The Federal Government has appointed Anamekwe Nwabuoku as the acting Accountant General of the Federation.

Nwabuoku’s appointment was conveyed in a letter dated May 20th, 2022 and signed by Aliyu Ahmed, the Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning.

President Muhammadu Buhari’s former aide, Bashir Ahmad also confirmed Nwabuoku’s appointment via his Twitter handle.

“Mr. Anamekwe Chukwunyere Nwabuoku has been appointed to oversee the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation, pending the outcome of the EFCC investigation of the suspended AGF, Ahmad Idris,” he said.

His appointment followed the suspension of Ahmed Idris who is being investigated for allegedly stealing N80 billion.

The campaign organisation of Osun PDP Governorship candidate, Omooba Dotun Babayemi has asserted that its major concern and focus is how the Osun State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would win the forthcoming gubernatorial election slated for July 16, in the state.

The campaign organization made this known against the background of the meeting held with the 7-man Reconciliation Committee led by Mr Eyitayo Jegede SAN by the Omooba Dotun Babayemi and Senator Ademola Adeleke groups

In a statement, the organization stressed that it was only peace and unity that could guarantee the success of the party at the coming polls.

"While commending the Reconciliation Committee,we want to emphasize that without the desired peace,nothing could be achieved.Though not everything brought to the table came through, we were at least, able to move some grounds. This signposts some good omen for us in Osun PDP" the campaign organization said

Meanwhile, the organization has urged members of the party to continue to work assiduously for the victory at the governorship election scheduled for July 16, this year.

Those in attendance on the side of the campaign organization include the party gubernatorial candidate, Omooba Dotun Babayemi, Alhaji Fatai Akinbade, Barrister Ojo Williams, Major Raphael Towobola ( rtd), and Alhaji Rasaq Oyelami (KK) while those from the other side include Senator Ademola Adeleke, Alhaji Gani Olaoluwa,Hon Lere Oyewumi and Barrister Dosu Babatunde
