioha, spent N3,250,000,000.00.
The documents, exclusively obtained by this newspaper, also showed that the Committee withdrew money from its account few days before the 2015 general elections. The presidential and National Assembly elections held on March 28.
While on March 2, it withdrew N83.33m, it withdrew the same amount 21 days later, precisely on March 23. Yet, on April 13, two days after the governorship election, it withdrew another N83.33m.
The fresh documents exclusively obtained by this newspaper which exposed bank transactions showed that the two committees transferred various sums of money from two National Assembly accounts – 321/212/606/1/1/0 and 321/212/606/1/1/3 domiciled in Guarantee Trust Bank to their own accounts in different banks.
While the House Committee transferred funds to its account in Zenith Bank, its counterpart in the Senate transferred monies to its three accounts domiciled in Bank PHB (now Keystone Bank), Oceanic Bank (now EcoBank) and United Bank for Africa.
According to the documents, the House Committee transferred to its Zenith Bank account N500m on December 16, 2011; N500m on May 17, 2012; N250m on August 6, 2013; and N250m on November 11, 2013; N250m on February 20, 2014; N250m on May 27, 2014; N250m on August 21, 2014; N166.5m on a date not specified; N83.5m on December 5, 2014; and N83.33 on March 2, 2015.
The committee, on different occasions, also withdrew huge amounts in cash, serially violating Nigerian money laundering law.
Part 1, Subsection 1 of the Money Laundering Act 2011 provides that “No person or body corporate shall, except in a transaction through a financial institution, make or accept cash payment of a sum exceeding- (a) N5,000,000.00 or its equivalent, in the case of an individual; or (b)N10,000,000.00 or its equivalent in the case of a body corporate.”
It withdrew N250m on October 29, 2012; N250m on May 8, 2013; N83.33m on March 23, 2015 and another N83.33m on April 13, 2015.
The Senate Committee, the documents revealed, transferred the sum of N125m on April 21, 2010 to Bank PHB; N250m on June 10, 2010 to Oceanic Bank; N125m on a date not specified; to Oceanic Bank and N250m on October 13, 2010 to Bank PHB. The transactions were made before the Committee was inaugurated in the 7th Assembly in 2011
It also transferred N250m on a date not specified to Oceanic Bank; N250m on February 9, 2011to Bank PHB; N500m on December 16, 2011 to Bank PHB; N250m on May 17, 2012 to Bank PHB; N250m on July 23, 2013 to Keystone Bank, N250m on November 5, 2013 to Keystone Bank; N250m on February 5, 2014 to Keystone; N250m on May 22, 2014 to Keystone; N250m on August 18, 2014 to Keystone; N166.6m on November 25, 2014 to Keystone; N83.4 on December 5, 2014 to Keystone; and N83.33m on February 27, 2015 to Keystone.
It further withdrew N250m on April 20, 2012; N250m on February 27, 2013; N250m on May 8, 2013; N83.33m on March 17, 2015; and N83.33 on a date not specified, in cash.
This again was a clear violation of Nigeria’s money laundering law.
PREMIUM TIMES could not reach Mr. Ekweremadu to speak on this story last week. He did not respond to calls to his mobile telephone nor replied a text message sent to him.
Mr. Ihedioha directed this newspaper to the Clerk of the House, Sani Omolori, who did not respond to our enquiries by phone.
The management staff of the National Assembly, including its Clerk, Salisu Maikasuwa, did not also respond to our enquiries.
Uche Anichukwu, the media aide to Mr. Ekweremadu, however issued in a statement on Saturday, denying that members of the two committees judiciously spent the huge sum on the fourth alteration of the Constitution.
“The Office wishes to state categorically that there was no “pocketing” of N8 billion by members of the Committee on Constitution Review in the 7th Senate chaired by Senator Ekweremadu,” the statement said.
The statement also claimed members of the 7th National Assembly and the 36 state assemblies did not fail in their legislative duties towards the realization of the fourth amendment of the 1999 Constitution.
Mr. Anichukwu said, “Members diligently and successfully piloted the most elaborate amendments to the 1999 Constitution through all the legislative due process. They were indeed amendments that held great promises for the nation’s democracy”.
The statement did not attempt to explain how the several billions withdrawn by committee members were spent or why committee members were withdrawing as much as N250million in cash, serially committing money laundering.

Politics / Most Wanted Mexican Drug Lord El Chapo 'vows To Destroy Islamic State' by byteHead(m): 11:55pm On Dec 10, 2015
A Mexican blogger claims to have been leaked an email in which the fugitive drug lord threatens vengeance

Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, the world's most wanted drug lord, has reportedly issued a threat to wipe out Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (Isil) if they interfere with his operations in the Middle East.

According to a Mexican blog that reports on the country's drug cartels, the message was contained in an email, which has not been verified, that was leaked by a member of Guzman's Sinaloa cartel.

Guzman escaped from a maximum security prison in July after his associates dug a mile-long tunnel into his cell.

According to cartelblog.com, the email was sent after Isil destroyed a Sinaloa drug shipment in the Middle East, where it reportedly provides party drugs to customers including wealthy princes.

It reportedly named Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of Isil, and said: "My men will destroy you. You are not soldiers. You are nothing but lowly p------. Your god cannot save you from the true terror that my men will levy at you if you continue to impact my operation.

"I pity the next son of a LovePeddler that tries to interfere with the business of the Sinaloa Cartel. I will have their heart and tongue torn from them."

In October, authorities in Mexico said Guzman and been injured in a failed operation to recapture him at a ranch in the Sierra Madre mountains after US agents tracked his phone.

His prison escape was a major embarrassment for the Mexican government and more than a dozen prison officials have been detained over charges they helped him flee.

15 things that get weider and weirder the more you think about it.

1. Its so interesting to know that billions of people live their lives from their own perspective, its not just you.

2. Close both of your eyes and you see black. Close only one eye and you see nothing.

3 What if rocks were actually soft but tense up when we touch them.

4. The amount if ancestors i have, and with no kids, that line stops at me. So many things would have happened in the past for me to exist. Its weird to think about it.

5 . Sleep. The fact that you basically go into a coma for eight hours every night is pretty crazy.

6. People insert other peoples genitals into their mouth as a sign of affection.

7. Trying to think of a color that doesnt exist. It tears me apart after a minute or two.

8. Pronunciation of the word 'colonel' angry

9. Words. Just random words. Like, thus. What does it actually mean? And sometimes i would think about a word it wont feel like a real word anymore. Sometimes i say my name over and over again and realize how ridiculous it sounds compared to how its spelled. Languages are hard and complicated.

10.You've known your parents your entire lives but they have only known you for a part of theirs.

11. Existence. Its more weird that stuff exists than the concept of nothing existing.

12. That people keep fish as pets, you can't really play with them or take them anywhere.

13. T-rex having sex

14. Clapping. Like seriously, why the hell do we do that? undecided

15. What if every person you meet is god and how you treat each one of them is a test in itself?

Politics / Just In: Efcc Finally Docks Raymond Dokpesi (photo) by byteHead(m): 2:48pm On Dec 09, 2015
The Chairman of DAAR Communications Plc, Chief Raymond Dokpesi, was on Wednesday, December 9, arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) before a Federal High Court in Abuja.

The Punch reports that Dokpesi, who is a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is standing trial for a six count charge of money laundering and other fraud related charges.

The PDP stalwart, who was reportedly arraigned alongside his firm, Daar Investment and Holdings Ltd, pleaded not guilty to the six count charge filed against him by the anti-graft agency.

Justice Gabriel Kolawole, after taking Dokpesi’s plea, ordered that he should be remanded in the custody of the EFCC pending the hearing of his bail application by 12.30pm tomorrow, December 10.

During the hearing, counsel to the EFCC, Mr. Rotimi Jacobs (SAN),‎ accused the defendants of receiving N2.1 billion from the office of the National Security Adviser (NSA) between October 2014 and March 19, 2015.

The prosecutor told the court that the aforementioned amount was given to the defendant by NSA for PDP’s presidential media campaign, which he said was against the recommendation of the Public Procurement Act, Money laundering Act as well as the EFCC Act.

After listening to the prosecution counsel, Justice Kolawole, therefore adjourn trial till February 17, 18 and March 2 and 3 respectively.

The arraignment today is not surprising as The Nation reported yesterday, that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has filed money laundering charges against Dokpesi, former National Security Adviser (NSA) Sambo Dasuki, former Sokoto state governor, Attahiru Bafarawa, former minister of state for finance, Bashir Yuguda and former director of finance, Office of the National Security Adviser(ONSA), Shaibu Salisu.

Dokpesi was arrested by the EFCC on Tuesday, December 1, for being a party of the arms purchase scandal involving Dasuki, and the theft of $2.1 billion from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), and to make matters worse, the DAAR communication chairman’s family offered conflicting statements about why Dokpesi received the money from the NSA.

The Cable reported that Dasuki, who was the first to be arrested by officials of the EFCC over the misappropriation of $2.1 billion arms procurement fund had his trial for the fresh application filed by the federal government seeking to stop him from travelling abroad for medical treatment, adjourned till January 20, 2016, by the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja.

Politics / Arms Deal: FG To Arraign Dasuki, Dokpesi, Others This Week by byteHead(m): 9:15am On Dec 07, 2015
The Federal Government is expected to arraign the former National Security Adviser (NSA), Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd), and the Chairman of DAAR Communication Plc., Chief Raymond Dopeksi, this week over alleged $2.1 billion arms deal fraud.
A member of the prosecution team, who prefers anonymity because he does have the mandate of the Federal Government to speak on the issue, said that Dasuki and Dokpesi may be arraigned this week before the court.
Others include former Minister of State for Finance, Bashir Yuguda, and former governor of Sokoto State, Attahiru Bafarawa.
According to him, “the charge against the accused persons are almost ready. Let us see what happens before this new work runs out, they will surely be arraigned. Of course, the Federal Government will not leave them in perpetual detention.

“They shall be brought to answer the charges against them before the law court,” he added.
It would be recalled that the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja had on Friday ordered the EFCC to produce Dokpesi on December 14.
The order of the court was sequel to the motion ex parte filed by Dokpesi through his counsel, Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN).

Justice Gabriel Kolawole while delivering ruling ordered that EFCC should be put on notice and appear on December 14 with the detained former boss of DAAR Communications.
In the ex parte application filed on December 3, Ozekhome prayed the court for an order to compel EFCC to produce Dokpesi, who is presently in its custody.
He also pray the court for an order admitting Dokpesi to bail on self-recognisance or liberal terms pending his formal arraignment by the anti-graft agency.

Politics / EFCC Director, Senior Operatives Arrested For Leaking Information To Bloggers by byteHead(m): 2:39am On Nov 20, 2015
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arrested an unspecified number of operatives for allegedly leaking information to bloggers.
Among those arrested are a director and other senior operatives.
It was gathered that among those in custody was a former senior operative who was dismissed from the anti-graft agency for corruption and cultism.
“There seems to be a purge here at the commission. Some of our operatives leaking information to bloggers are in custody already.

“Those arrested are a director, some senior and lower cadre officers, including a former senior operative who was dismissed for corruption and involvement in cult activities.” the source told The PUNCH.

A top operative of the commission told the newspaper that the Acting Chairman of the Commission, Mr. Ibrahim Magu, ordered the arrest of the operatives because the information they leaked was intended to cause false reports considered damaging to the image of the agency.

The source said the conduct of the affected officers contradicted their oath of office and the policy on discipline in the agency
It was learnt that the leadership of the commission was irked by the negative media report the commission has been getting recently from the mainstream media and bloggers.

33yr old woman destroys anus – Please ladies and gentlemen, refrain from anal sex. The health implications are dire. I am a nurse and I work in a private hospital around Kubwa. We see different cases but some situations are simple way beyond sanity.

How can a lady of 33, that is drop dead gorgeous allow herself to be messed up for a few thousands of naira. You need to have sex yet you want to get married a virgin so she resorts to offering her numerous boyfriends her anus instead of her vagina. Now, she is living in agony; wearing adult diapers which ordinarily is produced for the aged and sick with rectal inconsistencies.
This beautiful girl confessed that she sustained her injuries from continual anal sex because according to her, she wanted to get married a virgin. As it stands, her anal sphincter and muscles has been damaged. To this effect, she cannot feel rectal fullness, thus cannot regulate bowel movement. I shudder at the men when even stick their joysticks into the anus instead of the right place.. How do they deal with shit and all the smell that may emanate from there. Its really incredible.

Sex is good for adults that love and respect themselves and God the grand creator, made the right holes to match their various functions in the human anatomy. When you preserve your vagina yet entertain various sizes of penis in your anus, YOU ARE NO VIRGIN. I have heard of virgins who still caress the clitoris and have orgasms but this anal ish is way beyond sick. The worrying part is that its more common than we think, a large portion of grownup virgins engage in anal sex. why the deceit? why sentence yourself to a life time of wearing pampers.
This is a sad development that must be arrested before it becomes an epidemic.

Politics / Global Terrorism Index: The State Of Terror Around The World Revealed by byteHead(m): 2:33pm On Nov 17, 2015
Global terrorism is at the highest level it has ever been and continues to rise at an “unprecedented pace”, a report has found.

The Global Terrorism Index measures the scale and impact of terror attacks across the world, and found that the number of deaths from such incidents had dramatically risen since the US invasion of Iraq in 2003.

The statistical analysis was carried out by The Institute of Economics and Peace (IEP) prior to Friday’s attacks on Paris, but it nonetheless showed that the vast majority of deaths from terrorism occur in just five Muslim-majority countries - Iraq, Afghanistan, Nigeria, Pakistan and Syria.

It said a total of 32,658 people were killed by terrorists around the world in 2014 - an 80 per cent increase on the previous year.

The IEP said that since the start of the century, the number of people killed by terrorist attacks had increased nine-fold.

Presenting the IEP’s findings, executive chairman Steve Killelea said the spike in killings after 2003 highlights how “many of the countries suffering the most terrorism have also suffered from foreign military intervention”.

He said: “Although the ‘responsibility to protect’ is paramount, caution needs to be taken against unwanted consequences.

“I urge policymakers to use the findings of this report to help redefine tackling terrorism strategies and help shift focus towards peace.”

Of the 10 deadliest attacks recorded in 2014, half took place in Nigeria, of which all but one were perpetrated by the Boko Haram militant group.

The deadliest attack took place in the city of Badush in Iraq in June 2014, where Isis killed 670 people using explosives.

Isis carried out the two deadliest attacks last year, and Mr Killelea said the Paris attacks showed the group appeared to now be capable of launching “sophisticated and deadly attacks” in Europe.

The UK ranked 28th in the index - higher than the US, Iran and France, again prior to the Paris attacks.

And while the majority of the attacks recorded in the report were in Northern Ireland and involved the New IRA, Mr Killelea said Britain was hardly immune to a Paris-style incident.

“Terrorism is gaining momentum at an unprecedented pace,” he told the Press Association. “The Paris incident in many ways is a watershed within Europe.

“The UK certainly could be the victim of one of these types of attacks. We saw with al-Qaeda, its ability to be able to perform deadly attacks in London which brought the city to a standstill.

“However the UK, because of its border protection from being an island, makes it a lot harder for terrorists to get in.”

Politics / Boko Haram Planning To Bomb South-west – NOA Raises Alarm by byteHead(m): 7:51am On Nov 13, 2015
The National Orientation Agency, NOA, on Thursday warned of planned terror attacks in the South-West region by Boko Haram.

Consequently, NOA, has advised schools, churches and mosques, among other usually crowded places, on the need to put measures in place to arrest any possible attack.

A statement released in Ado-Ekiti by the state Director of NOA, Mr. Dayo Famosaya, said the alarm had become necessary because of the need to be security conscious and watch out for strangers in their neighbourhood.

Famosaya, in the statement entitled Public information on security consciousness and awareness, said Boko Haram fighters may have infiltrated the South-western part of the country, going by the content of security agents reports.

He said: “They have threatened to deploy cluster bombs in the zone. These cluster bombs are usually housed in discarded metallic materials such as cans of beverages and soft drinks.

“The bombs may be concealed in bags and for it to have more grievous effect, they have planned to deploy these bombs in crowded places such as schools, markets, stadia, churches and mosques.”

It warned the public to watch out for people wearing flowing apparel, as it was the type of cloth they wear to hide their weapons.
