Delta north is the most progressive part of Delta state.

Now imagine joining folks with their "monday sit at home" madness.
That is backwardness.
If the people want backwardness, you have to allow them through referendum.

Why are we not allowing referendum in this country?

Any part that want to go should be allowed in peace.
Politics › Re: Anioma Youths Protesting To Join South East (Photos) by CaptainFM1: 4:22pm On Dec 15, 2025
Even with the creation of Anioma state, the entire south will still be short by 1 state.

This state inequality issue will still persist. How can only NW have 7states, while others have 6 and SE have just 5?

Why are we so wicked in this part of the world?

Which part of the ruling goes contrary to the law? If there is anything dangerous about it, the danger lies in the Constitution itself not in the ruling of the Court which is bound to apply the Constitution as it was written not as we imagine it should be.
I'm not referring to just the ruling. The ruling is a climax of the whole charade. When the constitution says the "Senate shall vote" it doesn't refer to "Aye and Nay". The judiciary simply enabled the charade by making it an academic exercise long after fruition of the emergency rule. We have a caged and bought over judiciary system.

Hello Nairalanders,

For the past 3 weeks now I have been having some issues on my car battery. Most time I will park it in the night only to start it in the morning and found out the battery has drained but the surprise comes when I jump-start it with another battery and it works then drive it and stay in office for almost 11hrs, whenever I start the car it will work perfectly, the only time it drains is overnight.

Mech Engineers/ Rewires in the house, please what could have been the cause. Thank you very much.
When did you buy the battery?

But this vessel is registered in Guyana. Why are they saying Nigerian vessel.

Maybe registered under "port of convenience" to carry out shady and corrupt deals which includes tax avoidance or to escaping blacklist chartering.

Is the cargo onboard from Nigeria? I think that's more important to us Nigerians because these oil cabals will do anything to steal our crude.

Celebrities › Re: Research By Harvard Highlight Income Loss And Structural Challenges For Afrobeat by CaptainFM1: 6:05am On Dec 13, 2025
alfredilly:
What we popularly call Afrobeats today didn't start as Afrobeat. In fact, it has little element of Afro identity. They were all musical piece inspired by the ambition to identify with global music culture. Before their emergence, African musicians showcases various brand that is rooted in indigenous culture and tradition. There was Juju, Apala and many more in Yoruba land. A more nationwide song was highlife but that cut across west Africa.

Afrobeats as it's now called was inspired by modern singers who aspire for global appeal by imitating hip hop and other western style singers. American music was the biggest drive and several foreign song were adapt by local musican like Olu Maintain ( e g I catch cold). The Eddy Remedies comprising of Idris Abdulkareem, Toni Tetuila and Eddy incorporated raps with indigenous language modelled in foreign style. There were also the plantation boys of Tu face, face and black face.

The advent of social media popularize the music among global audience who struggled to find specific identity for it. Then came the coinage Afrobeats.

Before then, only Fela Kuti could be credited with anything called Afrobeat when he transformed his highlights by infusing it with Jazz. What we currently called Afrobeat is cheer opportunism. Nothing more.
Afrobeats (with s) seem appropriate for all types of songs that are yet identified from the African continent especially those that embraces western cultures and styles.

It may be right to give Afrobeat to Fela and Afro Juju to Sir Shina Peters whilst Lagbaja may wants to claim "Afro Calypso" but in reality, all they do is to fuss existing genre of musics together.

Anybody that hears a rap song, will undoubtedly know it's a rap song. And same goes for Blues, Jazz, Reggae, Funk, country music, opera etc.

In more recent times, the likes of Tuface, Olu maintain, Eedris, Davido, Wizkid, Burnaboy, Tems, Tiwa Salvage, Ayra Strr etc have also fused African style musics with western musics and culture. It is therefore safe to call these class of musics Afrobeats because there is no limit to the extent to wish they fuse.

That said, there is almost no difference in the two names. Just an "s" is not sufficient enough to distinguish between the two. Since there was already "Afrobeat", the modern fussed African genre should have adopted a different and uniquely identifying name. This is where the confusion lies.

Seun Kuti would probably keep going about to maintain his stand, but for now, there's "Afrobeat" and there's "Afrobeats".
