President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as part of events marking the first anniversary of his Administration flagged off the commencement of commercial operations of the Abuja Light Rail. The President commended the FCT Minister, Barrister Nyesom Wike for his tremendous efforts in developing the FCT and announced the commencement of free train rides till the end of the year.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday, 28th May 2024 commissioned the Southern Parkway in Abuja which has now been renamed the "Bola Ahmed Tinubu Way" by the Hon, Minister of the FCT, Barrister Nyesom Wike. The President commended Barrister Wike for providing exemplary leadership as the Minister. the FCT saying that his revolutionary changes made in the FCT both in structure and administration are yielding positive results and elevating the lives of many Nigerians.

FCT Minister, Barrister Nyesom Wike on Tuesday, 21st May 2024 received the Rwandan High Commissioner to Nigeria HE Christophe Bazivamo and the Swedish Ambassador to Nigeria HE Annika Hahn-Englund. Both diplomats commended the Minister for his efforts at improving the infrastructural development and security situation of the FCT. The Minister on his part pledged the commitment of the Administration for the wellbeing of the diplomats and embassies in the FCT. He also expressed the desire for cooperation in economic development activities.

The Honourable Minister of the FCT, Barrister Nyesom Wike on Saturday, 27th April 2024 visited ongoing project sites in the city to ascertain the progress of the projects. The projects visited by the Minister included the Construction of the Southern Parkway from the Christian Centre to Ring Road 1, Full scope development of the Outer Southern Expressway (OSEX) from Villa Roundabout to Ring Road 1 and the Construction of the Vice President’s official residence. Others are the Completion of B6 and B12 Circle Road, also known as Independence and Constitution Avenue and the full scope development of the Arterial Road, N20 from Northern Parkway (Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Expressway) to Outer Northern Expressway (Murtala Mohammed Expressway). The Minister who recalled that the FCT Administration made a promise to residents of the FCT to complete the ongoing road projects by May this year to showcase the achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in one year in office, said the projects were on course to being completed within schedule. The Minister said that the projects were about 98 percent completed and commended the contractors for keeping their promise to deliver them on schedule.

The Minister expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work on the site and said that reiterated that the project will be completed in time for its scheduled commissioning in May
