At my age, I remember when Nissan was a big name in Nigeria's automobile market. From the Nissan Pathfinder, one of the most popular SUVs back then, to the Datsun, Almera, Micra, Maxima, Primera, and Sunny, Nissan was a household name. The Micra, for instance, is still widely used in Ibadan to this day. And the Datsun was everywhere back then.

And should we even talk about the Nissan Bluebird? That car was so popular that it was once my dream car growing up.
Nissan was undoubtedly one of the most successful automobile brands in Nigeria at the time and I believe was competing with Toyota at some point. I doubt anyone above 30 won't know Bluebird, Datsun or even that old Pathfinder that looks like a box.

So, when the OP says Nissan was once a major force in the Nigerian automobile market, he is stating a fact, not making an exaggerated claim.
The question is, what happened to Nissan?
In my opinion, one of the major turning points was the introduction of the Nissan Murano into the Nigerian market. The Murano had everything going for it, but its transmission problems became a serious concern among owners. I remember an uncle who bought one and eventually sold it to his mechanic. Many other owners reportedly faced similar experiences, and that damaged consumer confidence in the brand.


Then came the Nissan Altima, particularly the newer models, which also developed a reputation for electrical problems.
These experiences contributed to the erosion of public confidence in Nissan. buyers begin to associate a brand with expensive repairs, they naturally gravitate towards alternatives they consider more dependable even as at then, I believe Nissan was rated ahead of Toyota and Honda. What I learnt early in my marriage is that after discussing and planning with my Wife I always review it on my own absent her then I conclude and then tell her the resolution and she always agrees as she knows Its the best for both of us.

Before I allow her to settle plans or take decisions without me when I'm busy, serval times she did, we ended up spending more, since then, I no dey form busy again for anything plan that has to do with my family , for some family some of these decisions that costs us more like 10 times more money ,would have caused serious issues between the husband and Wife, just that I understand she did it with her best intensions.
