THE House of Representatives Committee on Basic Education yesterday walked out the Nigerian Teachers Institute boss, Mr. Aminu Ladan Sarahu over poor presentation of his institute’s 2016 budget proposal. The committee headed by Rep Zakari Moham-med,APC, Baruten/ Kaima Federal Constituency apparently disturbed by the poor presentation of proposal by the NTI boss asked him to go back home and do a proper budget to be presented to the committee within the next two weeks. The NTI boss irked the lawmakers when he told them that his institute was tagged Basic Education, hence it was denied funds from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund). The lawmakers baffled by Mr. Sarahu’s disposition during the presentation accused him of having bias mind typical of an unprepared chief executive and therefore ordered him to explain line-by-line what he enumerated in his proposal, since they (lawmakers) couldn’t make any sense of his document. At this point, the committee chairman, Zakari Mohammed politely asked the NTI boss to excuse the committee to enable it face other serious legislative engagement, whilst directing that he put his presentation in order and return back to them. |
Anambra State Government says it has discovered 850 ghost workers in the state civil service during routine efforts to identify areas of waste in the state. The State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano said during an interaction with media practitioners in the state said it was part of the internal mechanism adopted by his administration to cope with the harsh economic condition in the country occasioned by crash in oil prices. Gov. Willie Obiano of Anambra State According to the Governor, 350 of the ghost workers were discovered recently, while 500 were discovered earlier, adding that the exercise would continue. The Governor said however that despite the downturn in the economy, Anambra remains one of the four states in the country still paying regular salaries to workers and carrying out meaningful projects, attributing it to prudent management of resources. He however admitted that the drastic drop of the state’s revenue from the Federation Account to about 27 percent was affecting the execution of projects, but insisted that he would not abandon any project inherited from his predecessor. He said that though the state’s Internally Generated Revenue, IGR, had improved from N500 million per month where he met it to an average of N1.2 billion monthly, his administration was targeting N2.2 billion IGR monthly The expected improved IGR, he explained, would not lead to undue taxation of the people as experts have identified areas that could be explored in the attempt to improve revenue generation. Obiano said his administration would remain focused in the implementation of his programmes, maintaining that his four pillar development agenda, which include agriculture, trade and commerce, industrialization and oil and gas, as well as 13 ancillary enablers, would be executed religiously. www.vanguardngr.com/2016/02/anambra-discovers-850-ghost-workers/ |

The OP must be high on poorly cooked oshogbo weed. Simply becos he wants to make FP, he had garnish the story with alot of lies and mislead the public. These pictures were taken during the feast of St. Pauls Seminary, Ukpor. The school in question is my Alma Mater. Yes.. priests actually danced with the masquerade but that was to send a message. Th idea of all those u see in d pictures that looks fetish is to make people understand the idea of inculturation in the catholic church. Culture and religion still got alot in common. Super Eagles coach Sunday Ogochukwu Oliseh has expressed shock over Emmanuel Emenike’s abrupt resignation from the Super Eagles. Emenike, 28, who plays for Al Ain of Dubai towed the line of goalkeeper. Vincent Enyeama by calling time on his career through instagram, a development that shocked Eagles coach Oliseh and President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Melvin Amaju Pinnick.Nigeria striker Emmanuel Emenike on October 20, 2015 announced his retirement from international football, after a barren spell in front of goal. ‘’It’s a big surprise and shock to all of us to hear of his resignation’’, Oliseh who is tinkering the home Eagles for the return leg match of the CHAN qualifier against Burkina Faso in Ouagadougou next week said. Oliseh had guided the Eagles to whip the Etalons of Burkina Faso 2-0 in the first leg played at Port Harcourt. Insinuations that Oliseh might drop the player from the Eagles squad for next month’s World Cup qualifier against Swaziland because he has not scored for the Eagles for two years was dismissed by the coach. ‘’Eh, Come on! You know me better than that. There is no water to that story and it did not emanate from me. I’ve not spoken to anybody(Journalist) concerning the team. I was surprised when I read the story attributed to me. Immediately, I called him but he did not pick his call and the Team’s scribe Dayo Enebi Acho also called him without success. I’m shocked and surprised. We had no issues and he had played four times since I took over the team. He’s a great player’’, Oliseh noted. He was not the only person shocked to hear about Emenike’s resignation on instagram. NFF President Amaju said that he was ‘’utterly flabbergasted by the resignation of Emenike. ‘’We(NFF) have not been contacted officially but I’m shocked because Emenike has been a major factor of success for the team. Players have the right to quit but I think that they should do it in a civil manner. Asked if it was not one resignation too many since Oliseh took over the team, Amaju exonerated the coach. ‘’Oliseh did not speak to anybody concerning dropping any player. He understands the dynamics of coaching. This is one of the reasons why we have to implement the code of conduct. Things should be done the right way. But, we have absolute confidence in Oliseh. He is in charge and determines players to be invited’’, Amaju emphasised. |
Manchester United will be hoping to return to winning ways in the Champions League when Wolfsburg are the visitors to Old Trafford. Louis van Gaal's side's European campaign got off to the worst possible start with a 2-1 defeat at PSV Eindhoven but they will be hoping their perfect record against Wolfsburg continues to get them back on track. In their only previous meetings, United beat Wolfsburg in both games in 2009, winning 2-1 at home before securing a 3-1 triumph at the Volkswagen Arena. Team news Four United players were absent from their final training session before taking on Wolfsburg. Michael Carrick, Ander Herrera, Antonio Valencia and Marcos Rojo were all missing from the session at the Aon Training Complex in Carrington on Tuesday morning. Rojo has missed the last two games with a hamstring problem, but Carrick and Valencia started Saturday's 3-0 win over Sunderland while Herrera was an unused substitute. Youngsters Josh Harrop, Donald Love and James Weir were drafted in for the session because of the injuries, while defender Paddy McNair also took part after he recovered from the injury that has sidelined Wolfsburg have injuries of their own to contend with and will be without Vierinha, Felipe and Robin Knoche for the trip to Old Trafford. Midfielder Luiz Gustavo is a doubt and could miss the game after picking up a knock in the 5-1 defeat to Bayern Munich last week. Opta stats No German team has kept a clean sheet in their last 16 Champions League games against Manchester United. The last side to do so were Bayern Munich in March 2002 (0-0 at Old Trafford). him for the last two games. Manchester United have only lost four of their last 65 Champions League games at Old Trafford (W46 D15). United have won 10 of their last 14 Champions League games against German opposition (D1 L3). Man Utd have never lost their first two games of a Champions League campaign. Anthony Martial has yet to score in the Champions League (505 minutes). What are your predictions? |
