Philanthropist and Nollywood actor Williams Uchemba has revealed the level of unemployment affecting graduates in Nigeria yearly. Skill acquisition and entrepreneurship is the way to go in a country where getting a job is like rocket science. Williams who is also known for his comic act is set to embark on a give away tour to help people acquire new skills and be able to fend for themselves. He Wrote: There are 23.4million Unemployed Youth In Nigeria, and out of the 500,000 young people that graduates from the University every year in Nigeria less than 10% of that number eventually get a job. That number alone can collapse a nation and her economy and I honestly don’t know how we have been surviving with that staggering statistics. One of the major ways to deal with the unemployment rate in Nigeria is not only by Job creation in the private and public sectors,If we really want to drastically reduce the unemployment rate in our society it will only be done through Entrepreneurship through Human capital Development. The degree certificate is not enough these days, thus graduate needs new skills set to survive. This is part of the goals of the Our new Project @Project_onemillion under Williams Uchembah Foundation were we intend to Build Vocational and skill Acquisition Institution in various cities in Nigeria to enable this people not just become self dependent but also create job opportunities for others. So I will be continuing the #GiveChallengeTour from the second week of November but this time we will not only be taking kids off the street and empowering their parents , we will also create platforms to train the unemployed youth to acquire new skill set. http://olosho4naija..com/2018/10/williams-uchembah-decries-unemployment.html?m=1 Cc Lalasticlala Cc MissyB3 Cc Dominique Cc Fynestboi Cc Seen

The Presidential Initiative on Continuous Audit (PICA) has said that payment of the approved N22. 6 billion entitlements to ex-workers of the defunct Nigeria Airways Ltd., was halted due to multiple verifications by some of the beneficiaries. Mr. John Waitono, Deputy Director, PICA, made the disclosure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Lagos. The verification exercise for the ex-workers of the former national carrier took place from Oct. 15 to Oct. 28 across three centers in Lagos, Kano and Enugu. Waitono said PICA had planned to start the payment of already verified pensioners in batches of 1,000 but had to halt the disbursement after it was discovered that some of the beneficiaries were verified in more than one location. He said: “What happened was that the first batch was to commence payment but when we went through the system, we discovered that some persons have done the same exercise in Enugu and Lagos or Kano and Lagos. “We now started sorting them out and that is what delayed the first batch. So, now we have collated all the information in one place from the three centers. The system is now sieving out those with multiple verifications. “One of such persons, whom I am aware of, said he did not trust the verification he did in Kano and that was why he did another one in Lagos.” According to him, PICA is being careful not to make the mistake of paying some of the beneficiaries more than once. “As at today (Monday), the consultant is back in Abuja and we are ensuring that the verified persons are paid as soon as possible. We want to send the names to the Office of the Account General in batches of 1,000. “Over 5,000 persons were verified and once we eliminate the multiple verification, everybody will be paid before the end of the week,” he said. Waitono, who was the coordinator of the verification exercise at the Lagos center, disclosed that it was concluded on Sunday, adding that the equipment had been sent back to Abuja. “The few cases we left behind were those still processing their letters of administration in court. “Also, there are some families involved in litigation over the beneficiaries and we have allowed them to go and sort themselves out legally before coming for the exercise,” he said. The former national carrier was liquidated in 2004 by the President Olusegun Obasanjo’s government without paying the workers their severance packages as stipulated in extant labour laws. US Embassy The United States Consulate General Lagos, in collaboration with RoboRAVE International, a U.S.-based robotics education academy, trained 187 Nigerian students on robotics. Robotics deals with the design, construction, operation and use of robots, as well as computer systems for their control, sensory feedback and information processing. These technologies are used to develop machines that can substitute for humans and replicate human actions. Speaking during the robotics workshop on Saturday in Lagos, the U.S. Consulate Public Affairs Officer, Mr Russell Brooks, said that there was the need to acquire the required skills for the technology’s future. Brooks said that the training was toward the U.S. Consulate’s mission to encourage good relationship between Nigeria and the U.S. He said that the workshop was meant to boost technology education in Nigeria by engaging the participating students in hands-on robotics activities. According to him, the training is to stimulate students’ interest in maths and sciences, as well as careers in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields. “At some point in life, you are going to look for job to earn money to support your family. “In order to do that, you are going to need to acquire the required skills. “The future of technology is going to be based on Artificial Intelligence (AI), hence, the need for robotics training,’’ he said. The Director, RoboRAVE Nigeria, Mr Kingsley Imade, said that the national event was the second edition in Nigeria and was to prepare students for the future. Imade said that RoboRAVE would be having states training in schools in Ondo, Enugu, Asaba, Yenagoa and Osogbo.
