The Federal Government yesterday gave a directive that all primary and post primary schools across the federation be closed down till 4th of February. Speakin to Newsmen in Abuja, the minister for state on Education explained the reason for decision.  He said that it was a request by INEC to enable them make use of the schools for voters registration. The FG after due consideration granted the request in a bid to portray how prepared it is to support INEC to deliver a credible election to the nation. The minister however pleaded with the principals of schools especially private schools to comply with the directive.

Anambra state Governor, Mr Peter Obi yesterday relieved the Acting Vice Chancellor of Anambra State University of his duties. Obi in his remark said that the decision to sack the Acting VC, Mr Anene was geared towards restoring normal education in the school. He equalled announced that the Provost of Federal College of Education Nsugbe should take over the mantle of leadership from him. It wil be recalled that last month, that the Governor reconstituted a new governing council of the University. Lets hope that this change goes a long way toward stemming the tide in educational sector in the school.
