It was a day of cultural pride and royal splendor at the Palace of the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, as Alhaji Yakubu Olayiwola Gobir was officially turbaned as the 10th Sarkin Gobir of Ilorin Emirate. The Emir, while performing the turbaning ceremony on Friday, February 21, 2025, urged the new titleholder to uphold the virtues of selflessness, integrity, and community service that earned him the prestigious title. Speaking at the event, the Emir of Ilorin described Alhaji Yakubu Gobir, who also holds the title of Madawaki of Ilorin, as a man dedicated to the welfare of his people. “Alhaji Yakubu Gobir is a true son of Ilorin, and I am proud of him. He has consistently demonstrated a commitment to community development and the upliftment of the less privileged. With this new role, you must unite the Gobir clan and continue to promote the rich cultural heritage of this Emirate. May Almighty Allah guide you aright.” Dignitaries Celebrate New Sarkin Gobir Among the prominent figures who graced the occasion was Prof. Hon. Ali Ahmad (SAN), former Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly and former House of Representatives member, who described the newly turbaned Sarkin Gobir as a distinguished cultural leader and devout Muslim. “He deserves this honor due to his proven pedigree, character, and hard work. Now, with both a traditional and honorary title, I congratulate him on this milestone,” he remarked. The turbaning ceremony attracted several dignitaries from within and beyond Kwara State, including Hon. Moshood Mustapha (Wakilin Ngeri), Dr. Alimi AbdulRazaq (elder brother of the Kwara State Governor and Mutawali Ngeri of Ilorin), Alhaji Abubakar Sulu-Gambari (Chiroma of Ilorin), Senator Abdullahi Gobir (Sokoto State), Alhaji Abdulkadir Attahiru Adamu Manko (Chairman, HAM Foundation), Professor Aisha Gobir, Professor Olaolu Ali (SAN), Hon. Ganiyu Cook Olododo (Mai Gaskiya Ilorin), Hajia Sa’adatu Modibbo-Kawu (Kwara State Commissioner for Education), Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim (Sarkin Hausawa of Kwara State), Alhaji Lukman Mustapha (Chairman, Board of Directors, Sobi FM), Professor Suleiman Abubakar Amana, and Alhaji Tajudeen AbdulKadir (The Makama of Lafiaji), among others. Royal Procession Marks Historic Occasion Following the turbaning ceremony, Alhaji Yakubu Gobir rode on horseback in a grand procession to the Emir’s Palace, accompanied by a large crowd of well-wishers. The colorful display of Ilorin’s rich cultural heritage reaffirmed the deep-rooted traditions of the emirate. Later in the day, a prayer session was organized in honor of the new Sarkin Gobir at his family compound. The prayer service was led by the Chief Imam of Gambari, Sheikh Suleiman AbdulAzeez, who prayed for wisdom, strength, and divine guidance for the new traditional leader as he assumes his new role. The event further cements Alhaji Yakubu Gobir’s status as a key figure in Ilorin’s traditional leadership, tasked with the responsibility of fostering unity within the Gobir clan and advancing the Emirate’s cultural legacy.

By Abubakar Imam Last Tuesday (February 4, 2025), the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman, Kwara State Council of Chiefs, His Royal Highesss, Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR; through his hardworking Spokesman and Shettima of Okuta, Mallam AbdulAzeez Arowona, announced the appointment of one of the community's high-flying frontliners, Alhaji Yakubu Garba Gobir, as the new Sarkin Gobir of Ilorin. This appointment was sequel to the popular choice of Alhaji Yakubu Gobir, who is also the Madawaki of Ilorin and Wazirin Kasar Hausa, by the entire Gobir family of Ilorin and the presentation of his candidature to the Emir. The respected monarch, who is also the Chancellor of Muhammadu Kamalud-Deen University, Ilorin and Bayero University, Kano, consequently endorsed the former gubernatorial candidate as the 10th Sarkin Gobir of Ilorin Emirate. The announcement was made at a simple but solemn ceremony held in the Emir's ancient palace and in the presence of his family members and other stakeholders. With the appointment, the renowned international businessman, community development enthusiast, and successful Pharmacist succeeds his cousin, the late Captain Mohammed Ahmed Yusuf-Gobir. Captain Yusuf-Gobir, a son of the war-time Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, Alhaji Yusuf Amuda Gobir, OFR; held the position for over one and half decades from 2009-2024. The late Sarkin Gobir was adjudged by both the members of the family and others as a fair and responsible leader! He was a perfect gentleman!! The title of Sarkin Gobir is one of the most respected hereditary traditional titles in Ilorin; with a very rich and exciting history. Sarkin Gobir is one of the sub-chiefs under the headship of the Balogun Gambari of Ilorin. The ancestral home of the Sarkin Gobir is sandwiched by those of the Balogun Gambari and Imam Gambari of Ilorin. It is also located opposite the residence of the Sarkin Gambari of Ilorin. All are in the area known as Gambari in the Ilorin East Local Government Area of Kwara State. The holder of the title of Sarkin Gobir is the traditional head of the entire Gobir family. He is also the head of the Gobir clan as well as all indigenes and residents of Ilorin whose ancestry can be traced to the historic kingdom of Gobir in the present-day Sokoto State. Gobir itself is a popular tribe whose existence and popularity predated the historic Jihad of Shaykh Usman Danfodiyo, the founder of Sokoto caliphate. Its history dates back to the pre-Islamic Arabia and through migration across the mediterranean ocean to the present-day Niger Republic. The group, through wars and migration, eventually found its way into Nigeria and especially in the contemporary Sokoto State from where the ancestors of the new Sarkin Gobir of Ilorin came down to Ilorin. The people of Gobir, who are called Gobirawa, are said to be among the first sets of Hausa-speaking groups known to the Yoruba. They are courageous and industrious people. They are also fearless warriors. Many of them, led by Sarkin Gobir Soba (who was a direct descendant of Sarkin Gobir Yunfa and Sarkin Gobir Nafata), as a result of the rampaging effects of the Jihad launched by Shaykh Usman Danfodiyo, migrated down south. They served as farmers, soldiers, and hunters across Yorubaland and Nupeland and eventually found a home in Ilorin. The Gobirawa continued to thrive in Ilorin, leading to a close relationship with members of other groups. The fact that the Gobirs came into Ilorin in an organised manner enhanced their settlement and positive interactions with others. This also assisted them in maintaining their corporate identity within the Emirate. Yours sincerely is one of the thousands of people of Ilorin who were not surprised with the appointment of Alhaji Yakubu Garba Gobir as the new Sarkin Gobir. This is because the new Sarki is a lover of history, traditions, and heritage. He is also someone who has paid his dues. Alhaji Yakubu Gobir, despite his national and international engagements, has presented himself as someone who would continue from where his illustrious progenitors stopped. His ancestors were never satisfied with their personal successes. They took leadership positions at various levels and succeeded greatly at them. Those who are familiar with the biography of his illustrious grandfather, Mallam Muhammadu Ajeigbe Gobir, wouldn't be surprised with the disposition of Alhaji Yakubu Gobir to community development. Those who are also aware of the life and times of his late father, Ambassador Abubakar Garba Gobir, would also be convinced that he is trekking a familiar route. The same would apply to those who are conversant with the careers of his uncles, particularly Alhaji Yusuf Amuda Gobir, OFR, and Alhaji Yakubu Amori Gobir as well as Alhaji Amuda Ahmadu Gobir. A study of their careers would convince all that community service must be in the DNA of the Gobirs. The case of the new Sarkin Gobir is somehow different from those of the three brothers who all left the public service as Permanent Secretaries at various times. None of the trio took any traditional title! It appears that the new Sarkin Gobir is following the footsteps of his illustrious grandfather, who combined a hereditary title with an honourary one. He was the first Ilorin indigene that would be so privileged!! Mallam Muhammadu Ajeigbe Gobir, who was one of the two sons of Ilorin to receive secondary school education, combined the title of Sarkin Gobir of Ilorin with that of the Waziri of Ilorin. He was, in fact, the first Waziri of Ilorin, and he admirably held the two positions and creditably discharged the responsibilities expected of him. But the new Sarkin Gobir seems to have added additional steps to what his grandfather achieved 70 years ago when he was appointed as the first Waziri of Ilorin. This was in addition to his hereditary title of Sarkin Gobir. This is because Alhaji Yakubu Gobir earned an honourary title from home (Madawaki of Ilorin) in addition to Wazirin Kasar Hausa from far away Daura in Katsina State, which he had earlier bagged. These two titles were crowned with the hereditary title of Sarkin Gobir. What a pleasure! What a feat!! What a greatness!!! The illustrious predecessors of the new Sarkin Gobir as contained in a work titled, "Transformations of Gobir Kingdom", published by the Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, and made available to me by a former Director of the Centre for Ilorin Studies (CILS) and current Director of the Centre for Peace and Strategic Studies (CPSS), University of Ilorin, Prof. Abdulganiyu Ibrahim Jawondo, are; Alfa Salihu Masalaci,the progenitor of the new Sarkin Gobir; Alfa Abubakar Salihu, Alfa Suleiman Babapupa and Alfa Issa Leramon, who was the great grandfather of the new Sarkin Gobir, as well as Alfa Abdulkadir. The date of the reigns of these leaders cannot be ascertained. Other past Sarkin Gobir as contained in the work earlier mentioned are; Mallam Muhammadu Ajeigbe Gobir (1954-1960), Alhaji Suleiman Issa; who succeeded his brother Mallam Muhammadu Ajeigbe Gobir; (1960-1996), and Alhaji Dauda Bababudo, who held the position from 1996 to 2009; then Captain Mohammed Ahmed Yusuf-Gobir, who was the holder of the title from 2009 to 2024. The new Sarkin Gobir was born in London, United Kingdom, on October 19, 1965. This was exactly a year before the birth of another pride of the Gobir dynasty and Professor of Paediatrics and Child Health at the University of Ilorin and Coordinator of the newly formed Ilorin Women Association (IWA), Prof. Aishatu Ahmed Gobir. His mother was Alhaja Belawu Gobir, who hailed from Ile Olugbon, Adeta, Ilorin. As an infant, young Yakubu, who was also named Olayiwola, was raised by the first Turaki of Ilorin, Alhaji Sanni Olanrewaju Buraimo Okin, MFR, OFR, MBE and his first wife, Alhaja Munirat Segilola Okin. The two, who were the first parents he knew, were also the foster parents of his mother, Alhaja Belawu Gobir. The new Sarkin Gobir attended American International School, Lome, Togo; New Delhi, India; and Stockholm, Sweden. It was at Cheltenham College, England, that he completed his General Certificate of Education with flying colours. He then proceeded to the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, from where he graduated with a degree in Pharmacy in 1985. He is also a graduate of Insitut European d' Administration des Affaires (INSEAD), Fountainbleau, France, and Harvard Business School in Boston, USA. After spending a number of years working for Pfizer and Hoechst in Nigeria, he started his own marketing and distribution company, Smart Mark Limited. The company opened up the Nigerian market for a number of multinationals: including Unilever, Swatch, Sara Lee, Wella, L'Oreal, Nike, Levi's, and Tommy Hilfiger. His company has in its employ over 500 people. The new Sarkin Gobir has a passion for community development. He is the founder of the famous and impactful 'The Gobir Organisation Foundation'. The organisation is focused on high impact social investment programmes. This patriot would continue to be celebrated for committing the sum of One Hundred (₦100,000,000:00) Million Naira to the comprehensive renovation of the Okesuna Primary School, Ilorin, a few years back. The school not only produced his grandfather, his father, and uncles as well as several members of his family and indigenes of Ilorin; but it is also the oldest primary educational institution in Ilorin. Alhaji Gobir, who has also supported the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU) and other sociocultural organisations in a number of ways in the last one decade, is currently shouldering the completion of the ancient Gambari Mosque in Ilorin. To the Mosque project, he has committed more than Two Hundred (₦200,000,000:00) Million Naira. The project would definitely consume more of the hard-earned resources of this unassuming philanthropist before its eventual completion. Alhaji Gobir, who speaks English, French, Hausa, and Yoruba fluently, is happily married to Hajiya Bilikisu Gobir. His wife hails from Zaria, Kaduna State. The marriage is blessed with outstanding children who are also doing very well in their various positions. The new Sarkin Gobir has his duties cut out. He is expected to serve as a rallying figure for the entire Gobir dynasty. He is also expected to extend continuous support to the progress of Ilorin more than he has been doing. His dynasty is renowned for patriotism. This must be rekindled and promoted as done by his progenitors. Though, Alhaji Gobir is unassuming, but he has the means. He has the contact as he also has the mind to achieve the essence of his appointment far and beyond expectations. He is equally blessed with other notable members of the Gobir family who continue to make significant contributions to the development of our community and humanity. These include his aunt Alhaja Segi Adama Ebo Daniyan, a dedicated community leader; his uncle, Alhaji Saad Olarongbe Gobir, a distinguished academic and scholar and father of Hajiya Sa'adatu Modibbo Kawu, who currently serves as the Kwara State Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development under His Excellency, the Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, CON; Hajiya Rabi Ayo Ishola, a retired Director of the Federal Ministry of Education; Alh. Mohammed Baba Gobir, a prominent businessman; Alhaji Ahmed Ladan Gobir, the President and Chairman of the Council, Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria and former Honourable Commissioner for Commerce, Industry & Co-operatives, and currently a topnotch of the Dangote Group. Others include Mr Idris Olanrewaju Gobir, a legal practitioner, who is based in London, United Kingdom; Mallam Nasiru Gobir, a prominent businessman; and Alh Moshood Gobir, who is a Special Assistant on Security to the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq,CON; Hajiya Sa'adatu Belgore a former Executive Director, Finance, Rural Electrification Agency (REA) and beloved wife of Dr Shuaib Lamido Belgore, OON, a serving Permanent Secretary in the Federal Civil Service and Prof. Zainab Gobir, the Executive Director, Economic Regulation and Strategic Planning, Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA). The last two ladies are daughters of the late Engr Mohammed Issa Gobir and Princess Salamatu Olawepo Gobir, a younger sister of the incumbent Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR, amongst several others. I sincerely congratulate Alhaji Yakubu Gobir on his new appointment as the 10th Sarkin Gobir of Ilorin Emirate. I wish him long life, sound health, and every other thing he would need to reign peacefully and rewardingly. Imam is National Secretary, Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union.

...Refuses To Implement Tribunal Judgment The Investment and Securities Tribunal has ordered the Director General of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to implement the decision against FINMAL to buy back shares and accrued bonus shares belonging to the estate of Late Ambassador Abubakar Garba Gobir that were wrongly sold or risk being committed for contempt. According to the notice of Consequence of Disobedience of Court Order (Form 48) which was filed at the registry of the Investment and Security Tribunal on the 2nd of November 2023, at our disposal, the DG of SEC may be committed to prison due to inaction of the group chairman of NGX. The dispute leading to the committal proceedings has a long and chequered history, according to our investigation. Late Ambassador Abubakar Garba Gobir had shares in various companies before his demise on November 27, 1996. Upon his demise, a letter of Administration was granted over his Estate by the Probate Registry Division of the High Court of Kwara State on August 6, 1997. Subsequently, one of the heirs was appointed by the Court to manage the Estate in the interest of other beneficiaries. Our sources revealed that the Estate discovered that there had been some underhand dealings with the shares belonging to the Estate, prompting a petition to SEC. The petition was investigated, and FINMAL FINANCE & SERVICES Limited and Professional Stockbrokers Limited (her sub-broker) were found to have sold the shares belonging to the Estate on the instruction of some untraceable persons. The value of the shares sold and accrued dividends totaled N170,036,405.79. According to the sources, despite the directive of SEC, the boss of FINMAL, who is now NGX group chairman, failed to buy back the shares and failed to pay the dividends to the estate. The Estate has vowed to do all within the confines of the law to ensure that justice is served and the Estate gets what rightly belongs to it. At this stage, we contacted the counsel for the Estate to shed more light on the dispute and the involvement of the DG of SEC. According to the counsel, Mr. Ahmed Tafa, "FINMAL FINANCE & SERVICES Ltd was ordered by SEC to buy back the shares wrongly sold and pay the accrued dividend to the Estate of Late Ambassador Gobir vide the letter dated 9th February 2021 on or before March 15, 2021, a directive which FINMAL failed to comply with. However, FINMAL Finance & Services Ltd, in a letter dated 1st June 2021 and jointly authored by Alh. Umaru Kwairanga and Mr. Adedapo Adekoje, offered to pay the Estate of Late Ambassador Gobir a sum of N90,000,000 in full and final settlement of the indebtedness which accrued from unauthorized sale of the shares belonging to the Estate; the Estate promptly rejected the offer. Despite a letter of reminder dated 16th June 2021, FINMAL FINANCE & SERVICE Ltd has refused to comply with SEC directives, leading the Estate to approach the Investment and Securities Tribunal to seek redress and hope for closure. The Tribunal, in its judgment dated 6th January 2023, directed SEC to enforce its decision against FINMAL FINANCE & SERVICES LTD. "The Estate met another brick wall because SEC has refused to comply with the judgment of the Tribunal. The Estate has now resorted to contempt proceedings against the D.G SEC to compel him to comply with the terms of the judgment by enforcing its decision dated 9th February 2021." The position of the Estate is buttressed by the process at our disposal which gave the DG SEC notice in the following terms: "TAKE NOTICE that unless you obey the direction contained in this order, you will be guilty of contempt of the court and will be liable to be committed to prison." All efforts to reach out to the Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Alhaji Lamido Yuguda, to hear his side of the story were unsuccessful, as several attempts to contact him went unanswered. Our correspondent also gathered that the Managing Director of FINMAL FINANCE & SERVICES is Alh. Umaru Kwairanga, who is the current Group Chairman of the Nigerian Exchange Group Plc, while Mr. Adedapo Adekoje was at a time the President of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers. It is believed that their positions may be responsible for the reluctance of the Securities and Exchange Commission to carry out the order of the tribunal. They seem to be "above the law." |

Can Police be our friend at all? Residents of Ijegun-Egba of Lagos State penultimate Saturday evening returned to a shocking development as a Police DPO in the area personally tortured an innocent Nigerian lady to stupor for no just cause. The Benue born young lady, Miss Fatu Rose Ochigbo of number 27, Musi-Anidu Street, Ijegun-Egba suburb of Lagos State is still fighting to regain consciousness at a hospital in Lagos after she was handpicked and beaten mercilessly by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Agboju Police Station, DST. Ibrahim Audu and his boys on Saturday 11/11/2017 An eyewitness who is simply known in the area as Aunty Pauline told New-Nigeria Reporters that the victim, Miss Fatu Ochigbo, was in her house cooking and only came out of her room to throw off water in the gutter when she saw a number of persons being chased by Police men running toward her compound. According to Aunty Pauline, out of concern for her own safety, Miss Fatu started running back to her room but the Police quickly descended on her and started beating her up mercilessly, adding that the DPO of Agboju Police Station personally hit the innocent lady on the head with the Police wooden baton leaving her broken skull gushing out blood Upon investigation, the Police were said to be pursuing a MALE suspected hoodlum terrorising the area but descended on Miss Fatu over a reason best known to them (the Police) New-Nigeria Reporters further learnt that Miss Rose Fatu Ochigbo was rushed to the nearest hospital and treated by the Police for N16,000 after realising the girl's innocence. However, Miss Rose who is in great pain, cannot sleep and has lost substantial quantity of blood was forced by the murderous DPO who came back to demand for the N16,000 hospital bill he paid for the treatment. A source closed to the victim told New-Nigeria Reporters that Miss Fatu who could barely open her eyes due to the heavy cut on her head had to cough out the 16,000 to pay the DPO who had threatened to kill her if she refused to pay him back. The victim's family are calling on Nigerians to come to their aid over this injustice, describing the incident as a disgrace to Nigerians and the womanhood, adding that Miss Fatu is an innocent young girl who was assaulted by members of the Nigerian Police Force for no just cause. The family questioned why members of the Nigerian Police Force would mistake an innocent young lady for a male suspect.

A student of the University of Ilorin, UNILORIN (name withheld) was recently kidnapped by suspected ritualists and forced to drink blood from unknown source before setting him free, the institution management has revealed. The Sub-Dean, Students Affairs Unit of the University, Dr. Alex Akanmu made this known on Wednesday during a Press Conference, organised by the newly elected Students Union executive. Dr. Alex Akanmu warned students against accepting or begging for a lift from strangers in order not to fall prey of suspected ritualists on the prowl. The Sub-Dean, who said that the incident occurred two weeks ago in one of the Government Reserved Area (GRA), in the state capital, added that the victim was offered a lift by unknown person who disguised as a good Samaritan after a commercial motorcycle he boarded dropped him off without taking him to his destination, “unknown to the victim that it was a plot against him.” Dr Akanmu also said that the victim on entering the vehicle said that he noticed that two other occupants in the car were unconscious and also suffered the same fate as he suddenly found himself in a ritualist den in Offa town in Kwara State. ‘‘From the Offa branch, they transferred him to another branch of the ritualists in Ogbomoso, they said they have enough boys’’, he said. He said the victims were also rejected in Ogbomoso branch on the account that they needed girls and was asked to be set free since he did not suit the purpose for which he was kidnapped. ‘‘But that is not the end of the story, they had his nail cut, asked him to drink his own urine and blood from unknown sources,’’ he said. Akanmu said the victim had been reunited with his family after the school management received a distress text message he sent and picked him from where he was dumped around 6 pm on Sunday.

Spit on Buratai CORRUPTION IN THE ARMY EXPOSED: A BRAVE SOLDIER FROM OPERATION LAFIYA DOLE WRITES PRESIDENT BUHARI AN OPEN LETTER. His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari, Commander in Chief of the Nigerian Arrmed Forces, Presidential Villa, Abuja. Your Excellency, Having read the online correspondence between Dr. Idris Ahmed of CUPS and our Army spokesman, Brigadier Generral S.K. Usman, I have decided to take a major risk and write to your Excellency directly over this issue. Sir, I am a course-mate of Pvt. Abdulrauf Aliyu, who Oga S.K. claimed that he has gone AWOL. We trained at the same company, Depot Nigerian Army, Zaria, Kaduna State. We are presently posted to Operation LAFIYA DOLE. On behalf of all the colleagues of Pvt. Abdulrauf Aliyu, I categorically refute the allegation that Pvt. Abdulrauf Aliyu deserted the Army. The Sections 59 - 63 of the Armed Forces Act, Cap A20, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004, as quoted by Oga S.K., has always been mentioned by our superiors, to protect themselves and antagonise us, whenever they have done mischief. Your Excellency, the case of Pvt. Abdulrauf Aliyu is actually not an isolated one. There are many such cases of soldiers who got wounded at the battlefront. It is true, some are well looked after, as mentioned by Oga S.K. Usman in his press release. Unfortunately, due to corruption in the system, some unfortunate soldiers, mostly from less privileged backgrounds, are left to fend for themselves. Like myself, Pvt. Abdulrauf Aliyu comes from a humble family. He sustained life threatening injuries in the abdomen during a routine operation. The initial first aid treatment and medical care that he received was very inadequate. With full Army permission, Pvt Abdulrauf Aliyu and his family paid for his transfer to University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital. Unfortunately, the care he received in Maiduguri Teaching Hospital too was inadequate. Eventually, his family had to pay for his transfer to a specialist facility in Sokoto. Your Excellency, corruption in the Army is REAL, and it is killing us. Every man and woman who decided to join the Army knows the risks. While we expect to die in the hands of the enemy, we don’t expect to die in the hands of the Nigerian Army, due to corruption and criminal negligence.They send the northern soldiers to the south to enjoy,why the southern soldier are left to die in the hands of boko Haram & hunger in yobe . Just the other week, about 14 (I am not sure of the exact numbers) of our colleagues died in the hands of Boko Harram, who attacked the Army camp. The circumstances surrounding their unnecessary death warrants a full investigation by his Excellency. Sir, you will be shocked of the outcome. The bodies of the slain heroes are still lying here in Damaturu, Yobe State. The story of this incidence has hardly been officially published by the Army or Nigerian media. Your Excellency, this is the third month in a row that we have been denied of our operations allowance. We have to rely ONLY on our meager salary for everything. From battalion commanders, to Company and Sectors leaders, we are all in debt, because our salaries are not enough to sustain us at the battlefront while feeding our families back at home. It is a big shame that we have joined the Army to defend the civilians, yet we have to go to the civilians in town to borrow money to fend for ourselves at the battlefront. Take for instance the food that we are fed. Most of the times it is not fit for human consumption. I attach for your perusal, your Excellency, the lunch that was fed to us this afternoon (3/11/2017). As you can clearly see, there is not a single piece of meat or fish in it. The taste of the food is so bad that we have to add surplus salt to be able to eat it. This is also dangerous for our health. A plate of our food per soldier is probably about two hundred Naira (N200). It is said that the Federal Government spends about fourteen thousand Naira (N14,000) on each prisoner in Nigeria. Here, at the battlefront in Operation LAFIYA DOLE, the Army spends about six hundred Naira (N600) per day per soldier on feeding us, while in reality billions of Naira is appropriated per year for this purpose. Your Excellency, we are treated like animals. Most of us are afraid to talk because of the dire consequence. As the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, your Excellency, kindly investigate. There is corruption in the Army. Brave soldiers are needlessly dying. By Patriotic Soldier. Operation LAFIYA DOLE. Damaturu. Yobe State. 3/11/2017.

Yesterday, a 27-year-old man known as Nkosilathi Sibanda, was arraigned before a Zimbabwean Magistrates’ court for allegedly sleeping with his neighbour’s wife after disguising as her husband. According to Zimnews, the accused was charged with rape when he appeared before the Magistrate, Hosiah Mujaya. The court heard that Sibanda tiptoed from his bedroom while undressed in the ‘wee hours’ and got into the woman’s blankets while the light was off and started caressing and kissing her. Unfortunately, the woman responded to him, thinking it was her husband till he penetrated her before realising that it wasn’t him. The prosecutor, Timothy Makoni, said, “On October 22 at around 3am, Sibanda who knew that the victim’s husband had not returned home, tip-toed into her bedroom while naked. “Sibanda quickly opened the door and saw the victim sleeping on the bed. He allegedly crept into her blankets and started kissing and touching the woman who then responded thinking it was her husband. “The accused became intimate with the woman and at that moment she discovered that it was not her husband. She pushed Sibanda away, jumped from the bed and rushed to switch on the light. “The victim was shocked to see her co-tenant’s husband undressed in her bed and screamed for help. She fought with Sibanda and slapped him twice in the face, but all he could do was to ask for forgiveness. “He then rushed back to his bedroom as the victim kept on screaming for help, alerting neighbours. The court further heard that people then gathered at the house and questioned Sibanda why he had committed the offence and he kept on apologising. The victim, with the help of neighbours, went to the police station and reported Sibanda. |

There’s a weird incident that happened just now, in Ogba Lagos, after a woman and her lover were found dead in a car in Ogba. According to what we know, their “naked lifeless bodies” were pulled out of the car.. Apparently, they were having sex in the car behind the Nigerian Institute of Journalism, Ogba Lagos. Reports gathered revealed that the car was packed by the roadside with the engine and the air conditioning running. We don’t know what might be the cause of their death, as it can’t be suffocation, because the Air Condition of the car was on, with the engine running. many believe it’s as a result of a spiritual attack. It’s also being reported that the woman is married with 4 kids. The state public relations officer has been contacted on the incident and has promised give feedback. Some reports from eyewitness;

Lagos—CHIEF Magistrate Kikelomo Ayeye of Tinubu Magistrate’s Court, yesterday, remanded Aminu Atiku, son of the former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, in transit cell for disobeying a court order to produce his six-year-old son (names withheld) in court. Aminu Atiku being led out of the court Aminu was alleged to have disobeyed an order made by Ayeye on October 11 over the custody of the boy, who he was alleged to have taken away from the custody of his ex-wife, Fatimo Bolori. Magistrate Ayeye had ordered the respondent in the suit—U. F. Bolori vs. M. A. Abubakar— to produce the boy at the first hearing of the case. When the case came up for the discharge of “Emergency, Evacuation/Protection Order” made by the court, the court was informed that the parties were planning to settle out of court. In response, Bolori’s lawyer, Mr. Nwabuzor Okoh, denied receiving any notification from the respondent to settle out of court. Following the development, Chief Magistrate Ayeye cited Atiku for contempt for disobeying court order issued on October 11, and ordered that the respondent be remanded in transit cell and the case stood down, pending when he would produce the boy. However, Atiku was later released when he fulfilled the court order. Consequently, Magistrate Ayeye granted the custody of the children to Fatimo Bolori. Ayeye ordered that the children, aged eight and six, be in their mother’s custody for 10 days, pending when permanent living, visiting arrangement will be made, and adjourned the case till November 1, for further hearing on the matter. Developments It was gathered that both Fatimo and Aminu had divorced in 2011. The children were living with their mother, Fatimo, with an arrangement that they should be allowed to spend their vacation with their father. However, when the children were on holidays in 2013, Aminu requested that they be released to him to travel abroad for vacation and thereafter, allegedly refused to let them return to their mother. It was also alleged that he decided where, when and how the mother would visit them under heavy security. Keyamo Chambers’ statement Meanwhile, Festus Keyamo Chambers has released what it termed an update on the remand in prison of Aminu Abubakar. The statement, signed by one Nwabuzor Okoh, read: ‘’We are the solicitors to Miss Ummi Fatima Bolori, the estranged wife of the former Vice President’s son, Aminu Abubakar. “As already widely reported, kindly recall that earlier today (yesterday), Chief Magistrate K. B. Ayeye of Magistrate Court 1, Tinubu, remanded Aminu Abubakar in prison custody for his failure to produce in court one of the children of the broken marriage with client. “However, following his remand in custody, he was compelled to produce the six-year-old boy in court late this (yesterday) afternoon. “Accordingly, Aminu Abubakar was released from custody and our client, Miss Ummi Bolori, has been reunited with her two kids, which were forcefully taken from her by Aminu Abubakar four years ago.”

Patience Jonathan, wife of former President Goodluck Jonathan has dismissed an allegation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission that she used her foundation, Aruera Reachout Foundation to launder stolen funds. Background: The anti-corruption agency had frozen 15 accounts belonging to the former first lady, stating that the funds were proceeds of corruption. Mrs Jonathan had filed a N2bn fundamental human rights suit against the EFCC, accusing the anti-graft agency of subjecting her to psychological trauma and freezing her late mother’s account. The EFCC had also said it uncovered N2.1bn from an account belonging to the former first lady and her late mother. What she said: In a statement by her Chief Press Secretary, Belema Meshack-Hart, on Thursday, Mrs Jonathan said; Her foundation “is a non-governmental, not-for-profit organisation established in 2006.” The foundation has spent over N3.5bn for the treatment of 700 children and adults with heart-related ailments. She said, “Till date, over 700 children have benefited from the Aruera Reachout Foundation, this alone cost the foundation billions, it is not news that the logistics involved in the treatment of heart disease cost over N5m per child. “This demonstrates the caring and maternal nature of Nigeria’s former first lady. God has used her as an instrument to positively touch the lives of some of our nation’s sick children, to make them healthy and happy through the appropriate medical intervention, it is now strange and sad that the EFCC will allege that such foundation only existed to launder funds. “The many sick children that would have died but now live a happy life will stand as testament against the baseless propaganda and shameless allegation of the EFCC. It is worthy of note that the foundation which is duly registered by the CAC is free to receive donations from reputable individuals and organisations for its projects just like any other NGO.” The former first lady also berated the EFCC for saying it had traced N2.1bn to Magel Resort Ltd., a hotel owned by her late mum, Mama Charity Oba. She urged the EFCC to let her late mother rest in peace. Patience added, “The former first lady had no dealings with the hotel until the demise of her late mum after which the hotel was handed over to her with the presentation of the death certificate of her mum. “This can be confirmed by Zenith Bank. Mrs. Patience Jonathan does not own Magel Resort Ltd. neither did she open the hotels account with Zenith Bank. The late mother of the former first lady should be allowed to rest in peace.”

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has claimed that most cabinet members in the government of former President, Goodluck Jonathan took advantage of him. Wike also alleged that members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the north ganged up against Jonathan, in the build-up to the 2015 presidential election. Jonathan lost the election to President Muhammadu Buhari. “PDP in the north ganged up against Jonathan. Let the truth be told! Nobody will die! They were not sincere to him,” Wike said in the current edition of The Interview. “Let me tell you the truth; so many people were not sincere with Jonathan. You saw that even in the way some were being unduly sycophantic on issues that were totally out of point…I saw there was a lot of deceit. “Some of them would say, ‘Your Excellency, Sir, as I’m speaking with you now, so and so state is down for PDP’. It was all lies,” he said.

The Federal Ministry of Health has told Nigerians to avoid the consumption of monkeys, bush meat and dead animal as doing so could expose one to the risk of Monkey Pox disease. Currently in Bayelsa State, a medical doctor and no fewer than 10 persons have reportedly been quarantined as a result of the virus. The Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole, gave the advice in a statement by the Director, Media and Public Relations in the ministry, Boade Akinola, on Thursday According to the minister, the disease neither had a cure nor a vaccine, noting, however, that there was no cause for alarm as it was mild. The statement read in part, “He (Adewole) said the virus was mild and there was no known treatment and no preventive vaccines , hence the public should be at alert and avoid crowded places as much as possible. “He advised the public to avoid eating dead animals, bushmeat and particularly bush monkeys.” The minister also revealed that test samples had been sent to the World Health Organisation (laboratory ) in Senegal but the result was still being awaited. He, however, called on Nigerians, who had symptoms of fever, back pain and rashes resembling chicken pox, to report to the hospital. It added, “The symptoms include headache, fever, back pains and in advanced cases, rashes bigger than those caused by chicken pox.”
