PoliticsCrisis Looms In APC Omu-aran Ward 1 As Ajuloopin Conducts Parallel Congress by Callmedondee(op): 5:17pm On Feb 19
The All Progressives Congress (APC) Omu-aran Ward 1 in Irepodun Local Government area of Kwara State has been thrown into a state of turmoil following what party members describe as a unilateral and rebellious act by the three-term federal lawmaker, Honourable Raheem Ajuloopin representing Irepodun/Oke-Ero/Isin and Ekiti federal constituency in the National Assembly.

Contrary to the clear directives issued by the Kwara State APC leadership, which mandated the reaffirmation of the existing ward executives, Hon. Ajuloopin reportedly went ahead to form an entirely new set of ward executives. This action has been met with widespread condemnation from party stakeholders, executives, and the general membership of the ward.

According to the state party’s guidelines, the congress was intended to be a simple affirmation exercise to retain the current executive structure and ensure continuity. However, sources within the ward confirmed that the lawmaker orchestrated a parallel process to install a factional leadership loyal to him, a move seen as a direct affront to the party’s chain of command.

In an emergency gathering following the incident, the authentic ward party members, the established Executive Committee, and respected leaders of the constituency expressed their profound displeasure and disappointment. They described Hon. Ajuloopin’s actions as not only an act of insubordination but a calculated attempt to destabilize the party structure at the grassroots level.

"We are shocked and saddened that a leader of his status, who has benefitted immensely from the party’s platform for three terms, would be the one to violate the party’s constitution and disregard a simple state directive," a spokesperson for the aggrieved members stated. "His action is a slap on the face of the party leadership and a disservice to the loyal members who have worked tirelessly to build the APC in this ward."

The stakeholders have formally distanced themselves from the parallel executives purportedly set up and submitted by the lawmaker and have called for urgent intervention from the highest echelons of the party.

In a passionate appeal, the party faithful in Omu-aran Ward 1 called on the leader of the party in the state and the Executive Governor of Kwara State, His Excellency Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq CON, to take immediate notice of this breach of peace. They also pleaded with the State Party Chairman, Prince Sunday Fagbemi, to wield the big stick to preserve the integrity of the party.

The members are demanding a comprehensive probe into the circumstances surrounding the unauthorized Executive list submitted by the Lawmaker. They insist that Hon. Raheem Ajuloopin must be penalized for his actions to serve as a deterrent to others who might seek to undermine the party’s authority and create factions.

"Governor Abdulrazaq has built a unified party based on loyalty and respect for due process. We cannot allow anyone, no matter how highly placed, to tear down what we have built," the statement continued. "We trust in the wisdom of His Excellency and Prince Fagbemi to call the lawmaker to order and reaffirm the mandate of the existing executives."

As of the time of filing this report, Hon. Raheem Ajuloopin has not issued an official response to the allegations. However, the development has created palpable tension in the ward, with party loyalists awaiting the swift intervention of the state leadership to prevent further disintegration of the party's cohesion in the area.

The outcome of the state party’s response is now keenly awaited, as it will set a significant precedent for discipline and loyalty within the Kwara APC structure.

PoliticsRe: Abdulrazaq, Zulum Grace Commissioning Of Ultramodern Mosque In Kwara by Callmedondee(op): 10:27am On Nov 12, 2025
Learn to read and comprehend was the mosque built by government or individual? Stop the bitterness please learn to see good in every situation not the bad.

malali:
How many mosque does kwara already ?

How many people does a mosque employ ?

What happened to creating companies and bringing in development that will see to thousands of people being employed ?

The only prayer they will pray is against government like Abdulrazaq's

Mosque's should be built by well off private citizens and not the government. All that allocation Kwara state gets every month.

Are some governors forbidden to bring more development to their states. Abdulrazaq should be in the house of Representative,i dont think he understands what being a governor means. Kwara state has gone back 8 years since his swearing in.

I am surprised he didn't invite Tinubu to commission the mosque. Kwara is one of the only states, Nothing has been commissioned but this mosque since the beginning of this regime.

CrimeInternet Fraud: Ex-convicts Can’t Be President, Gov, Olukoyede Warns Nigerians by Callmedondee(op): 8:10am On Aug 08, 2025
Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has urged corps members and young Nigerians to steer clear of internet fraud and other corrupt practices, warning that ex-convicts have no place in Nigeria’s future leadership.

Spokesperson for the EFCC, Dele Oyewale revealed the development in a statement sent to Peoples Gazette Thursday night.

Speaking through senior officials of the Commission at various National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camps across the country, Mr Olukoyede stressed the irreversible consequences of cybercrime, including convictions that bar individuals from holding public office, securing visas, or leading credible organisations.

At the NYSC Orientation Camp in Iyana-Ipaja, Lagos, on Thursday, the anti-graft agency’s chairman, represented by Babatunde Sulaiman, Head of Public Affairs, Lagos Zonal Directorate 2, told corps members of Batch B, Stream 1, to make productive use of the internet instead of engaging in criminal activity.

“It is important for corps members to enlighten youths more on the implications of being ex-convicts,” Mr Sulaiman said on behalf of the EFCC boss. “Internet fraudsters are being convicted in multiples and wearing tags of ex-convicts. This is a roadblock to future advancements. Many of these ex-convicts are young people. The implication is grave.”

He added that ex-convicts “cannot hold leadership or public office in future. Embassy officials across the world won’t grant visas to ex-convicts, and no serious international or national enterprise can be run by those already jailed in any court of law.”

At the NYSC camp in Kaiama, Bayelsa State, Mr Olukoyede, represented by Assistant Superintendent of the EFCC II, Otagada Sunday Ogar, told the corps members that corruption was at the root of most of Nigeria’s challenges.

“As young Nigerians, you can only shape tomorrow by changing today. The fight against internet crimes and other acts of corruption is a fight that cannot wait,” he said. “If we desire an open tomorrow, we must not close our prospects today. We must work to make things work.”

In Rivers State, while addressing corps members at the Nounwa Gbam camp in Tai LGA, Deputy Superintendent of the EFCC, James Adayilo Hosea, who spoke on behalf of the chairman, reiterated the agency’s resolve to professionally tackle internet fraud across Nigeria.

Also addressing corps members at the Iseyin Orientation Camp in Oyo State, Superintendent of the EFCC, Olumide Egbodofo, charged youths to actively reject corruption. “You need to be deliberate in rejecting corrupt practices through whistleblowing and working with the EFCC to spread the anti-corruption message,” he said.

The EFCC’s anti-corruption campaign at NYSC orientation camps also spanned its directorates in Kano, Maiduguri, Ilorin, Enugu, Makurdi, Uyo, and other states, where the commission consistently urged corps members to act as “foot soldiers” in the fight against economic and financial crimes.

PoliticsBlocking Aircraft: Wasiu Ayinde ‘KWAM1’ Should Be Prosecuted For Terrorism - ADC by Callmedondee(op): 7:22am On Aug 08, 2025
Bolaji Abdullahi, the spokesperson for the opposition African Democratic Congress (ADC), has described the action of Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as KWAM1, in attempting to block an aircraft from taking off as an act of “terrorism.”

KWAM1, who was onboard a ValueJet plane on Tuesday, was seen drinking from a flask and was approached by a flight attendant who suspected the content was alcohol — a substance prohibited onboard aircraft in Nigeria — thereby disallowing him from joining the flight.

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) also accused KWAM1 of spilling alcohol on aviation personnel when they attempted to verify the content of the flask he wanted to travel with.

The action forced the minister of aviation and aerospace, Festus Keyamo, to declare a six-month flight ban on the Fuji musician, describing his behaviour as a hostage situation.

In a post on Thursday night, Mr Abdullahi commended Mr Keyamo for acting swiftly but noted that the six-month ban was only a slap on the wrist.

He explained that KWAM1 should be prosecuted for his actions at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport, Abuja.

“On this KWAM1 matter, I commend my brother, the Honorable Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo for describing the action as a ‘hostage situation.’ A hostage situation is an act of terrorism.

“What are the laws against terrorist actions in Nigeria? Will these laws be applied in this case? Placing KWAM1 on a no-fly list is a good place to start. But it must not end there.

“Nigerians know that KWAM1 is the official musician of the APC. They will therefore wait to see if this fact alone would influence how this matter is handled. If it were an ordinary citizen, it is doubtful if the individual would not be arrested on the spot and processed for prosecution,” he wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

He added, “Even if all our airports are plated in gold, if people coming into our country feel that any drunkard could block the path of an aircraft and endanger their lives, it would amount to nothing.

“Pray, if KWAM1 had done this in Europe or America, what do you think would have happened to him by now? What he did was the ULTIMATE in reckless behaviour. It is an act of terrorism and it should be treated as such. You can’t give him a mere slap on the wrist for this just because he sings for the president.”

Nairaland GeneralFCCPC Petitioned Over Alleged Exploitative Airfare By Overland Airways by Callmedondee(op): 6:21pm On Aug 05, 2025
The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has been urged to investigate what has been described as “obnoxious” and “unscrupulous” pricing practices by Overland Airways on the Lagos–Ilorin–Abuja flight route.

In a petition addressed to FCCPC’s Executive Vice Chairman, Mr. Tunji Bello, and signed by Senior Advocate of Nigeria, A.U. Mustapha, on behalf of The Third Estate and Like Minds Foundation, the airline is accused of exploiting its monopoly position as the only commercial carrier operating in and out of Ilorin’s General Tunde Idiagbon International Airport.

According to the petition, the carrier has adopted a fare structure that forces Ilorin-bound passengers to pay disproportionately higher amounts than those travelling longer distances on the same flight. The document highlights stark examples:
• Lagos–Abuja (2 hrs 15 mins): ₦160,000
• Lagos–Ilorin (50 mins): ₦260,000
• Ilorin–Abuja (55 mins): ₦300,000

This means that while a Lagos–Abuja passenger pays ₦160,000 for the full journey, the same seat can generate ₦560,000 from two Ilorin-bound passengers travelling shorter segments.

The petitioners argue that the pricing is neither distance-based nor justified by operational costs, noting that a 50-minute Abuja–Ilorin ticket is priced at ₦240,000, which is higher than the premium fare for Abuja–Lagos at ₦230,000. They also allege that when some travellers began booking cheaper Lagos–Abuja tickets and disembarking in Ilorin to avoid the inflated rates, Overland Airways introduced boarding-pass checks in Ilorin to stop the workaround — an action the petition describes as evidence of “structured exploitation.”

Citing multiple provisions of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act, 2018, the petition accuses the airline of abusing its dominant market position, charging excessive prices, discriminating in fare application, and engaging in unfair and unreasonable business practices.

The petitioners have asked the FCCPC to:
• Launch a full investigation into Overland’s fare policies on the Lagos–Ilorin–Abuja route
• Declare the current pricing regime discriminatory and anti-consumer
• Order the airline to cease such practices immediately
• Impose sanctions in line with the law

The letter, dated August 4, 2025, was also copied to the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo (SAN), and the Director-General of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, Captain Chris Ona Najumo.

Expressing confidence in the FCCPC’s ability to protect consumers, the petitioners wrote: “Our clients, along with many affected passengers, look forward to relief and redress under your regulatory authority.”

PoliticsVP Kashim Shettima Told To Resign by Callmedondee(op): 1:12am On Jul 11, 2025
Vice President Kashim Shettima has been advised to resign from his position.

A top chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mallam Salihu Isa Nataro, gave the advice, saying Shettima no longer appears to have the full backing of President Bola Tinubu.

Nataro, a former governorship aspirant in Kebbi State, said the recent confusion in Gombe State over who should run with Tinubu in 2027 shows that the Vice President may have lost his place in the President’s inner circle.

He explained that if Shettima truly values the opportunity he was given in 2022, it would be proper for him to step aside.

He noted that the Vice President should notify the President and the APC leadership of his decision to leave office without bitterness.

According to him, such a move would support the success of the Renewed Hope Agenda and show loyalty to the party.

Nataro added that if Shettima writes a public letter announcing that he will not be available to run with Tinubu in the next election, but will instead work with people in the North-East to campaign for Tinubu, it would strengthen the President’s position and calm tensions in the party.

He further stated that stepping down could give Tinubu room to pick a new running mate from the southern region, which could improve Nigeria’s image abroad and change how the youth see the current administration.

Nataro, who is also known for pushing reforms in the public sector, said Shettima can take up the role of campaign coordinator for Tinubu’s re-election and still gain honour.

He recalled how Tinubu had surprised many party leaders by choosing Shettima in 2022 without wide consultations.

PoliticsEFCC Arrests Benue Gov’s Aide For Sextortion, Cyberbullying by Callmedondee(op): 5:42pm On Jun 21, 2025
Operatives of the Makurdi Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested Dr. Mkor Aondona, Special Adviser to the Benue State Governor on Documentation, Research, and Planning, over allegations of sextortion and cyberbullying.

Dr. Aondona was apprehended on Friday, June 20, following a petition filed by multiple female students. The petitioners alleged that he abused his position by selectively recruiting “slim and attractive” young women for ushering roles and demanding sexual favours in exchange for selection.

According to the petition, the students believed they were applying for legitimate campus jobs, only to later discover that Dr. Aondona had allegedly recorded every sexual encounter without their consent. He reportedly used the footage to blackmail them into further sexual acts. “He would say, ‘If you refuse, I’ll leak the videos,’” one of the complainants told investigators.

The victims also alleged that the explicit videos were shared across multiple messaging platforms. “Some of the videos are already circulating,” they said, raising serious concerns about their safety and privacy.

The EFCC confirmed that Dr. Aondona will face formal charges once investigations are complete. A spokesperson for the Commission stated, “We treat allegations of sextortion with the utmost seriousness and are committed to ensuring justice is served.”

Dr. Aondona remains in EFCC custody, pending his arraignment in court.

Ex-Nigerian First Lady Patience Jonathan Holds 15 Domestic Workers In Prison Since 2019 Over Missing Jewellery

In a blatant violation of Nigeria’s constitutional provisions on the presumption of innocence, former First Lady Patience Jonathan has kept 15 of her domestic staff locked up in Bayelsa State’s Okaka Correctional Centre since 2019 over an unproven case of robbery.

SaharaReporters gathered that these workers have been rotting behind bars without a court conviction, as their trial has been repeatedly stalled on the orders of the influential former First Lady.

Sources familiar with the case raised the alarm, calling for urgent intervention to ensure justice for the detained workers.

“Since 2019, former First Lady Patience Jonathan has locked up about 15 of her domestic staff in Okaka Prison for allegedly stealing her jewellery, without first allowing a competent court of law to try them and sentence them.

Patience Jonathan, the wife of former President Goodluck Jonathan, served as the First Lady of Nigeria from 2010 to 2015 and as the Second Lady of Nigeria from 2007 to 2010.

PoliticsNatasha Akpoti-uduaghan: A Political Maverick Or A Master Of Controversy? by Callmedondee(op): 12:50pm On Feb 28, 2025
Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, has built a reputation as a fearless politician unafraid to challenge the status quo. From her battles with former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello (GYB) to her recent clashes with Senate President Godswill Akpabio, her political journey has been anything but conventional. However, a pattern seems to be emerging—one where allegations of harassment become a recurring tool in her arsenal against powerful male figures in Nigerian politics.

The GYB Saga: A Prelude to the Akpabio Controversy

Months ago, Akpoti-Uduaghan made headlines with her public confrontation with Yahaya Bello. She accused the former governor of orchestrating electoral violence and political intimidation against her. While many saw her as a courageous opposition figure, some critics argued that she skillfully played the victim card to gain public sympathy.

What stood out in that episode was the subtle but effective use of gender narratives to paint her opponent as a tyrant. The portrayal of a “strong woman against oppressive men” resonated with many Nigerians, particularly those sympathetic to the struggles of women in politics. However, detractors viewed it as a well calculated strategy designed to shift focus from political realities to emotional sentiments.

Enter Godswill Akpabio: A Familiar Tactic?

Fast forward to 2025, and a new controversy is brewing—this time with Senate President Godswill Akpabio. Reports suggest that Akpoti-Uduaghan has accused him of inappropriate behavior, reviving an old script that critics believe is part of her political playbook.

Those who support her argue that she is simply exposing the deep-rooted misogyny in Nigerian politics. They see her as a trailblazer fighting for women’s rights in a system dominated by men who would rather suppress female voices.

On the flip side, her detractors believe this is nothing more than another well-orchestrated attempt to manipulate public perception. They point out that Akpoti-Uduaghan has consistently used similar claims whenever facing political resistance from powerful male figures. Some go as far as to suggest that these allegations serve as a distraction from real governance issues, ensuring that she remains in the media spotlight while shifting public discourse in her favor.

Political Strategy or Genuine Advocacy?

The question now is whether Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan is a genuine advocate for justice or a shrewd politician who has mastered the art of leveraging gender politics to her advantage.

If her accusations are true, then Nigerian politics has a serious problem that must be addressed. However, if these are merely tactics to undermine her political rivals, then it raises concerns about the exploitation of real issues for personal gain.

Whatever the case may be, one thing is clear: Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan is not a politician to be underestimated. She understands the power of public sentiment and has shown time and again that she knows how to use it to her advantage. Whether this will work in her favor in the long run or eventually backfire remains to be seen.

What do you think? Is Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan a fearless fighter for justice or a political opportunist playing the gender card?
