The federal high court is not superior to the state high court, they are courts of coordinate (equal powers) jurisdiction. They only differ in matters of jurisdiction. For example, federal high court only deals with disputes between federal agencies or federating units, or national matters mainly...including interstate border disputes national crimes like terrorism and treason or matters of national importance however you may choose to classify them... If the court is convinced.

State high courts do these same things but involving individuals rather than agencies. E.g murder, land disputes, armed robbery and human rights violations. It can be argued that the state high courts do have a broader (not higher) jurisdiction than the Federal High Court because if you look at it properly, you will notice that almost every dispute has to do with agrieved individuals and have direct correspondence to the laws of a particular state (talking of concurrent legislative list versus exclusive list ). So in some instances...both can sit on a matter..e.g, the issue of Saraki's forgery...the federal high court is sitting on it as a crime against the country, the FCT state high court is sitting on it as a criminal act that occurred in the state.

They have equal powers and none is superior to the other.. They are both high courts.

I must have answered your question already about concurrent jurisdiction. The fact is that judges are not perfect, they may err in their rulings. Now if you want to challenge the decision of any high court, be it federal or state, you must go to the court of appeal. No other high court wade in to overrule or interptete another high court's ruling. Aside the court of appeal or supreme court, only the same high court judge that made the original ruling can decide to interprete his ruling or issue a stay of execution. Also, on the issue of hierarchy, it means the decision of an appeal court or supreme court, on matters of jurisprudence (i.e interepretation of the law, not otherwise) is binding on any type of high court that is sitting on a case similar to the one being cited. But the decision of another high court, either federal or state cannot be binding onany other high court (federal or state). The high court judge may only be persuaded but cant be compelled to follow it.

Finally, on the issue of obiter dictum. The answer again is No. Both courts are equal in hierarchy and they rarely look into similar matters anyway...and by and large, they use different laws and procedures...more so that different states even have different penal codes for example.
